Romance › Re: My Relationship Of 3 Years May End Because Of Wedding Date. by capitalzero: 8:02am On Dec 21, 2018 |
Dogalmighty17: I have dated this girl for three years. We fixed a date for the wedding for late this year. However, events seemingly out of my control necessitated that I shift the wedding to February next year. Initially, she was against the shift but I pleaded with her.
Sometime in August this year, we had a disagreement because I noticed she was being disrespectful towards me. She is hardworking, cooks well and is very business oriented. But her sense of independence makes her struggle with submission to her man. I told her how uncomfortable I was with it and she's promised to make amends. She has but from time to time, her old self comes out.
I was at a loss on what to do that I had to voice out the issue to her family. When they asked her, she told them that since I requested for a shift in wedding date, she became uncomfortable with the relationship. Her family then told her to call off the relationship. I got to know about this decision and I called her and she said she was going to obey the wishes of her family. Her mom also told me that since I keep complaining about her daughters lack of respect, I should leave her daughter alone. It took serious pleading from me before the family accepted the continuing of the relationship. They asked me that since the date I initially agreed for the wedding wasn't going to be convenient for me, when then do I think will be convenient? Since I didn't want to loose my woman, I mentioned February. The desperation on my path was much.
My mom on the other hand wants a wedding in April. She has said February is not convenient for her. All my pleas have fell on deaf ears. She has threatened not to bless the union and has even gone as far as threatening to curse me with her breasts if I wed in February.
My girl has refused to even entertain the thought of shifting the date again. She maintains that it is better that we outrightly call off the wedding, than shift it again. I understand her fears. She feels that I may just be wasting her time. I am not
This is my dilemma. Should I go with my woman who has spent three years of her life with me or do I go with my mom?
I must also mention that my mom was informed of the initial date of the wedding over a year ago. But she foot dragged in her support for months until much later in the year that I now had to take issues into my own hands. both of you are kids. your families will destroy your marriage if you eventually marry. couple should learn to make decisions together. then, you are not ready for marriage,i think. |

Ritzy10: The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Lagos State University chapter, has demanded the payment of accumulated Earned Academic Allowance unpaid since 2009 to lecturers in the institution. The union’s demand is captured in its bulletin obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Lagos. The demands, signed by signed by its Secretary, Dr Tony Dansu and the Assistant Secretary, Dr Adeolu Oyekan, indicated that the EAA was a product of the ASUU/Federal Government Agreement of 2009, which redefined the minimum benchmark for university administration in Nigeria. ASUU-LASU said that the Lagos State Government and LASU’s administration had since breached the agreement, as it remains the only university yet to pay any fraction of the allowance throughout the country. “The EAA, it should be noted, was part of the negotiated emolument of academic staff whose payment was deferred by the university when it started to implement the new salary structure.
“No one in his wildest of imagination expects the university to accumulate the allowances spanning a period of almost a decade,” it said. According to the union, ASUU-LASU under different leadership made a case for the payment of the allowances so that the university avoids an accumulation that may in the future prove burdensome. It said these plans were ignored by successive administrations and as at January 2016 when the current Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun assumed office, the arrears had already spanned to about 6 years. The union said it had raised the issue with the current vice-chancellor and forwarded components of the allowances to him when he suggested that the university had no understanding of them.
“This has since followed numerous reminders but the vice-chancellor has not for once responded and it is on this basis that the union executives decided in line with congress directive to take the case to public domain,” it said. The union noted that the ongoing renegotiation between ASUU and the Federal Government had to do with the need to improve the conditions agreed to in 2009 which was long overdue for review. According to ASUU-LASU, the ongoing renegotiation has nothing to do with the implementation of the subsisting agreement as claimed by the vice-chancellor in one of his bulletins. The union said the disregard that the university administration had exhibited toward its own academic staff was the reason why it remained the only university yet to pay any fraction of the allowance. ASUU-LASU, however, reassured the staff of its readiness to meet, dialogue and explore reasonable pathways geared toward ensuring payment of the long overdue allowance. Reacting, the university’s spokesman, Mr Ademola Adekoya, told NAN that the issues of the unpaid EAA predates the tenure of the current vice-chancellor. “The unpaid Earned Academic Allowances predated the assumption of Fagbohun to office and has been lingering since 2009 when the Federal Government agreed with ASUU that the allowances will be paid.
