thats a brilliant question - the UN did not back biafra because the igbos were fighting for their own self determination and recognition, the northerners on the other hand were western puppets who were fighting for a prize which had been given to them by the british but which they thought they might lose if the igbos ever gained power in nigeria.

the igbos were intelligent, resourceful and independent - these are traits that europeans FEAR in black people and for that reason the igbos had to be crushed and neutralised - the northerners were armed by the west, trained by the west and handed power by the west, for the simple reason that they had agreed to act as lackeys for the british. this should tell you that the western powers are our worst enemies. EVen as we speak they are plotting our downfall, ask yourself this question - why is nigeria experiencing bombings all of a sudden? we never used to have this type of problem - the west are merely fomenting hatred between the north and the south in order to force us into an inter ethnic war, they did the same thing in the 1960s and they are doing it yet again in the 00s. They need us to be at each others throats so that thehy can have an excuse to come in make off with our natural resources , they are hoping that we will be too busy killing each other to notice their game plan.

i repeat, this fake story is pure bu.lls.hit - I have watched footage of Gadaffi when he was around Rice and his body language was not the body language of a man besotted, in fact he seemed to snub her, gadaffi likes black african women that is not in dispute - look at his body guards - there is one particular woman that is ALWAYS by his side she is a plump black libyan with long hair - he goes everywhere with her, i am not disputing that he has a soft spot for black african women, but NOT Rice - i dont beleive Gadaffi would condone her bootlicking subservience to western imperialism.

Gadaffi was pro women - he allowed libyan women to pursue their education and join the army, something that is unheard of in other arab countries he was definitely a progressive leader.

blackpanda:
Well, i am assuming u are a nigerian. So before you begin to chant your obvious disdain for your country, ask your self, How many other countries are wholly dependent on oil like nigeria? Are you prepared to face reciprocal sanctions from the US, what with your population of over a hundred million mouths to feed?
nigeria is already facing severe economic hardship in the form of austerity measures which are currently being implemented by the two lackeys in nigeria who serve us and british economic interests - the lackeys im referring to are of course GEJ and okonjo iweala.
at the moment nigeria has no control over how much it sells its oil neither has it any control over the value of its own currency, so who is fooling who here?
if nigerian coward leaders had any self respect they would sever links with the west and concentrate on trading with china, brazil and india - as long as nigeria allows america and europe to pull their strings they will never get a fair deal for the  people of nigeria all nigerians will ever have to look forwar to will be SAP, privatisation of govt owned services, lower and lower standard of living and a continuous rise in the price of food and other essentials

And how dare you question nigeria's peace efforts in African countries, which is very much widely known and commended by the entire international community? Maybe if you had loved ones who had sacrificed their lives to end the war in these countries then you would appreciate what i am saying.
if you want to live on cloud cuckoo land that is your prerogative but for those of us who prefer reality we know that the nigerian army as well as ecomog are  nothign more than NATO's african infantry - the europeans prefer to use africans to fight in places where there is a likelihood of sustaining high  casualties, sadly these wars that are being fought are only benefitting us and european multinationals, africans are just being used as pawns - this has been going on for almost a century and im suprised that you havent been able to see through it.

And with the issue of no fly zone, i am shocked at your level of daftness. You obviously have never experienced war before. Pple like just sit in the comfort of their homes typing rubbish online. We are talking of hundreds of civilian lives perishing, and you busy raising issuing of no fly zone. To hell with politics, every human being's paramonunt motive must be, first to do everything within our powers to save lives!
Today the pple of libya are jubiliating at their final freedom after 42yrs, and people like you are, yet again quick to chastise international efforts in ensuring such freedom.
really? so why is nato using apache helicopters to strafe civillians in the streets of tripoli, and why have they sent no less than 65,000 air sorties to drop missiles on innocent libyan civillians, why is the civillian casualty list rising since they invaded tripoli?
why have they been bombing hospitals, schools, food storage units, mosques, hotels and residential areas?

