FamilyCorper Divorces Her Husband In Jos, Refunds N80K Dowry by bumi10(op): 2:23pm On Jun 09, 2017
A Jos Upper Area Court on Thursday 8th June, 2017 dissolved the marriage between 27-year-old Rukayat Ahmed, an NYSC member, and Alkasim Ahmed, following a petition filed by the former.

Rukayat, a resident of Jos, had approached the court seeking the dissolution of the marriage on the grounds that she was no more in love with Alkasim.

The woman, who filed a direct complaint to the court, argued that such separation was permissible in Islamic law, “if the partners are no more in love and therefore unwilling to live together”. When the case was mentioned on May 25, the husband did not object to Rukayat’s demand.

At the resumption of hearing on the matter on Thursday, the Judge, Yahaya Ahmed, endorsed the separation of the couple and ordered the petitioner to refund the N80,000 paid as dowry by her husband, as applicable in Islamic law.

Rukayat immediately paid the money and walked away a free woman.

FYI
- Tell me if the story is not the fact that she has seen another man better and richer than her husband and that they are not on the same levels again. Tell me if this is not the main story. And if you think is not, were did she get 80K while their "alawe" na 20k per months...lol

PoliticsThe Drumbeats Of War In Nigeria, Avoidable - Renowned Criminologist Tope Oriola by bumi10(op): 1:28pm On Jun 09, 2017
The drumbeats of war are growing louder but we must not forget the underlying issues. IPOB and MASSOB are not trying to leave Nigeria because they hate non-Igbos; AYCF may have its issues with Igbos but the fountain of the disdain is largely socio-economic. I hope that Nigeria avoids the road to Rwanda.

The three-month ultimatum issued by the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) to the Igbos to leave Northern Nigeria by October 1, 2017 signals a real danger to the corporate existence of Nigeria. The statement was issued inside Arewa House, a symbolic edifice in the North. Those who drafted the document appeared intentionally vitriolic and the diction contains what may be considered as hate speech. The AYCF statement was not issued in a vacuum.

The activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) had gathered momentum, fueled by the clueless decision to incarcerate Nnamdi Kanu. That singular decision had inadvertently produced a catalytic effect on the agitations of IPOB and MASSOB. The Nigerian state’s penchant for exacerbating conflict and the carousel of social injustice have been on overdrive for a while.

Regardless of where anyone stands on the issues, I hope we are sufficiently informed not to take sides with any of the two categories of extremists. Nevertheless, what we must all reckon with is that Nigeria is not working in its current format. There is no way to state that diplomatically. The trans-generational deception about national unity, the failure to ensure reconciliation and reconstruction of Igboland after the civil war, the consistent snub over memorialising the civil war, mounting socio-economic problems, state ineptitude in nearly all areas and a bitterly fought presidential contest in 2015 have all contributed to a toxic, non-rational and ethnocentric political atmosphere.

Make no mistakes about it: There are those who condemn IPOB or AYCF because their livelihoods are threatened by their pronouncements and actions. The present structure of Nigeria works for such people and breakup would signal the end of their stomach infrastructure. We are correct to condemn acidic statements on both sides but we must grapple with the underlying issues. I am deeply suspicious of people who claim that “national unity is non-negotiable”. It is no coincidence that those who often say that are former or current political office holders. No country is a naturally occurring phenomenon. All countries are human creations and humans can decide to go their separate ways.

However, those who are beating the drums of war should be careful what they wish for. Violent disintegration is a tricky business. How does AYCF intend to deal with the vacuum that would be created in the event of mass exodus of Igbos? Have you done a scientific scenario-building on the costs and benefits? How would such an exercise be conducted without resorting to violence? For those seeking secession: Do you have the means to be fully independent? How do you plan to deal with investments in other parts of Nigeria?

"Societies have moods and tend to be firmly set on certain trajectories. I believe we are drawing closer to bowing to demands for restructuring Nigeria, a sovereign national conference and/or referendum on our union. The consequence of ignoring all three options is unimaginable."

The acting president needs to address the country on these serious threats. Statements by the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), the Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) and the Kaduna state government are a good start. However, the Nigerian government needs to convince all constituent parts seeking separation why they are better off in the union.

