TELEPHONE CONVERSATION ....Prof. Wole Soyinka The price seemed reasonable, location Indifferent. The landlady swore she lived Off premises. Nothing remained But self-confession. "Madam" , I warned, "I hate a wasted journey - I am African." Silence. Silenced transmission of pressurized good-breeding. Voice, when it came, Lipstick coated, long gold-rolled Cigarette-holder pipped. Caught I was, foully. "HOW DARK?"...I had not misheard...."ARE YOU LIGHT OR VERY DARK?" Button B. Button A. Stench Of rancid breath of public hide-and-speak. Red booth. Red pillar-box. Red double-tiered Omnibus squelching tar. It was real! Shamed By ill-mannered silence, surrender Pushed dumbfoundment to beg simplification. Considerate she was, varying the emphasis- "ARE YOU DARK? OR VERY LIGHT" Revelation came "You mean- like plain or milk chocolate?" Her accent was clinical, crushing in its light Impersonality. Rapidly, wave-length adjusted I chose. "West African sepia"_ and as afterthought. "Down in my passport." Silence for spectroscopic Flight of fancy, till truthfulness chaged her accent Hard on the mouthpiece "WHAT'S THAT?" conceding "DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS." "Like brunette." "THAT'S DARK, ISN'T IT?" "Not altogether. Facially, I am brunette, but madam you should see the rest of me. Palm of my hand, soles of my feet. Are a peroxide blonde. Friction, caused- Foolishly madam- by sitting down, has turned My bottom raven black- One moment madam! - sensing Her receiver rearing on the thunderclap About my ears- "Madam," I pleaded, "wouldn't you rather See for yourself?" |
This is the level they've ridiculed Christianity! If they do the same thing to Islam, na killings of innocent people go follow am. |
If it's true, then I must respect Tinubu's political sagaciousness. |
Those are make-believe Priest. Their duty is to soften the over-islamic tendency/phobia APC Muslim-muslim ticket has created. Mathematically, Tinubu has no shot fielding a Christian running mate from the North. It's just unfortunate that Tinubu is a Muslim himself. That's why APC should have allowed Oshibajo. |
Because he's too self-centric! A very good stricker though. |
Their tongue, their life. |
Nobody warns us about heat waves here. If the sun likes make it kill us, our government no send. |
Why are they putting lasers on our players and goal keeper? This issue has been ongoing for years and it's very unfortunate that Caf and Fifa are not doing anything about it. |
Thank God, the era of inconclusive election is gradually over. Politicians have used that word "Inconclusive" to rig many elections. Congratulations to Senator Adeleke. Congratulations to PDP. I waiting to see his Dancing steps. |
You should have taken his plate number and let FRSC prosecute him. That's what community policing is all about. Your video has no meaning if it cannot provide a detail/intelligent lead to his arrest. If he kills people or himself tomorrow, you should know larger portion of the blood will be on you for not doing the right thing. |
Police na your friend ooo |
helinues:Are you still hearing about "SARS" and their uprising? But Boko Haram terrorist still ravaging the country right? Sometimes we just need to think like a proper human being with a functioning brain. End SARS movement was widely and globally acknowledged as Peaceful Protest until government agencies highjacked it. Boko Haram on the other hand remains a terrorist organisation. I don't know how you should even compare the two. |
wolesmile:No, "I need to know" |
Staunner:Your son will throw something at it |
Soon, muric will fight for his daughters in that school to wear ghost cover. Na real wa for this contrapment called Nigeria. |
tolue42:When you see dirty teeth in a man, you should know he has a bad mouth! |
My people........why is this man not sacked? My people........why are we not protesting for the sack of Aregbesola as the Interior minister? My people........Is there any minister that has failed woefully as Aregbesola? My people........Let's put politics aside, I'm a Yoruba man, Has Aregbesola Performed above average? I Can't count how many jailbreaks have happened in his tenure. My people........I have just one problem with you! When will you start demanding for the right? |
frog12:If you were born in there time, you probably would test with your Prick! You must understand that science evolves and it was on that basis what you see today evolved. From cathode ray tubes to box tv, to flat screen LED tv's....and now you can have a screen as tiny as an A4 paper. What am I saying? .....Someone has to pay the ultimate price for development at every point in time. That's just life. Current scientist ain't better than them, the same way they will not be better off than future scientist. We are only limited by our present conditions, situations and time. |
Dreal1247:Only shallow minded think of use and dump. God doesn't dump His own. Even when their mission is completed, God celebrate them. Stop thinking like someone that has no mind or sense. |
So what? From what I've learnt from Elon...."don't ever be afraid to fail". Even Marie and Perrie Currie died in their discovery of televisioning. Sometimes, some people just have to pay the ultimate price for the greater benefits of mankind. |
iCauseTrouble:Na the real G.O be that! Freeze Baba |
So animal cruelty na offence and them never arrest Lalasticlala and others that kill snakes and even have the guts to post it in this forum? |
MMWandali:If the new lady no catch him by herself, then we are forever doomed in this country. |
LoneWolf212:You did not read the first statement? "A self styled Emir...." |
Why are defenders always ugly?? Just like Nigerian police!! Anyways I would marry any of them if they have money...
Because you need gorillas to scare daring strikers. |
djlawex02:The most difficult tasks are the ones that involves critical thinking and managing other people not the foot soldiers that grinds the machine. In Henry Ford voice, "Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is the probable reason why so few engage in it". If you put those you said are working like machine in that position, don't be surprised the business might collapse in few months. You may think CEO & COO are not working, but when you get to that position you will realize they do far more work than you could imagine. |
Useless clergy man. This world don turn upside down. |
Truthisunique2:He doesn't play Deltan Politics. He plays National politics. |
Totilopussylick:Don't be decieved, there are securities watching over them either directly or indirectly in most of the developed countries. What they often do is to comb/clear the environment they perceived pose security risk ahead of their principal. I've once been in an hotel in a foreign country where security services in conjunction with the hotel management abruptly checked-out all the customers whose windows were facing directly where the president was going to address a large audience. In most cases secret services have done detailed background checks of the environment to determine how heightened/enhanced physical security presence they will provide. When you think security men are not there, trust me, they have their eyes watching directly or indirectly. Securities do fail though because Criminals are always one or more steps ahead. Shinzo Abe's case is a classical example. This is a clear case and major reason why most security experts believe physical presence alone can be a deterrent to any criminal element. There are soft and hard security measures always in place. Most of the hard measures are often hidden in many of the civilized worlds. |
DrStrange2000:Our polithiefians can never resign Lai Lai. Just look at Aregbesola still minister of interior despite repeated attack on prisons and prisonals escaping. He should be ashamed of himself and resign, but he will not. The President sef no get balls to sack him. |
saintopus:My grandfather made this statement 45years ago. My dad made same 30years ago. I stupidly join them to make the same statement 15years ago. And now.....do you think it's your turn to make the same statement? Do you want the next generation to continue with this statement or we should just go for the ultimate....."Revolution and spilt this "contrapment" called Nigeria" |
This has entered another level ooooo. |