Maybe u should take some time to pay a visit to one of these waring countries, then you will understand the kind of sacrifice we made, and are still making as a country.
You think the title of "Giant of Africa" is for nothing? Nigeria has proved itself time and time again as a force to be reckoned with within the African continent.
So please try and be patroitic for once!
the giant of africa moniker is one of the biggest misnomers of all time -giant at doing what exactly? corruption, looting of public funds, imposing misery on their own citizens, being lackeys and houseboys of the west - take  your pick.

you sound like a little boy  - so im not going to waste anymore time on you. my advice to you would be to switch off mtv,bet , cnn and all those other junk tv stations that the west is using to wash your brain with and start reading books which tell the truth.

if the west are defenders of human rights as you claim why did they pass laws to prevent black americans from voting and having  access to the same level of education that whites take forgranted? why did they pass laws making it illegal for black americans  to own land in a country that their ancestors built?  how about the laws they passed making it illegal for black americans to  have access to mortgages  which were readily available to whites, how about the laws which allowed them to pay black american workers less than their white fellow citizens for doing the same job?

you are just exposing your ignorance on here and i dont know why you persist.

greece is now a country under the full control of the IMF just like nigeria.  the average greek person now has to work longer for less pay and all their social benefits have been cut but i dont expect you to understand that.

buhari was not willing to be a stooge for america or britain - during his tenure nigeria paid off 50% of their inflated debts to foreign creditors.

buhari is a principled man who wanted to make nigeria a black nation to be proud of but the us and british intelligence services had him removed, when he tried to run for the presidency again his enemies launched a massive smear campaign against him which dullards like yourself swallowed hook line and sinker.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Nigeria Should Stop Playing "big Brother" To Other African Nations by cap28: 10:34am On Aug 26, 2011
this assistance that you are talking about - how come it did not extend to libya or ivory coast ?

who voted in favour of the no flyzone over libya?

who assisted the north atlantic terrorist organisation with the invasion of two african nations?

nigeria is one of the most cowardly nations in africa - in the 1970s opec imposed an oil embargo on america which almost lead to the collapse of the US economy - nigeria under gowon was the only oil producing country which agreed to continue exporting oil to america - instead of forming an alliance with their fellow oil exporting nations they submissively gave in to their oppressors.

so i dont know where you are getting this your information about nigeria playing big brother to the rest of africa from.

you will remain under the yoke of the IMF and the world bank until you enter your grave, i suppose it was the west that built that man made river in libya and put in place a social welfare safety net for the libyan people as well.

was it also the west who enabled libya to reach the position of no 57 on the human development index, ahead of russia, ukraine, czech republic and many other european countries?

is it also the west that paid for many libyans to study at any foreign university of their choice?

you havent suffered enough - i predicted that GEJ would hand nigeria on a plate to america - he has done that, i predicted that the world bank stooge okonjo iweala would plunge nigerians into more poverty - she is in the process of doing that - but dont worry - there is worse to come, enjoy your fresh air - id.iot

freedom to die from minor illnesses because your govt wont spend money providing proper health care?

NATO used Aljazeera and CNN to show the world fake videos of Gadhafi troops killing civilians and bombing them from the air in order to get the UN resolution to go into war in Libya, just like the WMD lie used by Bush to invade Iraq no concrete evidence has been show of Gadafi killing his own people and not even one single bomb crater has been shown apart from those from NATO.
Many of theose typing here are single because they are afraid of the cost of marrying and starting a family while calling 'peanuts' the $60,000 given to all newly weds in Libya (thats N9million)

Let GEJ declare that all corpers or youths in Nigeria who get married between today and December 2011 will get N5m as family support and see if the number of spinsters in the churches and mosques praying daily for husbands will not disappear.
GBAM!!!!!!!!!

i wish we had more people on NL who are as intelligent as the above posters.

This is a man who had the interest of his people at heart, a man who understood the importance of providign the basics and even provided cash incentives for getting married in order to guarantee increase in population growth which in turn would lead to increase in manpower

when these al qaeda gangs started this their  uprising in benghazi - the first thing gadaffi did was to LOWER THE PRICE OF FOOD IMPORTS, he then started talking about disbanding some of the committees in order to do away with the bureaucratic govt because he felt that these bureaucracies were corrupt and were preventing more of the oil revenue from reachign the people of libya, his main complaint against the western oil companies was that they were not paying enough for the oil that his country was supplying. Like nigeria, libya's crude oil is known as "sweet crude" becuase it does not require a lot of refining and is of a very high quality - gadaffi felt that the western oil companies were exploiting libya's cheap production prices and he threatened them with nationalisation in order to force the price up.

When these uprisings began in the arab world one of the first things gadaffi did was to remove tarrifs on food imports in order to make them cheaper for his people - lets compare that to called democratice nigeria where okonjo iweala is getting ready TO REMOVE FUEL SUBSIDY ON PETROLEUM PRODUCTS IN NIGERIA  which is going to lead to massive hikes in the price of food and transportation costs!!

this is why i agree with the above posters about the level of ignorance and stupidity among our people.

