sade was great back in the day, however i dont really regard her as a nigerian artist more a nigerian born artist - she left nigeria at the age of 4 following her parents divorce and was brought up in england by her white english mother and white grand parents - therefore to me she is more english than nigerian. also she tended to date white guys although her only child (a daughter) is with a black jamaican man. she was married briefly to a spanish guy but divorced him in 1995.

i liked her music back in the day though - havent listened to her most recent album but i wish her all the best as she seems quite down to earth and not desperate to be in the limelight like these other "celebrities" that we're lumbered with today.
Politics › Re: Obasanjo Is Not To Blame For Nigeria Woes by cap28: 6:03pm On Mar 09, 2010
@bluetooth i dont know what planet you've been living on but its definitely not the same one as the vast majority of the nigerian populace.

let me ask you something - are you aware that the nigerian economy was sold off wholesale to the World Bank and IMF? Are you aware that Obasanjo "restructured" our economy in line with instructions doled out by those two banks ?

do you know that some of the conditions that nigeria is now having to comply with as a result of restructuring our economy includes:

cutting of jobs
devaluation of our currency
cutting public spending in the following areas:

health care
education
opening up our economy to foreign investors who have come in to buy up huge chunks of our formerly govt owned industries at rock bottom prices only to provide the same services to the nigerian populace at astronomical prices.

privatisation of all former govt parastatals and utility company's ie nitel, nepa, etc do you know what the above has resulted in?

MASS UNEMPLOYMENT
POVERTY
MASS EXODUS OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN ORDER TO EARN A LIVING ELSEWHERE (brain drain)
INCREASE IN ARMED ROBBERY DUE TO LACK OF OPPORTUNITIES

Even close members of Obasanjo's cabinet are aware of the misery and suffering these economic policies have done to the nigerian masses infact not only are they aware of the damage but they have also confirmed that these policies are in breach of our constititution.

In other words your hero Obasanjo has sold nigeria lock stock and barrell to europe and america.

how do you feel about that.

Monique is suspect have personal issues with herself and being fat, she probably thinks she's unattractive enough to gain he total love of her husband. Just forget about her acting razzmatazz, a lady who make that kind of comment don't feel good about herself.
i agree, i think she has low self esteem and feels lucky to have a husband in the first place, also i think its hard for her to feel good about herself in a country like america where black women's beauty is not recognised and where being overweight or obese as a woman is almost on the same footing as being a leper

african american actress and comedienne recently stated in an interview that  despite being married she has no problem allowing her husband to cheat on her - she goes on to say that they have an open marriage and they have both known each other for over 25 years so she's comfortable with what they've got together.

here is an excerpt of the interview and pics of her and her husband.

this is a question for all you naija ladies out there do you subscribe to her view do you mind if your husband sleeps around - would you be willing to take him back despite countless infidelities?

GenBuhari:
Thank you Cap28.

Do you know that when he dies, all those billions he has banked in foriegn bank accounts will be lost for ever?

This guy has held the country down for the last 35years or so he has been responsible for putting us back at least 50years!

He cleared the way for clueless and very corrupt Shagari to take pwer in the 70's

I strongly suspect he was involved (together with western governments) in sponsoring IBB to overthrow the great General Buhari's Regime, who was genuinely fighting corruption at the time, for fear that he may be arrested for embezzlement.

After IBB destroyed Nigeria and left with his loot, it was IBB who installed OBJ back into power in 1999.

He then looted the country for a further 8years during boom times and failed to progress the country, looting billions in the process.

He even had an opportunity to undo his evil deed in 2007 by allowing Gen Buhari, to be freely elected, but  he rigged the election to install the corrupt and sickly Yara Dua .

Then all these moronic imbeciles are coming on here to praise him and wish him  happy birthday?

WAKE UP YoU FOOLS!  This man has placed us  in you present conditions and mortgaged the future of our generations to come!
You are welcome Gen Buhari - yes if he's put his loot in Swiss banks - im inclined to agree with you.  we are finished as a nation - we simply havent got the balls to fight for change - how can anyone in their right mind  wish this man anything good after how he sold us lock stock and barrell to the americans and british via IMF and world bank economic policies - hell fire till eternity is too good and comfortable a  place  for this b.a.s.t.a.r.d.

there is a lot of info on this animal that is currently classified in the american national archives which implicates him in the overthrow of murtala mohammed, i therefore would not be suprised if he was also involved in buhari's overthrow - this man is a first class saboteur with no morality or integrity - i would say that he exhibits the character traits of a psychopath:  manipulative and deceitful, superficial charm, over inflated ego, pathological liar, cunning, inability to show remorse or guilt , callous nature and inability to show empathy. I have researched into his background and ive found that he hob nobs with some of the most powerful members of the american political establishment, he has been instrumental in the destruction of our economy.  Dont you find it weird how he handed over to a sick and incapable Yaradua - if anyone doubts that this was a preconceived plan by him they are living on another planet - this man was intent on making hiimself a life president but when he found out that he had been rumbled by the nigerian electorate he chose to hand over to a man who he knew was ill - who he knew would not last one term due to his ill health - as i said hell fire till eternity is too good a place for this old b.a.s.t.a.r.d.

I am aware of the evil deeds of that Man when he was in office, but let me ask you one question do you expect Obasanjo to be a morally frank in a highly corrupt system,
oh i get it - if you cant beat them then just join them, then why do  you complain when you cant feed your family courtesy of these animals, why do you complain when your children receive a substandard education because of IMF policies that stipulate cuts in public spending which Obasanjo agreed to sign up to when he was president.

He did one thing for me, Obj balanced power btw the North and the south, now presidency is not the birth right of some idiots who think from their anus
power shouldnt be "balanced" between the north and the south but put in the hands of the most capable leader who has the interests  of the masses at heart

Policy making and implementation he is the best,
really? do you mean policies like mass privatisation of the public sector which caused mass unemployment and a rise in the cost of living for the average nigerian, or do you mean removal of trade tarrifs on nigerian imports causing the collapse of local businesses and the flooding of nigerian markets with imported goods - what exactly are these policies that benefitted the average nigerian?  the problem with many nigerians is that we are S.T.U.P.I.D AND IGNORANT - please open your eyes - this man has made our country a SLAVE of BRITAIN and AMERICA i would strongly advise you to read this article by a nigerian economist Professor Sam Aluko - here is an excerpt:

"Yet, it is admitted, even by all the President’s economic
team, that these “macro reforms,” which have made Nigeria
a slave to the British-directed globalization free-trade empire,
have had no measurable effect on improving the miserable
conditions of life for over 100 million Nigerians, who somehow
manage to exist on $1 to $2 a day".

