seun0622: I am quite surprised the way many folks here paints the whole picture about north Korea. FYI, nuclear weapons are acquired in order to earn respect from other nations. The use of it is always the last resort because it has far more devastating effects. I wish you people would read the history of north Korea and stop listening to CNN propaganda. North Koreans have lived with too many international sanctions for a very long time, this has made them truly independent, tho with few allies. This is a country pushed to the wall. Few months ago when they launched nuclear weapon laden Satellite into space, that action sent a warning signal to the whole world especially America. If you think the young leader of NK is joking, take a closer look at those within his cabinet, they are mostly people that worked with his late father . No country dares threaten America without an almost immediate military response but NK has done this for the last few months now but all America could do was do a test flight of their bombers over the Korean pacific. NK is not just threatening now, they have the said weapon and i m sure further provocation might make them unleash it.@ Ops the North Korean Presidu should know that the best form of attack is defence,He should not only know how to attack but how to defend too. A word is enof for a Wise ! |

Employment Scam: Senate Investigating 300 MDAs – Kuta Mon, 01/04/2013 - 2:08am | ABU NMODU Leadership NewsPaper The Senate Committee on Federal Character is investigating three hundred federal ministries, departments and federal government agencies (MDAs) for allegation of collection of money for job and lopsidedness in appointments between 2011 and 2012. This was disclosed yesterday by the Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District Dahiru Aweisu Kuta, in an interactive session with journalists in Minna. He said that the Committee on Federal Character and Inter- governmental relation that he chairs has also established lopsidedness in appointment into some vacant government positions in its findings so far The senator stated that it has also found out that in the employment set up 13 federal government agencies top the chart like immigration service NECO, Civil Defence, NNPC, Custom and Aviation. Kuta Stated that from their findings there was an instance that N1.8 million was collected for a job to be given and jobs were traded for the highest bidders as high as N200,000 and above in most of the MDAs. He said some of the organisations were alerted and those found wanting were flushed out of the system based on the recommendations. “It is said that because people have been so desperate you can- not blame them, but if this employment scam is not checked one day there will be revolution” he said. He added, “an agency has 74 vacancies because they have to advertise 400,000 applications were received, you can see why people become so desperate.” According to him, the federal character is so abused, that “by the time you enter an organisation you need not to be told where the chief executive of the place comes from because from the messenger to the top will be people from his place, it is that bad.” Kuta stated that section 15 of the law establishing the Federal Character Commission gave the commission power to investigate and prosecute such agencies but lamented that the commission was not availed the resources to prosecute such employment scam and irregularities that pervade MDAs. He said by the time the committee finished its work the Senate would take definite position on the employment scams and also correct some of the lopsidedness discovered. |

Thats where my hatred lies. of cos the retardeen is my president till whenever courtesy those that voted him and not PDP, i have no issues with thatPresidency is an Institution, and GEJ is duely elected President of Our Country.Even if you cannot respect GEJ as a Person then revere his Position by not calling him "Retardeen" Cos two wrongs cannot make right. Mind you am not Pro GEJ neither have i said he ȋ̝̊ doing well,Ii can admit he iss a weak President but that doesn't mean you call him Retardeen. |

Flye: Yes Zamfara and jigawa may not have enough graduate or qualified applicant but does that means that Enugu and ebonyi too did not have enough graduate and applicant to compete with abia, anambra and imo state? Ok may be that should be between that region, did abia state only produces same number of graduate as all SouthWest put together or Neast and Nwest put together, that Edo did not produce any graduate as Zamfara and jigawa. This is too much my friend, it may be normal when u favour ur peaple in certain things but when u selfishly allocate all to ur self in enviroment of scarcity that we find our selves is very bad.@ Poster were is other States when People from Anambra and Imo State is going to School.Anambra followed by Imo Produces the highest number of graduate per year. And if things are done on Merit they must surely conquer first. Kindly check: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anambra_State I saw one poster quoting Lagos,Lagos are dominated by IGBO's mainly Anambrarians remember the recent crisis in Ladipo Market and others. |

BeraBera: For me o, ejecting them would not be the best solution as every Nigerian has the constitutional right to reside in any part of the country of their choice. The landlord's and neighbors just need to shine their eyes, watch their movements, watch thier associates and those who visit them, eavesdrop on them. If any suspicious thing is revealed, they would the report the tenant(s) involved to security agents.@ Poster u mean let the bomb go off first, OK if u say so but bear it in Mind that if the bomb goes off Life will be lost. |