The “marginalisation of everyone” in Nigeria has led to a dangerous blame game and feeling that all social problems would be solved if we got rid of our neighbours. The real issues at stake are the inequality in Nigeria, nepotism, poor infrastructure and the dream-shattering perpetual recession that have combined to produce millions of unemployed and alienated youth across both sides of River Niger. The Nigerian state’s incapacity to fulfil the basic obligations of a state is the real issue.

It is quite entertaining that the “youth” who read the AYCF statement would be at least 50 years old. Nigeria has either failed him or he has refused to grow up. Similarly disenchanted persons form the secessionist core in the South-East. We would be making a grave error of judgement to presuppose that they are all simply crazy people. They signal to us that more than ever before, there is an urgent need to discuss the terms and conditions of our union. The government must deploy state security apparatus to ensure that no blood is shed in any part of the country while constructively engaging all sides in dialogue.

Societies have moods and tend to be firmly set on certain trajectories. I believe we are drawing closer to bowing to demands for restructuring Nigeria, a sovereign national conference and/or referendum on our union. The consequence of ignoring all three options is unimaginable. In the book, Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty, Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson offer strong evidence on the reasons behind differential outcomes for similarly situated countries such as South and North Korea and socio-culturally identical border cities such as Sonora, Mexico and Sonora, Arizona in the US.

The authors argue that inclusiveness in decision-making is a key reason why South Korea has prospered, while North Korea remains impoverished, even though they went their separate ways only fairly recently. Acemoglu and Robinson also demonstrate that unwillingness of a small group of leaders to change and allow the rise of an open society (where talents find expression and creativity is rewarded) stifle economic prosperity. That should sound familiar in a society in which only well-connected people can obtain employment in key state agencies and businesses like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Failure to open up society to new actors and allow human ingenuity to flourish may result in collapse, as the Soviets found out a little too late in 1991.

Politics90 Days Quit Notice: Asari Dokubo Asks Igbos To Defend Themselves by bumi10(op): 12:48pm On Jun 09, 2017
Following the call for Igbos to leave the North by the Coalition of Northern Youths (CNY), the former militant leader, Asari Dokubo has called on Igbos living in the North to defend themselves in case of an attack.

According to Dokubo said:

“My brothers and Sisters, fellow Biafrans, our struggle is for independence. Let me say this to Biafran People, our struggle is not to take from any other people. We have not traveled to the North, Lagos, Ibadan to take from any other people.

“They are the ones who have been taken from us. In our entire struggle for the actualization of the Independent State of Biafra, we have not invaded other people’s land. We have always reacted strength to strength. “We have the right to defend our lives; we have the rights to defend our properties and we have the right to defend motherland. In the defense of the motherland, we have made some great sacrifices.

“For me the Biafra struggle is not limited to one of the nationalities in Biafran land. It is the struggle of the Ibibios, the Ogonis, Oron, the Ijaws, and all the Biafran people. It is our collective struggle and collective destiny. Our resources are being wasted.

“It is not even used to develop any part of this so-called Nigerian state. Where is Nigeria developed? Can you compare any part of Nigeria to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, or Pitoria? Or Cairo or Alexandra? The only way we can get control our resources is the independent of the Biafra state.”

According to Pulse News, notable Nigerians have however condemned the ultimatum issued by the group, the latest being the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed statement as he told Nigerians that security operatives are handling the issue.

CelebritiesMalaysian Based Nigeria Big Boy Hushpuppi Reacts To Dammy Krane's Arrest by bumi10(op): 1:30pm On Jun 05, 2017
Following the arrest of Nigerian singer, Dammy Krane, Nigerians have been giving out all sorts of advices to Hushpuppi, the Nigerian big boy who lives in Malaysia.

Since many Nigerians have no clue about the kind of business the Malaysian big boy does, some of them took it upon themselves to warn him as scores predict that he may be the next Nigerian in line to be exposed.

Dammy Krane who was arrested in the United States for grand theft and fraud was said to have tried out up to five credit cards in an attempt to pay for a transaction.

