we can not just vote for him because he is a youth... He sometimes talk like an opportunist.. he should tell us what he have for us and not fighting cabals and yabing cabals.. sometimes he includes propaganda instead of being transparent..
I just saw an AIT interview of Sowore on youtube.

He answered this particular question and more. Infact, I must say that I was convinced to a great degree about his sincerity of purpose and understanding of what the job entails.

You mentioned propaganda so I'd like you to share it or if there's a url or some resource where I can obtain this material. Cos, I'm about to decide.

However, it's another kettle of fish altogether whether he'll win.

I wasnt going to disclose how Nigerian politicians win election until after 16th but you have won the puzzle so ill let out the bag.

Litdutchboy, now here is conclusion. grin

Do you know how Nigerian politician wins election? He ties his background to university degrees and smartness to communicate English grammar than his opponents. He talks about his certificates and credentials and alma mater and experience in office, his travels to foreign places and about turning the serene beauty of his state into a concrete monument called infrastructure. He turns his political ambition into a vehicle for elitism and academic bragadacio.

The Nigerian politician was sent to school from proceeds of pepper and tomato sales, from sheep and goat sales, from hawking bread and akara and moinmoin, from tuwo and amala joints.......but he never appreciate the market economy and traders and hawkers and artisans who all together form the grassroot economy without which the Nigerian society will be bankrupt....yet the Nigerian politician will call himself an economist, an accountant, a lawyer, an engineer....but never acknowledge himself as the son of a market trader, a carpenter, a mechanic, a painter.....

We have a long way to go.

We dismiss a cow merchant and farmer for not having a certificate.

But we desire an employer of labour who wrote a policy paper and never once acknowledge the grassroot traders. Or his deputy claimed to be an economist....but doesnt know tha language of the market women.

I pity Nigeria! grin
PoliticsRe: Lagos: What I’ll do in first 100 days if voted governor – Sanwo-Olu by calberian: 5:21am On Jan 14, 2019
showafrica:
Why is no one talking about power in the first 100 days. Lagos should be able to generate her own power. The Nigeria present and future government is not ready to solve power problem for the next decade.
You should watch the debate on youtube.

For reasons best known to the Op, this thread is focused on the submission of the APC candidate. Agbaje, the PDP candidate said he'll tackle Traffic, Power and Waste management, commendable right?

Wait till you watch the delivery of the night's dark horse, the ADP candidate.
Christianity EtcRe: 2019 election: Archbishop of Lagos tells Nigerians candidates to vote by calberian:
Trust?

Trust, like oil, isn't such a valuable commodity these days anymore.

Obasanjo became Nigeria's president based on trust and goodwill. I remember his delivery on May 29, 1999. He'd just come out of Abacha and Mustapha's detention gulag in some hole in the ground so, the understanding was this: having suffered so much and become so lean (he'd become so emaciated), he feel the pain of the masses the most and act likewise.

I wasn't eligible to vote then but I was confident that he was the man to be trusted to do the job well.

Needless to say, we couldn't be farther from the truth.

Jonathan succeeded his boss based on trust and goodwill due to the Yar Adua charade. We saw how that one went: his ministers are still being chased till today all over the globe by interpol to answer the EFCC.

Buhari defeated Jonathan probably with the greatest trust and goodwill that any Nigerian leader so far (probably except MKO Abiola) has had. We are still seeing how that one is playing out.

So, I daresay that trust alone won't solve the problem.

I might be wrong too but I think we should work towards having a platform or system that steers and keeps focus of government policies both at the planning and execution level on the basic and urgent issues.

How can we achieve this? By looking at those they surround themselves with.

Let's look away from big party with big money and focus on true party with real intentions.

For example, the ADP dude running for Lagos governor. I'd never heard of him before last night's debate. You can check it out on youtube and reach your own conclusions.

My broda, na so o?

As d economi dey give person sleepless nights nko, na wetin we go do?

It's just sad that after the whole event where there's such an overwhelming consensus as to who should get support of the polity at polls, the results get to show that it was all just an academic exercise. sad

Looking on the bright side, it feels good to know that we have good hands and brains who are willing to face the powers that be for a chance to do the job of improving our lot.

Even, if he stands the slimmest chance of the three, from what I saw on the youtube clips of the whole debate, I will vote for him regardless. He did his homework so he deserves it.

With respect to the bold words: if I choose not to be cautious, what will you do about it?

The point is that she insulted and disrespected her father - Robert Kelly. Besides, I have got no time to engage you in an argument, conversation or otherwise on his daughter's ill informed opinion about him.

However, may your dad RIP.
CelebritiesRe: Buku Abi, R. Kelly's Daughter Reacts To Sex Abuse Scandal, Calls Him ''Monster by calberian: 11:25am On Jan 12, 2019
Why is it so hard for y'all to have an argument and remain objective.

You didn't need to get subjective over this.

If you have a contrary opinion, present it.

If you don't, don't lose your objectivity.

The point isn't whether she insulted her father or not. The point is that she did not call her father a monster and I elucidated accordingly.

You really don't need to insult my late dad over this. Trust me, there are things that you need but you don't need this. This is an advice. Henceforth, be cautious.

Wallade:
Hmmm "OED"! Who is in an argument with you? I can see what you stand for however, I don't share your opinion.

You can also choose to insult and disrespect your father publicly. That will be your father not mine.

She made allusions to what others said.

When Fela sang, ". . . That my mama wey you kill. . . ", he was making allusions to what they might have called her and killed her as a result but, he made it clear that he has a different opinion about her: ". . . She's the only mother of Nigeria. . . "

When allusions are made in such manner, they only refer to the opinion of those being quoted.

