LocalChamp: Published January 16, 2019 The Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday ordered a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu (retd.), to permanently forfeit to the Federal Government a sum of N2.2bn found by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in his possession.
A former NAF’s Director of Finance and Budget, Air Commodore Olugbenga Gbadebo, was equally ordered to permanently forfeit a sum of N190,828,978.15 recovered from him to the Federal Government.
Also forfeited was a sum of N101m recovered from Solomon Enterprises, a company linked to Amosu.
Justice Mojisola Olatoregun ordered that the forfeited funds should be paid into the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account, adding that the order must be complied with within 14 days and the EFCC must file an affidavit to show compliance.
The judge said having looked at the application brought before her for the forfeiture of the sums, she saw no reason why Amosu, Gbadebo and Solomon Enterprises should not be ordered to permanently forfeit the money to the Federal Government.
She said she agreed with the EFCC that the funds were proceeds of criminal activities, holding that, “They (the defendants) failed to provide any facts as to the level of probability to ascertain if the funds were obtained unlawfully.”
The EFCC had last year secure an interim order temporarily forfeiting the funds to the Federal Government.
The anti-graft agency after publishing the interim forfeiture orders in the newspapers, subsequently applied to the court for the final forfeiture of the rules.
Ruling on the application on Wednesday, Justice Olatoregun held, “Upon examination of the two applications asking that the interim orders be set aside, dated July 28, 2018, from the first respondent and the interested party, I found no reason to set aside the orders. The applications are hereby dismissed.
“The only conclusion I can reach is that the funds are proceeds of unlawful activity.
“The affidavits disclose no reason why the order of final forfeiture should not be made.”
In ordering the permanent forfeiture of the funds to the Federal Government, Justice Olatoregun rejected the argument of the defence counsel that the N22.8bn fraud charges against Amosu and others were still pending before the court and that the forfeiture order would foist a fait accompli on their clients should they not be found guilty.
Justice Olatoregun said the forfeiture proceedings were an “action in rem” and a non-conviction based forfeiture. “The requirements for the two proceedings are different and distinct,” she held.
She emphasised that in a forfeiture proceedings, evidential burden shifts to the respondents to prove that they obtained the money lawfully, which she said they failed to do.
“The case (forfeiture) can go in the face of the criminal proceedings,” she said.

The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, in Lagos State, Babatunde Gbadamosi, has described the public sector pay in the state as disgraceful.
He, therefore, promised that if elected into office as governor in the state, his first priority would be to fix the public sector pay.
He assured that workers would get more pay once he assumes office as governor.
Gbadamosi, who made the promise at the recently held governorship debate, noted that there was a massive gap between what public sector workers are paid and the kind of services they are expected to offer.
“The first thing I am going to be looking at very quickly is public sector pay. What we pay our civil servants and what we demand from them, there is a massive gulf between the two. pdp wastes this guy to another party. |
Education › Re: ASUU Replies FG Today As Members Reject Tokenism by capitalzero: 8:31am On Jan 15, 2019 |
9Ebiscoo: The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is set to submit its reports today to the federal government in response to the proposal made by the latter to the union on Monday last week.
National President of the union, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, who disclosed this yesterday in an exclusive interview with THISDAY, said the national leadership took the federal government’s offer to its members, who have turned down the offer, insisting that they would not accept tokenism. Ogunyemi, who queried the refusal of the federal government to commit itself to a full tranche of the payment for revitalisation, which is N220 billion, and spread it for a period of five quarters in order to show commitment, said the proposal of over N34 billion is too low to be accepted when compared to N1.1 trillion.
While insisting that a time-frame for payments must be attached to further agreements being made by the federal government with the union, the national president also said evidence of payment must also be made, adding that all that have been done are mere verbal speeches. He said,”Yes, we took the proposal to our members and we are preparing feedback reports and by tomorrow (today), the federal government will get the union’s response.
“Our members said the amount is just too small and far from what was expected or envisaged. Our members are willing to shift grounds concerning the strike but they emphasised that they will not take tokenism.
