Politics / Re: The REAL Reason There Is Unemployment In Nigeria = YOU by capitalzero: 9:54pm On Apr 17, 2021
Rossphinki:

It is YOU that lacks understanding of Economics. I majored in the subject, so kindly ditch such comments.

Fixated I am not, but you are naive if you don't understand the importance of patronage of the local textile industry over foreign imports, and the massive dent in unemployment that could make.

There is nothing we ''cannot'' produce in Nigeria.

So providing you with 'a list' is unnecessary. The ones that we produce, do YOU buy?

When last did you buy Nigerian made shoes?

Inflation is caused by demand outstripping supply. If locally made cement and rice are expensive, it simply means there is lack of competition in the sectors. The more people move into cement and rice manufacturing/processing, the more prices will fall due to increased competition.

Stop blaming ''power sector''. INNOSON is manufacturing vehicles with this same power sector. But if YOU prefer to buy Honda Accord than Innoson, he cannot expand his business, and create more employment. And other local manufacturers will be discouraged from entering the car manufacturing sector. It has nothing to do with ''power sector''.

TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY AND STOP TALKING RUBBISH.

How many politicians are in Nigeria in total?

Are they even up to 5,000?

All the millions of imported cars you see on the streets, are they owned by politicians?

All the Italian furniture and marble we import, do 95% of them not go to private Nigerian citizens?

''Politicians'' and ''our leaders'' are your perennial excuse for EVERYTHING.

Nothing is ever your fault.

We produce pharmaceuticals in Nigeria aplenty. We have electronics firms. Zinox Computers is a local computer/tablet/Ipad manufacturer.

You are WRONG that we lack capacity to manufacture these things, and it is that inferior mentality that makes people like YOU see an electronic product made in NIGERIA, and roll your eyes, and head for the Hewlett Packard.

And when you are challenged to change your mentality, you start looking to blame ''politicians' and ''power sector''.

Ok sir. Are u happy now?
Politics / Re: The REAL Reason There Is Unemployment In Nigeria = YOU by capitalzero: 3:14pm On Apr 17, 2021

Get real.

Are you saying that the the reason Nigerians buy Italian shoes is because local shoe manufacturers cannot meet local demand for shoes?

Are you serious?

Go and ask Aba shoe manufacturers if they have a problem meeting local demand for shoes.

They will tell you that have EXCESS CAPACITY which they cannot use, because of low patronage.

A simple mindset change among Nigerians can create WHOLE NEW INDUSTRIES virtually overnight.

Take Jeans for instance.

On any given day, not less than 30 million Nigerians are wearing a pair of Jeans.

The Jeans are all imported. Foreign material.

Now imagine for a second that Jeans went OUT OF FASHION in Nigeria, and some traditional tie and dye blue material trousers became commonly sought, due to its lighter material, and local origin.

Oh wait a minute.. All of a sudden, a whole new industry is born. Millions of young Nigerians now crazily seek these locally made tie and dye trousers. If you are seen in jeans, people laugh at you. Due to high demand, huge factories are opening up everywhere to produce these new trousers. Tie and dye specialists are suddenly in high demand, and are attracting huge salaries for their skills. In under a year, 2 million new jobs are created, in just this industry alone, with every sign pointing to increased demand, leading to more people setting up textile factories.

Another example

On any given day, not less than 20 million women in Nigeria have on 'Brazilian hair'.

But what if that style went out of fashion, and is replaced by a rise in demand for traditional hair braiding? And traditional braided wigs?

Oh wait a minute!

Suddenly we have a huge and stunning rise in demand for girls who can braid hair, and make traditional braid wigs!

Suddenly, people start opening large hairdressing centres everywhere to cater for the high demand.

Suddenly hair braiding skills attract a premium, and anyone with experience in it can get a high paying job right away.

The millions of dollars spent on capital flight to Brazil, for 'Brazilian hair' ever month, is suddenly being spent IN NIGERIA, paying indigenes for their braiding skills instead!

I could go on with more examples.

But I'm sure you get the picture.

We are FOOLISH when we sit around and demand that the government should create more jobs.

HOW?

What jobs can they create?

Jobs are created based on demand and supply, not by a politician sitting in an office and saying 'I want to create jobs'.

You cannot create jobs from thin air.

WE the people, must develop strong local demand for locally made goods.

Once THAT happens, employment rate will shoot up to stratospheric levels.

You are myopic in your view and you lack general understanding of economy. You are so fixated on dress and wears. What is percentage of imported clothes and shoe is our GDP and forex.
Can you pls list things we can produce in Nigeria and their contributions to GDP?
Are you aware that some manufacturers are relocating to nearby countries?
Cements and rice are locally produced, can justify why their costs are increasing eith worsening of naira?
If power sector is not fixed, there would not be much difference in prices of imported and local produced items with the same standard?
Ask politicians to stop importing cars, furnitures and other luxurious items?
There are even some items we have to import them because we don't have capacity to produce them locally -drugs, vaccines, electronics etc.

There are tens of millions of ordinary Nigerians who buy Italian shoes and shun locally made shoes.

In fact, Aba shoe manufacturers often label their shoes 'Made in Italy', just to get Nigerians to buy them.

Local sportswear manufacturers label their clothes 'Nike', 'Adidas', all fake names, just to attract custom from Nigerian buyers.

That shows you how debased our mentality is as a people.

