A Carpenter, Waheed Tiamiyu, on Thursday 1st June, 2017 prayed an Igando Customary Court sitting in Lagos to dissolve his 13-year-old marriage to his wife, Bukola over alleged infidelity and suicide threats.

According to Daily Post, narrating his ordeal before the court, the 45yrs old man said his wife, with whom he had three children, was in the habit of threatening to commit suicide without provocation. According to Tiamiyu:

[i]“My wife is always threatening to kill herself; she has attempted suicide on four occasions. “She once threatened to jump down from our balcony, I dragged her back and started begging her. “The second was when she wanted to drink kerosine, the third was when she came to my room with a belt tied around her neck, she climbed a chair and wanted to tie the belt to the ceiling fan.

“The fourth was when she wanted to fall into a well, I wondered what will happen if I have not intervened by begging her not to kill herself on each of these four instances.’’

Accusing his wife of infidelity, the Carpenter said, “There is a particular man that always called my wife, he can call 20 times a day. I secretly saved the number from my wife’s phone without her knowledge.

“Whenever I asked my wife who the guy was, she always tells me that the guy is her sister’s boyfriend. “I called her sister and she denied knowing the man nor the phone number. “I later investigated and I discovered that her lover is a powerful person.

“Please, dissolve this marriage, I am not ready to die now.’’ He also claimed that his wife does not care for him, stressing that she cooks and gives him bad food, while she eats the good one. “My wife cooks my food and her own food separately. She will put assorted meat in her pot of soup and cook a shoddy soup for me.

“She also refused to wash my clothes, anytime I gave her my clothes to wash, she always tells me to give them to my elder wife to wash,’’ he said.

[/i]Reacting to her husband’s allegation, Bukola said she only attempted suicide twice. Explaining why she attempted suicide, Bukola said, “I attempted suicide because my husband wanted to send me packing and I didn’t want to leave my children because I love them.”

She dismissed Tiamiyu’s claim of food, saying she gives him good food, whenever he dropped good money. The mother of four also denied having extra marital affairs, stressing that the man her husband was referring to was only a friend. She consented to the dissolution of the marriage because she was no longer interested in the union.

The president of the court, Adegboyega Omilola, consequently, adjourned the matter till June 28 for further hearing. Omilola, however, ordered the couple to come along with three family members each, for Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR, at the next adjourned date.

Ethiopia has taken a rather drastic measure to curb exam malpractice in this country. They shut down the internet on Tuesday (May 30) ahead of a scheduled national examination that was due to take place in the country on Wednesday.

Social media users noted that the internet service was interrupted from around 7 pm on Tuesday reportedly to prevent exam leaks. About 1.2 million students are taking the grade 10 national exams, with another 288,000 preparing for the grade 12 university entrance exams that will take place next week.

Sources in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa told Quartz the internet was reinstituted on Wednesday morning after more than a 12-hour shutdown. Others, however, said that the connection was still being interrupted, and was going on and off. “No connection at all. Everything was blocked,” Biniam Alemayehu said. Alemayehu told Quartz that his 4G phone connection didn’t start working until 9.30 am.

This is not the first time the Horn of Africa nation shut down social media outlets to prevent exam leakages. In July 2016, the government blocked social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Viber after university entrance exam questions were posted online. Getachew Reda, the government spokesperson at the time, said the blockade was a “temporary measure” given that social networks served as “a distraction” to students.

Ethiopia, which has one of the lowest internet and mobile connectivity rates in the world, was among the first countries to censor the internet to curtail political protests.

Since Nov. 2015, more than 500 anti-government protestors have been killed and thousands of others arrested while demanding land reform and an end to human rights violations. The government responded by declaring a state of emergency, shutting down the mobile internet, and banned the use of social media networks to document the ongoing unrest in the country. A Brookings Institution report showed that the shutdown cost the country’s booming economy millions of dollars in revenue.

Julie Owono, the executive director of the advocacy group Internet Sans Frontières said the latest shutdown was “unnecessary” and violated the digital rights of Ethiopians. Just this month, an Ethiopian court sentenced opposition politician Yonatan Tesfaye to six and half years in prison for Facebook posts he wrote criticizing the government.

Algeria’s government also took similar steps to Ethiopia’s in June 2016, when it blocked social media networks in order to fight cheating in secondary school exams.

