This depends on the email program you are using. For yahoo mail (classic), look at the bottom right corner of the mail you want to trace, you will see Full Headers; click on it and you will be shown the email header; Copy the email header (The email header is the information that travels with every email, containing details about the sender (including the IP address), route and receiver)

Then go to http://www.ip-adress.com/trace_email

To trace an email, simply paste the email header that you have copied into the Text box u will find in the above link and click on Trace Email Sender button. Thats all.


This is an example of the result you will get after the mail has been successfully traced:

This just an example ooooooo, just try this out and see who your emailers are and where they are from (Though you will not be able to get the real location if the emailer is using some kind af IP anonumous programs or proxy servers like YF)

You do not need to be a programmer to be a web designer. However, if you want to cross the line to become a web developer, Programming then comes in to play. I will advice, you go for PHP and MySQl (if you wish to be a web developer). Good Luck

However, registering them under one group is safe. You can now work on the brand identity if these individual compoanies to make them independent yet tied to the parent comnpany. I don't think it has anything to do with your web server: MySQL is a database server; and should run effectively (if properly installed) on your local system even if no web server is installed.

Have you tried accessing your databases through the MySQL Comand Line Client, if no, try using it and let see what happens.

does he have to register the divisions as individual companies (LLC)?

He wants each of the divisions to be independent of the others.

Now, the question is:
- Does he have to register each division as a Limited Liability Company (ie eXels Networks Ltd, eXels Electronics Ltd etc)

- Or should he register the Group as say eXels Technolgies Ltd, and then register each division as a brand names.

the problem is when i open DOs environment, if i try typing Mysql and press the enter button, it will display that error for me, but if i open my MysqlAdmin. or go to PHPMyAdmin i can go in freely and do whatever i want to do.

what i can't do is type Mysql on my command line.

Smartsoft, I now understand your plight.

Don't just type only mysql in your (DOS) command prompt; since it doesn't let you login as annonymous.

Try this (still in the DOS environment):

mysql -u root -p (then hit ENTER)

the '-p' is to let you enter your password; the next line will do just that, then type your password and hit ENTER.

I beleive this will work, if it doesn't, I advice that you always use the "MySQL Comand Line Client"

Please let us know if this works. SUCCESS!!!

Go to your MySQL command Line Client and run this code:

CONNECT mysql;

UPDATE user SET Password = OLD_PASSWORD('type your desired password here')
WHERE host = 'localhost' AND user = 'root';


To confirm the effect, run this code:

SELECT password from user where host='localhost' AND user='root';

NOTE: you can as well change the hostname and username using the same method.

There is no such thing as "licencing issues" with SMF. Don't get scared by what SEUN said: I have used PHPBB, VBULLETIN, PUNBB, SMF and PHORUM, and I can boldly tell you than SMF is second to none (VBULLETIN is equally great).

My advice: don't use SMF for a small forum. Use www.punbb.org or www.phorum.org and save your time.

OluwaSeun, I doubt if you are sure of what you are saying. While installing SMF, it will automatically create a database (smf), provided you state the hostname and password correctly. On the other hand, you need to manually create a database and grant previledges, before you can successfully install PUNBB and PHORUM; so, tell me which one is easier to set up (the former or the latter).

I maybe wrong, but I am just talking out of experience.
