“When I lost my last match, Nigerians were the people who trolled me and made mockery of me. Learn to show love to those losing, not only those winning.

“Those at the bottom need love, care, and support more than those at the top. When someone is falling, hold them; don’t wait to make a mockery of them. They are my people, and I love them still.
This is a huge indictment from Joshua.

He's basically accusing of leaving him "without honor in his own town among his relatives and in his own home” because he lost.

We'd hopefully learn to love more.

Logic, in the context I used it, means everything outside belief due to subjective pessonal experience of the supernatural, instinct, or faith. All you have described come under that. When in fact Atheists and evolutionist also base their belief on faith.
Logic, in the generally understood context, is the study of correct reasoning. But if you want words to mean what you say they mean, perhaps you'd be minded to include your meanings in your context to avoid being misunderstood.

PoliteActivist:
How do you know there is no God - before you answer consider that you don't know anythimg
First, your "anythimg", by which I will assume you mean anything.

Do note that I have put words together letter by letter and in an order for you to read and understand. That putting of words together requires the knowledge of a something which I would not be able to do if I did not know anything. Therefore, your consideration is emphatically denied. Also note that my denial applies to you to, because it is obvious you must know something.

Now, how do I know there are no gods?

Through the study of gods from all over the world basically. I read the books of and about many of the gods dead and alive, and came to the knowledge and understanding that all gods are created by human beings and peddled to people through indoctrination.

It's fascinating learning really. And it helps one understand better the world one lives in and the people who live in it and how capable we are at creating.

According to the agency's 25-year roadmap, part of its targets was to launch a Nigerian astronaut in space and an indigenous satellite from Nigerian soil by 2025.
So, basically, 25 years ago in 1999, Nigeria planned to launch a Nigerian astronaut in space and an indigenous satellite from Nigerian soil by 2025, but so far we do not have an airline?

Makes me wonder what we think of our selves.

Exactly. Religionists are same way too, by the way, sometimes to an annoying degree, only that they don't claim to base everything on logic!
You assume too much. Non-religionists do not base everything on logic or on any one thing!

Basing everything on one thing is like basing everything on one god, which is precisely the point the non-religionist is trying to make you understand they do not do.

I am a non-religionist, which I will define as there are no gods. I do not base everything on logic because I also base things on my knowledge and understanding of the experiences I have had which is extensive but not all that can be known, and on my ability to think and reason, which is why my learning continues to improve my abilities.

Democracy and the choice of who to vote is usually sentimental and might depend on how you perceive someone vs the other

Some people just trust Trump more
Fewer at the last election, I dare say, and I bet more and more trust him less considering all he's done since.

Democracy is not "usually sentimental" for many. In fact, for some it's very intellectual, and it requires knowledge and understanding and all. You wouldn't here claim your own democratic preference is sentimental, so why assume that of others (apart from dumpists) is sentimental?

It's not perception for everyone, Raud. Some make their democratic choices based on what they actually see with their very own eyes.

Maybe they decided name calling you is not as important as Money to feed your family
Oh yes, the polls. The same polls we once trusted so much when it told us our darling Hillary would be the President of America.

Maybe the polls are right again I guess, but it's elections that decide in the end.

As for money to feed your family. I doubt we should be that broke that feeding our family with money is a concern when we should be feeding them knowledge too. But note my leftism. If you can't feed them food and knowledge, consider not getting pregnant, or aborting please if you've irresponsibly fuqed.

People abort for different reasons married people actually abort more. Women are more likely to be swayed by social issues while men who have to feed a family pay more attention to economic issues

You are more likely to sit in front of TV monitoring your stock market portfolio while a woman is likely to be more concerned about the issues of school choices for her kids
So, women are more likely to be swayed by social issues that concern them like the issues of school choices for her kids, while men, to feed a family, sit in front of TV monitoring their stock market portfolio and pay more attention to economic issues?

While, that's not what you said exactly, I am certain that the woman's social issues includes feeding her kids food too as well as knowledge that will empower them to feed themselves. I mean, sometimes, especially with inflation in the market, the money her man may provide might just not be enough. As a point, Indomi is now ₦17000 I hear, and no one got a pay rise.

I think those men should get off their lazy asses and get a job to feed their family, but I might think that's because I am liberal and leftish and very awoke indeed enough to know that watching the weather is not sowing.