A 19-year-old teen has been sentenced to death by village elders in Pakistan’s Punjab province for allegedly having an illicit relationship with her cousin after she accused him of raping her at gunpoint.

According to Hindustimes, the incident happened on Friday in Rajanpur, a rural district about 400 kilometres from provincial capital Lahore. Shumaila was said to have escaped from the village after she came to know of the panchayat’s decision and reported the matter to police.

The woman has denied having any illicit relationship with her cousin Khalil Ahmed and alleged that he raped her at gunpoint when she was sleeping at her house.

“I could not raise an alarm as Ahmed was holding a gun. But the panchayat refused to accept my statement and declared that I wilfully slept with him,” she told the police. The panchayat did not take action against Ahmed. Fearing for her life, she approached the police on Saturday. “We have registered a FIR against the panchayat members and will take them into custody for declaring her kaari (liable to death either by stoning or else),” Hasnain said.

The SHO of Fazilpur Police Station, Qaisar Hasnain, said Shumaila’s father said in a statement that he was forced to accept the panchayat’s decision.

“Since the panchayat declared her liable to be killed he had to accept the decision as it was the tradition of his village,” he said. The police have sent Shumaila to a government safe house for women in Rajanpur.

“Honour” killings and death sentences are usually sanctioned through the panchayat system in Pakistani villages, but they have no legal standing.

Marriage this days is simply a 'word of mouth' as neither the male or female counterpart respect the institution. It is worst when related to celebrities because marriage is like 'boyfriend girlfriend' stuff to them.

Corpers are no exception. According to reports, a mild drama occurred at the Plateau State orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the Mangu area of the state as two newly sworn-in corps members were reportedly caught having s*x inside a gutter.

The corps members are both among the many young graduates that were recently sworn in for the Batch A Stream 1 for the compulsory one year national service. The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, May 30, 2017 when some camp soldiers on parade walked in on the duo in the middle of a heated s*x escapade.

The male corper blamed the devil for pushing him into the act while the lady who is reportedly married blamed the cold weather of the state for pushing her into the act. The lady whose identity withheld, stated that she finds it difficult to stay away from s*x for too long.

But in accordance to the law and the standards of the NYSC body, the erring corps members have been dismissed from the orientation camp.

No doubt, Bisola was so so angry with her bestie in big brother house, TTT. It will be noted that the first runner up of 2017 Big Brother Naija, Bisola Aiyeola and housemate, ThinTallTony have attended events together since after the house, but have never been seen together in a photo.

Recall that TTT despite his relationship with Bisola in the house didn’t tell her about his wife and kids, leaving her betrayed when she found out after the house.

Well, they attended the Cross Rivers @50 together with Kemen, Uriel, Debie-Rise, and Bassey, and took pictures standing far apart from each other during the dinner and while leaving the state.

Though they too pictures together this time, but they are far apart. Question is, Is the beef still on?

I don't know if i should say this government are inconsequential f00ls or should i say they know exactly what they are doing.

How can u encourage whistle-blowers while u are here prosecuting those that their information turned out to be false?

I mean this people can blow and give credible information but before police will sweep-in, things might have changed and police self could even send information to the victim and ask him to clear their house cuz they are coming. These people are politicians and they have these police in their pocket. Police is corrupt. Abi government don't know that?

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, says President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has fulfilled its campaign promises to Nigerians. He stated this at the presentation of National Social Investment Programmes (N-SIP), report card event to mark the 2nd anniversary of Buhari’s administration in Abuja.

The theme of the report card presentation was ‘Showcasing the Achievements of National Social Investment Programmes: A Smile for Every Nigerian’.

He said through N-SIP, the federal government provided employment to 200,000 unemployed graduates, engaged 57,000 people through Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) and empowered about 26,000 ordinary Nigerians through Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT).

Mohammed said under the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), government was able to serve about 25 million meals to 1.2 million pupils all over the country in order to make learning conducive. He added that the APC federal government under its school feeding programme had employed at least 12,000 cooks across 36 states and the FCT.

“This is a government that promised and delivered on its promises and the unique thing about this particular N-SIP is that it has been achieved in an era when there has been no revenue,” he said. “It would have been a perfect excuse to say that because oil revenue dropped drastically, therefore, we are not able to deliver on our promises.