"To receive the Good Housekeeping seal of approval from
the IMF, and favorable credit ratings from both the Fitch and
the Standard & Poor rating agencies, during the Obasanjo
Presidency, Nigeria forked over $12.4 billion in lump-sum
payments to the banks as part of a write-off its debt to the
Paris Club, and agreed to the privatization of 116 enterprises,
and deregulation of its telecommunications, power, and
downstream petroleum sectors. Nigeria also agreed to a new
set of IMF conditionalities and IMF surveillance in order to
receive support from the international financial community.

"Aluko shows that these reforms are not only in violation
of the Nigerian Constitution, but inimical to the welfare of
the majority of its citizens"

do these sound like the actions of a leader who gave a Zap about his own people?

Looting: He is 2nd to Abacha, stole more than IBB ---  He used a more enlighten way to loot, not the redhot
greedy stealing the Khaki boys did<< even at this IBB never stole more than him.
You deserve to live in penury because you do not reason properly

Who gave the Niger delta a voice , that is what an average northerner won't do for us, but OBj did that, cause he knew once leave oppression will continue,
which voice is that? Does Jonathan represent anything different - wasnt his wife indicted on money laundering charges?

And many more, I think he is the best

moronic idiots, praising the man who put you in hardship and your future generations.
Does not deserve an ounce of praise.

To praise this man is similar to praising an armed robber who robbed people and caused carnage in the road , for clearing the road of debris after robbery so that he drive may drive away in a getaway car without obstruction.

Any thing OBJ done was not for the interests  of Nigerian, he only did a microscopic amount of things that would benefit him directly.

Shame on all you mumus praising your oppressor!!! angry

You are so silly you deserve him to be your leader. FOOLs!! angry
dont mind them, they deserve these armed robbers and thugs who call themselves their leaders, here is a man who tried to perpetuate himself in power  as a life president in order to continue with his looting and pillage of the national treasury and these i.d.i.o.t.s are here singing praises to him.  a man who ran the country on behalf of the IMF and world bank not on behalf of his own people, a man who felt nothing wrong with agreeing with america to privatise the entire public sector and increase mass unemployment and poverty.  a man who even agreed that nigeria's population should be cut down through various insidious methods in accordance with instructions from the world health organisation so that its vast population would not be harnessed for the economic development of the country but "thinned down" so that we as the most populous nation in africa would never pose a threat to america in terms of economic development - this is the man they praise.

Fela displayed more scantily-clad women than the artistes of this generation and Fela's profanities were second to none.
The artistes are only giving back what the consumers require. U cannot blame Wande Coal for that. Blame the rot in our society.
thats not true, these women were not being expoited in the cheap and degrading way that these so called "video vixens" are.  i must admit that the women in the nigerian videos are yet to be degraded in the ways that the african american women are but we're getting there.

Fela portrayed these women as queens, their costumes were not sexually provocative and they were not put on show as cheap sexual gimmicks, they played their own part as back up singers and dancers without bringing in a cheap pornographic element.

Yes,  Fela used profanity but this did not detract from his main message which was to challenge and root out social injustice.

You are so amusing. For providing some much needed comic relief, i'll reward you with an answer
i await your response with bated breath - ooh here it is ,

Again another silly assumption.
it's amusing to see that you still think the African culture is richer than that of many people of the western world.
I never said that African culture in its entirety is richer than western culture - that would be a gross generalisation, however there are some aspects of our culture that ARE richer and we should be promoting those aspects rather than abandoning them and blindly copying and following a genre of music which is alien to who we are as a people

I can easily call them old fogies. You know why? Because it's a matter of personal taste and preference.
You know the first thing i learnt when growing up? Every human being is different.
Appreciating and understanding the differences in others is the first step towards maturity.
If you cannot understand that there are people who would much rather listen to Tupac than James Brown, then i'm afraid you're still a child mentally.
i have no problem accepting difference - what i take issue with is copying at the expense of your own culture, nigeria is  a nation with diverse ethnic groups and traditions this melting pot of cultures is more than adequate to provide a vast source of creativity and invention - instead we prefer to take the easy route and copy trends which are unique to other cultures - hip hop, rnb jazz, reggae, ska, dancehall were created by blacks in america and the carribean  they drew from their unique experiences in a society which kept them in a position of inferiority - these genres are authentic because they are based on personal experiences of despair and loss - take for instance the blues - this genre came about from the negro spirituals - songs sang by african slaves whilst toiling on the plantations.

there is nothing wrong with listening to a varied mix of music, but i think there is something fundamentally wrong with a group of people abandoning their own rich heritage to take on a type of music which has no cultural relevance to its own people.

Look, if the consumers like it, then it's fine by me. And if it takes no talent to do what these fellows are doing, why arent you out there raking in the cash instead of posting embittered rants on Nairaland?
this is why we will remain backward and misinformed -everything doesnt have to be about money you know, good musicians are people who actually have a genuine love for music, who take time out to study music (which is quite difficult) who play musical instruments and who write and compose music not the fake clowns i see on Hi Nolly who couldnt sing a note to save their lives, can not read music, cant play any musical instruments, these people are artistic phillistines but because people like you with extremely low standards who demand nothing of them buy into it they keep churning out the garbage.

There's a lot more to these people than the flashy showmanship you're complaining about. But you're too blind to see that. Check out my signature below, it describes you completely.
pray tell, is there some hidden artistic message that these clowns are sending out that im missing or is it only the great texazzpete who can see it.

Speaking of ignorance, your scathing dismissal of Nigerian videos as being 'pathetic' shows how out of touch you've been with the modern reality. Top Nigerian artistes these days boast relatively good videos. If you're still watching those grainy old vids, you need to get out of the cave you've been inhabiting ASAP.
im inclined to agree with you on this - the quality of the videos is improving but the content remains substandard

Sorry, but there are many extremely powerful black men in the hip hop scene who have full oversight of the music content put out by the many black artistes in the US. Your borderline racism disturbs me slightly. Paired with your ignorance and your love for conspiracy theory, i think it's safe to say you need to take a chill pill and relax.
can you mention these "powerful black men" - do they control the marketing and distribution of their music?

what is your understanding of racism?

what conspiracy theories are you referring to?

in summary, mon ami, choice is sacred. If the public has voted to have these guys performing this way and putting out this kind of music, why are you up in arms about it?
what is your definition of "choice" and how much control does the public have over the "choices" that they make?

