I think my family has grown past the stage where it would be improving its finance by literally farming.

You see. I learnt from my parents who themselves were not farmers (their parents were), that if I put a seed in the ground and tend it well, it can produce a thousand fold crop. So I farmed the seed that is my family and it has produced a million fold crop. And the 'produce of my farming' are farming the seed that is their family and I'm certain they would produce crops many more times fold than mine.

Basically, my parents evolved from their parents and farmed us, and my children have so evolved from me that literal farming is not what we do to improve our finances. It's a hobby I do like though, I confess. And one to learn a lot from.

There's lots of men and women in the world, and they are not all strong, and lots of them get married for various reasons to strong or weak or responsible and irresponsible partners, so there.

As for your "carry this your mentality into marriage", perhaps I should introduce you to my grandchildren so you can tell them this, though I must say, they are all very strong men and women already.

This must have been my parent's philosophy when they were birthing us.

We mostly grew up in Lagos so farmland we had none, but we still grew our own vegetables and some cassava, yam, maize, pepper and bitter leaf on the little patch we had, and I can't forget how our biscuit was pawpaws of which we had loads.

My kids though, would think all food comes from a supermarket, except for the spinach we grew in the garden, and the apples and pear trees.

Farming is the one thing I miss not being home. It's sort of been replaced with ubereats or a trip to a restaurant.

I too think he should have learnt from his mother, but his "slavery a choice" made me doubt he had, and the way he paraded his new wife confirmed his insanity.
