british intelligence have now come out openly to admit that they had been actively  involved in the overthrow of the libyan govt since February, they now openly admit that they had spies, ex SAS and MI6 on the ground in libya as far back as February this year - weapons, communications were all supplied to the rebels in order to accelerate the removal of the libyan govt:
So let me understand. You people's support for Gaddafi's dictatorship is purely based on his provision of a higher standard of living than can be found in many, if not all African countries?
let me ask you a question - would you rather live in supposedly democratic nigeria with no running water, death trap roads, no electricity, no social welfare safety net and no security or the libyan jamahiriya which was  a socialist state run by various  people's  committees who catered for the needs of their people and were able to provide good roads, constant electricity, free eduation and health care, state of the art hospitals and a clean environment?

Pray tell why you guys did not move to Libya then to enjoy this wonderful paradise. Someone above mentioned democracy as being a bad thing. Please tell me you don't live in any western country because if you do then that would be most hypocritical of you.
do you know anywhere in the western world where democracy is being practised in its pure form because i dont, western countries are run and controlled by the international banks and mutinationals.  govts in europe and america serve the interests of powerful corporations they do not serve the interests of their electorate, politicians get into office through donations from these powerful interests and once there they pass laws which ensure that these corporations remain rich and powerful. It has always been like this, the rich and powerful have always been in control while everyone else has been expected to take orders from them, the rights that many people in the western world enjoy today like collective bargaining, equality rights , disability rights etc were not given out on a platter - they were fought for by poor and workign people and now they are all being taken back - look at what is happening in america now - obama has given in to right wing reactionaries who want the total abolition of any form of welfare for the poor, elderly or sick - here in britain cameron who is a public school educated elitist bends over backwards to keep his banker friends in the city of london happy by bailing them out with tax payers money while the poor bear the burden of this by having to pay higher taxes and cuts in social welfare programmes -is that your idea of democracy?

You give the example of Nigerian democracy having achieved nothing for 50 yrs but then neglect to mention that in that period we have had only about 6 yrs of true democracy. We have had military dictatorships and have had supposedly "civilian" rulers who rigged themselves into power.
the so called 6  year democratic period that you refer to is when nigeria imposed the most draconian economic policies on its populace, obasanjo - the supposedly democratically elected president implemented some of the most draconian economic policies you could ever imagine - policies which were designed to keep nigerians trapped in poverty for ever.  it was during his tenure in office that nigeria's sovereignty was hijacked by the  international financial institutions - and this is still an ongoign process - this is why poverty and unemployment is rising in nigeria -

I would also love you to explain the success of scandinavian countries who have the highest standard of living in the world. When you talk of Free education I have a friend who just went back to her native Sweden to go to medical school for free because she couldn't afford the cost of studying in the US. Are you going to say that Sweden is not a democracy?
yes, sweden is one of the few european countries that is actually implementing a fairer and more equitable economic system - but they are the exception to the rule.

Your arguments are better directed at Capitalism as an economic system not democracy as a political one. Libya can be the utopia you all claim it is without one man and his family terrorising the whole country like it is his personal property. If Libya was such a paradise there would not be such a popular uprising. People deserve not to live in fear.
like i said the majority of european countries do not practice democracy, america is definitely not a democracy it is a plutocracy - which is where power and money is concentrated in the hands of a tiny group of super rich elitists - these elitists use their power and vast wealth to buy and control the govt who in turn serve their interests.

your argument against one man ruling libya for so long holds no water - the british elite have been running britain for over 600 years and they are still in power, the founding fathers of america were slave owners, merchants and pirates - the descendants of these people still run america, before you can run for the presidency in america you have to be in a position where you can afford to spend millions of dollars on campaign trails - this automatically excludes about 90% of the population, the vast majority of american senators and congress men are from wealthy backgrounds - the majority of britain's former prime ministers are oxford or cambridge educated - these are elite institutions only accessible to a few in society - mainly the rich and powerful.  in america the political class are mainly harvard and yale men and women - the western political class is dominated by the elite, you can not call your govt democratic when the people who represent you only come from the elite class.

@cap 28
i just observed something interesting
libya has been omited from the economic indexes of countries .In that way one cant examine the standard of living in libya here are a few sitess

http://www.economywatch.com/economic-statistics/economic-indicators/GDP_Per_Capita_PPP_US_Dollars/2011/
why am i not suprised?

this is typical of the kind of dirty tricks the us and british intelligence agencies play - they know that if people realise how high the libyan standard of living was, people will start to realise that they have been lied to all along

I don't care about what people think about somebody ruling for life, all I care about is to see human rights enforced, freedom uphold and justice and equity become the order of the day and Gaddafi leave that country for the people.