You think i'm happy that Yahooze shot up the charts in a nation struggling with the burden of 419? Nope! Am i thrilled that everyone seems to be using the word 'swagga' these days? Nope? But i have a life. And these things appeal to my fellow Nigerians. You don't see me coming on Nairaland like a douchebag to whine about the 'good ol' days'. I just change the channel or turn on my ipod to hear what i want.
i think the above should be the least of your concerns - perhaps if the nigerian govt could offer its youth employment,  419 wouldnt be an issue.  Dont you think your real concern should be about the way in which our country has been hijacked by a group of thugs forcing you to live in a country as an unwanted guest?

But you really amuse me, you supercilious jester. Send me your address and i'll get you an ipod filled with all the oldies you can shake your flaccid member at. That way you won't get your panties in a bunch when next Tuface comes on.
Deal?
thanx but no thanx - my brain is switched on which is more than i can say for yours, i dont need to plug myself into mindless trash in order to escape the reality of whats going on around me.

@poster
Whenever i see this type of topic, i cringe.
Rule No 1 of entertainment is to give the public what they want. And the Nigerians of nowadays couldn't care less about the old fogies you're touting as the 'Golden age of music'.
first of all the above statement shows a blatant lack of understanding of the power of music and its effects on people - music has always been used for a variety of purposes but in africa music has held a deeper meaning because our exeperiences in life are different from those in the west - what i see in the so called nigerian music industry today are a bunch of talentless american and jamaican wanna bees who lack any iota of originality or talent - the funny thing is noone outside nigeria is interested in listening to these clowns because the quality of their work is so poor - my argument is that they would do nigeria proud if only they could do away with their inferiority complex and play and sing authentic music rather than a POOR IMITATION of their african american and jamaican counterparts - it makes us look pathetic when all our young generation have to offer by  way of talent are these fake p diddy and 50 cent wanna bees.

only someone as ignorant as you would dismiss original and legendary talent like Fela Kuti, onyeka onwenu etc as "old fogies"  none of those clowns can hold a candle to Fela or Onyeka.  I cant imagine an african american dismissing marvin gaye, prince, the temptations, james brown or the four tops as "old fogies" as a matter of fact most up coming african american artistes admit that the so called old fogies served as an inspiration to them, it is only in nigeria that we seek to look outside for our inspiration instead of amongst our own people.

If the public wants to see scantily clad ladies, then how is it any issue of yours? Supply will always rise to meet demand, simple as that.
only someone as shallow as yourself thinks nothing is wrong in the objectification of women in order to sell music , have you not heard of the lowest common denominator factor - this is where you appeal to the basest human instincts in order to make money - its normally used where talent is non existent and you need some other gimmick to get consumers to buy your music, - thats the current stage that we're at in the music industry, most of the artistes out there in america and europe are low on talent - many are manufactured clones - lady gaga, suga babes, girls aloud , 50 cent they therefore resort to gimmicks - pole dancing pros, gold toothed wearing gang bangers, gratuituous displays of violence - anything that will create some sort of reaction be it negative or positive - the thing is the american artistes can get away with it because they have skilled producers, choreographers and sound engineers who can produce videos which  look glossy and professional but the nigerian ones just look like pathetic poor imitations - do you catch my drift?

I think their ambition is actually to attain fame, fortune and lots of cute chicks by selling music to an adoring fan base, but who am i to disagree with you?
exactly,  who are you to disagree with me seeing as you know virtually nothing about the music industry

There are many other ways for people to show pride in their cultural heritage than to make music to appeal to a niche group. That's why 70% of these same artistes you deride sprinkle their verses liberally with yoruba or Igbo. They can easily show their pride in their clothing, their choice of food, even the names they give their kids. Why judge them over one facet of their existence?
really?  whilst mugging to the camera with (empty) bottles of champagne pretending to be p diddy and 50 cent

what they are totally oblivious too is the fact that p diddy and 50 cent are caricatures created by white owned record labels to project a stereo typical image of black men as mindless, misogynistic gang bangers who glorify gratuitous violence, stupidity and ignorance. many whites and other non black races actually think that these are true depictions of how black people actually behave. infact i have had first hand experiences of whites expecting me to speak and behave like some ignorant gangbanging rapper simply because im a black man!!!

I'm pretty sure the part i highlighted in bold is a false assumption.
well im sorry to break it to you but you are wrong (as usual) blacks are overepresented in the music industry but as usual the way that they are marketed to the public is controlled by powerful white run corporations.

wait, isn't China running arond Africa as we speak scrambling up oil reserves?
china is engaged in legitimate trade in nigeria, it isnt fomenting wars or undermining the stability of the country unlike the US.

If our economy is mounted on a giant ponzi scheme then what does that make the economy of Nigeria built on? OIL, and imagine it'll come tumbling down once our leaders get some sense and stop giving the oil companies what they want. Besides, over 16% of our GDP is based on manufacturing, which is around $5 trillion bucks, and the service sector makes up the rest, and yes money is generated from providing services, and if you go by GNP then we produce even more than $14 trillion in goods and services. That 5 trillion is still lightyears ahead of Nigeria's gdp. though I can sympathise w/ you that the IMF and of course the world has a negative stereotype of Africa as just a land of poor people governed by corrupt governments
you're a bit confused - the american oil companies are much more powerful than the US govt, they have lobby groups who control congress and influence your govts energy policy, your congress is nothing but a toothless bull dog. i admit that if not for corruption the nigerian economy could do so much better but as ive said before  your govt uses corrupt international financial institutions like the IMF and the world bank to "restructure" our economies to suit your govts  selfish and greedy requirements.  we supply 25% of your crude oil imports - if we were as poor as your fraudulent imf and world bank claim why do you trade with us?

as for your manufacturing industry hasnt the bulk of that been shipped out of the country to third world sweat shops where your multinantionals can get people to work for starvation wages?

that isn't the U.s. govt, it's our corporations who are satin reborn. and besides, Nigeria's economy needs to gear towards manufacturing more as well. Boy imagine how much wealth would be generated if your country was capable of actually manufacturing the generators it imports.
yeah im glad you admit that they are as  you say "satin reborn" i presume you mean satan, anyway your multinationals run and own your country they are more powerful than your govt.

hopefully soon, or maybe when developing countries rise and get tired of the BS we've been giving them. but till then, don't count on it.
we are already tired of your bullshit and you guys are going to be in for a shock very soon when our militant groups resume their sabotage of the oil wells in the niger delta region - hopefully that will cause the price of oil per barrell to go through the roof again triggering a meltdown in your precarious economy.
Politics › Re: Nigerians, Will Your Country Ever Develop by cap28: 12:37am On Mar 05, 2010
@mandingo thanks for your comments

ive had a further look at Chika Onyeani's books and i understand he edits a nigerian newspaper based in the US.  as i said earlier he raises a number of very important and credible points such as:

the failure of the nigerian elite to bring about positive change for the vast majority of people in nigeria who are living in grinding poverty.

