Politics › Re: Buhari Would Rather Lose Than Rig 2019 Elections -femi Adesina by capitalzero: 8:31am On Nov 21, 2018 |
nimisola: Femi Adesina says President Muhammadu Buhari would rather lose the 2019 presidential election than rig it.
The presidential spokesman said this while speaking during a programme on ARISE TV on Tuesday.
Commenting on concerns raised ahead of the 2019 elections, Adesina said the process will be free and fair.
“I’m surprised that this president has been with you for three and half years and yet you do not seem to know him,” he said.
“If anybody would rig election or anything, it will not be President Muhammadu Buhari. He would rather even prefer to lose fair and square.
“He has even said it before that if the only thing he would leave as a legacy for Nigeria is free and fair election, he would do it. Forget that the election would be rigged, that will not happen.”
Reacting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) statement that Buhari’s ‘Next Level’ document “failed to articulate any solutions,” Adesina said: “PDP is down and will remain there for a very long time so I’d rather not talk about them.
“The Next Level is about deepening what is happening in the country. It’s about consolidating on what has been done and what is been done; its about making progress and advancing on what we are doing now. That is the sum total of it.
“A lot of Nigerians believe in what this administration is doing, they have faith, they have confidence, they have hope that the administration will take Nigerians to the place it deserves to be.
“The work in progress will continue and if you look at the documents that were released, you’ll see additional focal areas.
“So in the next dispensation and by the goodwill of Nigerians who will re-elect the current administration, these three focal areas (security, economy and infrastructure) will continue to receive attention and there will be additional ones as you’ve seen in the documents.”
Commenting on the indictment of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) over the N5.8 billion fund released for internally displaced persons (IDPs), Adesina said, “it is more of a political thing rather than something grounded in facts and truth”.

Politics › Re: “Jonathan Had No Shoes, You Sold Firewood’ – Nigerians React To Atiku Plan by capitalzero: 12:10pm On Nov 20, 2018 |
Dkmngr: Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has caused reactions from Nigerians on social media over his campaign policy document ‘The Atiku Plan.’
https://i0.wp.com/dkmngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/atiku.png?w=610&ssl=1
On Monday, Atiku revealed his plan for Nigerians in 2019and narrated a story of how he started selling firewood as an orphan in Adamawa before he got rich.
He quoted his statement by saying: “I started out as an orphan selling firewood on the streets of Jada in Adamawa, but God, through the Nigerian state, invested in me and here I am today. If Nigeria worked for me, I owe it as my duty to make sure that Nigeria also works for you.”
But, his above statement received backslash from some Nigerians on social media as they compared his story to that of former President Goodluck Jonathan who said he had no shoes while campaigning.
Some Nigerians advised the Atiku to desist from such stories as Nigerians would not fall for such sympathetic stories in voting for the next president.
Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST from Twitter:
@Ugochijanetrump: “Goodluck told us in 2011 he was not born rich and that he had no shoes and school bags. By 2015, GEJ had bought many bags to pack our money. In 2017, Peter Obi said he own only one wristwatch & he doesn’t own any house outside Nigeria. Now, today is for Atiku as firewood seller.”
@Chijev “It’s actually not a good line to start. Nigerians no longer trust those gimmicks. I’ll recommend concentrating on issue based agenda and not some not-so- convincing poverty root.”
@diran_mendy106 “BURSTED!!! The last president that was shoeless and sell fish, nosedived the economy into recession,we don’t need firewood seller to plunge us into depression.Nigerians are now wise.”
@Abuusamayusuf “This is the kind of story Jonathan told us in is quest to be our president.I don’t know think this kind of sympathetic stories can sell any more.”
@Vexless “Whether as an orphan or you had no shoes, its not news. MKO had to sell firewood to pay his sch fee & that of your former boss. The news now is that @MBuhari constructed that same Jada road which you abandoned for 8yrs. Well, Obj also neglected Otta road that leads to his abode.”
@Joevankas “Last time we heard from Jonathan that was shoeless now it’s Atiku claiming to have started out as an orphan. Nigerians won’t fall for these lies ever again.”