People should stop coming here with backward talks as if Libya is the only country in the world that produces petroleum while defending a killer and tyrant like Gaddafi. It is surprising to know that somebody is saying Libya was poor during 1960s that he turns the country around and give the people basic needs and move the things forward. Sorry to say such person only read about Libyan history and forget to touch how much oil was discovered in during the 60s.

Meanwhile, the people asked for a change and it must be given to them. They can't condone being enslaved - many Libyans are fed up of living the way there are under Gaddafi. I hear some Libyans saying this is the best thing that has happened to them, that they have been looking forward to this change and not matter what happens they just want a change.

Before people start defending Gaddafi and his govt the the people say they don't want him and who are you to say they don't know what they are getting into. Come on you guys are addressing this issue as if Libya is the only oil producing country without foreign interference. Country like Quatar, Bahrain, Omar, etc are Arab nations that has made giant stride in providing for their citizens under different forms of govt more or less the type of govt which Gaddafi dethroned.

We should stop making dictators look like they are good or genuine. They are myopic and good at imprison, killing and brainwashing of their citizens which the present generation of youths are against.

The citizenry can't trade their freedom for mere dictator who blindfolded them with what I would called 'fools paradise', where their needs are based on what the govt. offer not what they can do with what they have. I hear that an average Libyans lack any form of skills in work places, that foreigners do everything for them. They must be spoiled under a leader who only cares to stay in power forever through the use of deceitful tools which blind them from reality.

Above all, I think average Libyans will disagree with those of you defending Gaddafi, if not threaten by his tyranny.
your logic is really upside down - so dropping missiles on innocent civillians is your own idea of bringing them democracy

strafing civllians with apache helicopters in democracy in  your book

ra/p/ing women and children is democracy as well?

bombing water treatment plants, hospitals, food storage sites and schools is democracy?
the no 1 murderers on the face of this planet are the north atlantic terrorists who are intent on stealing an entire country away from its rightful owners

the rebels do not represent the majority of the libyan people they are a small minority and most of them are al qaeda terrorists who have been beheading, rap.ing and butchering innocent people in libya - would you want to ruled by such a barbaric group of people?

Qatar and Bahrain are US puppet states who terrorise their own populations - have you forgotten what the bahraini govt did to peaceful protesters recently.

saudi arabia operates one of the most brutal dictatorships on the planet but because they are a US puppet state they are protected.

im glad you recognised that gadaffi spoiled his people making them lazy and unwilling to work, you are so used to being abused and degraded by your own govt that you think it is not the responsiblity of a govt to provide for its citizens.

and you expect respect?

why would anyone respect a coward and a traitor?

havent you done enough damage as it is?

do you think you are safe?  dont forget mubarak was an american puppet but the people still forced him out when he made their lives unbearable - better watch your back!!!

simple question,if a man has been ruling Nigeria for 40 yrs,how many of you will be happy, abacha ruled for for common 5yrs and there was riot all over naija, obasanjo was looking for extra yrs and people almost went crazy,if you as Nigerians cant stand that happening in Nigeria, why would u wish same for Libyans.frankly,i don't care who got Gaddafi out of office, just glad he is gone for regardless of what he has done for his country,no country should be turned into your personal family,no leader has ruled Nigeria for half as long as Gaddafi ruled Libya,America has their faults don't get me wrong and i have not stated my support for the acts of the country but at the same time, when you have all these corrupt African leaders who never call their members to order,it only leaves a vacuum which someone else will fill
like the saying"if you do not act like a parent to your child,he/she will find a parent outside and just pray that the parent found will have a positive influence on your child"
any person offended by earlier comments,i tender my apology for i feel we should be able to get our points across without bitterness
let me wake you up to reality - the hausa fulani oligarchy have been ruling nigeria for 50 years, who do you think installed them in power in 1960?

the british helped the hausa fulani elites to rig the 1960 elections, they even tampered with the 1959 census which ensured that the northerners would rule nigeria for perpetuity, this is why the january 1966 coup had to be stopped in its tracks and labelled an igbo coup when in fact it was a NATIONALIST coup designed to remove the british approved northern puppet govt of tafawa balewa and ahmadu bello (who was the power behind the throne)

what is the difference between being ruled by a succession of northern elites for 50 years and one man for 42 years?

at least gadaffi actually used the oil revenues to improve the living standards of his people - what did the northerners do for the average nigerian? they didnt even help the poor in their region, just other elites within the same clique.