the fact that we give our money away to people who dont respect or appreciate us

our complacency in the face of oppression etc however he fails to address the ongoing aggression that progressive african leaders face the minute they stand up to america and europe and refuse to be pushed around and treated like animals - id like to know why he remains silent about the US's practice of sponsoring coup d'etats, overthrow of legitimate democratic regimes, arming and funding of dictators, the use of international financial institutions to keep africa in debt, covert counter insurgency militia groups that are trained by the US govt to overthrow progressive govts

if we are to accept Onyeani's argument that we as a race are solely to be blamed for our current predicament how does he explain a country like Haiti who actually defeated three imperial powers but is the only country in history who after defeating its enemy was forced to pay compensation to its former slave masters?

as if that wasnt bad enough europe and america imposed an economic trade embargo against them causing their country to spiral into crippling poverty and underdevelopment.

then after 60 years of isolation the americans invaded the country removed a democratically elected leader and replaced him with their puppet.

all the above caused Haiti to end up as a banana republic - Will Onyeani argue that the Haitians are to blame for these unfortunate incidents?

What Onyeani has conveniently failed to address or even recognise is that one of the major reasons that africa remains an economic basket case is because we are unable to defend ourselves from external aggression -  our  military capability simply isnt strong enough to protect the sovereignty of our respective nations.

power today is determined by military might  - the only language the white man understands is the language of violence and force - this is how they built their own nations, notice how america only attacks and invades countries which are militarily weaker but never countries which equal it militarily like russia, china or even north korea.

i read a bit more on Onyeani's background and apparently he has been courted and given various awards by a number of establishment media outlets like the New York times - im always suspicious of black people who are given recognition for their "work" by mainstream western media organisations because these people only endorse people who share their racist  views, when i look at some of the things that Onyeani is saying like "blacks shouldnt expect anything from the West - the West owes you nothing" i can see why they have given him audience.

the white man is not our friend he pits us against each other and he loves it when we are tearing each other down, no white man wants to be held responsible for the damage he has done and still continues to do to our race therefore if there is someone out there letting him off the hook and shifting responsibility away from him for all the atrocities that he has committed and continues to comitt as we speak he will embrace that person.

What else should the white man be exonerated for - should we blame the native americans for being victims of genocide perpetrated by the whites against them because they refused to willingly give up their land?  how about the mexicans are they to be blamed for losing huge chunks of their land to the whites ie  Texas,  California, Nevada, Utah, most of Arizona, New Mexico, parts of Wyoming and Colorado?

im all for accepting responsibility for things that i feel we should be held accountable for but to totally exonerate whites from their heinous crimes against humanity - that im afraid i cant do.

MzDarkSkin:
The real question should be "Why SHOULD'NT Nigerian/African artists be able to collaborate with their Jamaican and American bretheren"? I think it is shameful and pitiful to accuse us of the diaspora as being part of "white dominant" societies i mean you live in Europe come on. You act like we asked to be in the west. Do you need a historical lecture about how it is we came about? In reality. . .REALITY, American media dominates world wide.
i have nothing against nigerian/african artistes collaborating with jamaican and american artistes after all Youssou Ndour of Senegal collaborated successfully with Neneh Cherry of the UK and the late Fela Kuti collaborated with Roy Ayers an african american jazz musician, collaboration is fine as long as each person retains their originality and doesnt get caught up in trying to mimic the other, what im talking about is a situation where nigerian artistes are abandoning their rich cultural heritage to make fools of themselves mimicing the lyrics and choreography of african american and jamaican artistes instead of developing their own unique sound the way Fela did.

Dont get me wrong i love african american and jamaican music, both genres are unique which is what i like, of course jamaican artistes are internationally recognised - the late Bob Marley put Jamaica on the international music map, also brilliant artistes like Peter Tosh, Toots and the Maytals - i also love Sly and Robbie - whose musical talents are legendary however these people are revered because of their uniqueness - they bring something fresh and new to music unlike our current nigerian artistes whose only ambition is to become clones of american and jamaican artistes.

The reason we Jamaicans are on top in entertainment is because we are willing to culturally collide with the Americans, you can't expect to get love and recognition and preach separatism. Know that. Good music is good music regardless of background. Blacks in the west don't want to hear African music or Africans trying their styles? Is that why Akon is on fire in the caribbean/US? Is that why I am into Soukous, Coupe Decale, Mapouka (W. African) and Congolese dance music? And yes even the dreaded Liberian Hipco lol. Please. We love you all and your cultures. I respect your view and I respect your Naija pride but don't "look down" on us, you are flesh and bone as we are.
i think you've completely misunderstood the point i was trying to make - nobody is preaching seperatism here, what i am talking about as ive said above is uniqueness and originality - there is a difference.

all of the above  african genres that  you have mentioned are original unadulterated examples of african music that is what i call african music,  Akon is not regarded as an authentic african musician  he is one of the few african musicians who successfully crossed over to appeal to mainly american and european audiences because he sounds EXACTLY like an african american artiste, he crossed over seamlessly as if he were just another african american artiste, the nigerian artistes who copy americans and jamaicans on the other hand DO NOT sound  like americans or jamaicans  just BAD IMITATIONS - this is what i take issue with, people should learn to be proud of their own cultural heritage and seek to promote it not copy something which is alien.

again  you have failed to understand the point i was making about blacks in the west singing about their experiences in a white dominated society - are you unaware of the fact that whites make up the majority population in america and europe and are you also unaware that whoever makes up the majority influences everything from music to food to fashion.  the music industry in america and europe is controlled by whites despite the fact that blacks make up majority of the artistes as a result the whites tend to control and dictate music trends.

all the white owned music labels like sony, emi  arista etc market and advertise their artistes music in order to attract white consumers since they are more in number and represent a larger slice of the consumer market.  as a result many black artistes are marketed and packaged in order to attract  white consumers .  when i say blacks sing about their experiences in a white dominated society im not referring to black people as the oppressors - im actually referring to them as the oppressed.

Even though Jamaica is a predominantly black country its economic power remains in the hands of whites with a mainly mixed race elite occupying prominent positions of power therefore to my mind blacks in the diaspora are under white domination and i think many blacks in europe, america and the carribean reflect this in the lyrics of their songs.
i am not looking down on anyone.