@tbrtroopers “President Atiku Thank you for including all of us in your visions for Nigeria. You have led by example and proven to be resolute and resourceful in you previous endeavors, the same goes to you VP @PeterGregoryObi . I can’t envisage anything but success. Thank you once again.”
@Emperoraustus “His Excellency Atiku …. we once had an aspirant who later became the president. According to him, he doesn’t even have any shoe and he was from a poor family like you. We hope we will not end up experience the same regime if you win? Just asking.”
@Essuharison “Politicians and poverty stories.Playing with our emotions. Let’s talk more about deliverable not all these stories you’re concocting.”
@Musamonsur “This is similar to the story told by GEJ when he said he had no shoe, that made people to be sympathetic with him and voted for him.but Nigerians are wiser now.”
@Sulebaba_Sadeeq “Atiku started by Selling Firewood, Graduated to Selling NITEL, Nigeria Airways etc. Now He wants to Sell NNPC and Nigeria. We say No!

Southeast have been left out of the equation
Why ?
1) political miscalculation
(2) political confusion
(3) political blindness
(4) political blunder
With the return of democracy in 1999,
There was a gentleman agreement with the stakeholders also adopted by political parties and regional leaders
In this regards Obasanjo used the tenure of the south from 1999 to 2003
The power returned to the north Yar’adua (2007 to 2009 it was cut short with the sudden death of President Yar’adua
Power returned to the south again in 2009 President Gej From 2009 to 2015
In 2015 President Muhammadu Buhari Was elected with the present political permutations Buhari tenure ends by 2023 God willing
There is still time to remedy this if not
I see Osinbajo and El-Rufai In 2023 when power return south If a youth reasons like this, this country is doomed. |

Eziokwu1: The Central Intelligence Agency- CIA, The much quoted American intelligence unit website has made a revision on their website's Nigerian section under People and Society, Ethnic groups as well as Religion.: Updated November 09 , 2018.
According to them, this is the reflection of Nigeria's ethnic statistics: Hausa 27.4% Igbo (Ibo) 14.1% Yoruba 13.9% Fulani 6.3% Tiv 2.2% Ibibio 2.2% Ijaw/Izon 2% Kanuri/Beriberi 1.7% Igala 1% Others 28.9% Unspecified 0.2%
It then goes on to say Muslims are 51.6% of the country, Christians are 46.9 (of which Roman Catholics are 11.2%), Traditionalists are 0.9%, while unspecified are 0.5% https://www.cia.gov/llibrary/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/ni.html
But knowing that this same CIA is the same agency responsible for the much peddled Hausa-Fulani 29%, Yoruba 21%, Igbo 18% Ijaw 10%, Kanuri 4%, Ibibio-Efik 3.5% Figure that was brandished around for a very long time, is it safe to say these new figures are also unrealistic and suspect? Also the way they seem to be able to arrive at such precise percentages, plus their inclusion of an "unspecified" category seem to suggest that they did some sort of survey? (If they did, then when, where and how did it happen)
Take for example, How Igalas be 1% but Urhobos don't rank? Hausas and Fulanis together are now 33.7% from 29% Igbos are now 14.1% from 18% Yorubas came as the biggest shock crashing down to 13.9% from a previous 21% More than 7% decrease. Ijaws also went frm 10% to 2% (This one i am not surprised, because trust me, everyone knew Ijaws were not 10% of Nigeria)
The consequence of this is that Hausas alone are now the same population as Igbos and Yorubas combined, without even factoring in the fulanis YET.
What actually happened? Are the new stats more believable than the old one from the same Agency, or are both figures old and new total crap, which would only suggest that this so called agency are just amateurs sitting in some armchair in faraway Washington D.C making wild unresearched guesses? Hmmn. It is due to high birth rate among hausa/fulani ethic group. if nigeria is not restructured in the next 20 years, hausa/fulani will be 50% and Muslim population will be 60-70% and nigeria will be official Islamic republic and hausa/fulani-diminated nation. Education › Re: Hijab Controversy: UI School Board Retains Dress Code by capitalzero: 7:10am On Nov 15, 2018 |
ugo4u: University of Ibadan
Ademola Babalola, Ibadan
The Board of Governors of the International School, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, has decided that the dress code of the school will be maintained.