spare me the sanctimonious drivel - libya as at 1969 when gadaffi seized power in a bloodless coup was one of the poorest nations in the world - within a space of 40 years, gadaffi modernised the country, provided a social welfare safety net in order to ensure no-one was homeless or starving and offered scholarships to anyone who was interested in furthering their education right up to university level -all this was done despite 12  years of draconian economic sanctions imposed on the country by the west   - what have your own leaders done for you?

with the possible exception of probably buhari and maybe the late murtala muhammed who are both hated by the west can you tell me which nigerian leader that has ever done anything constructive for the average nigerian?

by the way murtala muhammed was assasintated by the CIA and buhari was toppled by another CIA sponsored coup and replaced with traitor in cheif babangida who sold nigeria lock stock and barrell to the IMF, so what is your point?

obasanjo and babangida are the biggest traitors nigeria has ever produced they are the main architects of nigeria's economic woes but do you see the west criticising them?  obasanjo is untouchable - he has godfathers in washington who are protecting him thats why he is still alive - same thing with babangida - but these individuals committed some of the most heinous crimes you will ever imagine against the nigerian people.  Isnt it ironic that  a man like gadaffi who refused to allow american and british oil companies to rampage through his country  is the one that is now in fear of his life while known criminals like obasanjo and babangida can walk around in nigeria as free men?

The rebels are NOT in control of Tripoli its all porpaganda! NATO is using phycological warfare to demoralise Gadaffi and his soldiers. They have bombed Libya for 2 days continuously! - they are desperate for victory before their money and mandate runs out.

1. why did the rebels not release a picture of Saif?

2. Insert Quote
  ALJAZEERA
23 min 21 sec ago - Libya
Reports say Mohammad Gaddafi, son of the Libyan leader has escaped from custoday after being captured by opposition fighters yesterday. He was aided by Gaddafi loyalists.

The second son escaped! and no one is talking about it! pure hypocrisy, I got it from an aljazeera blog.
This what i feel as well - this tactic of spreading false propaganda is a common tactic of US and british intelligence agencies.

the questions you've asked are the same ones i was askign when i heard that gadaffi's son's had been captured - wouldnt you think that the first thing they would do woudl be to broadcast live video footage of the son's in captitivity?

i do not watch al jazeera because it is run by a qatari billionaire who is a collaborator with the british and us intelligence agencies.

definitely do not even bother with the bbc, cnn, abc and all those other media who.res.

i rely on independent journalists like the guy in that link i posted, there's another independent journalist by the name of lizzie phelps - she was actually reporting from tripoli yesterday saying that the capital was completely in the hands of gadaffi's army.

the whole story about gadaffi's son escaping from rebel custody is another fairy story made up by al jazeera - i dont think he was ever captuired in the first place, dont forget these are the same liars who told us gadaffi had run away to venezuela when this thing first kicked off, as for saif al islam being under house arrest - i'll beleive it when i see the footage of him in rebel custody which will never surface.

Yes dumb Africans with an inferiority complex and think europeans are Gods.  Why else would you stand up for people who killed, rapped, robbed and enslaved your people for 480 years? Then had the nerve to repeat those attrocities in the name of Colonialism? Did they compensate Africa after the crimes? How must Africa recover then tell me?

Yes! Mugabe was the original Mandela, he forgave white people and thats why they settled in his country. He simply wanted to take back some of the 70% of land stolen by whites who were around 3% of the population.  He did so in a hostile manner because they were plotting to topple him politically so they could take over the country.  Now if you remember all that happened was they were evicted and a few of them had a bloody nose – thats it.

As a result the west took revenge on him and imposed economic sanctions.  Now surely you know that economic sanctions cripple countries dont you? If he was so bad why did the Queen of England give him a Knighthood, the highest honour in England and invite hom to her palace? Zimbabwe is not resource rich so he must have been a pleasant fellow. South Africa is currently carrying out land reform; by taking land back from white farmers who STOLE it, why have the west not imposed economic sanctions?

Libya had the highest living standards in Africa before the invasion! The man had an alternative system of government – it was all in his green book; Tony blair even stole the idea from him and called it “the Third Way”. Do you think western democracy is the only form of government? Is china democratic? Has china changed leadership?  He has not spent half of what the frivolous saudis spend in a month! Why not bomb them? Because they give US and England defence contracts worth tens of billions.
thank you bro.

dullard africans are so full of inferiority complex that they dont even think europeans have a case to answer with regard to the atrocities that they have committed and continue to comitt against africans.