@mandingo thanks for posting that article by chika onyeani - i agree with the basic thrust of his argument, however i notice that he seems to have completely exonerated whites from any blame in most if not all of the arguments he raises.

yes the nigerian elite are morally and intellectually bankrupt, yes nigerians as a people lack the courage and the fighting spirit to take control over their own destiny, rather we prefer to live in a fantasy world where we delude ourselves that we are successful when in actual fact we are glorified slaves living under an alien system that does not recognise our humanity.

i remember reading about how the people of north vietnam fought and defeated first the french, then the chinese and finally the americans even though it meant loosing 3million of their own people in the process.  even vietnamese women were trained in guerilla warfare tactics and many were brutally despoil.d, tortured and murdered by american soldiers but the vietnamese fought on causing the americans to sustain casualties of over 50,000 until the american public could no longer stomach the sight of vast numbers of their soldiers being brought home in body bags.

we lack that sense of fierce nationalistic pride, our focus is material gain on an individual basis which is a self defeating and backward way of looking at life.

the other day i was discussing the situation in nigeria with a jamaican guy and he said to me "why cant nigerians in the west go back to their own country and fix it up instead of being content to live like second class citizens in the west, their country is rich dont they understand that they would be ten times better off if they sorted out their own country and ran it themselves" .

oil rich iran was in a similar dilemma when the US overthrew mossadegh a left wing revolutionary and replaced him with their puppet the Shah of Iran in 1953 - the Shah retained his murderous grip on power courtesy of the US and Britain.  this is where i agree with Onyeana about the moral and intellectual bankruptcy of the nigerian elite - mossadegh was from a wealthy aristocratic arab family, however he had a deep sense of nationalistic pride - putting the collective welfare of his people before self gain- we dont have that in nigeria.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Mosaddegh

anyway eventually iranian students rose up and overthrew the shah after 26 years of brutality -  one mahmoud ahmadinejad (who is now demonised by the western coporate media  as a mad man)  is said to have been one of the students who stormed the US embassy in 1979 taking a number of US diplomats hostage along with other iranian students, however this account has been denied by the iranian govt.

http://www.spiegel.de/international/0,1518,363072,00.html

Onyeani makes a lot of very important points which need to be taken on board.

i have never been under any illusions that the only way we can regain our respect in this world is to take back our continent - no black person can ever be respected if he is living in a white dominated nation - the black race has been assigned a position of inferiority within western society - we can only break those chains if we take back our continent and rebuild our nations - the jews learnt this the hard way.

MandingoII:
I see.

So why are your Nigerians Brothers still Dying to live the White man's dream INSTEAD of a Nigerian Dream of a healthy country?
because the average nigerian is selfish greedy and has no sense of nationalistic pride

All I hear from Nigerians is negative about Nigeria and how they want to get out and then when they get out all they do is Brag about a life they are not living?

Sounds like some psychological sickness to me.

Black people here in the states don't like to take sh.t from whitefolks anymore.  We come together and get shi.t done.

We are NOT a passive lot.
i agree that african americans have a lot to be proud of in terms of how courageously they fought to try and overturn the white supremacist power structure, however COINTELPRO crushed all meaningful forms of dissent posed by the  african american community in the 1960's and 70s, i have researched extensively the activities of J Edgar Hoover the former head of the FBI  who was responsible for neutralising the black panther movement and other black militant groups.

in my view many black leaders who were seen as a threat to the white power structure were either murdered or incarcerated -

H Rap Brown - a very eloquent and articulate individual who is now serving life on trumped up charges of murder

mumia abu jamal - outstanding social critic and campaigner  - formerly placed on death row on what many suspect were trumped up charges, but now serving life

Malcolm X - assassinated by the FBI

Martin Luther King - assassinated by the FBI

Stokely Carmichael - fled to africa to avoid being killed by the FBI  - died in exile in africa

Huey Newton - murdered by FBI informant

Geronimo Pratt - Black panther member - jailed for 27 years on trumped up charges

the list goes on.

ever since the most militant african americans were "neutralised" they have been replaced with what i like to refer to as establishment approved black leaders - they are funded and controlled by the white establishment and they pose no threat to the status quo.

also since the introduction of crack cocaine into black neighbourhoods during the reagan administrtion by the CIA more and more black men have been incarcerated, further removing any potential threats to the white supremacist structure.

these days i dont think there are any real black leaders in america that challenge the status quo of white domination and power - please dont say Obama - he is a new world order puppet and represents the interests of the white trillionaire plutocrats not black people in america.

Like I said before and I will say again.

It is the young educated masses in your country that will lead your country out of its chaos.  It was young Black College students that Brought AMerica to its knees with Civil Rights protest.  The older black people called them troublemakers for daring to want more NOW!

However, Nigeria's educated youths look down upon its people and will not lift a finger to help them.

Therefore, it will have to be the poor people of Nigeria to wake up and risk their lives for a better future.  I don't understand why poor people are not willing to risk their lives.

They already don't have sh.t.
true,  but im not naive enough to think it will be an easy task, remember that in trying to overthrow a repressive govt like the nigerian govt you must bear in mind that you will indirectly be fighting the US, Israel, Britain and any other foreign power with vested economic interests in our country.

the igbos in the east tried to secede in 1967 taking with them part of the oil rich region but we were brutally crushed and massacred by the hausa and yorubas who formed an alliance in order to take back control of the revenue generating oil wells.  3million igbos died of starvation following a deliberate blockade imposed on the region in order to force us into surrendering.  the hausa yoruba alliance was armed by britain and we were mercilessly crushed, therefore many of us are reluctant for a repeat of that, however i do think that if the entire country unites and puts aside ethnic differences we might just be able to do it, but thats a big if.

the time is at hand though  because the anglo/american alliance's  plan is to recolonise the entire african continent by establishing military bases all over the continent - the final stages of this plan are already in place - thats what AFRICOM is all about.

im sick and tired of watching these fake talentless nigerian artistes with limited talent and zero originality aping and mimicing african american and jamaican musicians.  What happened to talent and originality.  I used to be proud to be a nigerian when people like Fela Kuti and Egypt 80 performed, King Sunny Ade, Onyeka Onwenu and Ayinde Barrister.

what happened to that golden era?
now every time i turn on my tv i see these pathetic talentless morons "singing" very badly with scantily clad women gyrating in the background - why are we going backwards?  African americans and jamaican music reflects their experiences in a white dominated environment  which does not accept nor recognise their humanity, this is where such genres as the blues and jazz came from why are nigerians who have never left nigeria aping and mimicing this sort of music.  Why cant we be proud of our unique culture and experience and stop copying - blacks in the west dont want to listen to africans trying to copy americans and jamaicans its of no interest to them.  What would attract interest would be a unique form of african music like Fela's afrobeat.

anyway thats my view

@mandingo we have had progressive people who have tried to steer the country in the right direction but many have never been allowed to get anywhere near the corridors of power, the link below gives you some background info about murtala muhammed who is probably the only progressive leader we have had since independence - he was assasinated by the CIA in 1976 because of his anti apartheid stance and his pan africanist views  - he was replaced with a puppet by the name of Obasanjo who is still involved in nigerian politics to date albeit from behind the scenes, Obasanjo and some other traitors have hijacked our economy and they are running the country into the ground under instructions from washington and london.