One of Hushpuppi’s fans took to his Instagram page to warn him about lavish lifestyle after he posted a picture of himself and a white guy sleeping on a private jet.

The concerned fan warned him about his activity citing the embattled Nigerian singer as an example. Hushpuppi then replied the young man by saying he does not do his transactions using credit cards.
He then told him that all his transactions are paid for in cash.

PoliticsRe: "The Goals They Want To Achieve With New Biafra" - Tanko Yaksai by bumi10(m):
MetaPhysical:
This thread is new, not even half a page yet and Ibos are already racing off Yakasai's comment to spew hatred. For once, listen to what the man said in this interview, you are behaving in exact pattern the interview was scripted to influence your emotions. Is he god? What makes you believe that these things he said about Yoruba and Akwa Ibom and Cross River people against you are true? Why is he not talking about the various ways in which North has betrayed Ibo or as Sultan of Sokoto recently admitted, "they killed Ibo in North necause they invaded their communities and set up trades and became affluent".

Do not surrender your emotions to his words, stay strong and wave him off. This article does nothing to subtract or add to your struggle, Yakassai cannot move biafra forward or ret.ard your progress. So why respond with hatred to those who you truly need to aid your mission.

This time around make it mission accomplished, not mission impossible!
I understand were u r coming from and I echo ur sentiments. I want u to also understand were ibos are coming from and why they r sentimental to this thread.

The Ibo has known for years that the ND's are betrayals especially akwa-ibom, and it was because of them that Nigerians surrounded the Biafrans from our own backyard which led to the surrendering. At least my dad who was an ex soldier couldn't be biased when he told me one of his war stories back in the day.

Secondly, Ibos also know that Yorubas are 'snakes', sorry to use that word. They cannot be trusted and Ibo know this for years now and learned the hard way. They are even one of the reason why Biafra was declared.

So please forgive the Ibos for being sentimental on this thread. They are just surprised that a Northerner whom has always been known for their lies could come out and speak the truth.

And make no mistake, while most of the things he said is true, many of his assertion are also serious lies and can only mean deception. How can one say Igbos like Hausa? That is a lie from the pit of hell. I mean Igbos are not Yoruba that hide their feels. We make our feelings known.

Buhari was so surprised that he didnt get 1% votes from Igbos. anyi anachi

CrimeWickedness: Woman Hires Assassins To Kill Friend Who Borrowed Her N7million by bumi10(op): 6:53pm On Jun 02, 2017
How can people be this heartless? A woman’s diabolic strategy to not paying the N7 million she owed her business partner has landed her in police custody in the Ashanti Region, Ghana.

According to reports, Madam Joyce Antwi borrowed N7 million from her business partner to enable her expand her business – her deadline to return the loan was fixed for April 2017. Rather than pay back the loan, Madam Joyce made arrangements to assassinate the lender.

Police say Madam Joyce Antwi hired an assassin to kill her business partner Instead of paying back the owed sum, she hired a man she thought was an assassin for N365, 000 to kill the business partner.

Antwi paid an advance fee of N150,000 to the man and showed him the house of her business partner. With a promise to pay the balance as soon as the job was done. She then advised him to carry out the killing in the afternoon when her business partner’s husband and children would not be at home.

CelebritiesSinger Chidinma Covers Vibe.ng Magazine & Talks About Her Rise To Fame - Photos by bumi10(op): 6:37pm On Jun 02, 2017
Talented Nigerian singer Chidinma is the cover star for the latest issue of Vibe.ng Magazine, where she talked about her music, Project Fame, her hair, Flavour and her rise to fame.

Excerpts from the interview below

On her bad habits:

Hmm, bad habits? I am not sure they are up to 3. I want to smile less. YES. Because I smile a lot and people sometimes tend to see that as a weakness.

On her rise to stardom:

Music was never part of the big picture until Project Fame. I’d always seen myself as a broadcaster. I wanted to be on the radio. I just wanted to gain some experience. I wanted to meet people because prior to that time, I was always home. I just wanted to go out and talk to new people. That was the motive behind it.

On her signature haircut:

First of all, only my sister touches and makes my hair and at some point, she had to travel and then I tried to make my hair somewhere else with other people but my hair began to fall off. So I thought to myself. I need to cut this hair. I also wanted a different look.

