You can't use you and I as examples because the relationship between us doesn't equate the relationship between the lord and the inhabitants of the garden. Besides the lord said, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” The bolded being a warning about the harm the fruit would cause.
First, let us get one thing clear, "Besides the lord said" nothing! The truth is we read in a book that some people wrote that the Lord said those things.

You mean, the relationship is not that I created you and therefore own you? I fully agree.

Why would they die if they "eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil"? Is it not a lack of knowledge that kills?

What harm did the fruit cause, Unknown?

I am not claiming the text implied, unknown. I, buda, inferred, from the text, with my own heart and soul and mind and being.

I have asked you a few times now but you seem to avoid it. If you are placed in the garden of eden and told not to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, please tell me the state your being would be in.

Well, I can not claim my own understanding is "grasping the actual meaning and intents of the authors”, unknown. I do not have the powers to go read minds of authors who died thousands of years ago and I do no have the hubris to assume my understanding is the "actual meaning and intents of the authors".

You act as if you didn’t make up the slave part in your head.
Of course I made it up in my head! The text does not describe them as slaves after all, I buda did.

If i put you in my garden and say don't acquire knowledge, will I be making you my slave, Unknown?

KnownUnknown:
Yes, they did eventually die regardless if its 800 or 8000 years. Just like you made them slaves even though the text doesn’t call or imply slavery, I can make up slow acting poison that killed them 800 years later.
Besides, this is not my interpretation of the story. I’m just doing the same thing you do.
I do not agree that you are doing the same thing I did, known. I am describing a state I think Adam and Eve were placed in while you are creating imaginary poisons that slowly kill in "800 or 8000 years". But if you think we are doing the same thing I will need to rest till we have reflected on our conversation so far.

Understanding just means grasping the actual meaning and intents if the authors.
No, Known, it doesn't just "means grasping the actual meaning and intents if the authors", though the two are often conflated.

I read what you write and have an understanding or ask questions, but you know that I can not fully "grasp the actual meaning and intents of the author" you who is before me not to talk of "the actual meaning and intents of the authors" of a book written some 2000 odd years ago, and if I say I do "grasp the actual meaning and intents of the authors" please stone me!

What I am stating is the understanding that I have gotten through my own asking and seeking and knocking for it with my own heart and soul and mind and being, and it would be silly of me to assume everyone has done only the same amount of seeking I did or no more than I have done and have not come to their own understanding, which is why I am here, Unknown, to state my own understanding and to hear your understanding. And trust me. If I find your understanding supersedes my own understanding or increases my understanding, I will abandon my understanding if need be and adopt your understanding or add your understanding to my understanding to booster my own understanding. Except that I am fully aware how much seeking I have done and can easily identify the difference in understandings.

Whilst one can not "grasp the actual meaning and intents of the authors", some grasp the fruit of what they wrote.

The old testament is even worse than the new testament. An almighty God requiring animal sacrifice, what make him dfr from Ogun? Or sango? He orders his children- israel ......
Not true, Sir. The truth is that you read it in a book, same as an Ogun or Sango worshipper would claim to have heard it in iron or thunder if we wrote books about it. And therein lies the beauty of the book in explaining early human nature, after all, it has numerous stories of talking serpents and bushes and fires and angels and demons and things for you to learn about human use of the mind and its evolution.

No God ordered anyone. People of those days just thought so because they had not yet discovered their own mind. Yet, we should delight in the record of their journey and avoid the mistakes they made.

I never said anything you are claiming. I didn't tell you not to call it understanding so why are you up in arms because I called it your interpretation when you can't show your interpretation to be the intended meaning anyway.
I am not claiming my understanding is the intended meaning, and that's why I make a distinction between interpretation and understanding. Interpretation implies that the text is only saying what I claim, while my understanding is entirely my own, errors included.

I trust you, you see. I trust that you can read the text yourself and see that the huge job that the humans created in Genesis 1 were written to have been given requires that they eat the fruits of trees of knowledge because if they don't, they could not possibly be in the image of the powerful intelligent creating God that we read created them nor would they be up to the task they were given because they would not have had the knowledge for it. I also expect it is obvious that Genesis 2 Adam and Eve have been demoted to naked gardeners, from "be fruitful rule over" Genesis 1 humans.