“But despite the dwindling revenue, we are able to deliver on our campaign promises and then this is not related just to the social investment programmes alone. “I am happy that we are here today to prove that this government is not a government of propaganda; this is a real government that is dealing with the real people.”

He said the programme was designed in such a way that it was easy and accessible to all Nigerians, adding “one of the unique selling points of the programmes is the transparency in it.” According to him, this is the first programme in the history of Nigeria that you do not need to know anybody before you can get enrolled.

“I am happy that many of the beneficiaries have testified to this and this is a new dawn,” he said. “My appeal to all the beneficiaries is to please let them not limit their testimonies to this hall please say it louder and clear at every time to all Nigerians. “Let Nigerians know how this government has impacted positively on your lives.”

The minister said that in spite of dwindling resource, since 2016 the federal government was able to add an additional $7 billion to its foreign reserves. He added that Buhari administration had been able to attract $500 million to the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF), and increased the Excess Crude $ 87 million.

No doubt Controversial CoolFm On-Air Personality Daddy Freeze hate the idea of tithing. He has in numerous times vigorously campaigned against the act of tithing prompting some men of God in Nigeria to even curse him. He said that paying tithe is NOT a Christian practice.

But in a new message, however, he has asked Christians who say they must tithe to buy baskets of fruits, provisions, foodstuffs etc and take them to a mosque near them this Ramadan, if they want to genuinely practice tithing.

Today, I have decided to teach on the controversial issue of tithing.

Although I have clearly explained that paying tithe is NOT a Christian practice, as Christians are the followers of Christ and Christ himself never paid or collected tithes, neither did his disciples, nor is there a single bible verse that shows were Christ instructed his followers to pay tithe; as a matter of fact Christ spoke more of alcoholic wine than of tithe, so I wonder how the modern day ‘tithe craze’ started.

As a matter of fact, Jesus only mentioned tithe once in the entire bible in MAT23:23 when he was chastising a Pharisee, saying they tithe on their herbs, but neglect the weightier matters of judgement and mercy (Kemi Olunloyo is still in prison but they collect tithe). Let’s remember that this same Christ was betrayed for money, not herbs.

So if we must tithe, let’s do it the way right way.

Let me start by casting some light on the favorite sheeple bible verse Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

This OLD testament bible verse instructs Jews to pay their tithes, not Christians – JEWS. Remember Christianity, which means ‘followers of Christ’, started with the disciples so there were NO CHRISTIANS in the Old Testament.

Malachi 3: 8-10 says pay tithe but doesn’t say how often, so for a more explicit illustration, let us visit Deuteronomy 14:22-29 where it is stated with utmost clarity that tithe, in the year of the tithe, belongs to Levites, orphans widows and strangers in equal measure.

By definition; a ‘stranger’ is a person whom one does not know or with whom one is not familiar. I personally believe that Muslims are strangers to us therefore qualify for the ‘strangers share’ of our tithe and what better time to give it to them than now, their holy month of Ramadan?

During the month of Ramadan, buy baskets of fruits, provisions, foodstuffs etc and take them to a mosque near you, if you want to genuinely practice tithing, the way Moses was instructed to, by the Lord himself. ~FRZ

Ooni of Ife, his Imperial Majesty Arole Oduduwa Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja was honoured with the presence of Miss Africa Great Britain 2016/17, Sarah Jegede as she paid a visit to the palace in Ile-Ife.

On Thursday, the 25th of May, Sarah and her team met with the Ooni to discuss her mission in the State of Osun and her homecoming. Also present were Miss Director, Dele Onabowu and the Chaperone and Manager, Adeline Sotinwa-Ike.

Sarah’s mission in Nigeria was to visit the students of St Mary’s Catholic School, Ilesa whom she had fundraised for in the UK. On Wednesday, the 24th of May, she met students and donated stationery and school bags to the 200 elementary students of this school.

Miss Africa Great Britain is open to all African girls between the ages of 17 and 34, residing in the United Kingdom and is a 3-time recipient of the BEFFTA Best Beauty Pageant in the UK Award.

This is indeed first of its kind and I don't know what this signifies. People have be left wondering what it is following a viral footage of a couple who were made to climb on their guests at their wedding ceremony in a bid to showcase their tradition.

Please which tradition is this? The wedding guests were made to lay on the ground as the newly wedded couple climbed on them – aided by their family members.
