Religion / Re: Always Give God The Glory by Cactus(m): 11:28am On Jul 18, 2010
Always give god the glory when things go good. and give who the glory when things go bad?

When things go good, thank god
when things go bad, I cant believe i did this, oh i am crazy bla bla bla. or blame something else.

Where lies the accountability and responsibility?
Religion / Deuteronomy 25:11-12 - Cut Off Her Hand. by Cactus(m): 11:18am On Jul 18, 2010
KJV
------

11 When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets: 12 Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.

New International
----------------------

11 If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, 12 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.

Who is she grabbing by the privates. husband or assailant?
If she grabs the husband that is not shielding him still assaulting the husband. But the assailant can claim self-defense after he cuts of her hand.
Who should do the cutting, husband or assailant?
Career / Re: ~is Oracle Better Than Ccna. . .if Not, Why The Gulf In Price?~ by Cactus(m): 6:25pm On Jul 15, 2010
You cant compare both technologies. They have entirely different functions.

There are cars that you can buy for 500,000 Naira and some you can buy for over 15,000,000 Naira. But you buy the one you can. Either way, you still get a mode of transportation.

Oracle is storage in terms of storing data (database)
CCNA is connection in terms of how to connect machines together (networking)

It is a free world to set prices as you wish as a business. As a potential clients, there are always options. You get what you pay for, this doesnt necessarily mean that all the expensive schools are excellent, cheap schools are bad, some may be opposite. Yes, you have a limited budget, look at all the options available, and talk with people who have trained with different centers. they make your final decision.

You can go to a tailor to get custom made clothes or you can go to a store to buy designer clothes. Luckily we are living in a society that has options. Need not complain too much about the price gap, research on your options.

You cant compare Oracle to CCNA based on pricing.

Webmasters / Re: Bye Bye Ie6 by Cactus(m): 4:32pm On Nov 03, 2009
cdeveloper:

This is actual a test of how good you a developer or designer you are, the ability to port your design to all the major browsers both grade A and older browsers.

If making your designs compatible with all major browsers, how many people that proclaim they are web designers or developers would have failed the test? There are many people that do not even waste their time to support IE6 or let alone IE.

A major website sorry I have to reference China but take for instance there are many websites in China that will require you to use IE. Imagine going on facebook or myspace and you see a message that you are only allowed to use IE. How would you feel as a user? There are major social networking sites that have features that only work with IE. www.qq.com is a popular one. Going through the social network section of qq user profile page, gallery of users would not render in firefox. But works in IE. the default homepage and some features work in firefox.

There are major american bank websites that will only allow for IE.

How many people do you want to make happy?
How long will you keep hacking to make all these people happy?
What is the pay-off of hacking and slashing codes?

It is not a test of your developmental skill it is just quirks with the engines used by various browsers. cocoa, gecko etc But that is life what can we all do?

Webmasters / Re: Review Nigeria Embassy (rome) Website by Cactus(m): 4:14pm On Nov 03, 2009
1. there is a whitespace at the bottom of the footer. I am assuming you placed it there if not check it in firefox 3.5,
2. If you go to immigration and passport, you have the submenu on the right. If you go to About Nigeria, you have the submenu on the left of the page. I would prefer to stick to one side of the page for consistency.
3. On the about Nigeria page, the map of Nigeria, you can make it clickable so that a bigger version will come up that will be easier to read.
4. Top menu: you can do a vertical-align: middle; to make it visually balanced against the green background.
5. Your class names: where you have class="gridxxxxx" you can think about using proper relevant names. That would make the next person's work easier if you are not the one that will be asked to modify it on a future date.
6. Try to centralize the menu on top if it looks cool then keep it that way.
7. I am not sure if this is me or something magic happening. It seems to me that some pages have different font styles than others or maybe some pages have bigger font that others. Not familiar with expressionengine framework but I feel that the initiall css should match maybe while someone was tweaking made some changes that makes it look different.
8. Keep your forgotten password page like every other page. I wouldnt use different layout of colors.
9. Like 8 above the error page for invalid username or password. should be formatted like the remaining site not something different. and most likely use a different type of error notification.
10. I am quite confused try to remove the link to the forum if you dont want it to be seen without logging in. Anyone can find it if they want so remove the link if you dont want it to be found. Also try to style the forum like the main site so everything flows seamlessly. colorwise
Webmasters / Re: What Does It Take To Set Up A Payment Processor Like Graphcard Ana Fastecash by Cactus(m): 3:43pm On Nov 03, 2009
One thing for certain, graphcard and fastecash i think will never reveal how it is done. they wont even speak about it publicly if one cannot find the information online. So that is a no go zone.

graphcard's site seems to be partially function didnt click through all the links so I am not sure it is all functional.

Webmasters / What Percent Of Nigerians Use Linux? by Cactus(m): 10:32am On Nov 02, 2009

Not dual booting linux and windows

100% linux based workstation
Webmasters / Re: Css Question Here. by Cactus(m): 6:16pm On Oct 30, 2009
Unfortunately, there may never be support for that true pure coding css or without IE. hacks.

It is possible for things to get worse with CSS3 and html 5.

No loves for IE?

Webmasters / Re: Globacom Nigeria Is Recruiting Web Designers by Cactus(m): 10:07am On Oct 03, 2009
Globalcom has the leverage.

They know people are looking for jobs.
They know people want to work at globalcom

So they can give any salary they want small or big
Give whatever job description they want

For that position as mentioned earlier

anything about 1.5million naira would be ok per month

The problem is, Globalcom may not want to pay that much. they may not see the value in getting top grade and retaining the talents.