Known. If I put you in a garden, naked, and say, don't eat the fruits of knowledge, would I not be enslaving you?

And if I told you you'd surely die on the day you do eat it, have I not lied if you don't die that day?

What do you mean understanding?
Understanding is a comprehension gotten through the in depth study of a thing.

With religious texts, for instance, a deeper understanding would be gotten by those who consider the text historically, sociologically, mythologically, anthropologically, hermeneutically, philosophically, psychologically, mindfully, spiritually, humanely, etc etc etc, than one who reads the text and merely believes it.

You are the one treating your interpretation like a fact so maybe you're believing like ignorant Adam.

I can say it was poison in the fruit that triggered the decay that eventually killed them just like you can say that they were slaves in the garden to prove your point.
We are discussing what we can both clearly read in a book, unknown. Not what we make up in our heads, but if you want to convince yourself "poison in the fruit that triggered the decay that eventually killed them" 800 or so years after they ate it, so be it for you, but pease know I do not hold that understanding with you.

KnownUnknown:
Isn't the above supporting the claim that's its an allegory for pursuing knowledge/wisdom?
The story is also more than the eating of the fruit but your interpretation doesn't take that into account. Also, she saw that it was desirable for gaining wisdom prior to eating it.
It is way more than just an allegory to me, is my own point. And my so called interpretation as you see it, has not yet begun to cover my understanding of it which you have not yet explored, mind.

KnownUnknown:
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
Now, does that not sound like they got smarter, to you? They even made clothes of fig leaves to cover their ignorance, or rather, unclothedness.

Budaatum replying to your wiki quote
You knew I'd ask, lol.

First, a memorandum, and not an agreement. And for what Ukraine did not control

Until then, Ukraine had the world's third-largest nuclear weapons stockpile,[3][4] of which Ukraine had physical but no operational control. Russia controlled the codes needed to operate the nuclear weapons through electronic Permissive Action Links and the Russian command and control system, although from 1992 Ukraine had physical access to some of the warheads but no ability to launch them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum_on_Security_Assurances
Compared your "memorandum" to "as presented in a statement to the House of Commons by the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain on 31 March 1939 (formalized by the British on 6 April 1939; not ratified until 4 September 1939 by the French" and tell me which is toothless.

Japan only surrendered when they saw the damage of the nukes.

Hitler does not have nukes, it is easy to confront him. Thats my point. If russia does not have nukes, the US wont sanction them, they will be bombing them as they have done to other nation that does not have nukes. All this one you are saying support ukraine is getting is nothing new. Iraq got support from anti war protesters all over the world against the US. The guys who usually bomb always get the protest against them.

If US want to really do something, they should do like the British did in 1942 to help poland.
Ben, Iraq did not get the support Ukraine is getting! The people who wanted to bomb Iraq are the people against Putin! And 1942 is like waiting till 2025 since "the United Kingdom declared war on Germany on 3 September 1939, two days after Germany invaded Poland. France also declared war on Germany later the same day".

8 months after Germany invaded Poland, note, and not a week after Ukraine was invaded.

See reasons below.

Two Western powers, the United Kingdom and France, gave guarantees to Poland that they would declare war if Polish independence came under threat, as presented in a statement to the House of Commons by the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain on 31 March 1939 (formalized by the British on 6 April 1939; not ratified until 4 September 1939 by the French):

... in the event of any action which clearly threatened Polish independence, and which the Polish Government accordingly considered it vital to resist with their national forces, His Majesty's Government would feel themselves bound at once to lend the Polish Government all support in their power. They have given the Polish Government an assurance to this effect. I may add that the French Government have authorised me to make it plain that they stand in the same position in this matter as do His Majesty's Government.[4]

Understanding the allegory is the cure to the blindness.
I'd say, "understanding the text", since calling it an allegory kind of implies anything but. After all, it could be a story or mythology too, or "the foundation of religious belief" of some, though, to me it's words in a book to be understood.

KnownUnknown:
Neither were using their senses if you are referring to critical thinking because they are both presented as simpletons to be commanded.