“Since then, nothing was paid, before the vice-chancellor was appointed in 2016, and when he came on board, he met a lot of unpaid salary arrears, denied promotions and that became his priority.
“He cannot just come and begin to pay earned academic allowances and leave promotion and salary arrears unpaid,” he said. Adekoya challenged ASUU-LASU to name Nigerian universities that had paid the EAA to a reasonable amount, as many of them were even struggling to pay salaries as when due. “How many universities have been paying the EAA in Nigeria? Most of them are struggling to pay salaries.
“The demands of workers in other universities is for their salaries to be paid as when due, as workers in some universities are even collecting half salaries so they are not talking about earned academic allowances for now,” he said. Adekoya disclosed that the vice-chancellor on behalf of the university administration was not refusing to pay the allowances but was only requesting that things be prioritised so that workers salaries could still be paid regularly.

Politics › Re: Fear Of ICC Made Jonathan To Concede Defeat – Falana by capitalzero: 7:51am On Dec 18, 2018 |
Gistpeeps: https://cdn.punchng.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/05034500/Femi-Falana-.jpg
Human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), said the real reason former President Goodluck Jonathan conceded defeat in 2015 was because of the arrest and prosecution warning issued by the International Criminal Court ahead of the elections.
He said prior to the elections, ICC had warned that should there be any violence and crimes against humanity, any leader responsible would be arrested and prosecuted the same way the ex-President of Cote d’Ivoire, Laurent Gbagbo, was prosecuted.
According to a statement made available to journalists on Monday, Falana said this at the inauguration of the League of Anambra Professionals Legal Defence Initiative, held in Lagos over the weekend.
The lawyer added that for fear of ICC, no Nigerian leader dared annul election again like a former Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd.), did in 1993.
He also dismissed the fear that President Muhammadu Buhari might be unwilling to leave office if he should lose next year’s election.
Falana said, “Unlike in 1993 when the military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, successfully annulled an election, that is no longer possible.
“Whoever does that now will end up in The Hague. He is likely to be tried for crimes against humanity because if you annul an election, you are likely to have a monumental violence in the country which will lead to crimes against humanity.
“Before the 2015 elections, the ICC warned that if there was any problem in Nigeria, anybody who was responsible would be arrested and charged like former President Laurent Gbagbo of Cote d’Ivoire. That was the atmosphere under which President Goodluck conceded victory.”
Falana said he decided to speak on the issue in order to assure Nigerians that election could no longer be annulled in Nigeria.
This, he said, was important because of the fear that had been expressed that if Buhari lost election, he might not want to hand over.
“That belongs to the past,” he declared.
A former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, on his part said the clamour for restructuring must be viewed contextually as “Nigeria had been in the process of restructuring since 1903.”