“Is what we are asking for too much? What we are asking for is not too much. Why can’t the government give us one tranche of the five outstanding tranches for revitalisation? Why can’t the government pay the sum of N220 billion in each quarter and spread it over a period of five quarters? Remember that the issue of the Earned Academic Allowance is there.
“We are asking for a collaboration and confirmation of payment when it is done because evidence of payment is necessary. Government has been failing in its promises and so, we are calling for a timeline as regards payment. What we even have so far is a verbal statement as we are yet to see evidence of payment.”
On the issue of reversing its agreement on the participation of its members in the forthcoming general elections, Ogunyemi said there was no reversal whatsoever as members are permitted to join in the preparations.
He, however, said that the union, contrary to past arrangements, will not be able to recommend its members to the electoral body but have permitted them to participate based on personal discretion, as the union stands for democracy and its tenets.
“There was no u-turn to the agreement that members are free to participate in the general elections. What we said is that ASUU will not recommend people but members are free to participate. We will not be able to do for them what we were doing before.
“We didn’t stop our members from working with INEC. They are free to do so but on their own decision and freewill. That means personal discretion will be applied. After all the strike is not against INEC, neither is it against democracy or against the country. We will do everything possible to support the elections.”
While empathising with Nigerian students over the negative effects of the strike, Ogunyemi disclosed that once the federal government does what is expected of it, the strike will be called off within days.

Politics › SATIRE SATURDAY: Why Lagosians Must Support MC Oluomo As Governor In 2023 by capitalzero(op): 12:46pm On Jan 14, 2019 |
The atmosphere was tense. Major shops shut. Some cutlass-wielding boys moved around in unison, through the Egbeda-Akowonjo lane, spewing incoherent curse words along the way. The unusually calm atmosphere of Iyana-Ipaja and environs testified to the palpable fear that had just engulfed the air. A day earlier, Lagos NURTW boss, Saka Saola had just been assassinated, ostensibly by rival groups. I was on my way back to Eruwa campus of The Polytechnic Ibadan after the Christmas break and it was in the first week of January 2008, exactly eleven years ago today. There were insinuations that there may be retaliatory attacks and so many simply passed through Iyana-Ipaja with their hearts literally in their mouths. Others avoided the route outright. That day, within the about 50-something minutes spent in Iyana-Ipaja, en route to Abeokuta, I understood the importance of peace and how much we take things for granted. So when news flew in days ago that NURTW Treasurer, MC Oluomo, was stabbed at an APC rally, I felt this eerie sense of déjà vu––for me, it was January 2008 all over. Yet one would not understand this culture of violence/murder that is at the core of the operational ethics of the NURTW if one fails to dissect the power structure upon which the group itself rests. The NURTW, especially in South West Nigeria, has thrived largely because of the symbiotic relationships between chieftains of the group and powerful politicians across the region. This, frankly, is not peculiar to Lagos. Many residents of Ibadan would not forget quite easily the Eleweomo-Auxiliary-Tokyo kerfuffle and the Iwo Road harvest of deaths in 2009/10, wherein thugs loyal to major political parties were locked in a proxy war that claimed lives in the city. It’s not a new phenomenon though. In the second, third and fourth republics, the Adebayo Success, Busari Eruobodos and Lamidi Adedibus of this world earned political capital largely because of their facility for brewing violence, using the instrumentality of transport workers. Ditto other less notorious folks in other places. But what makes the Lagos case perculiar is that, as in politics, they are believed to be controlled by the dominant political entity in the state, headquartered at Bourdillon. In fact, there are reports that occasional squabbles among members have been settled in Ikoyi in the past. Again, members of the group are much more than mere disciples of death used during elections and disbanded afterwards; many are card-carrying members of the ruling APC and are part of a group called ‘Team Lagos’. In the last Osun guber race, even, the man presently in the eye of the storm, MC Oluomo, was seen threatening to displace Senate President Bukola Saraki as the known hegemon in Kwara. (In any case, pronto, a local thug loyal to the senate president jumped out of obscurity to issue out counter-threats too.) In essence, at the heart of electioneering and politicking in