It's simple comprehension. QED

Wallade:
That statement indicated that the daughter alluded to the qualification of R. Kelly as a monster.

When a person or party of people accuse another person or party of rape and paedophilia and a 3rd person or party decides to label the accused as a rapist(s) and a paedophile(s), the 3rd party, in effect, passes judgement without the defendant's submission. Even bank robbers who commit heinous crimes with numerous eye witnesses present and video evidence still get fair hearing.

Michael Jackson was accused of paedophilia and went to court over the issue but that didn't make him lose the love and respect of billions globally during and after the brouhaha.

If my daughter reported being assaulted in similar manner, I'd investigate it and allow the law to take its course. I won't go up in arms over what hasn't been proven yet.

Bill Cosby's case went to court and after hearing his side of the story, he was found culpable and punished accordingly. It still didn't make me lose respect for him. That's his personal life. He's flawed character-wise. I am too. The whole world is. Except you Daeylar, though and your feminist cohorts. It's called human nature.

I'm not celebrating the flaws. I condemned the act, if it really happened but I respect what he did to music.

I think some of you nairalanders who aren't lost should learn to appreciate contrasting opinions.

You will do well to take your men-bashing elsewhere and leave my rapist-paedophile a$$ the fvck alone.

Daeylar:
Does anything stop you from condemning the people who took the money and the man who committed the heinous crimes?
You think you can point out the flaws of the the people who supported rkelly while respecting rkelly? undecided

You got respect for a pedophile and a rapist,
you admit that the man abused minors,
you admit that the man left grown folk and settled for high school kids.
You admit that the man is a pedophile and a rapist.

Yet rush to post twice that you still have respect for the man. Regardless
Yet you think after saying you have respect for and revere A pedophile you still have the right to judge or complain about what anyone does?
What makes you.( Who thinks it is OK to have respect or revere a man who committed statutory rape,) feel like you can condemn people who took his money and kept quiet?
What if they had respect for and revered rkelly too?
Yet people are liking your comments.

Nairalanders are lost.

I still got respect for R. Kelly regardless.

I'm totally against the abuses and all perpetrated by the reverred musician but I opine thus:

All those folks were benefitting from him all those years and kept quiet. Now, they aren't getting those benefits anymore and they saw how the Cosby affair went so they congregated and made a video out of it and are now playing the victim.

If they're as honest as they claim to be, they should have sacrificed those benefits and spoken up right away. Secondly, I daresay that it's the parent's fault when a minor is exposed to abuse in such a manner.

Anyways, I still got respect for the king of Rnb, I only wonder how he managed to look past all the matured folk who would do anything to spend one night with him and settle for high school kids.
PoliticsRe: How INEC Can Tackle ‘PVC Buying’ In General Elections — Saraki by calberian:
Interesting

If only Ezekwesili, Sowore, Durotoye and Moghalu came under one umbrella as an economic team.

Concerning rigging, the PDP rebirthed rigging and kept it up to date for 16 years. The APC instutionalised it and almost made it consitutional. However, going by their core members, leaders, ideologies, modes of operation, activites and values, both so-called parties are one and the same (that pic of Jacob zuma would just fit right here).

So, it would be nonsensical to think that APC alone would attempt rig some part or all of the forthcoming elections or that it's the PDP alone that would do so. I mean, the fact that they have scores of propaganda pseudo-political parties (although, who can easily be dissected with a simple forensic analysis) goes to show what lengths these folks are ready to go to.

As usual, it will be a case of who outrigged the other better. Because, from all indications, young progressives like the FDS and the Moghalus will have their say but the riggers proponents of the next level of geriatrics will, as usual, have their way.

I think the most painful part of all of this is that there are young folks in here and on dozens other sm and online platforms who genuinely believe that the APC and PDP sincerely intend to do things right this time around. At best, it will simply be a case of pouring old wine in new wineskin.

PoliticsRe: SDP Retains Duke’s Name With INEC by calberian: 8:13am On Dec 23, 2018
30 years ago, when Donald Duke was still a student, Prof. Jerry Gana was a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This alone, I M O, disqualifies the Prof. but rules are rules so if SDP has an agreement concerning rotation of candidates, it must be respected.

However, all party agreements remain subject to INEC regulations and the window for submission of candidates' names has closed. And, unfortunately, the individuals who are to push for this submission/change are listed as defendants in the Profs case.

He couldn't win the freest and fairest of party primaries in this dispensation so I think it's safe to say that the Prof stands no chance at all of winning. I can only see the Prof. as someone being supported by others who stand to gain from the removal or omission of Donald Duke as a Presidential candidate. And no, this is not denigration. It's called personal opinion.

At days' end, the party goofed by not first amending their laws.

Wow

This is some superb piece of music. I sort of like pasuma's part best.

I think the visuals should depict all these effects of bad/poor/visionless governance that have plagued Nigeria for 58 years:

ASUU strikes
Disregard for court judgements
Brain drain
Power sector wahala
Police wahala
Budget inflation
And so on

All in all, kudos to the whole team!

Interesting stuff.

Personally, I just feel it's sad. The situation is a grave one.

How in the world can a select few, determine that the cause of suffering of millions should remain (usually with a potential to weild even greater suffering)? . . . And have their say over and on behalf of the masses . . . !

This case is not peculiar to Bauchi. It's a narrative that's present nationwide and seems to have come to stay. I mean, what then is the function of elections? To present as a report card to international agencies and foreign countries so these despotic leaders can be granted passage to their countries for shopping sprees and medical vacays?

I'm just certain that this can't last forever.

If Sanni Abacha's regime could end at its prime, in the blink of an eye, this too shall pass away.