What APC is doing is that they are lavishly imitating Obama's campaign strategy. And that is not surprising; the 2015 CHANGE campaign message they used was never Tinubu's brain work ( what does Tinubu know about strategy) . it was crafted by no other person than David Axelrod whom APC hired then to craft their campaign strategy. Then come 2019 Next level theme. It was a clue taken from Obama's reelection theme FORWARD. So it has nothing to do with Tinubu. Its just an imitation done by a people lacking genuine ideas. ( in case you don't know, David Axelrod was Obama's chief campaign strategist who ran his two presidential campaigns)
As for Atiku he doesn't need much to defeat Buhari. Its already a done deal. And the reason is simple. The northerners will massively vote against Buhari as they will need Atiku who can occupy Aso rock for another eight years as against Buhari who can only go for just four years and return the power to the south. Besides the real Buhari is long dead. The current one is an imposter. I do not think buhari is dead. he is incapacitated. It is an impostor that we are seeing.real buhari will be pronounced dead after an impostor hand over to atiku in 2019. fear north. |

Ganduri: “In 2014, we said we would change Nigeria but we did not say we will do it in four years," Fashola said. The All Progressives Congress (APC) promised Nigerians would witness change but never said the agenda would be attained within any time frame, according to Minister of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola. Fashola made the clarification yesterday at the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 campaign in Ikeja, Lagos State. “In 2014, we said we would change Nigeria but we did not say we will do it in four years. This election therefore is a choice between going forward to the next level or backward because the work has already begun,” Fashola said. While explaining the reason Nigerians should vote for Buhari, the minister also denounced the previous Peoples Democratic Party-led government. “Since I became a minister, the president has never interfered in what I do. He has never lobbied me for contract and I can assure you that it is like that with other ministers,” he said, asking: “The oil revenue the former government took advantage of, what did they use it for?” He continued: “We have watched what happened in 16 years of nothing to show. Some people are trying to rewrite history now. You don’t sack a good employee. If they are living in delusion and say it was good governance, why did they lose the job? In 2017, the budget on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was cut from N30 billion to N10 billion. You know who was presiding (then). “Buhari has inaugurated an infrastructure development fund to ensure that Lagos-Ibadan, Second Niger Bridge and Abuja to Kano Road would never suffer funding problem again. Just yesterday, the two contractors on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway got a total of N15 billion to continue the work. The same thing is true of the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road. That road, for 16 years, was nothing to write about.” Fashola urged APC members to shelve their grievances, following the party’s contentious primaries, and work together to win the general election. “I urge you to vote massively for this government because the former government must not come back,” he told supporters. He also assured the people that the presidency would shift to the southwest, if Buhari wins the polls next year. But a group, Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL), thinks Nigerian’s should take Fashola’s words with a pinch of salt. It cited a recent claim by the minister that the electricity sector in the last three years witnessed a major boost, concluding that nothing could be further from the truth. “We could equally decipher the contradiction in Mr. Fashola’s claim of what was met on ground and successes recorded in his own analysis of general breakdown with the media. In the same report, he claimed that the generation his administration met on ground was 4,000 megawatts which was increased to 7,000 megawatts, while transmission was increased from 5, 000 megawatts to 7,000 megawatts within the same period under review. Now, the question we should ask is how could transmission be 5,000 megawatts when all that was generated was simply 4,000 megawatts? This underscores our belief that the honourable minister was only being clever by half by using fictitious figures to further confuse Nigerians as against the reality of their day to day life experience.” According to a statement by CACOL’s coordinator of media and publications, Adegboyega Otunuga, on behalf of the organisation’s executive chairman, Mr. Debo Adeniran, “Whereas, some areas may be enjoying a flurry of power supply for reasons not completely far from prior arrangement or greasing of the palms of electricity distribution officials, the strategic and widespread research conducted clearly shows that greater emphasis has been put on power generation far more than on transmission and distribution, thus wasting much of what was generated.” Meanwhile, a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association Olisa Agbakoba has dismissed claims that the Buhari administration would give Nigerians a better deal. At an ARISE TV morning show yesterday, he said the president’s campaign manual lacked policies to get the nation working. “It’s a handout. It’s not a political document. It has no conceptual overhang. The one for Atiku is 80 per cent. It’s got the right stuff in it. It needs more work, but it’s a working document. It’s something I can live with. I see nice things there. It’s a conceptual framework that creates micro-economic stability. It’s got all the nice indices in it. On evaluation, it is clear that the economic blueprint unveiled by Atiku addresses national needs than Buhari’s economic plans,” he said.