The board, which came out with this after a meeting presided over by Prof. Adeyinka Aderinto, on Wednesday, stated that the management had the right to enforce the dress code that was contained in the rules and regulations of the school.
The board urged parents to abide by the rules of the school to enable the institution to fulfil its mandate of providing sound education for the pupils. The old student’s association of the school also said that the controversy over the wearing of hijab should be viewed through the lens of principles and laws governing the institution and not through the lens of religion.
A mail sent to Aderinto by the President of the University of Ibadan International School Old Students Association, Tive Ekpere, stated that the uniform policy was introduced to address socioeconomic inequalities, discourage segregation and minimise distractions to academic activities.
Ekpere noted that the uniform was unique and was the fabric that had bound the ISI culture and tradition till date, adding that the existing policy on the school uniform should be reviewed and interpreted accordingly.
According to him, agitators for hijab must note that the ISI is a private school being governed by its own policies, laws and regulations.
He stated, “The International School Ibadan is a secular international school established to admit and provide the best possible education for boys and girls from all over the world, irrespective of their ethnicity, creed, race or religion. It is a centre where children are brought to learn from one another with the aim of finding their common humanity.
“The uniform policy was introduced to disabuse socio-economic inequalities, discourage segregation and minimise distractions to academic activities. The uniform is unique and is the fabric that has bound cultures and traditions till date. Beyond this, the association wishes to advise that all overt religious activities on the school campus should be discouraged henceforth.
Ekpere added, “While we believe that every student should be free to practise whatever religion they wish, we are also persuaded that the exercise of such rights must be carried out within the bounds of civility. Within these bounds of civility, what cannot be condoned are actions being taken by a select few that could potentially jeopardise the comfort and safety of all ISI students and teachers.
“The ISI, as we believe, has one mandate and that is to deliver quality education to every single student in the school, and nothing more.”
However, the Muslim Community of Oyo State on Wednesday said there was no going back on the quest to implement the use of hijab by willing Muslim female students in the ISI.
The Muslim Parents’ Forum, which was dissatisfied with the resolutions of the board of governors to halt the wearing of hijab by students of the school at an emergency meeting on Tuesday, vowed to ensure that female Muslim students to wear hijab.
Members of the forum asked the Federal Government and the National Assembly not to waste time by intervening in the crisis before it escalates.
They made their position known at a joint press conference organised by the forum in conjunction with the state Muslim community.
The Secretary General, Muslim Community of Oyo State, Sheik Ismail Busari, stressed the need for the Federal Government, the National Assembly, the state government and the management of the University of Ibadan to intervene in the matter to avoid an escalation of the crisis. https://punchng.com/hijab-controversy-ui-school-board-retains-dress-code/ and some Christians in South west feel that there is religious tolerance. There is serious but subtle religious war going on in South west. Most decisions in communities, associations, schools etc are made based on religious factors. |

NAIJAHITPLAY: The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the three persons, including Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, who stood sureties for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to within two months, pay the sum of N100m each into the court’s account for their inability to produce the missing Biafran activist in court.
Justice Binta Nyako gave the order on Wednesday in a ruling in which she amended the conditions of the bail she had in April 2017 granted Kanu.
Kanu is being prosecuted before the court on charges of treasonable felony. His trial had been earlier separated from that of his co-accused following his disappearance after a military invasion of his home in Afara-Ukwu, Umuahia, in Abia State, on September 14, 2017 The three sureties who guaranteed his bail had been made to sign a bail bond of N100m each which was backed by their landed assets whose documents were deposited in court. But with the amendment ordered by the court on Wednesday, they are now required to deposit cash of N100m in the bank account of the court. Justice Nyako ruled that the three sureties had two months to pay the sum of N100m each into the court’s account. The judge reiterated that the order directing the sureties to pay the money was an order of interim forfeiture. She fixed March 28 for the hearing of the motions filed by the sureties to challenging the duties imposed on them to produce the IPOB leader. Pay our 24-month salary arrears, LAUTECH doctors beg Oyo govt Published November 12, 2018. The Association of Resident Doctors at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, has called on the Oyo State Government to ensure speedy payment of the 24 months salary arrears owed members.