Here are some excerpts from that "interview" that demonstrate that this woman is not to be trusted:

I did not say he should brief because it’s the Minister of Information that should brief, because I had earlier made up my mind that I will not brief on our President’s health anymore.
it appears at this point she suspected that something was up - but due to greed and self interest she carried on

He came and did the briefing and I was stunned when he was talking. He convinced everybody that the President was capable and I was getting worried. I was getting worried so much that I asked myself that if he were capable, why could he not speak to Nigerians through our own channels. Why could he not speak to Nigeria through our NTA. Why speak to BBC. After that briefing, I really felt very miserable. I got really very depressed and I asked myself: now that Chief Andoakaa has briefed, what do I say about the President’s health next Wednesday?
i think her misery was more to do with the fact that she was being left out of the loop and she was now worried about being seen as a liability by the inner circle  which would ultimately mean she could be given the boot.

That depression went so deep that I used to take Lexotan twice at night to sleep and I still could not sleep. I kept asking myself what I would say.
Yes because at this point she was wondering if she would have a job the next day

How can I say I don’t want to say anything about the President’s health? Would it not look as if I’m disloyal to the President? Would it not look unfair to the Federal Executive Council? So, I was caught in a very bad situation. Before even I traveled, because some Ministers said why didn’t I even consult them. I called three Ministers differently. I just called and said what do you feel about what is going on? Don’t you think that we need to tell the public the truth? How do we get the truth?
Isnt it weird how she asks her partners in crime "shouldnt we tell the public the truth"doesnt that imply that she does know the truth but hasnt got the courage to either resign on grounds of principle or confront the people who are hiding the truth from her.

The reaction I got from these three different Ministers, I will never forget. One of them said don’t you think he has a reason not to hand over to Dr Jonathan? I never said let him resign. I said it is better to find a way to encourage him to hand over to Dr Jonathan so that the system will be stabilized and our hard-earned democracy will not be truncated. But for each of the Ministers that I found a way of introducing it to, so that we could hold a discussion for us to mobilize more Ministers, I did not get a single support from one of the three. In fact, the reaction of one of them, as I said earlier is that he had a reason not to hand over. ‘You don’t even go there’. I said which reason.
can you see whats happening here - she has no problem with covering up the circumstances surrounding Yaradua's health - but because she doesnt want to loose her position of privilege she now shifts her focus to campaigning for Jonathan to take over - thereby ensuring that her job is secure and the loot continues to flow into her various bank accounts.

this woman is a joke!

@ cap28
obviously, you are not in nigeria presently.

if u are, u wont say "Surely a person of good moral standing would question why she has not been allowed to physically see this man despite being a whole minister of information. A more principled individual would have demanded an audience with the President before hastily campaigning for power to be transferred to a successor."
what has  my not being in nigeria presently got to do with anything?

and why do you take issue with the above statement, do you expect so little from your leaders that you see nothing wrong with a minister of information openly admitting that she has not set eyes on her own boss since his arrival in the country despite an absence of over 3 months.  does that sound like someone whose word should be taken seriously.

surely she should be more interested in getting to the bottom of the whereabouts of her boss rather than launching a tirade against a so called cabal who she claims is intent on derailing the transition process.

what i want to know is why hasnt anyone set eyes on this man since his supposed arrival in this country last week?

why is she unconcerned as to whether he is dead or alive  and more interested in seeing through this transition of power to Jonathan?

pray tell, who has had audience with the president,
that is the BIG QUESTIONhuh
ooh so because noone has had an audience with him that means we should carry on with business as usual - dont you think it would make more sense to find out WHY no one is being allowed to see him?

there are theories and there are realisties,
you certainly DO NOT RESIDE IN NIGERIA, else you would have known what is truely going on.
thats a joke - you dont know anymore about whats going on than i do.  You are being fed lies and misinformation just like everyone else in order to divert your attention away from the real issue which is - WHERE ON EARTH IS YARADUA AND WHAT IS HIS PHYSICAL CONDITION?

if not for her so called blabbing, we nigerians would have still been living in the dispensation of "the president said" question is to who and when did he say?
what dispensation are you living under now?
the real question you should be asking is why are they hiding the wherabouts of Yaradua, and why are they more preoccupied with the transfer of power to Jonathan.
Why is it that the first people that Jonathan met with upon assuming office was an american delegation headed by Jonnie Carson?

People were busy controlling the nation under the disguise of the president said.

For what ever reason, the woman risks her life, YES I SAY LIFE (if you know what power sharing in nigeria means and the implication of Jonathan taking over, you will understand why i say life) to cry foul and you sit in your comfort and say shut up u talk too much,
she is not risking anything - she's simply manipulating you into beleiving that she is and like sheep you have fallen for it  - this woman has for the past couple of years worked hand in hand with these looters, throughout this period she never challenged or called into question their criminal conduct, why? because she was benefitting from her position, she has a nice cushy job, where in her own words she earns TEN times her previous salary as NAFDAC boss - in other words her silence has been bought, therefore for people like you to think that a woman who is benefitting from keeping her mouth shut to the detriment of the well being of her people will suddenly develop a conscience and put her own interests to one side is at best delusional and at worst tragic.

no self respecting individual with an iota of integrity would have anything to do these with these theives if they suspected foul play.

Rem, it was carrie din the news that the presidnet had communication wiht people including the senate president, but after her memo, the senate president was asked to confirm that the president had communicated with him and his reply was, did you watch that life broadcast, ??
this is where she should have given an ultimatum to the rest of her cabinet asking for proof instead of allowing herself to be fobbed off with a vague response.

oh! i forgot, you are not in Nigeria, so youa re saying what should be based on theories.
no,  i say what i say based on common sense and logical reasoning.