I urge these dullards to spend some time researching american and european foreign policy with regard to africa and when they find out what these people have in store for african people maybe  a light might just go on in their heads.

israel received billions of dollars in compensation from america and europe to compensate them for the holocaust, to date  israel STILL receives $3billion a year in military aid from america excluding other financial assistance and yet dullards in africa think europe owes us nothing despite the fact that europe continues to ra.pe, pillage and plunder africa.

these same dullards still cant get their heads around the fact that the europeans look upon them with nothing but contempt and disgust and are amazed at how africans continue to allow them to get away with even more atrocities.

i just overheard an american white house official gloating on newsnight over the "collapse of gadaffi's regime" this individual actually went as far as saying that the takeover of libya was cheap as no americans lives were lost in the "liberation" of libya!!!

what about the thousands of innocent libyan men, women and children that were massacred by NATO bombs, apache helicopters and marauding rebels?

Look i don't believe in your Anti-west sentiments.

The problem with Africa is from Africans.

Do you also want to blame the West for Zimbabwe crisis.

If Gaddafi is actually the good man that you preach .

How come Libya has no other leader for the past 40 years, instead him and his Son were ruling.
you dont understand anything about the world, neither do you understand that almost all african countries, with the exception of libya and zimbabwer are under western control - western banks and multinationals own and control african countries - Libya was the only african country which had never surrendered its economic and political sovereignty to the imf and the world bank, Mugabe started off as a western puppet when he agreed to allow the white racists to retain ownership of 90% of the most fertile land in zimbabwe despite the fact that they only comprised 2% of the entire population.

Mugabe became the west's worst enemy the minuite he decided to take back the land from the western parasites and give it back to the rightful owners, like i said you defend and make excuses for them but they hate you, all they want from you is your land and your natural resources, they do not want your progress in life.

It  is easy to come here and blame the West for the problem in Africa.

Yet we African easy run to the West for refuge.

Even the Almighty Muammar Gadaffi cannot keep his stolen fund in Libya, instead he went to the west
Those libyan rebels are criminals, butchers and terrorists - are you aware that they hate black africans?  are you aware that they have been beheading and hanging their fellow black libyan citizens many of whom are from a tribe that remain loyal to muammar gadaffi?

are you aware that they hate gadaffi because he wanted to form a united states of africa that could resist european annexation and control?

are you aware that those racist arabs in benghazi hated him because he identified more with africans than arabs?

are you aware that NATO and the western media pretended as if they didnt know what was going on when these same rebels were slaughtering black african people in benghazi?

NATO armed, financed and fought this war on behalf of these al qaeda criminals - NATO are only interested STEALING LIBYA'S HUGE OIL RESERVES TOGETHER WITH THEIR VAST GOLD BULLION WHICH GADAFFI WISELY KEPT HIDDEN AWAY IN LIBYA.

NATO have been using apache helicopters to strafe innocent civillians on almost a daily basis in order to force gadaffi to relinquish power - why are they doing this? to protect civillians? If you beleive that then you need your head examined.

why didnt NATO intervene to protect you in nigeria when obasanjo dropped bombs on the people of Odi or Gbamaratu?

the british and american govt has already STOLEN OVER $32 BILLION DOLLARS FROM THE LIBYAN SOVEREIGN WEALTH FUND - why is it so hard for you to understand that europeans hate you, why is it so hard for you to understand that they want to keep you enslaved for life - why is this so hard for you to understand?

africans are so dumb!!!
fools who live in abject poverty have the nerve to demonise a man who provided free education to all of his citizens from primary to university level - can any nigerian leader boast of doing that?

fools who dont have clean running water or constant electricity still have the time to criticise a man who built one of the biggest underground water supply and irrigation systems in the world known as the great man made river - has any nigerian leader been able to provide you with 24 hours constant electricity ?

obasanjo and that world bank puppet okonjo iweala took a whole $12 billion dollars and handed it over to the western countries while millions of nigerrians continue to live on less than $1 a day and you have the nerve to think you are better off than libyans who enjoyed a better standard of living than many european countries.

gadaffi provided free health care, built state of the art hospitals for his people and in your own country you still die from minor illnesses because of poor health care facilities.
gadaffi never borrowed a penny from the IMF or world bank - your own leaders amassed billions of dollars in debt and left the poverty stricken populace to pick up the tab and yet you fools still have the guts to think you are better off under a bunch of black colonialists - shame on all of you fools.

those  bas.tards that have invited the north atlantic terrorists into their own country because of wickedness and greed will never know peace in their lives, if they think that NATO will ever allow them to touch the vast oil reserves as well as over 140 tonnes worth of gold bullion that gadaffi wisely kept in libya they are living in a dream world, these arab racists will curse the day they ever had any association with the criminal entity known as NATO.