The association made the call in a statement jointly signed by Dr Ayobami Alabi and Dr Taiwo Alatise, its President and General Secretary respectively.
The statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Monday said the salary arrears spanned between January 2016 and December 2017.
“The non-payment of the outstanding salary arrears is exposing our members to untoward hardship and embarrassment in different facets of life.
“It is important government pays the arrears in earnest. It should be noted there is a limit to which people can continue to work in the face of suffering,” it said.
The statement said that their members had in spite of the challenges demonstrated, understanding and unequal dedication toward the state government.
“It is painful and disheartening that despite resuming back to work and rendering uninterrupted services for almost a year, the outstanding salary arrears of 24 months are still being owed,” it said.
“The level of understanding and maturity being displayed by resident doctors should not be taken for granted.
“ The harmony and peace currently enjoyed in the hospital should be protected at all cost,’’ it added.
“Government should improve on its commitment to the institution in other areas such as infrastructure, staff and residency training.
“We hope with the cooperation the government has shown in recent times, she will hearken our call and respond favourably. |

kenechukwufrank: HOW CHILDREN OF THE DEAD SHARE PROCEED MADE FROM FUNERAL CEREMONIES IN IGBOLAND
By Anayo M. Nwosu
It is no longer a hidden fact that Igbos particularly those from Anambra do not conduct funerals to make loss. The ceremonies are conducted in such a way that a painful or funeral profit is made. The worst expectation is a breakeven.
Recall that in many cases, loans are taken with lands pledged as collateral and most often, property are sold to fund the funeral.
Wouldn’t it be stupid for one to make a loss or lose the collateral by making a loss?
You now understand why no sympathizer is entertained in Anambra funerals until he or she presents the monetary equivalent his/her sympathy to the bereaved. No one would drop N100 and expect to be given food or beer.
Revenues from funeral activities or ceremonies of grown adults or parents in Igboland consist of cash gifts, assorted drinks, cows, goats, chicken, food items and wrappers gifted to the bereaved family by various sympathizers which consist of remote and distant relatives, friends and well wishers.
Days after the funeral, most of the material gifts would have to be sold and converted to cash except for some of the clothes or wrappers which are distributed to the daughters and wives in the family and those reserved for further use. The first son or his nominee keeps them.
All the children of the deceased, especially the sons, expect an account reconciliation meeting as may be convened by the first son few days after the conclusion of the funeral ceremonies. At this meeting, the expenditures are deducted from the revenues and whatever is left is the funeral profit which is to be shared.
It is easier in a monogamous family where there are say, two or more sons or if the funeral is for a mother.
In the case of a two-son family, the first son shall divide the proceeds into three equal parts. He will take two portions and give the younger brother a portion. This is a ratio of 2:1.
If the brothers are three in number, the sharing formula is 2:1:1, that is, two portions to the first son and one each for the rest.
It is noteworthy that the first son is, no matter the number of his brothers, entitled to two portions while others will receive one portion each. It is never shared equally. The extra portion is to maintain his obi or firstsonship.
In a polygamous setting or when the funeral was that of a father with many wives, the first surviving son takes a double portion while the each of the first sons from each wife would take one portion. The first sons from respective wives of the deceased would then share their portions with their brothers in the ratio that guarantees the first son a double ration.
A share of funeral profit is in contrast with what happens at the fundraising meeting prior to the funeral, which is not necessary if the first son can foot the entire bill.
When the first son cannot raise the needed amount, other brothers including the married sisters are encouraged to contribute money to fund the funeral ceremonies and one of the siblings is appointed as an ad hoc treasurer.
During the funeral, a tray pan is placed on a table in front of the canopy where the male children and their clansmen sit to welcome sympathizers.
