Milan has never been know as an attacking team, infact they with Juventus served up the borest champions league final in history in 2003 at Old trafford. Not all madrids triumphs from 1998 to 2002 was all attacking, infact within that period of 18 years in which you mention. Man united twice, FC porto, Liverpool, Chelsea, intermilan and arguably milan has won the competition more by defensive solidity rather than gong ho attack.

If you remove their match against group whipping boys D.kiev. United scored just 12 goals in 11 games, thats1.09 goals per game this doesnt sound attacking to me, its still boils down to what Toyindipo said that the team with the overall better quality wins not just attacking teams.

Bayern and Barca are not more successful in Cl than Liverpool, All 4 CL wins by Liverpool prior to 2005 was done with a total defensive set up. Their last triumph (2005) was done by Benitez who is not known for champagne football.

exactly my thoughts,tho I'm not really a fan of the defensive approach of mou,buy looking at d bigger picture in the cl,this our defense might just save us..when we scored against spurs,I was with a Chelsea fan who was trying to ease me that there's no way we would concede..mou has drilled those defenders well,and we also have degea btw d sticks...just for our attack to b more cohesive and efficient..its just really painful that any slight drop of form,d way most here call for his head is sad..

You nailed it. I dont like defensive game at all!!!!. But imagine if we manage to get a 1-1 away draw at Barca in the semi-finals of the UCL. Mourinho can comfortably get a home 0-0 to advance. A mourihno team can never take a 5-3 lead to Monaco and crash out at the end.