Nigeria is the core issue of violence, mayhem and brigandage and the NURTW has always been a ready-made instrument. So, frankly, the culture may not end anytime soon. And one thing that will account for its long reign is the institutional support they get from the state. Many of them even have Police officers attached to them as aides! And so until the hypocritical political elites decide to play politics that’s devoid of brigandage, the boys will remain willing instruments of violence in their hands, with ripple effect on the society’s overall peace. That explains the occasional instability in many areas of Lagos in which they have strong presence. Think Lagos Island. Think Oshodi. Think Mushin. Since the violence at the APC rally Tuesday, many residents have expressed worry over the security situation in major areas of Lagos, especially as the fear of retaliatory attacks rents the air. The Police have done well by declaring a rival stalwart suspected to have masterminded the attack wanted. But frankly, that’s a palliative. When Hamburger, a stalwart was killed last year, a similar step was taken yet this sort of violence resurfaced. Palliatives don’t solve issues. Hence, SATIRE SATURDAY has a final, ingenious, never-seen-before solution to the crisis First, it is clear that behind the so-called invisibility of most politicians is the NURTW question. Strip many of them of these merchants of violence and they become paperweight politicians. Thus, it will be foolhardy to expect the politicians to do away with the boys. But for the peace of all, there is a better, more integrative approach that could solve the problem: rather than keep the boys in the verandah of power, why not bring them into the inner recesses of power? Here is why. Already, the political elites have created a huge ‘alternative economy’ for them through the various levies they impose on hapless transport workers. Already they are ‘loyal party members’, which makes them qualified to aspire for positions of leadership. Already, they have a battalion of Policemen guarding them. The question then is, why have the killings continued? Simple answer: Because like Oliver Twist, these perks are never enough and the boys want more. Besides, there are fewer juicy positions in the NURTW, like MC Oluomo’s, unlike the very many ones we have in the Lagos state cabinet. And so, to quench this incessant rivalry and killings, and since there is very little or no difference between these guys and those we eventually have to deal with as political representatives anyway, why not bring them directly into government, pray? Last year, Sunday Igboho, another famed ‘strategist’ of politicians in Oyo state, declared that he would be contesting the Oyo guber race. In Igboho’s hearts of heart, he reasoned––quite rightly––that there isn’t any distinguishing difference between him and many bestriding the governance space in Oyo. This column opines that what Igboho has given us is a rare insight into the inner minds of these boys and how to arrest the underlying cause of these incessant killings: put them in power. Clearly, development is a mirage under an atmosphere of chaos. So if a violence-free society is what Lagosians desire, then we must allow those who understand the architecture of violence control governance, so that there will be peace. While that may be unrealistic in the coming elections since primaries have been conducted, plans must be put in place pronto ahead of the 2023 elections. In the light of this, ladies and gentlemen, SATIRE SATURDAY proposes MC Oluomo as Lagos governor in 2023. And for the sake of peace, this column nominates his closest rival, Kunle Poly, as deputy governor. In that cabinet, the much older Itu Cardozo, widely known as ‘Baba Oba’ among the boys, could be positioned as the SSG. Alado Baba Bili, the fiery man from Mushin, would be special adviser on security. Koko Zaria, the funky, sociable dude in Oshodi who doubles as the darling of Nollywood actors, could man the ministry of tourism, entertainment and culture. Like Bayelsa’s Alameseiagha, the dude in Police custody over phone theft, Seun Egbegbe, could be granted clemency and be positioned at the ministry of Science and Technology––given his familiarity with phones and Computer Village. For his incredible athletic skills, Tafa Sego, who allegedly fled the scene when the mayhem occurred on Tuesday, could help man the sports ministry. For those in support of this motion––“Tuaale!” But for folks who choose to oppose this, there is a default response: “Gbe body e!” __________________________ Oladeinde tweets via @Ola_deinde www.premiumtimesng.com |