Each condolence visitor or sympathizer is expected to monetize or commoditize the equivalence of his or her sympathy. People, who cry loudest are not appreciated at this point. Cash or cheques are dropped into the tray while other commodities like clothes, drinks, yams, goat, chicken or cow are presented to the bereaved in the full glare of all. A clansman with an eagle eye armed with a note book and pen is positioned in the second row, behind the sons of the bereaved, to record who brought what.
There are always a big fight or long tenured enmity among brothers after their father's or mother's funerals due to the way the funeral profit is handled by the first son.
A greedy first son would wait until after the funeral to pick quarrels or even refuse to call for an account reconciliation or profit sharing meeting. He would become so busy and irritable until his brothers get annoyed and leave him alone to enjoy his greed. Sometimes, physical combats ensue.
That's why younger brothers in many families in Igbo land conduct their own funeral receptions in separate venues or in their own respective houses to collect their own condolence proceeds because of the fear that whatever is put in the central purse would be seized by a greedy eldest brother. When the first son is known to be greedy based on his antecedents or when some well-to-do younger brothers, usually in polygamous homes want to recover all they had given to friends in the past and wouldn’t want to share, they make arrangements for their very important guests to be received and entertained in their houses or in separate venues immediately the corpse is lowered into the grave.
In a case where brothers fear inequitable sharing or greed, everybody would be made to contribute money for common things like casket, ambulance, entertainment of statutory condolence visitors like in-laws, their married sisters and common relatives.
Smart younger brothers saddled expectation to bring the bulk of the money to finance the funeral are better off telling the elder brothers that their contributions are loans which must be refunded before the profit is shared. They should demand to keep the daily condolence collections while the first son appoints the record keeper. The option of dubbing funeral contribution as a loan is hardly refused by the elder brothers because if the funeral expenses are not refunded, the person who footed the bill of the funeral of his father automatically becomes the head of the family or obi. So, the first son would be quick to refund the loan but what happens thereafter depends on his greed level.
When next you attend a funeral ceremony in Igbo land and you see numerous reception venues with each of the sons or group of sons of the deceased sitting under a tree or canopy with a tray pan on top of the table in front of them, note that they are trying to protect their funeral revenues.
Come to think of that, how can a reclusive or an introverted brother earn where he didn’t sow?
So, an elder brother is very comfortable, who would not give to others during their own funerals would now position himself to corner the cows, goats and cash gifted by sympathizers in the name of his younger ones who are more kindhearted, generous or better known? No way!
Thank God for the kind of elder brother I have. He is my only brother. In the upcoming funeral of Mama Obiora, our mum, on 23 November 2018, we shall do it with no division. What he doesn't approve won't be done. He can take all I have while I'm alive except Uche Ukwuoma Obiabaka. If he tries that Pope must hear it.
Sincerely speaking, Catechist Obiora, my elder brother, is a man of God, who is heaven minded. He will receive all the prayers and best wishes from sympathizers while I will inherit the earth and fullness thereof.
Igbos outside Anambra might dispute the above described Igbo practice which I admit differs from what is presently obtainable in their areas. However, it is not contestable that early Igbos first settled somewhere in today's Anambra State, and like a smelly fart, Igbo culture has started losing aroma as our people “diffused” away from the epicentre where the ahụrụ or fart was first released. Reptyle: It isn't a possibility, it is a FACT.
According to the letter, President Buhari wasn't required to submit any certificates at the time because it was not a prerequisite for admission.
Still doesn't negate the fact that this whole drama around the basic education credentials of a man like Buhari is an unnecessary distraction and a big waste of time. He has spent almost 4 years in office and we should be discussing his performance rather than stuff like his secondary school certificate. If he is deemed to have failed in office, it won't be because he has or does not have a secondary school certificate.
President Buhari will deservedly be on the ballot next year. I know but he did not write certificate. forget fake waec certificate. this is nigeria. With primary school certificate and work experience in public sector as a soldier, he qualify to contest. but just know that he does not possess waec certificate. stop defending lie. |

PassingShot: OP lacks comprehension ability.
The memo simply said "no credentials were required to be submitted" by then. It didn't say "Buhari didn't submit his credentials despite the need to do so".
Una no get brain aswear. So it is possible that he was admitted to the college without certificate. |