The fruit could as well have been poisoned. It could have triggered the decay that eventually killed them.
But it wasn't poisoned nor triggered the decay that eventually killed them, so what's your point?

Should they not have bothered to check instead of making "could have" crap up in their own heads?

KnownUnknown:
It’s not like they got smarter after eating the fruit.
Is that your own understanding of the following:

"When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom".

I can't see how your allegory lense or any lense at all makes you think that's not "smarter".

KnownUnknown:
So one can say that the fruit was poisonous and that Eve clearly wasn’t “using her senses”.
There are indeed people on this earth who say that the fruits of trees of knowledge are poisonous, but usually they eat it themselves and deprive others of it's benefits, to wit Christ is written to have said, Woe!

If NATO is a protection as you think, they would av easily protect Ukraine and there is nothing Russia could do. But that's not how protection works when it comes to nuclear war.

If Ukraine joins NATO, Russia can still destroy the Nation if they want, NATO will fight back but they also is not immune from taking serious damage which is why they don't seem to be looking for a fight.

Putin too does not want a fight with NATO. If he knows someone in NATO who will fight regardless or who is so unpredictable, he won't dare to enter Ukraine.
Your two paragraphs contradict.

Putin destroying a "Ukraine joins NATO" would have evoked the same reaction Hitler got when he launched an invasion of Poland that triggered the start of World War II.

The fear of gods deters some from their worst inclinations and some invoke gods to justify their worst inclinations. Still, some will chose to obey or disobey regardless of god while some discount god altogether. Do you think there is a difference between modern and olden times?
No. Some still fear gods while some don't give a damn just like in olden times.

KnownUnknown:
Is Adam a good example to illustrate your point?
If you take Adam to be literal, I can understand the fear of god making him uphold “the law”. If you take Adam as allegory then what you wrote is just your interpretation.
I do think Adam is a very good example of religious ignorance however you wish to take it. Other examples would have been How Almanjeris are Created, or Plato's Cave, where the ignorant cave dwellers prefer their ignorance, but I prefer to stick to a common text here

Adam ignorantly believed (as in, he never bothered to check if) he would die on the day that he eats of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which would have opened his eyes and given him wisdom so he could have freed himself from slavery. Thankfully, Eve was his exact opposite.

Do note that taking it as allegory or literally is blindness. You don't have such problems when you read Things Fall Apart you'd find, and should wonder why.

And yes, you may call it my own interpretation, which is based on my own understanding, as opposed to what one might have been told to ignorantly believe. Hopefully, you don't mind me using my own mind to understand what I read.

KnownUnknown:
In your interpretation you say Adam didn’t use his senses but is that accurate?
In your own opinion, did Adam use his senses?

Did Eve use her senses?

KnownUnknown:
Adam chose to obey the lord while Eve chose to obey the serpent in the heat of the moment. If the serpent had accosted Adam instead of Eve, what makes you think he wouldn’t have “used his senses”?
Poor ignorant obedient Adam. Do you know he also believed Eve was his rib? Makes me wonder about the serpent to be honest. Poor Eve sits there using her own mind to think and reason, but the 'men' who wrote the story tell you a serpent spoke to her and you believe it.

If Adam had used his senses he would have been far too busy Being fruitful and increasing in number; filling the earth and subduing it. Ruling over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground", and wouldn't have been enslaved and naked in the tiny poxy Garden of Eden by some lord who desired his ignorance.

For starters, the suspension of Nord Stream 2 will be a lot more painful for Germany than for Russia if the pipeline remains suspended over the longer term. The point of Nord Stream 2 was to increase gas flows to Germany as the country shuts down its nuclear and coal power plants. So if there is no pipeline, Germany would have to replace the cheap pipeline gas with costlier LNG.

As for Russia’s pain, Gazprom recently sealed a deal with China to double the capacity of its Power of Siberia gas pipeline that delivers gas to northern China. Over the short term, the stranding of the $12-billion Nord Stream 2 project would be unpleasant, but it won’t be the end of Gazprom.

But why did nobody sanction Russian oil or gas or metals? First, there are a lot of big, important Western companies working in Russian oil and gas and metals. Second, Russia is a major global commodity supplier and sanctions would disrupt an already shaken global economy.
