kelvindj98: True talk bro. Being black in the US is a huge risk. Can u imagine that just recently a black woman was shot dead in her home just because the neigbour called the cops to come do a welfare check on her because he saw her front door opened. Can't forget about the one who entered the wrong apartment shot a black dude just chilling in his home. The lady got only 10 years for that murder. Black Americans are still far away economically. The only way most of them become wealthy is through sports, music, movies etc. And it's simply because schools in major black areas are underfunded so thar quality of the students are low. There are a lot of documentaries that really shed a light on the systemic racism in the US. I was really enlightened when I watched them. You captured the summary in the last paragraph. "SYSTEMIC RACISM". This is so rife in all these so called developed countries. I've witnessed it life and direct. |

I have a problem with a church in my area. I don't know what they need loud speakers for. They are just about 20people inside, yet they are blasting noise up to 3streets away.
The worst part is, they are having programs almost everyday.
Churches and mosques especially should be sound proof. They should contain their noise within the building.
Please how can I report them? |

When we have politicians controlling the electorates, why won't they be craving for third term?
I still maintain, we need a new order in our political sphere. That's when we will really appreciate what democracy is. Otherwise, it will be a recycling of the same people in the system and nothing will change or perhaps continue to change for the worse. |
Nairaland General › Re: Lightning Strike Kills 19 Cows In Iba, Osun by CaptainFM1: 9:45pm On Nov 23, 2019 |
We are just so backward in this country. There's nothing like animal right to the owner, let alone him understanding what "duty of care" is.
Few months ago, similar incident was linked to spiritual powers... I just hope people understand that same lightning and thunder can strike even human to death if he is exposed on the field.
This is the main reason why football matches are stopped and everyone seek for safe shelter when lightnings and heavy thunders are on.
Rather than gathering all the cows in a safe sheltered location, they are left exposed to the harsh weather, and someone will now stupidly conclude that spiritual lightning and thunder struck down 30cows.
I'm disappointed that reputable news media such as Channels TV is having headline "Mysterious lightning struck down cows in Ondo". They were so shallow minded!
In a sane society, the owner of the cows will be heavily criticized and or his licence to rear animal or operate ranches revoked.
We joke about the situation or not look at it broadly. But the truth is, someone is meant to protect those cows. |

NwaAmaikpe:

Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivereth him from them all. Surely, Allen will overcome.
He should not make the mistake of stepping down Because the same people who want him to step aside from his position in Air Peace until he clears his name did not ask their National leader to do the same to explain how he got the money he moved in Bullion Vans.
Back to the story. Ibeto was the Cement company to beat, the banks came for him Innoson became the face of Indigenous African vehicles, GTBank came for him. The court awarded the win to Innoson. Capital Oil started making Oando and Forte Oil uncomfortable, AMCON came after him. The court once again awarded the win to Capital Oil.
Now, AirPeace is redefining the face of aviation in Nigeria and the US is now after him for laundering money. Money that was duly transferred via the CBN to the Plane makers. Unless I am irredeemably dumb or some hydraulic fluid is seeping out of my Cerebellum, this thing does not just add up to me.
So my questions are, Is it now a sin to be a successful Igboman. Is it a crime to rise against the odds of being Igbo and excel in business in the uneven Nigeria playing field?
How come things are put in place for others to excel no matter what while every known persecution trails others?
I'm not asking a lot, I'm just saying that water has passed garri when the mosquito begins to suck breast milk meant for the baby instead of blood. Well, better not to speculate. I need more info on how he take Corner those money! |

You don't test true love. True love can only pass through true test with time. You don't put true love through a simulation or test.
Can you jump Infront of a gun for let's say a friend, g/f, son or daughter? It is when it happened that you can now say this is actual life test of true love.
But, don't ever purposely test true love, because even you can fail when it matters. Only God cannot fail.
True love should not be delibrately tested! |

Properties › Re: My Landlord And I by CaptainFM1: 8:08pm On Nov 16, 2019 |
OMOTOWO: Good afternoon Nairalanders,
I got a quit notice in September (my rent expired 31-10-2019) and I am supposed to vacate the room and palour self contain by march 2019.
Today, my landlord called me and said why have I not come to make enquiry as to why I got the letter.
I told him I know the letter was from a genuine lawyer and I decided not bother in asking him why because I know why .
The reason is not far-fetched from the fact that I quarreled with him twice because of disconnected electricity supply for four days when I was not owing him. I actually fought with him for good two days. I dared him and his generation not to fix the light until I come back from office. The first I did, he didn't reconnect the light but he reconnected the second time .
The light was disconnected because some tenants who occupied other SCs didn't pay theirs. I actually told him to pay and disconnect others who have not paid because I am tired of this kind of monthly occurrence. Somebody like me pay very early. Then, he should have a way as a landlord of getting his money when he pays for everybody instead of every month disconnection.
To cut the story short, he said he has my type as son and there is no way such disagreement will not come to play. He said he didn't actually mean it that he was only threatening me. He said he asked for the letter to be written to me by his lawyer and then he has the right to withdraw the letter too. (I think he needs money and the man is thinking March ending is too long to get another rent for the SC)
He asked me when I am paying the rent. The rent is actually #140k but I told him I will try and credit him #100,000 first. When he dropped the call, I called my wife and explained what happened to her. She let me realize the man is trying to get the six month rent for the quit notice period of six months he gave us. She said we should not play into his hands. I actually remebered the man told me on phone that if I don't have the whole #140k now, I can pay half which is #70,000. This is where I discovered what my wife said might be true .
We are actually trying to leave the house before or by March ending as the notice read before this call.
I hope this man is not trying to play smart though I know we are to pay for the six months of the notice but I don't plan to give him until I am ready to pack.
Should I involve his lawyer because his contacts are written in the letter he gave me ?
Is my landlord real ? Is he trying to play smart to get money for the notice period early? Should I credit him the #100,000? What if he returns #30,000 and claim I only pay for the notice and he keeps dragging issue with me that the notice still hold? I can't afford to loose my #70,000 just like that because the money is for the new accommodation I am looking forward to get? Can I ask him to withdraw the letter first (may be in his wife and my wife presence )?
Lest I forget, my landlord extorts a lot. That's his hobby. Pay him the 6months. |