Nigeria and Angola you are number 2 and 3 respectively in terms of oil reserves and chinese investments  - get ready.

we now live in a world where evil prevails, we now live in a world where a criminal organisation - north atlantic terrorist organisation (NATO) can invade a sovereign state, kill thousands of innocent civillians under the pretext of protecting civillians, bomb the country to smithereens , support brutal satanic murderers and then move in and STEAL RIGHT FROM UNDER THE NOSES OF THE ENTIRE WORLD the natural resources of a sovereign nation, stu.pid africans open your dumb eyes - you are next - this is just the beginning of the recolonisation project of africa AKA africom.

@ cap happy sunday hope you doing good.
1. Nigerians are not thought their history, I remember as a kid in history and social studies classes was more of a lesson of white bravery and humanism,The nigerian history i learnt was that lord lugard almagamated the south and north to form one country. Was told how mongo park discovered river niger and how mary slessor stoped the killing of twins in crossriver.
The result , u loose your history and get conditioned with a new one and it has a pattern, i>e nigerians were savages who killed children, africans had no history prior to the arrival of the european, the european was always there to save us like superman, This creates a subconscious mind that equates black== useless,
this is so obvious in companies in nigeria todayyy,

2. in religion classes, they told us that our Gods were pagans , evil blood suckers, that we shouldn't look at them or even find out the history, We were thought to pray for everything and wait for Gods(chrisitanity) time. I was thought that the white man brought his religion and it was a priviledge for us to be converted cause our souls were dammed.

the result, A group of people who have no spirituality and only go to church because they have been conditioned too, our customs have also been lost because our traditional religions were also our libraries, we have no military knwoledge.have lost our sciences. A group of people who think its africans lot to suffer on earth , The indians still have their own religions.
e.g the dogon ethnic group found in mali today have know the existence of siruis long before the europeans knew it but it was preserved because their religion remains intact . they refused to be converted to islam,

i didnt know all these until i began to ask questions (in africa a young man asking questions is attributed to madness ), i have read the works of john henrik clark,, ivan sertima,, frantz fannon and many moree,
i have also realised that we had great kingdoms in nigeria,, ife, benin, aro, oyo, nok,

in regards to libya, it pains me when i see fellow africans being happy that nato is bombing the hell out of libya to get kaddaffi out, they refuse to acknowledge that he is a threat to certain people who want to have a field day in africa. they also refuse to think globally and think africa exists only in nigeria, (we dont know it all and so we have to seek for knowledge) but sme people never get it,

Cap that quote sums it al upp. know thyselfffff and know thy enemyyyy,
would add some
learn your history because your history tells you your present and plan for your future,
Hey my man im cool. Hope you're well too.

you are right, nigerians are completely brainwashed - this was done purposely to keep most of us docile and meek.  this is why we have been under the heel of the europeans for so long, its not so much physical enslavement anymore its more psychological enslavement.  you are totally correct about our educational system  - it is designed to foster a sense of inferiority in us and make us look up to the white people as our saviours - this is why so many nigerians automatically buy into anything western no matter how damaging it is to our well being.

The blacks in the western world are subjected to the same brainwashing - its even worse in the west because blacks are in the minority and are surrounded by eurocentric culture and ideas - anything that is different from this is seen as backward.  Africa and africans are depicted as backward and primitive by the western media, this is one of the major reasons why wherever you go in the western world as a black person you are not respected, the terrible image that is created by the western media makes whites and people of other races look down on blacks - again this is done intentionally - its called psychological conditioning, the aim is to keep black people psychologically crippled, a person who is mentally weak is easier to control and fool.

its important for us to undo the damage caused by years of brainwashing - you've done the right thing by seeking the truth from africans who tell the truth and not the usual lies and misinformation spread by so called western historians.

other good black authors to read are: chinweizu ibekwe, walter rodney, amilcar cabral, there are also some very good white historians and political scientists who  give an honest account of what is going on in the world like: michael parenti - if you can, try and  get hold of his book called Against Empire - in this book parenti explains in detail the ruthless agenda of of the US empire - once you read that book so many things that are happening in the world today will become very clear to you, another great american author is Noam Chomsky who is a professor of linguistics  - he's a great critic of american foreign policy and he exposes why america is involved in so many conflicts all over the world.

anyway bro, you're on the right path, an intelligent mind is one that always asks questions which is what you are doing - you refuse to be bamboozled and it will stand you in good stead.

never be afraid to seek knowledge because knowledge is power , peace bro.

quote by an ancient chinese military general Sun Tzu :

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.
nigerians - do we know ourselves talk less of our enemies? they say  failure to understand and learn from history condemns you to repeat the same mistakes over and over again.

speak for yourself - i never thought he was a devil, the real devils are the ones who have enslaved africa using debt peonage. The real devils are the people who smile in your face but plot how to wipe you off the face of the earth by using biological weapons, wars and famine.