I have already answered your convoluted rantings. A fool at 40 is a fool for ever, Gadaffi after 42 years in power is a fool and a squanderer,  it took the UAE only 10 years to turn Dubai to what it is today, Look at Libya after 42 years of Gadaffi making decisions at a wimp,  no better than a corrupt, inept and epileptic Nigeria.
you are a fool!!! only a fool would be so s.tupid as to compare a cesspit like nigeria to libya and conclude that nigerian leaders have been better than gadaffi - ode!

The fact still remains Gadaffi was and is an abysmal failure, after 42 years in power and after getting more than 9 lives he only started developing his country bearly 4 years ago. Most of the mordern highways in Libya are bearly 3 years old in fact so many contracts are all on going, all ready d Chinese have lost big time as their investment  in Libya has gone to d dogs because of this upheavals.

No Nigerian had 42 years and for that reason there can be no basis for comparism
dummy - gadaffi started constructing the man made river project in 1985 and finished it in 2007 - without borrowing money from the world bank - it cost $25 billion dollars compare that to the ongoing fiasco in nigeria over common electricity supply.

libyans have access to free education, free health care and they are entitled to interest free loans to purchase a house when they get married - do your own leaders care whether you live or die?  do they care whether you are destitute or not?

didnt your hero gowon say that the life of a nigerian child is worth less than that of a european child when he was supposedly negotiating a compensation package from pfizer for the death of northern children who died from contaminated vaccines?

isnt it umaru dikko who said in the 1980s that nigerians are not yet eating out of dustbins therefore we can not admit that there is poverty in nigeria?

the reason why there is currently a lot of construction projects going on in libya is because libya was under economic sanctions for 12 years imposed by america and europe - those sanctions were only removed in 2007 and gadaffi decided to start building affordable housing, infrastructure and other projects, look at how smooth the roads in libya are, compare them to those death traps you have in nigeria.

a nigerian boxer even went to libya before this war broke out to beg for funds for his boxing career - why didnt he ask your leaders in nigeria to sponsor his career instead dummy?

if you want to talk about failure you better look at the long list of buffoons who have been misruling nigeria since 1960 - traitors, slaveboys and cowards - they are only good for selling out their own people in exchange for a share of the oil revenues, gadaffi refused to allow the american and european oil companies come into libya and ra/pe the country unlike  your obj, ibb and good luck jonathan who continue to roll over anytime america tells them to -  scum bag nigerian looter leaders couldnt give two shi.ts about their own people that is why obj has sold all of you to the IMF and shell - remember how obasanjo sent troops to kills protesters in the niger delta following instructions from shell, remember how abacha executed ken saro wiwa following the order from shell, can any nigerian leader dream of refusing to take orders from the west the way gadaffi has done?

when your so called leaders were killing each other over oil during the nigerian biafra war gadaffi was rebuilding his own nation, are you aware that when gadaffi took over in 1969 libya was one of the poorest nations in the world, this man singlehandedly built this country up from scratch and today it has the highest human development index on the african continent, nigerians even go there to work - what does that tell you fool?

gadaffi built a man made irrigation and water supply system without borrowing money from any international bank - shall we compare that to those ba.stards in nigeria that have borrowed billions of dollars which we are still paying back with nothing to show for it?

You got that right.  Libya is going to end up just like nigeria where you have a useless puppet carrying out the dictates of america and europe - the upsetting thing about this whole thing is that 90% of the population of libya do not want this criminal gang.

Before this current attack on Tripoli NATO threatened to burn the entire city if Gadaffi refused to relinquish power, they are currently using helicopters which are flying low to strafe ANYONE who tries to fight to repel the rebels from Tripoli, this was how the rebels were able to gain access into Gadaffi's compound, looting, rap.e and murder is going on as we speak while the western media totally ignores it and reports LIES, LIES, LIES. As you know these lies have already been exposed when Saif al islam who is supposed to have been arrested made a reappearance.

whyis the world allowing this atrocity to happen.

read this:

NATO is using AMERICAN made Apache helicopters to kill innocent civilians who are celebrating the rout of the rebel gangs from their city, the crimes are multiple. First by US law no military weapons of any kind can be used by anyone in aggressive acts, so here is US hardware killing unarmed innocent civilians. Second, NATO was NEVER authorized to fire upon unarmed civilians. Third, the UN was never authorized to fire upon unarmed innocent civilians, so violation of both the UN and NATO charters have occurred. Also, when massive numbers of civilian deaths are involved then violation of International laws have been committed but worse than that is the violation of human rights that have occurred.

