HEAVEN4444: What's silly about it ? Stop trying to sound smart because you are not. Yeah white people think the way you are stating but immigrants who plan to retire back home save heavily for as long as they are working. So answer the question and stop trying to sound smart Immigrants who come to UK, even if they plan to retire back home, will still invest where they are instead of saving. After all, if they earn £100k per annum and save it all, they'd still need 10 years to accumulate a million, during which they'd pay rent which could have been mitigated with a 5-7% mortgage to buy a house which would have likely increased in value in 10 years. But please, ignore my smart and go abroad and save a million and watch inflation consume it. And that's if you save that much in 50 years, after which you'd likely find returning home impossible because you'd be used to your abroad comforts. |

HEAVEN4444: answer the question. No need introducing your own questions Its a silly question! Only a person with no knowledge will work with the intention of saving a million pounds. In UK and most places, you don't even save to buy a house, so why save to have a million pounds? |

IjeBos: The truth is people will suffer and the US will suffer in the interim. Too much too lose. So, there isn't much to rejoice at, we still will have lost, just less if the Republicans aren't in power in 4 years. Unfortunately, suffer and loss is what the majority of voters elected. Its democracy, after all. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by budaatum: 2:15am On Feb 04, 2025 |
IjeBos: There is a possibility the next 2 elections. A lot of people voted because of economic conditions. If they get bad enough combined with the chaos, it will change votes. We should be rejoicing if we think dump's policies are bad for the economy then, if winning is what is wanted. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the future will tell. |

IjeBos: Yeah. I don't believe the whole "people will figure it" out will work. It didn't this past election. Too many people don't believe in learning and too much false information out there. I don't expect "people will figure it out" for the next 2 elections at least. So I hope you understand the task ahead and hence why resource should not be wasted. budaatum: There you go. But don't be surprised if people vote for the same party again and for a while, just as Nigerians elected APC's Tinubu after 8 years moaning about APC's Buhari. |

I think people have to live it firsthand before they understand the consequences of their votes. There you go. But don't be surprised if people vote for the same party again and for a while, just as Nigerians elected APC's Tinubu after 8 years moaning about APC's Buhari. |

IjeBos: That politics is over. Dems have to fight back and stop believing that Republicans will ultimately do the right thing. After Trump, they had an opportunity to put new laws in place to fortify the norms and hold Trump account for what he did. They talked, debated and dithered until Trump won office and is now wholesale destroying the US government as it was. Dems are hopefully not so stupid they'd think the current maga Republicans would do the right things, and instead hope the people see what magarepubs do and choose the better things. |

descartes400: Iran(5000) , North Korea(2000), Belarus(1500) , Syria (3000) Russia( more than 20,000) are used to sanctions.
Russia is the most sanctioned country in the world today. None of the EU countries economy can withstand sanctions from more than 50 countries like Russia. Dump still got to impose 2.0 tariffs on some country and I nominate my own UK, and Ghana. I'd like to include Nigeria but we don suffer what I'd call 'internal tariffs' already, and I don't want to be attacked by the starvers. |

They would rather keep losing to fascists, than listen to leftists with a game plan like Bernie. They must consider if Bernie will be listened to. A lot if not most Americans will label him commie. I am a defender of Blue patience, note. |

Finquas: Exactly bro.. are we not better off if Trump buys Nigeria and we become Citizens of the greatest country on Earth ? USA already bought thousands of you in the past, and while you might seem better off today, you were in chains for a very long period and are still almost second class citizens today. Personally, I wouldn't want to live in a Nigeria bought by anyone. |

This is South Africa telling dump to go do one. And for our own dignity, I hope Nigeria tells him the same if he oversteps boundaries. Rebuker: On Monday, while speaking, the South African president said:
"This issue that Trump fears so much—we offered this portion of the land. I don't know what Donald Trump wants to do with South African land because he has never been here. He should keep his America, and we will keep our South Africa. South Africa is our land; it belongs to all the people who live here, not to Donald Trump. He can keep his America. |

HardMirror: I find it funny that people think any country will defeat USA. Soon Mexico and Canada will bend to Trump. If only every country could have a president that is as serious as Trump, the world would have been a better place. Let everyone go and develop their country and put their country first. Mexico is fighting trump instead of being ashamed that their country is so bad that people are running to USA illegally. I don't see how you think it is a good thing that countries bend to bullies. Not all will bend in the end, and even if some countries' leaders bend don't mean the people always will. |

He should know it's a debt trap. Ask Sri Lanka. There was an agreement for Panama canal to be permanently neutral which I think is Trump's starting point. An old English friend used to tell me to be concerned about China taking over in Nigeria. I told him he thinks we haven't learnt anything from Europe's exploitation, and think we are still dumb so China can exploit us. You say you consider all sides. Show me. Critics of the BRI accuse China of pursuing a policy of ‘debt-trap diplomacy’: luring poor, developing countries into agreeing unsustainable loans to pursue infrastructure projects so that, when they experience financial difficulty, Beijing can seize the asset, thereby extending its strategic or military reach. This paper demonstrates that the evidence for such views is limited. https://www.chathamhouse.org/2020/08/debunking-myth-debt-trap-diplomacy/4-sri-lanka-and-bri |
