my only problem with computers that have webcam built in which i have one is that the webcam quality is poor since the way the webcam is embedded, there is not sufficient light to enter the lens so the pictures look dull and unhappy. well the person will still be able to recognise it is a human face on the other end, i think there are better systems with webcam built in now obviously they will keep improving on the quality of these systems.

Even though my laptop is webcam equipped, i still had to buy the real deal and my pictures have never being the same again.

u r storing the file path (C:\Documents and Settings\OBl OKOYE\My Documents\pdfs\ajax in action) as a blob that is in my opinion that is where the 88bytes come from. If u r only storing the path file well maybe the blob data type may not be the best to use. u can look into text, or varchar(255).

I am not really familiar with blobs and how it works

provide detailed description of the file size, which file or if u can provide screenshot that will be helpful

r u refering to the blob size of the pdf compared to the actual pdf file itself?

look at the table structure and look at the insert statement, you should be able to figure out what is wrong.

incompatible data types, field mismatch, error in syntax.

you dont need error message to see what is wrong

you are inserting values into the ID column and Name column however, The NAME column is a varchar(45) and the value you're inserting is way more than 45 characters, but really u want that information to go into the BOOK column. so that is not going to work because your ID, NAME, BOOK, columns are not null, and u are only passing values into two columns making one not null column empty.
you don't have to pass a value into the autoincrement field since the db takes care of that

this is the fix you have to pass a value into a NOT NULL column if you don't, it is not going to work

INSERT INTO new_book (NAME,BOOK) VALUES('name of book','C:\Documents and Settings\OBl OKOYE\My Documents\pdfs\ajax in action' )

Always remember to check your table structures before writing your statements

its not a virus hardware conflict or damaged file system I have had similar problems whereby i plugged in a usb device and unplugged my computer without shutting down.

I used the DAMAGED FILE SYSTEM solution to resolve my problems try it

If your pc is not working properly doesnt mean it is affected by a virus, trojan etc

Damaged File System
If the second parameter (0xbbbbbbbb) of the Stop error is 0xC0000032, then the file system is damaged.

If this is the case, restart the computer to the Recovery Console, and then use the chkdsk /r command to repair the volume. After you repair the volume, check your hardware to isolate the cause of the file system damage.

To do this, use the following steps:
1. Start your computer with the Windows startup disks, or with the Windows CD-ROM if your computer can start from the CD-ROM drive.

If this procedure does not work, repeat it and use the fixboot command in step 5 instead of the chkdsk /r command.

Well that will be probably your first mistake of usability. You can build something to your taste, people may use it or may not use it. If you are planning on building applications for the general public. You will have to take into consideration what people THINK, how people, BEHAVE, and what someone may do DIFFERENTLY.

The cheap ones you cant even buy it for the price they advertise, you will have to reconfigure the system to meet your needs then the price will eventually become similar to othe computers

trying changing your workgroup.

right click on MY COMPUTER and click on PROPERTIES

go to COMPUTER NAME tab

click on CHANGE

try setting it to WORKGROUP if it the workgroup that is already there then try MSHOME

If there are Hi-def movies on in nigeria am pretty much certain that pirates will put them back on to vcds.

Really producing in Hi-Def is not expensive. Definitely just a camcorder in Hi-Def will absolutely do a better job than the cameras used to film the movie scenes.

Well obviously put it on their respective format maybe challenging. but as internet penetrates into more homes and hopefully better quality and reliable connections, Nollywood can pretty much come out with an itunes version for movies. then hopefully it will be cheaper than vcds. regardless people wills till download and sell.

NTDETECT.COM is used during the hardware recognition phase of boot up, it is no surprise that you are having problems without it.
I'd try the following to get your computer working again:

1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
3. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
4. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
5. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
6. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter "E". This letter may be different on your computer.

copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

7. Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

DIfferent manufacturers have diffferent bios settings.

You may have to do as instructed on the screen.

Power Settings
System Time
Boot Proceedure (Hard drive, Floppy Drive, CD, Ethernet as mention from the previous posts)
System Password

and just look around.

If u can remove the cmos battery remove it for a couple of minutes and put back then try restarting

Provide the name of the computer's manufacturer and operating system you are using

Then potential solutions can be provided

If i were in your situation and I recieved a laptop from someone, I will reformat the drive and start afresh because I do not know what the person used it for and how good the person kept the system clean.

This will save time instead of trying to fix every single problem.

When u buy or recieve a laptop from a third party (not from manufacturer, it is advisable to reformat) because there could be software that track and record your activity, person information etc.

So think about reformatting.

If you are running Internet Explorer, if it is version 6 the instructions below are okay if it is version 7 I don't use IE so i am not sure where to find them but you should be able to look around somewhere.

try doing this

a) Open the Internet Options applet located in your Control Panel (Control Panel > Internet Options )
b) Adjust your "Auto-detection" settings: click on the "Connections" tab, then click LAN settings and clear any checkmark next to "Auto detect settings". (If you have a Proxy configured here, the program will not function properly. Try connecting directly to the Internet and not a proxy server.)
c) On the "General" tab: click "Settings" for "Temporary Internet Files" and change "Check for newer versions of stored pages" to "Every visit to the page" and click OK.
d) Next, select "Delete Files" for Temporary Internet Files and check "Delete all offline content" and click OK.
e) On the "Security" tab, change your "Internet Zone" settings to "Medium".
f) On the "Privacy" tab, change your settings to "Medium".
f) After making these changes, click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.

Restart your computer and try again.

On a serious note u don't need to install any software using the router cd. just use your windows to manage your wireless internet configs once the driver for the wireless card is installed you're good to go which u say is working fine.

Go to Control Panel > Network Connections > right click on your wireless network card and click on properties

Go to the Network connection tab and Make sure Use windows to configure my wireless connection is checked ( or a statement similar to that am too lazy to check it)


You can restore your intenet explorer settings once you're done

sometimes when i use firefox it times out until i clear my cache and all that goodies and it works well. maybe the process of u restarting cleans your cache or something. check your browser settings carefully.