We have asked these people what they would do if Ghadafi was killed? They state that any chance there might have been in the past for reconciliation with these rebels has completely disappeared.  At one time it may have been NATO against Ghadafi but now it is NATO against the civilians. All the Libyans we meet tell us that they are now fighting for their country and their culture. When NATO blows up a power plant, it does not hurt Ghadafi, it hurts the people, when NATO blockades fuel and food and medicine, it does not hurt Ghadafi, it hurts the people, when NATO bombs the civilian neighbor hoods, it does not hurt Ghadafi, it hurts the people, and the list goes on.

Why the resentment? The "People of Libya" welcomed NATO airstrikes against strategic Ghaddafi targets.
no they didnt - the rebels invited NATO in for their own wicked and selfish objectives -  they are not representative of the people of libya.

NATO which is led by america is currently murdering innocent men, women and children in libya because of the oil wealth that they cant wait to get their hands on, perhaps its time america got a taste of their own medicine.

This is crazy!!!! After destroying the goodness of Gadaffi in Libya, the prosperity he created for his people, the future and the values of selfworth he gave the libyans and the sense of togetherness and bright future he proposed for the , development of Africa. The International Criminal Court (ICC) now wants to prosecute him from crimes against humanity, an organisation Libya is not a consignatory of ( the last time i checked). makes me laugh, no wonder countries like Nigeria and other petroleum exporting countries in Africa are backward and are in abject poverty cos they are dummies and muppets of the western world. I honesty dont know what is right or what is wrong again, in my next life i just want to be an alien, just fly sausers around and make funny noises

Hmmmm. NATO and the UK have so far succeeded in taking Africa apart once again, first it was the food basket of Africa, Zimbabwe and now Libya, now what we have left as african leaders are muppet and arse.holes, it makes me wonder how silly africans are, why cant our african leaders protest and withdraw from the commonwealth, the IMF, UN and other international communities in protest, i mean afterall, this international organisations are created by the white man to exploit africa, tobe sincere its pains me that again the white man have succeded in doing what white people love to do most which is, enslaving, invading ,and murdering on a large scale all in the name of spreading  democrazy.

so many countries in africa and the western world  preach the system democrazy and none and once again none can boast the wealth of infrastrusture and standard of living in libya ,

Democracy? Is that when you invade another country (A lot weaker than yours,) kill innocent people, steal all their national resources, tell everyone how to run their country, when they seem incapable of running their own (15 trillion dollars of debt, so far!) Great!!! Anyone who thinks that's the way to go is just 'braindead'!. Its very sad to see my beloveth continent going to waste
bro you are so on point.

this world we live in is a world which is now under the control of satanic terrorists (NATO) these demons know that their economies are finished this is why they are recolonising africa, the people i pity are foolish nigerians who do not understand that if these bastards get away with this EVERY SINGLE AFRICAN COUNTRY WILL BE UP FOR GRABS INCLUDING NIGERIA - its as simple as that - one brazilian analyst predicted all of this about 6 months back - he talked about how NATO headed up by america will embark on the recolonisation of the african continent - the reason they are doing this is to STOP CHINA'S BREAKNECK ECONOMIC GROWTH - china had millions of dollars worht of investments in oil and gas contracts in libya, it also has major investments in angola and nigeria - this is why america is spreading propaganda about boko haram in nigeria - i can tell you that those are all CIA sponsored operations.

listen to the vultures already preparing for how they will divide up their prize:

it is not over yet, these vultures should not count their chickens before they are hatched, they have been using psycholoigical warfare (psy ops) to demoralise the libyan people thinking that they could have a very easy victory.

look at how they disgraced themselves when they were caught lying about saif al islam - shame on them - the libyan people and all freedom loving people of the world see through their bullshi.t

i pity those arab racists who invited european satanic demons into their own country to kill their own people  - these scum are so devoid of intelligence that they actually think these satanic europeans are going to allow them to control all of those vast oil reserves plus 144 tonnes of gold bullion - already, britain is talking of sending in ground troops to "maintain peace and order" hahahahaha - those arab scum will be so shocked when they realise that they will never smell the oil wealth of that country. every single european country is scrambling to get a piece of the action in libya, they have even started re negotiating the oil contracts!!!! american construction companies are scrambling to get in to libya to take up the rebuilding contracts - what kind of world are we living in where evil prevails - is there a god at all?

long live muammar gaddafi!!!