Cantonese: When APC won the election in 2015 everything seemed to be 'very well' until Saraki reminded them that people contributed to form the party and claim victory. People like Saraki understood the rules of power and wanted their positions secured early. Immediately after APC started showing signs of trouble. By 2017 powers within the party, e.g. Tinubu, Okorocha, Amosun & co. got tired of Oyegun and wanted to remove him by all means. Oyegun predicted the tomorrow of APC reminding them of the fragility of their structure. He requested that APC should delay their party elections to enable them cement their hold on power but the powers who thought they were bigger than him refused and removed him. Oshiomole was thought as the best option and the governors so praised him that it appeared that all the problems within the party had been solved. Oshiomole led them to party elections, made enemies and the product of their visionlessness is there for all to see. By the pronouncement of the federal high court in Rivers state today APC cannot present any candidate. Same goes for Zamfara state. Amosun led the APM candidate to Buhari with an assurance that APC will win (what a hypocrite!). Ogun state is lost. Imo state is lost. Oyo state the same. Delta state is a PDP state and APC is in a mess there with a court case. Major players decamped nationwide. Clearly the party is weaker. All APC leaders and members campaign only on Buhari's name. It is clear that the party is built around him. We do not know their plans and agenda. So without Buhari APC is a finished party. What is wrong with APC? As the party in power can they not put their acts together? Oyegun saw this and sought to prevent its occurence. Short sighted and greedy men have cost APC the election. buhari is apc and apc is buhari. if buhari died or loss reelection, apc will be dead. if buhari wins election, after his tenure, apc will die as a party. |

This year, our 2019 resolution is strict to mind your business but at times, you can't just pretend to not seeing some stories and wonder how on earth do things happen. We are minding our business on Twitter and we saw NANS trending, we thought we should ignore it until someone tagged a picture of the NANS president cruising in his car in Abuja while students are home all thanks to ASUU strike. According to reports, the car was seen in a Behind area in Abuja on New Year's day, who no like better thing abeg.
The NANS is a student body in Nigeria that fights for the wellbeing and betterment of Nigerian students. The body comprises of leaders that are elected into office from all the 36 states of the federation. NANS has been under fire over its reported visit to the president recently where some quarters are accusing them of (let us spare you the details).
We decided to do a review of this beast, no doubt, you must have some pepper in your pocket is able to ride this type of car in Nigeria. Our searchlight beam towards this car and we found out that our excellency, The NANS President is cruising in Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG. We must confess that it is very difficult to decipher the model of this car as Mercedes Benz cars look alike, if you thought we are wrong, please be quick to correct us.
For your information, this car is said to cost about $51,800 which is about #19million
What Is In A Name?
Back in January of 2013, Mercedes-Benz pulled the sheets on the CLA Class at the North American International Auto Show. The car was a bit of a gamble for the German automaker, combining a compact, entry-level platform with four doors and a fastback coupe roofline. The formula ended up working and the CLA went on to be a smash hit, selling in record numbers across the globe.
Initially called the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG when it debuted as a 2014 model, it’s now the Mercedes-AMG CLA45 for 2017. While it added 20 horsepower (up to 375), 18 lb-ft of torque (up to 350), and an optional limited-slip front differential in 2016, the latest updates are mostly superficial. These include standard LED headlights, new wheel designs, Lunar Blue metallic paint, and redesigned front and rear bumpers; inside there’s new aluminum trim, Sahara Beige and black leather upholstery, and an updated 8.0-inch center screen. A backup camera and automated emergency braking become standard, too.
Overview
In the CLA45's engine bay lies a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 375 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 350 lb-ft. of torque from 2,250 to 5,000 rpm thanks to a turbocharger and high-tech engineering such as multiple spark ignition and multiple injections. The mill sends the CLA45 from zero to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and on to a top that is electronically limited to 155 mph
Hand-built, the engine is linked to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via a new 4Matic all-wheel-drive system designed specifically to be used in cars with a transversally-mounted engine. It uses a power take-off unit that is built directly into the gearbox and cooled by its oil to transfer power to the rear wheels. By eliminating the need for a separate transfer case, the number of moving components drops and the total weight of the system is reduced.