If Gadaffi were a devil why did he stump up millions of dollars to pay for africa's first satellite system which enabled africa to have access to cheap telecommunications and not have to rent from europe at extortionate rates?

The real devils are the people who install puppet leaders over you and keep them in power for decades, the real devils are the scum who come in to your country and steal the entire wealth of your country and then turn around and say they are "privatising" it in order to create jobs and create competition.

africans will never learn - china is covertly taking over africa and we are still asleep - the chinese govt have sent millions of chinese settlers to africa but we are still fast asleep - i hope it will not be in my lifetime that i will see the complete chinese annexation of africa - if you think the europeans were brutal - wait and see how nice the chinese will turn out to be.

he may not be the first nigerian president to speak about removal of fuel subsidies but he will be the first one to actually implement it, but as long as you are happy paying more for food and transport then thats okay - hope you're enjoying GEJ's fresh air - no offence  grin grin grin

But the Beninois, Cameroonians and Nigeriens who get to enjoy cheap fuel at Nigeria's expense will.
i have no idea how you came to that conclusion - removal of fuel subsidy equals increases in the price of petrol as well as other domestic fuels like gas and kerosene which the vast number of nigerians depend on.

This in turn has a knock on effect on food prices and other goods which have to be transported from where they have been produced to where they are sold.
in other words the removal of fuel subsidies equals a rise in the cost of living for the average nigerian who are s already struggling as it is.

The biggest joke is the fact that you dimwits in nigeria actually think this woman has anything positive to offer you - unless you call mass unemployment, destitution and poverty a postiive thing, they say fool me once shame on you, but fool me twice then shame on me- it will take at least another 50 years of blatant criminality on the part of the nigerian elite to wake up dull nigerians who still do not understand that okonjo iweala is a world bank agent who seeks to continue to sell off nigerian assets and resources to her employers in america -by the way when are they removing the fuel subsidy? hope all of you are bracing yourselves for a further plunge in your living standards.

america is e currently in the early stages of a depression not a recession , unemployment is rising and recent american university graduates make up the highest number of unemployed people in america.

In england it is even worse - dont know if you were following the riots that happened here 2 weeks ago, majority of the people involved in the looting were between the ages of 18-25 - again this group is currently suffering very high levels of unemployment.

the only way you would survive in the west now with all this going on is if you have enough money to pay the exorbitatnt school fees that they charge foreign students as well as money to sustain yourself - if not you will end up in a really bad situation, at the end of the day its up to you but it is now fairly obvious that the west is no longer a place where jobs and opportunities abound as was the case about 10 years ago.

Nigeria and White Supremacy

"If you don't understand white supremacy--what it is, and how it works -- everything else that you understand will only confuse you."

The picture painted by Franklyn, though illuminating as far as it goes, does not go far enough. It is like a picture of a train that leaves out the engine. To complete the picture we need to add the role of the white supremacy institutions of the new imperialism in initiating and maintaining the disaster that is Nigeria.

If we understood the devious ways of white supremacy, in this stage of what Nkrumah called "Neo-colonialism", we would see that my account and Franklyn's are not contradictory or alternative accounts, but are complementary. Franklyn describes the body of the snake, I pointed at its head [albeit in passing, in the context of our discussion of white supremacy.] The combined and fuller picture allows us to see how the mess in Nigeria serves a white supremacy which manipulates Nigeria through institutions like the IMF, the World Bank, the UN agencies, The (British) Commonwealth, which link Nigeria to the global system of white supremacy.