Nigerians will lose Nigeria to a civil war” – Ribadu calls for amnesty for Boko Haram Former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu has voiced his support for amnesty for members of Islamic sect, Boko Haram. On Saturday, Ribadu warned that if President Goodluck Jonathan refused to grant amnesty to Boko Haram, the country could fall into another civil war. He said if President Jonathan didn’t act soon, with the way things were occurring in the country, “Nigerians will lose Nigeria to a civil war.” “Jonathan was wrong to have said he will not grant amnesty to Boko Haram; he should not fail to protect the people and when people call saying we are tired, we are down; even if it means to dialogue and have a solution to the whole process, he should opt for such. “You cannot say they are faceless because faceless people do not do things like this. Faceless people cannot be responsible and daily you see them on Facebook. Faceless people cannot be in your custody; ghosts cannot be people that are in the community, people who at a point wanted to dialogue,” Ribadu said. Former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, recently supported the idea of an amnesty when he was in Kano to sympathize with the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, over the attack on him and his convoy. “For the innocent ones among them, there must be amnesty. We cannot fight a war in our own country against minor crimes and minor people. We would only end up multiplying these people by trying to use force against our own citizens,” he said. According to reports, Ribadu who spoke on Liberty FM in Kaduna on Saturday insisted that President Jonathan granted amnesty to the sect for peace to return to the country, adding that a war could be averted “if we come together forgetting about sentiments, about differences and working towards unity and saving the resources of this country because it is only through that we will be able to achieve peace.” |

Nigerian Girl Harassed By Irate Mob In Abuja for Wearing A Skimpy Dress http://ireporterstv.co/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Nigerian-Girl-Disgraced.png http://ireporterstv.co/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Nigerian-Girl-Disgraced-3.png Nigerian Girl Harassed Who made these street boys fashion police or culture interpreters? Why did they decide to harass and almost strip naked this girl for wearing a short dress? This is a disgraceful and barbaric act. They should be arrested for assault. The last time we checked, there is law that states that people cannot wear short clothes and this girl does not deserve treatment she received. These type of indecent behaviour from street boys needs to stop! FULL STOP!! Your take Please? |
bolaino: I know I'm going to get lots of insults thrown on my person after creating this topic, but to me the truth is better, I'm not a tribalist or an ethnic bigot, on the other hand I'm a proud Nigerian, one who believes that there is still hope for our great nation, I grew up reading literary works of chinua achebe, and I enjoyed his master piece (things fall apart) so much that I always re enacted this story whenever I was bored while growing up, the author of the book seemed bigger than life to me then, but growing up I discovered one thing about this man, he was a sadist, a pessimist, and a bad critic, he never saw the country Nigeria amounting to anything, he was always quick to condemn from the high pedestal which the "white man" put him, no doubt he has made Nigeria proud in the aspect of literature, but what has he done to help build this country? This is a man who spent half his life abroad pointing out problems of this country, but never offering sound possible solutions to these problems, this man hated his father land so much that he refused a national award twice, I believe that his refusal to accept the national awards stemmed from his hatred of his fatherland, not solely cos he felt the governments had failed the people, this man was not a man of the people as most people are claiming, rather he was a man against the people, he was a doomsday individual, he was hoping for the collapse of this our great country, he hated the market woman, the taxi driver and even the lawyer, he saw Nigerians as a people who could never change for the better, chinua achebe made us proud with his literary works, but aside from that he did not contribute enough for the over all development of this country, we've heard of great doctors who left the western world to come and practice in bush Africa, these men are the kind of people we should look up to, let me not say more, but I believe I have made my views known, may his soul rest, I hope he is buried in the United states. The best form of development is Human Capital Development Achebe developed our Minds. |

ROSSIKE: ^^I actually sympathize a bit with your sentiments. I think Achebe was a bit too much of a pessimist where it concerned modern Nigeria. He failed to understand that developing nations, especially complex ones like Nigeria, need time to develop the institutions and even the culture required to create and sustain advanced societies. He had this naive idea that straight off from independence, we should have been on a one way trajectory to being the new Japan or USA, forgetting that those nations had several centuries of independence before getting where there are. Africans are not superhumans. The colonialists left us without a single proper university on the entire black continent right up till 1960 when they left (apart from in SA). How does such a continent develop into a world class place in a decade or two as Achebe was expecting? It was never going to happen. The coups, the corruption, the ineptitude etc were all very predictable growing pains of newly liberated nations that had been bastardized for centuries by rapacious, unscrupulous foreigners. We've actually come a long way if you look at it objectively. We've brought mass education to our people, which was denied us by the colonialists. We've built some notable infrastructure, and our economies are growing from strength to strength. So we're not standing still. Shame Achebe never found it in him to acknowledge that progress.. But we still honour him for his great works of literary genius which brought glory, international respect and honour to his fatherland and to the continent. His place is assured in the annals of great African heroes. In 1910,the Secretary of State for Colonies Lewis Harcourt presented to the British House of Commons, proposal to merge the Southern and Northern Protectorate, the aim was purely economical. "The Protectorate of Northern Nigeria proved a relatively poor neighbour without direct access to the Sea with larger area and Population, with costly railway construction, tee Protectorate of northern Nigeria experienced seriously financial difficulties only slightly relieved by the annual grants in aid from the imperial treasury". Despite Sir Ralph moore's protest who saw no reason why the riches of the South should be used to develop the North. Lugard's proposal for amalgamation was approved.1st January 1914,Nigeria came to being as the two protectorate were amalgamated.Lugard became its first Governor General. |