The thing about this election is that both candidates have had 4yrs of show workings. Voters can now decide what issues concern them
Some think its Economy, some its immigration, some its abortion, some its democracy, some its foreign policy

If these polls are right. Its something that should worry Biden.
Hispanics used to be pretty secure for Democrats are moving, Same with many demographics
Think. One party is denying birthers, and calls asylummees rapists and terrorists, and wants to build a wall to keep them out, while the other is being accused of going to their homeland to invite them in in hoards.

Do you think a poll claiming we prefer the former accurately shows how we might feel, or is it more like a poll showing Igbos will vote for Tinubu?

One thing I noticed though all their wives stated they will be voting Biden because of Abortion rights but the guys said Economy and jobs are of a bigger concern to them than anything else.

I can understand this. The biggest concern for any man is economy and how to feed his family. Anything that threatens that makes him very worried

Different voters have different things that bother them
You yourself have stated above that the "biggest concern for any man" is not the biggest concern for the women who are their wives, and that "Different voters have different things that bother them".

Democracy is majority rule, at it's very basics. And some of us are hoping that enough people (men and women) would be happy enough about the economy, and that enough women would convince their husbands not to vote for an abortion rights denier.

raumdeuter, I don't think your friends wives are stupid, nor your friends for that matter. And I bet none of them would consider an abortion at the stage of life they are at. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if none or only a tiny few have ever aborted, and I'd bet they've educated their daughters and even their sons to avoid whatever would make aborting an option. So, why do you think they support abortion rights so much?

I will support you if you educate your children instead of leaving their education to some others. Though, saying that, I do worry that you might educate them to be si like you but since you stay away, that fear is lessened.

Pay school fees for you children and join the teacher-parent association of your kid's school or encourage their mother to join please so that the wrong that you are can be corrected in them.

Please don't turn into another LordReed on us - master of the obvious. The language has been "selected" and "selected for" since 1859 till today - used by all professors and experts in the field, from Darwin till now. ONLY you and Reed think it implies that something or someone is going about selecting!🙄
In your world "as if" and "It may be said" don't exist! (Which is language Darwin used below)
"It may be said" does not mean it is so or even meant to be so.

I have just one question for you. Did Darwin give you the impression that he believes in the existence of a Selector?
Christianity Etc › Re: What Makes A True Christian? by budaatum: 3:36pm On Mar 13, 2024
Michael547:
How can you possibly say that contradictions in religions does not mean they are not true if you are sincere to yourself?, if the bible has contradictions as you claimed, then it can never be true.
That depends on your definition of "true".

'Thou shalt not steal', is morally true. Thou shalt not murder, is morally true. Love your neighbour, is morally true. The earth was created in 6 days is contradicted by the evidence and literally untrue, but still teaches the creation process that many successfully follow.

Michael547:
Do you actually think we can achieve peace on earth of we don't agree on the standard of what is good and bad?
Religion, Christianity specifically, teaches how to use ones own senses and how to treat ones neighbours, and as soon as people understand that instead of thinking it's a map to some imaginary heaven, we will start building that heaven right here on earth where the lions amongst us will not eat the lambs amongst us.

So yes. I do you actually think we can achieve peace on earth, because the aṣshøles will evolve or die and the pure of heart will thrive. Achievement date is the year 5023.

Michael547:
So are you saying that all religions on earth today are a force for peace love and Joy?
If yes, why do we have crisis in the world today?
I wish I could say that all "religions" on earth today are a force for peace love and Joy, and I would in fact say that if the religion was based on the proper understanding of the relevant religious books, but I can't disregard those who twist the books to line their own pockets and create crisis in the world. There will always be TBJoshua's, unfortunately.

But I am certain that people themselves will read the book and seek understanding, and then use their religious understanding to create peace on earth. I have stated a tentative when, above, only because we humans can be slow to evolve from stupidity to enlightenment.

Bandwagon mentality. I remember back in 2014 when I would open threads to teach people about the potential of bitcoin only for some moderator to delete them. At that time, very few people knew about crypto in Nigeria or anywhere in the world even. A lot of people could've also bought when it was $200 or less. Notwithstanding, this is still a change in the right direction. I can't fault them too much as even many world renowned Noble Prize winners in economics also denounced bitcoin. Famous billionaires, financial analysts and bank CEOs called it a ponzi scheme or fraud. I guess Nairaland felt they were protecting the masses. It's all good, we are still heading up and If you have a long term horizon, everyday is a buying opportunity for bitcoin.
Forgive me. I reminded myself.