Nigeria, like other black African countries, has been misruled by local Black Comprador Colonialists whose paramount interest is to preserve the subordination of their countries to the imperialist interests of their "former" colonial masters. It is that subordination that permits them to loot their own people for their imperialist masters, and allows them, as the junior partners and agents of imperialism, to keep a share of the loot, which is their own consuming interest. Of course, to that end they have frustrated, in their own local interests, any attempt to develop an autonomous polity that is answerable to its own people, that responds to the will/desires of its own people. A Nigerian polity that responds to its own people would have less to hand over to the imperialist masters, and would come under imperialist pressure and attacks. A current example is Mugabe's Zimbabwe. For so long as Mugabe did not try to take back the land stolen by the whites, he was okay. But when he began to respond to his people's land hunger, he became a pariah and came under sanctions and destabilization from the white supremacist powers like the UK, the USA and the EU. In contrast, Nigeria, under Obasanjo, handed to the foreign creditors a whopping $12bn to allegedly get Nigeria debt-free (which it did not) while leaving Nigeria with badly decayed roads, power supply, education, etc that still need massive capital injection to refurbish them. Needless to say, the debt-free mirage was just a scam. Nigeria is still not debt free and still goes aborrowing. But since Obasanjo was a loyal servant to the white imperialist powers, he had a free hand to rig elections, sack villages that contested his misrule (e.g Odi in the Niger Delta was sacked by Obasanjo's soldiers), and to loot to his greed's content. By the way, the bulk of the loot from what is misnamed "corruption" gets stashed away in the banks of Europe and America, thus adding to the total plunder that the imperialists extract. In that way, even the much decried corruption of the Nigerian elite ends up serving the white powers. It also bribes the Black compradors with part of the imperialist loot so they don’t buck the system.

We need to keep this fuller picture in view if we are to understand the so-called "failed state" of Nigeria. Nigeria, from the viewpoint of its population, is a failed state, has always been a failed state, i.e. a state that has failed to serve them or address their interests. And it has been that way right from its founding by the British a century ago. But it is not yet a failed state from the standpoint of its British and other imperialist masters. It has always served the white power interest, and consistently, at the expense of the interests of its population, during both the period of White Expatriate colonialism which ended in 1960, and the period of Black Comprador colonialism that began in 1960. We need to be ever mindful of these two senses of the phrase “failed state”.

Incidentally, though Nigeria is financially in a position to give free education to all its citizens--lets leave aside the matter of the damaging white supremacist content of that education-- part of why it does not do so is that much of its resources is pumped abroad to the coffers of the white supremacists through "debt" repayments and the routine looting by the foreign companies and their Nigerian comprador agents. If Obasanjo had chosen to apply to Nigeria's needs the $12bn he eagerly handed over to the white shylocks, there would be more than enough funds for the free education Franklyn is talking about, and for much else. Nigeria could become like Kuwait, Dubai etc, or even like Cuba, if it organized to use its oil earnings in the interest of its population. But for 50 years, the Black comprador colonialists have not seen fit to organize that. With their Eurocentric education and blancophile brainwashing and their mental allegiance to White supremacy, they have fallen for every conman advice that the white supremacists gave them on "development", especially through the IMF and the World Bank and the foreign aid outfits like Britain's ODA and America's USAID.

The ways of white supremacy are comprehensively devious. In fact one of its uses for the "independence" imperialism granted its colonies was to enable it deny responsibility for what its Black comprador agents do to their own people, even though it is all part of what they are prompted and encouraged to do for the continuing imperialist plunder of these "ex-colonies". These black misgovernments are serving as monkey's paws and fall guys for the plundering of Black Africa by and for the white powers.

Like the Black Slavers in the era of the Chattelization Wars, a.k.a. the Slave Trade, and like the plantation overseers and house niggers of ante-bellum USA, the Black colonialists of today operate within the framework and mandate given them by white supremacy, but they add their own peculiar twists to the master's mandate. The executive anarchism of the Nigerian comprador elite just happens to be, perhaps, the most abominable of these local twists to the basic mandate given by white supremacy to its local black agents.

We all need to continually deepen and update our understanding of white supremacy and its manifold and morphing ways if we are to see its dominant and directing roles in our condition. We also need to understand the roles of its black colonialist agents among us, and their own special contributions to the mess. If you want more insights into the Nigerian case, I can send you "Black Colonialists"-- an interview I did two years ago on the roots of the trouble with Nigeria. You could also read The West and the Rest of Us, for insights on the ways and means of white supremacy especially during the post WWII transition to Black colonialism in Africa.

when i read posts like this i know that there is no hope for nigeria, i continue to wonder how people can claim that they are educated when they remain totally ignorant of what is going on in the world around them, how many times do you want to keep getting shafted by this woman before you understand that she does not serve the interests of nigeria? How many more draconian economic reforms is this woman going to subject you to before you realise that world bank and imf policies seek to keep you a slave of the west? GEJ has nothing to offer the nigerian people he is working to serve the interests of foreign banks, why is it that every other nation of people understand that they are under attack from the west except nigerians? is it that nigerians are so mentally dense that this basic fact simply does not or can not get through to them?
Keep following this woman - she is facilitating the complete economic take over of every aspect of your economy, this is why she has been given carte blanche to do whatever she wants - she is actually now more powerful than GEJ because of the backing she has from her bosses in washington.
You are about to have the worst kind of economic reforms imposed on you which will make the previous austerity you were suffering under seem like a tea party.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Will Usa Go To War With China To End Its Economic Decline? by cap28: 2:20am On Aug 21, 2011
america is already at war with china - but its currently fighting china indirectly -  its doing this by attacking and destabilising all nations where china has substantial investments. - libya is one of those nations.