Like most performance cars, the CLA45 AMG comes with stability control that offers variable degrees of intervention. During aggressive cornering, Curve Dynamic Assist applies a touch of braking to the inside rear when to act as a torque-vectoring system and improve turn-in.
Aggressive appearance The CLA45 AMG looks more dynamic than the regular CLA thanks to a twin-blade grille, muscular bumpers front and back, an air diffuser that incorporates four rectangular exhaust tips and a slightly lowered ride height. Model-specific exterior colors, wheel designs and "Turbo" emblems on both front fenders finish off the look.
Life Aboard
The CLA45's cabin is largely carried over from the regular CLA. Unabashedly designed to appeal to a young and trendy audience, the cockpit is characterized by aircraft-inspired round air vents surrounded by chrome bezels and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel upholstered in leather.
Carbon fiber trim on the dash, two sports seats up front and an AMG-specific instrument cluster that includes a timer emphasize the performance-focused nature of the car.
A seven-inch color touch-screen that protrudes from the top of the center stack comes standard. Controlled by either button on the center stack or a voice recognition software, COMAND integrates the car's audio, hard-drive-based navigation, climate control, and connectivity functions into a single unit.
The touchscreen also lets passengers control Mercedes' MBrace2 infotainment system, which runs cloud-based applications and provides on-the-go access to the internet. In addition to offering a wide array of concierge services, Mbrace2 comes with an application that lets smartphone-wielding owners lock or unlock the car from a distance and instantly find it in a parking lot.
Standard Bluetooth connectivity enables the driver to make hands-free phone calls and stream music. Other standard equipment includes rain-sensing wipers, A/C, power front seats with three-position memory and an electronic parking brake.
The list of options consists of Advanced Park Assist, a panoramic sunroof, Blind Spot Assist, heated front seats, burl and walnut trim for the dash and door panels, bi-xenon headlights, a Becker MAP PILOT navigation system, 18-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels and summer performance tires. Three option packages are also available.
Occupant safety
In addition to seven airbags, the CLA45 features a radar-based Collision Prevention Assist system that can warn the driver of potential accidents and, when necessary, automatically apply the brakes to prevent or mitigate the severity of a crash. The car also comes with Attention Assist, which provides audible and visual warnings if it senses that the driver is drowsy.
Key competitors
The Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG has very few direct competitors. The Audi S4 comes close in terms of power and price, but it is slightly bigger, heavier and noticeably slower in the sprint from zero to 60 mph.
Mercedes has gone to great lengths to avoid overlapping in its lineup but CLA45 customers will undoubtedly be tempted to look at the C63 AMG, which offers considerably more power in a rear-wheel drive package for not much more money.

MyTototear: We have been dating for eleven months and we both agreed that there should be no sex. I cook for him, wash his clothes sometimes sleep at his place but on 31st December last year at night he suddenly insisted on sex even after I told him no. I sleep with with just panties which he is already use to although he is free to touch me but no sex. On 31st night he tried to force me and even tore my panties while struggling with me , I had to cry out loud before he left me and started apologizing. Since I left his house yesterday he has been calling and apologizing because I told him it's over .
Is it wise to give him a second chance cos I am confused.
Sorry for the long write-up.
Insults are also welcomed but please also advise me like your sister. tell him to go and pay bride price. you are living couple life. and if you do not want to have his way, do not sleep in his house over night. |

Hoaxey: Dignity won't feed me, I tarnish my dignity rather to starve to death 1. Sell some of your properties including your phone, get fairly used ordinary phone for calls and sms. 2. Find work, yes, labour work like assisting bricklayer. in a week, you can make 5k 3. Ask for help in church/mosque/shrine if you have been attending any one. Begging cannot solve your problem. |