It is an anti-industrialisation, pro-import mentality.

This is NOT about politicians alone.

Millions of ordinary Nigerians buy foreign-made cars, instead of local brands like Innoson or Nord, not just ''business moguls'', and ''corrupt politicians''.

We ALL are responsible for this.

Stop dodging from the responsibility of many ordinary Nigerians for our predicament.

We need a MINDSET revolution in this country.

And we don't need to wait for ''our leaders'', to effect that.

Politicians and leaders should by examples. In addition , can local producers can match local demands? Rice is a case study.
If local items are easily available, most people would buy them. Did anybody force you to buy dangote products-sugar, indomie, cement etc?

How many people patronizing foreign goods? Majority of nigerians are living below poverty line.
They cannot even afford local goods.
I think you should blame the politicians, corrupt civil servants and business moguls who patronize foreign goods instead of locally produced items.

That shows he was poor in governance compared to his predecessors. Jonathan did not do better than yaradua or Obasanjo hence the collaborative mass protests, it was a decline. Sadly Buhari followed same trail and worse.

Jonathan refused to do 3 simple things that would haves saved his government now we are here.

Jonathan did not win second term because north did not want him not because of performance. North used willing southerners to achieve their aim.
I only pity Atiku because he can never be president again. No hope. If he had stayed with pdp in 2015 and Gej won, he might be our president now.

Some Western powers who are scared that Nigeria is gradually starting to use NIN to track down and keep taps on its population with a view to checking crimes, criminals and their sponsors are also involved. They want reap profit and do not care about Nigeria or its security. If NIN can reduce that profit when defaulters lines are deactivated, that's all they care for. Not Nigerias security or anything else.

Unfortunately to bring down a muslim public figure all it takes is to only pin a lie on him that he's a terrorist or fundamentalist or even a devout muslim and the uncritical and gullible Nigerians esp the xtian folks will take the matter for head without any scintilla of objectivity or fairness. You will wonder that are these the same people whose Holly book tells them to "seek ye the truth for the truth shall set you free". On every matter, from the concepts of justice, truth dress code or hijab to others where the Bible is unequivocal in its injunctions, today's xtians will always choose to side against their own Holly book just to oppose muslims, islam or bring a Muslim down.

At the rate at which today's xtians do not possess an iota of a sense of justice, truth, fairness, morals, virtues and other hitherto xtianic values, I wonder if today we truly have people who truly qualify as xtians. Most, if not all the xtians one comes across today do not stand for anything of value and virtue, and hence they fall for anything. Gone were the days when true xtians who valued truth, justice, fairness, moralities existed. The bunch of people we have masquerading as xtians today are so only in name. They do not have any values at all.

Nigeria to introduce emergency medical, ambulance services – Official

By Nike Adebowale April 13, 2021

To reduce the number of deaths caused by the delay in access to healthcare services, the federal government has announced plans to introduce the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System.

This will provide prompt and efficient emergency medical services to the people, the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, said at the dissemination of the Nigeria Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child Adolescent and Elderly Health Plus Nutrition (RMNCAEH+N), 2021 Annual Operation Plan in Abuja on Tuesday.

Currently in Nigeria, ambulance services are executed by individual hospitals (public and private) as well as organisations and agencies.

According to Mr Ehanire, elimination of delays in access to healthcare can indeed reduce the high mortality rates recorded in the country.

“It is estimated that an efficient emergency medical treatment service can reduce mortality by nearly 50 per cent by reducing delays in physical and financial access especially at night,” he said.

He explained that the services will involve “prompt response to medical distress calls of all types with first responders, transfer to facilities, (and) assured first aid at the point of care at no immediate user cost.”

Mr Ehanire noted that the lack of functional and affordable health centres has been identified as an impediment to the attainment of the desired health and wellbeing of Nigerians.

He said the availability of these essential services is needed to combat harmful traditional practices and strengthen the decision-making power to seek appropriate health care.

Focus on women, children
The minister said low awareness on hygiene and poor choices in nutrition contributes to the poor diet of growing children in some communities.

He noted that such practices inevitably increase susceptibility to infections, slow down recovery from illness and contribute to preventable morbidity and mortality rates, especially among women, children and the elderly.

“Poor awareness of hygiene and sanitation, poor choices in nutrition that omit foods like eggs, beef and fish in the diet of growing children, ignorance of the benefits of modern health services and culturally determined gender role definitions, particularly impact the wellbeing of females and children in some communities,” he said.

The RMNCAEH+N platform was launched in October 2020 to improve the well-being of women, children, adolescents and elderly in Nigeria.

During the launch, he said challenges of the country’s health system are multidimensional and require an integrated, multi-sectoral approach.

While lamenting that the country’s health indices are poor and totally unacceptable, he said investment in the health of women and children will support the overall socio-economic development of the country.

“Our health indices are unacceptably poor and there are emerging issues around gender, public health emergencies and, most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

”Maternal mortality ratio of 512 per 1000 live births, Under-five mortality rate of 132 per 1000 live births and neonatal mortality rate of 39 per 1000 live births,” he said.
A 2019 report by the United Nation’s Children Funds (UNICEF) shows that Nigeria is the world’s number one contributor to the deaths of children under the age of five.
It said Nigeria recorded an estimated average of 858,000 under-five deaths in 2019.
“Nigeria and India alone account for almost a third,” it said.