the objective is to  cripple china's economic growth and force it out of all countries where it has substantial investments - oil rich countries like nigeria and angola (the second and third highest crude oil exporters in africa) are on the list of american destabilisation campaigns.

for those of you who continue to underestimate china's military capability, consider this:

in the last 15 years china has gained control over three major sea ports in mexico, one in the bahamas, 5 in south america including the panama canal which was actually built by the united states!!! they were even granted a long lease of an american sea port - long beach, california!!! now some cynics might say - so what, but can you imagine how easy it woudl be for china to launch a naval invasion from the west coast of america when they are currently in control of more than 10  major sea ports in that region.

Also almost all of america's south american neighbours are pro russia or china:

venezuela, nicaragua, peru, brazil , bolivia, uruguay, paraguay, argentina, honduras, guatemala  and panama
these countries will all serve as launch pads for china.  Cuba, Nicaragua Ecuador and Venezuela have formed a joint anti US military group which many other south american countries are joining.

China has a standing army of 1.6 million personnel and its other allies include russia, north korea, syria and iran.

The chinese have managed to steal a lot of america's military technology and are working very hard to build a military capabilitly which will pose a major threat to america's military machine.

the last time america attempted a full scale war with china (the korean war) america was humiliated and suffered very high casualties.
so i think they will tread very carefully this time around.
but the americans will do whatever they can to prevent china's economic rise.

lol! what a joke, the prison jails or rooms in america are resembling
Nigerian boarding school Hotels lol!!!

But they most of the guys being locked up in the USA are being put their for minor offensess. Well its all cheap labour that the
elite in the USA are looking for as they are building new Private prisions faster than Federal/State Prisons.

Whoa! USA is really turning into a prison planet State.
yeah they call it the prison industrial complex and black men make up the bulk of it.  They use them as cheap labour to produce goods for sale , virtually no overheads, no wages and an endless supply of labour - does it remind you of something (slavery).

instead of providing opportunities for many of these black inmates when they were in the outside world they are indirectly steered into a life of crime through poor education and racist employment practices, as you correctly said many of them are in jail for petty crimes , Clinton introduced the 3 strikes rule in the 1990s which means that if you comitt 3 offences one of which must be a felony (a serious offence  like burglary, arson, manslaughter, murder or r.ape but in some states also includes shoplifting!! ) you end up going to jail FOR LIFE after the third crime even if that third crime occurred 20 years later and was a petty offence  !!!!!!

i have no problem with hardened criminals who refuse to mend their ways going to prison  but what about the impressionable teenager who was involved in a looting like the one in london 2 weeks ago, if he goes to america and that person is  subsequently convicted of shoplifting and public disorder offences 20 years later, that person could end up spending the rest of their natural life in prison!!!! the US has the highest incarceration rate in the western world - i am not against putting dangerous criminals in prison but i am against jailing people who are no threat to society and can be rehabilitated back into society.

If the man doesnt want to carry on with his current wife  i see no point in her (lovely)still hanging on - whats the point of living with someone who doesnt want you.

this women's organisation is a waste of space - shouldnt they be protesting about the large number of domestic violence cases that are perpetrated by nigerian men against their spouses, sounds like they've got too much time on their hands.

the only thing the guy needs to ensure right now is that he is free to remarry mercy, if not he can go through the traditional route after all oge okoye's husband was married to a dutch woman in holland at the time he married oge in a traditional ceremony in nigeria, so mercy and her prince charming can go down the same route.

mercy should open her eyes very well though and realise that  a man who denies his own child is capable of anything, not sure this guy is really worth all the trouble, i think mercy can do better.

why is this man still allowed to walk around in nigeria as a free man?

he is still carrying on with  his life and even talking about re marrying at the grand old age of 70 when many young people in nigeria may never know what its like to live  a happy and fulfilled life due to the economically destructive policies that he put in place over 20 years ago. Policies which have condemned the majority  of nigerians to a life of endless poverty. what kind of a world are we living in where criminals are honoured and respected while the honourable are ridiculed.
