I enjoyed it so wanted to share.... it about how a single mom in the UK ( father died during a family trip to Nigeria ) was able to shape and mold her 4 children into success. She the mom to Chiwetalu Ejiofor ,Zain Asher (CNN) and a daughter who is a gp [/quot
kode12: Personally, I don't think the Nigerian driving experience is a disadvantage. The learner just needs to be conscious of those acquired bad habits. Watching a lot of videos on youtube would easily highlight those issues. If you keep your bad traits in mind, while learning and consciously try to correct them, you'd be able to pass quite easily. Coordination, anticipation, remaining centred, stopping distances on the road etc, those sort of things only come with time spent on the road. The longer you've spent driving, the better you'd normally be at those skills, which would translate to an easier pass here in the UK..... Unless you were an Ikeja - Sango Ota molue driver in the past , those drivers are irredeemable.
I drive only automatic here in Lagos. Do I have to go learn manual for me to be able to drive well in the UK. Was told most of the cars available for sale and also for driving test are manual.
adeblow: Guys please I don't know what is happening. I did my IELTS Life Skills B1 on 2nd June, 2022 in the British Council Abuja Centre. My results should have been out since 8th of June, and I've sent them a mail, yet no response from them by mail or on the dashboard. Below is a screenshot of my dashboard. What could be the problem please?
Quote your reference number as seen in the test taker portal in your correspondence with British council at their exams email address. And if that was what you did, do check your spam in case you missed their response.
Mamatukwas: The link suggests that there might be exemptions on the basis of disability if you provide proof. But it’s a case by case Kinda thing.
Your approach is okay. However, depending on how old she is, if you can get an exemption for her with a report it might be better to do so and don’t force/assist her to spread her fingers. As she grows older, you may not always be with her. It’s better it’s on record that she is exempt, than you assist her today and can’t assist her tomorrow.
Prosperity4All: Follow the instructions of the Nigerian Passport office. The disability needs to be medically certified. When you get to the UK visa procedure the authorities there will direct you on how they handle such cases. Yours definitely is not the first case. What the passport office has asked you to go and obtain is very vital documentation for her. You have nothing to be worried about really. All the best.
Cashmadam: It is possible for them to ask her to use only her left hand for biometrics. I'm sure they will be understanding and supportive. Just explain to them as soon as you get to the visa office.
Mamatukwas: Did you offer to help? Can you ask to speak with a manager perhaps? Politely. How did she do the biometric for her passport? It’s also possible that the Uk guidelines is simply what they are following and the doctors report will help you avoid future stress.
Thank you for your prompt response. We are still in passport stage, capturing of bio-data. Her dad took her in for capturing and the immigration officer, on sighting her hand didn't even allow her make attempt but just discharge them to go get the doctors exempt from fingerprints document.
I will reattempt the capturing again with her offering to assist spread her hands. I will also get the doc certificate in case, they refuse at the passport office.
Just wondering if UK Visa biometrics exempts anyone from finger print scanning.
Please I need clarifications. We are in the process of getting international passport for our children. Our 2nd daughter has a disability in the right side of her body such that she cannot press her right fingers flat by herself for biometrics as the fingers are folded. At the passport office today, we were directed to go to general hospital to get a doctor certification for fingerprint bypass with a picture of her upper body showing the hands. Now, if we do that and they do not take her finger prints, what will happen at UK Visa biometrics, are such exemption honoured as I know that UK doesn't play with biometrics. Was thinking if the passport office can allow us help her press her fingers on the machine for the finger print impression. Please, anyone who can help to please clarify this as I am very worried about it. Thank you.

Murewaa: Dear all, I did my IELTS on Saturday June 4 2022 and it was stated that Your results will be available to view in the Test Taker Portal between Monday, 06 June 2022 and Thursday, 09 June 2022.
I've been checking since 3 days now, still awaiting result.
Can somone tell me what's going on, as I'm eager to have it.
Thanks for your concern.
I did mine, ielts cbt on June 1. I only saw my result on the test taker portal yesterday after I sent email to them on the delay on day 7 after the test.
Papitomendez: You should wait till you receive the result notification email, it typically extends pass the days they write on your test taker portal so it may drop today or latest next week. But you should reach out to your test center via a phone call and email

Alusiizizi: Tinubu has won a free ticket back to a retirement home in Iragbiji. Think about it. Oshinbajo had the courage to break away from his hold and he is far more likely to get the APC ticket. No one likes being held in bondage therefore it follows that more will follow Oshinbajo's footstep right down to that MC Oluomo thug, his power unraveling like an old sack from it's seams. He will have no choice but to contest for local government chairmanship at Iragbiji.
Confidantfunds: Please help, is there any health check form one néed to fill before entering UK or at the airport. After getting visa and booking flight, what's required at the airport?... Like Nigeria immigration checks?
Murewaa: Dear leaders. I got a job as a maintenance technician. The company handling my immigration process, assigned to me by my employer didn't request for police report. And I read here that police report is part of the required documents for this Japa process.
Should I ask the company or allow the company to submit my application like that?
Also note that police report expires in 3 months. Acquire it as close to your document submission for visa period.
Mamatukwas: September Intake is typically sorted by February in most UK councils. However, your best bet would be to reach out to your local council as soon as the kids arrive. If they are of school age they will place them.
I hope to be in UK by August on a tier 2 visa but my family will join me later on, possibly by December or January. Please, how do I sort the children's school out as school would have resumed in UK by September? Do Primary and secondary admits within the year? Thank you
ITbomb: It's not human error, some of these artisans are not so good in quotation calculations, after agreeing with a customer, they go to the market and things gets higher. Then they become stuck.
I helped one recently after he gave me a ridiculously low amount for burglary, we had to calculate together because I really wanted the job done without excuses
I agree with you. Your brother should get a more experiences peeson's help in calculations or giving quote after doing his due diligence by going to market it calling to confirm current prices. He shouldn't be in a rush to give quotes. Also, he should never spend the money for a job for his personal or family needs until the job is done. Some artisans will say they are spending their profit upfront, as the job continues to be delayed, cost of materials go up He should give allowance for unforseen price increase and put that mark up in his quote. Consistently doing a good job which is delivered on time will give him repeat customers. It is better you charge welk, make profit and do your job well.
ksjmode: My advice. The fact that you graduated with Distinction shows how academically sound you're. I will urge you to find ANY recognized University private or public that offers DIRECT ENTRY to 300 Level of a four-year program at BSc. I get the argument of your self esteem some people are making but my brother/sister. It may take an extra one semester but your chances are LIMITLESS afterwards once you have BSc.. And if you work at it you're likely to graduate with a FIRST CLASS. I don't want to start telling you your roadblocks with compiling HND, Pgd, MSc. Save yourself the stress. I have HND, Pgd, and also BSc(UK degree) and I know why I had to advice you on this.
LEADS University in Ibadan is a good example and many of the UK Universities allows you to enrol into their 300 Level (final year) called Top-up degree with honors
Wish I can give you a million likes. You said it all. First degree will always matter whether you have pgd or masters in admission. I work in HR and I know why I am saying so. On the field of work, recruiters will specify, first degree! Few accept HND. But with BSc conversion, you become limitless. How many HND get scholarship positions, even in addition to your pgd and masters.
lomprico: Why waste time on BSc, she can do pgd one yr and start masters afterwards.
Yes, you can do. But post graduate diploma is still a diploma. Lack of Bsc will always come to haunt you as policy cannot even equate HND and Bsc. Their will always be disparity.