I remember the first time I cut my hair. The moment I did and I had a shoot, I was almost crying like -oh my God, I’m bald- but immediately I took the pictures, I just fell in love and ever since, I’ve been rocking it.

PoliticsGive Me Oduduwa Or I Die - Femi Fani-kayode Calls For Disintegration Of Nigeria by bumi10(op): 2:20pm On Jun 02, 2017
Former Presidential aide during OBJ regime and Aviation Minister during GEJ regime, Femi Fani Kayode, has again called for the division/disintegration of Nigeria, saying and I quote: “give us Oduduwa or let us die.”

Recall that FFK has been a strong advocate of the struggle for a state of Biafra, and has supported the leaders of different pro-Biafra groups in the country, most notably, Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

In his latest article he entitled, “Give me Oduduwa or I die,” Fani-Kayode noted that he cannot stay in a country with those who, according to him engage in underage marriage and kill their fellow human beings at will.

In FFK's words:

"O Nigeria, how are the mighty fallen. I loved Nigeria but now I have stopped believing in her. She is saddled with many different sub- nations that were simply incompatible right from the start. “She is plagued and cursed with one particular sub-nation whose ruling elite are dangerous and unyielding, whose guile and deceit is second to none, who treat their own people with contempt and derision, who believe that they were born to rule, who think that power belongs to them, who suppress the religious and ethnic minorities within their ranks and who were taught from an early age that there is none besides them.

“Those people have killed Nigeria. They and those who have consistently bowed and trembled before them and who have always allowed them to have their way. “Our nation has become a cruel joke- she is a maliciously contrived contraption that has shattered many dreams and frustrated many ambitions and aspirations. This was a country that was created for the benefit of just a few at the cost of the misery and pain of so many.

“I will never accept the idea of living in a nation side by side with religious extreemists who slit the throats of children, who habitually slaughter the innocents and who abduct and fornicate with small girls. Animals have no place in the homes of men. “It is time for us to stop pretending: let the terrorists and their friends in high places break away and establish their own country where they can marry as many young girls as they please and chop off as many limbs as they want.

“Let them form a nation where they can stone adulterers and turn women into chattels that are not even worthy of life. “Let those of us from the west establish Oduduwa and let us celebrate and enjoy our freedom from the bondage and ineptitude of a cruel failed state that has no soul and that lacks humanity and compassion. “Let us be liberated from the deceit that is known as Nigeria: a nation that once was but that is no more. Let us be free of Nigeria: a nation where injustice, evil, persecution, insensitivity, impugnity, terror, graft and wickedness reign supreme.

"Let us be rid of Nigeria: a country where those of us that had the misfortune of being born on the ”wrong” side of the regional divide or who are adherents of the ”wrong” religious faith are butchered for our heritage and can never be treated as equals. Give us Oduduwa or let us die.”

PoliticsReps Summon Finance Minister & AGF Over N17bn Office Equipment Proccurement by bumi10(op): 1:31pm On Jun 02, 2017
N17b just for procurement of office equipments? This is outrageous. The of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement on Thursday, summoned the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, over alleged payment of N17 billion for procurement of office equipment.

It also summoned the Auditor-General of the Federation (AGF), Mr Ahmed Idris, and former Accountant-General of the Federation Mr Jonah Otunla, over the said transaction.

The three top government officials are to appear before the committee members on Tuesday next week. Their invitation was sequel to their failure to appear at the public hearing on the allegation organised by the committee on Thursday.

The minister sent the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Isa Dutse, to represent her, but the lawmakers flayed it and refused to accept any excuse for her absence at the investigative hearing.

Before issuing the summons, Chairman of the committee, Rep. Oluwole Oke, said that the three officials had violated the provisions of section 15 of the Public Procurement Act 2007 as it pertained to the role of procurement entities. He told the permanent secretary that the minister must provide documents that included the president’s approval for the contract, agreement signed by the contractors and record of payment of the contract by the ministry.

He said that the summons became necessary because there was a document from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation showing that they had paid N17 billion on the contract. Oke added that public procurement regulation was the only way to curb corruption in the country.