I conclude by saying, she could be whatever she has been good/bad (or still be whatever), but this her very blabbing has saved Nigeria and Nigerians, (if for nothing, from andoaka, ).
You are deceiving yourself if you think Jonathan and his crew are  an improvement on Andoaka and co  - was Jonathan not part of Yaradua's crew when he was Vice President, do you think that the looting and banditry will end simply because the reins of power has changed hands?

if she did not blab, will the FEC have agreed to haivng the Acting president sworn in?
2. if they did not swear him in, what would have been the state of the nation now,
swearing in of the chief justice and permanent secretary by,
awarding major contracts by saying the president said,
maybe 2011 election conducted and the president will contest again by proxy,
the list goes on,
there is nothing wrong with demanding answers but they shouldnt be selective - if she's saying that the country is in danger of descending into chaos because of Yaradua's prolonged absence shouldnt she also be demanding to know where he is and what his current physical condition is rather than focusing solely on the transfer of power?

Nigerians in America are largely passive people that live for material gain (my perspective). Because of the current economy - they hurting like hell. AND they need to STOP comparing themselves to Blacks. It would be like me moving to Nigeria getting a high ranking job with that bleeped up corrupt so-called Governmental system you people have there and LOOK DOWN ON 98% of the populace.

Then again, Nigerians wants to be the new House Nigga.

Anything to get out of that hell hole called Africa.
Mandingo i hear what you say and there is a lot of truth in what you say even though your points are put across with in a very vitriolic manner , however i will not deny the truth when i see it, i grew up in the UK and Nigeria and i have the advantage of seeing the world from two different angles, i find it frustrating when i debate issues with my people on this board, nigerians do not see progress from a collective perspective we are only interested in individual advancement and this is what will keep us from getting anywhere,  i have stated time and time again that success is not measured on an individual basis but on a collective basis, the reason the british are respected all over the world is not because one or two of them happened to become doctors or lawyers but because of what they acheived as a nation, and because of this wherever they go in the world they are accorded respect, with nigerians it is a diffferent story every where we go in the world we have to prove ourselves as individuals before we are accorded an iota of respect or recognition this is because we have not acheived anything collectively as a nation.  therefore to revel in the idea that you are something special because you are a harvard or yale graduate is meaningless if you are still having to fight to be accorded the respect that nationals of countries like japan, china, britain are granted automatically.

you have to laugh at people like the poster on here who was bragging about how great his family is doing because they went to ivy league universites etc etc, i for one would not send any of my children to an ivy league college because these places alienate black people from their true identity , many blacks who attend these institutions come out suffering from severe identity crisis as they have acquired a eurocentric outlook on life which is it at odds with their african identity, they start to harbour deep feelings of self hatred and this tends to manifest itself in a number of ways- they refuse to associate with their own people and regard with contempt everything that reminds them of who they are.

many cut off ties to their own families because they are now ashamed of their blackness, remember that these elite institutions are really finishing schools which teach manners, deportment and communication skills from a eurocentric perspective, therefore in order to succeed in such an environment you must cast off any aspect of your previous identity particularly if it is black.

the problem with blacks who go through this system is that they are in a catch 22 situation because unlike their white counterparts sooner or later they get a wake up call that reminds them that despite their fancy manners, education and way of speaking they are still regarded as N*******to the white man and therefore second class citizens (remember harvard professor henry gates) it is at this stage that despair sets in as these people realise that they now have to live in a twilight zone as they cant identify with their black peers neither can they fully integrate into the white world because of how they look.

http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2009/07/harvard.html

these type of black people chose to look at the world through a "white lens" ie the way white people see the world because it suits them -  they are usually used by whites in order to prove that racism does not exist - a few names come to mind- condoleeza rice, colin powell, juan williams (of fox news) susan rice,

ive just read through this "interview" again and my gut feeling is that this woman is a complete and utter liar.

first of all the fact that this woman is a spokesperson for this bunch of criminals speaks volumes, she glibly glosses over the hardships many nigerians are suffering and chooses instead to bleat vacuously about "rebranding" is the rebranding of nigeria's image more important than creating jobs for the vast majority of unemployed people in the country, how about the wholesale corruption and looting which continued unabated under her bosses tenure - i notice she doesnt talk about any of that, instead she has the temerity to brag about her huge salary being 10 times what it was when she was in charge of NAFDAC - really, but how does that help millions of nigerians that are living below the poverty line.

this woman is shameless - why is she making out that she is some sort of martyr simply because she wrote a memo demanding the transition of power from Yaradua to Jonathan - my theory on this is that she was instructed to do this by this same Obasanjo who she claims does not control her.  This sob story about her conscience pushing her to do "the right thing" is garbage.  What is right about agitating for the transition of power to Jonathan when you have not physically set eyes on his predecessor?  Surely a person of good moral standing would question why she has not been allowed to physically see this man despite being a whole minister of information.  A more principled individual would have demanded an audience with the President before hastily campaigning for power to be transferred to a successor.

there is nothing honourable about this woman -  at first i thought that she was deliberately being kept in the dark but i can see that she is being used by someone higher up to appeal to the emotions of ordinary  nigerians, i think theyve realised she is an asset because of her unprofessional manner and sanctimonious attitude - the powers that be are using her to mislead us with bogus conspiracy theories about dark forces around Yaradua - this is a smokescreen, we are yet to hear the truth.
Politics › Re: Dora Akunyili Tells All! by cap28: 4:41pm On Mar 02, 2010
this woman does not sound like an information minister more like a market trader recounting gossip to a group of friends in the market place  - so unprofessional.

im in two minds as to whether or not she's telling the truth - i suspect that she may have been deliberately left out of the loop because someone higher up doesnt trust her hence her incoherent babbling and finger pointing at some of her colleagues - it seems to me as if there are a number of factions within the existing power structure and i dont think that she is a member of the inner circle.

another possible scenario could be that she has been instructed by someone higher up to lead nigerians on a wild goose chase feeding us with more lies and misinformation.

im very tempted to beleive the second scenario - she seems almost desperate to convince us that we should go along with the handover of power to Jonathan, she is also quite casual about the fact that she hasnt physically set eyes on Yaradua despite his prolonged absence- its almost as if she thinks its normal to swear in his successor without knowing for sure what Yaradua's present condition is.

its either this woman is a complete fool or a manipulative liar - im still undecided as to which category to place her in.
Politics › Re: US Requests Information On Yar’adua’s Health by cap28: 12:33pm On Mar 02, 2010
there is something many people on here have failed to grasp which is that nigeria IS NOT A SOVEREIGN NATION - it is a client state of the United States this is why Obama has the temerity to DEMAND an update on Yaradua's supposed medical condition.  This notion that somehow nigeria has the power to challenge the US or Britain is laughable.

lets look into the background of nigeria's past and present leaders and find out how they got into office, lets find out who funded and armed them, who provided  them with military intelligence, who financed and assisted in the numerous coup d'etats that got rid of leaders who were not prepared to toe the american line of structural adjustment policies, IMF and world bank loans, currency devaluations, privatisation of state owned nigerians industries why cant you guys open your eyes and see what is staring you in the face.

Obasanjo and IBB have been fraternising with the americans since the 70's - it is now on record that Obasanjo is a close friend and confidante of some of the most reactionary elements in the US political establishment -he is their stooge and representative in nigeria -

here is an excerpt from an article detailing his close links with america and his rise to power:

The 13 February 1976 assassination of Murtala Muhammad, which brought Olusegan Obasanjo to power the first time, was widely believed at the time to be the linked to the CIA. Perhaps the same might be said for the 27 February 1999 "coup" as well.

Obasanjo is more than just a "friend" of the Americans. He is an operative. And his involvement with America's foreign policy elite is a long, sometimes complicated, but delightfully interesting story.

IBB is his close friend (also implicated in the overthrow of Murtala Muhammed in 1976) - this is a man(IBB) who was responsible for the economic destruction of the nigerian economy in the 80s- he introduced all the american approved economic measures which destroyed our economy (SAP) dont you think its more than a coincidence that the current US assistant secretary of state for african affairs - johnnie carson met with IBB a couple of days ago to discuss plans for IBB to run in the 2011 elections?  cant you guys see that nigeria has been sold lock stock and barrell to the americans.

this current situation with Yaradua to me is simply a smokescreen to cover up the truth -the americans know exactly what has been going on with Yaradua - lest we forget Saudi Arabia is another client state of america, the saudi royal family operate a system of govt which is similar to the nigerian govt - corrupt, murderous and repressive - in exchange for opening up their country to american exploitation the americans have  continued to support and fund their murderous regime - just like nigeria -  so i would be very sceptical about anything that comes out of that country.

I think the Saudis, the americans and members of the nigerian elite know exactly what is going on but the problem is who is going to tell the nigerian public the truth?

MandingoII:
MONEY & GLOBAL DOMINATION

but you know that already didn't you. wink

I was just born here under this oppressive system that your people are dying to get to. Trust and believe me. I hate these white mother/f/u/c/k/e/r/s.

They tell you that we are all on crack and in jail and they tell Americans that all africans have diseases, starving, and selling their children for a biscuit.

White people are THE most villianeous people to walk this earth.

Most Black American knows this. Most Africans do not.
@mandingo i completely agree with you  - the US in collaboration with Britain (aka the anglo american alliance ) are determined to retain their grip on global domination and in order to ensure that the status quo remains they  have completely brainwashed africans and african americans using the age old tactic of divide and rule - i am nigerian and i know this, not all of us beleive the lies that the vast american media force feeds the public.

However you admit that you have been lied to about africans and yet you throw the same lies and abuse that your white oppressors have fed you back into our faces.

are you aware that HIV aids is an artificially manufactured disease (bio warfare weapon) created in  laboratories under the auspices of the Pentagon with funding from the US govt for the purpose of reducing populations of groups considered to be "undesirable elements" within the US.

Are you aware that the  HIV aids virus was first tested on homosexual men in new york in the late 70's and blacks in various urban cities around the US   - the first aids epidemics in the US were in  the gay and black communities  - many gay men contracted the disease after taking hepatitis vaccinations which had been deliberately contaminated with this virus by rogue govt officials .  these two groups - gays and blacks were widely regarded in the US at that time as expendable the prevailing thinking was that they would not be missed if the govt could find some way to get rid of them or use them as unwitting guinea pigs - this is the reason why the largest casualties from this disease came from these two groups.  It was much later that your govt upon seeing the effects of the disease decided to move on to the next phase of their plan which was to use it to decimate the population of various african countries - this was done by way of polio vaccines which were again contaminated with the virus and in collaboration with the world health organisation (WHO) carried out vaccination programmes in various african countries with these contaminated vaccines causing the epidemic which we now have in africa today.  certain african countries were targeted for this disease - notice how south africa shortly after getting rid of aparthied in the early 90's  suffered and continues to suffer the highest  HIV aids epidemic in africa - do you think thats a coincidence?

i know that your western propaganda claims that aids originated from african monkeys who somehow were able to transfer this virus to humans in africa - how about white gay men far away in manhattan new york,  how did they contract the disease?  and if these monkeys were the supposed carriers of this disease why was this disease only transferred to humans as recently as the 1980's - do you know of anyone who died from this disease before the 1980s?

i know this may sound completely crazy to you but dont take my world for it - research the topic - a good place to start is a declassified US document written by your former National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger in 1974 its called NSSM 200 and it details america's plans for the depopulation of various developing countries around the world - nigeria was on that list.

i think its completely pointless for blacks to continue to attack each other because the bottom line is we are both victims of the white superemacist power structure.  they are using us to further their objectives - a divided people are an easily controllable people they know this - this is why they feed you with lies about us and feed us with lies about you.

whites discriminate against africans just as easily as they do against african americans or carribean people - they couldnt care less what country you are from as long as you are black you are an outsider.

Many of my people have been lulled into a false sense of security by what they think they have here in the west ie a nice comfortable middle class lifestyle, forgetting that all these opportunities that they now enjoy are possible because of the courage of great african americans like Malcolm X, Martin Luther King and many others who lost their lives challenging a vicious racist system.

another thing that my people fail to understand is that no condition is permanent just because you are safe today in the west does not mean that it will  always be that way -  this is the same way the jews of europe became complacent until they received the terrible wake up call that was hitler's nazi germany.  when the nazis started their campaign of persecution many of these european countries that the jews  had lived in for centuries collaborated with the nazis and had the jews deported to death camps.  Many of us are sleepwalking through life and we cant see the bigger picture.

marcus garvey the jamaican revolutionary forsaw all of what is happening today and this is why he urged african americans to look to africa as the answer ie gradual relocation, investment etc but he was persecuted, hounded out of the country and died a virtual pauper in exile in london.

one poster here mentioned something about how "intelligent and well educated" nigerians are - my answer to that is if we are so well educated and intelligent why havent we risen up as a people to throw off these tyrants who have hijacked our country in collaboration with the west.  There is no point bragging about intelligence when you have no country to call your own.

In many ways i can understand african americans anger towards nigerians because at least they took their destiny into  their own hands and fought a system which denied them their humanity, however i think we need to look at ways to work together or the whites will acheive their aim which is complete and utter destruction of our race - they have succeeded in destroying us psychologically all that is left now is the physical destruction of our race which is currently a work in progress.
