I have family there so accommodation and feeding is sorted.

Wait till you get there and stay beyond 2 weeks before you make this conclusion. No paddyman for jungle.

Better hold enough money for you and your children if you dont want to lose your sanity.

Please also remember to tell us if or when you make a 13% loss, we can learn from both sides of the market. How long did you hold both stocks? Enjoy your loot.

Meanwhile the tradeview.com site you recommended is not in existence.

https://www.tradingview.com/

To get charts on NSE stocks you need to subscribe to one of the paid services. Plenty of free information and insights there though if you know what you are looking for.

If polaris latest result is anything to go by, then we can conclude that the bank has fully recovered. They reported PAT that is even more than what FCMB and Fidelity reported.https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2020/04/polaris-bank-records-impressive-2019-financial-results/amp/

Window dressing. What did you expect?

Same reason why many companies declare excellent results some quarters before a rights issue or public offer. Some even pay healthy dividends which they plan to collect back via rights issue immediately.

Thanks Sir

So today na today

We must see our dividend ooo. ....make them do us like ucap with 50k to cool our temper down

They wont release it today o. They are yet to serve notice of the board meeting that will sit to consider the outcome of the "international" audit. They need to give at least 2 or 3 weeks notice i believe. Its only after the board considers and approves that the result will be released. In all i think you should be targeting end of May or early June.

Pa Emma, Mcy and other senior colleagues, please can you give me contrary opinion to the attached projection.

The focus is majorly on dividend plough back. The end result might be different but is it worth trying?

A spread sheet may have made this clearer.

As a rule of thumb, a simple well thought out investment strategy followed to the letter is always valuable. But you need discipline to be able to shut other investment options that may come up during that period. You need discipline to ignore the sometimes wild price fluctuations. You need to place a value to those shares so that within that 5 years once price exceeds value you consider option of selling or holding on to your strategy. Also be aware that one or two of these stocks will disappoint in a bad way during the 5 years. Those are the simple facts of investing.

As an academic exercise it may be okay but i don't understand the calculations that's why i said s spread sheet may be better.

Also look at this strategy from the point of Holding Period Returns over 3 to 5 years.

The results helped with foreign exchange revaluation of over 14b

Yes. They are masters there.

I expected J.Berger not to be caught in this revaluation trap as in 2016 and 2017 but its like they didnt learn much from that experience. They need a better Treasury function.

Flat Result. Ok in nominal terms but impact of cost of regulation and regulatory risks are apparent.

Loans and Advance grew by 44% but interest income declined by 6%. Impairment charges almost doubled. Opex grew by 14%. Net commission and fees dropped by 28%.

Trading income almost doubled but not sustainable as their stock of treasury bills dropped by 20%. They can't match this type of volume/income relationship from the new stock of tbills on offer.

So we watch and begin to moderate expectations for 2020.

I made my comment partly because if the bolded. Some analyst here would highlight a stock and reserve details of their reasons. But they would not comeback to tell when they changed their minds on the stock, forgetting that many newbies, relying on their earlier highlights, must have make reasonable investments on those stocks believing the "promoter" to have equally keyed in.
Latter na regrets go follow and you will hear the promoter saying things like "I bailed out(secretly) last year at... with tesere profit" meanwhile the newbie continue to suffer in losses.

Exactly. They tell you when its time to buy but don't tell you when its time to sell. In the mini bull of December/January I remember some people, me inclusive, requested Oracle to signal when its time to bail out and he did. But those who may not understand the fundamentals of stock investment, and the up and down movement started abusing the poor guy; calling him a harbinger of bad news. The rest is now history.

Well said!
Guess you referred to me here as well.
Well, i noticed that you people stopped replying enquiries here.
The experts are nowhere to be found, they thus resorted to asking the person available.
I think you people should come back!
When they ask, you can always answer them professionally and give more direction when one person err or is going off lane.
Keeping silent and ignoring them cos they're new to the system is not too good as far as I'm concerned. You guys started from somewhere too. No need to wait to condemn someone else's good intention.
This is my view of the situation of things here. grin

@bolded...Not really Madam. I was referring more to the those who want to be told invest in coy A or coy B. The assistance you offer go beyond that including directing oldies and newbies on how to pursue dividend matters with registrars etc. Even me, when i am trying to stay away from the market for some days i just look for your price trend updates intermittently..so keep it up.

I have also seen you refer people to go and start reading from the beginning of the thread or start from past pages and I think that is the way to go.

uchetobe once said he would make some revelations on the stock including the projected share price. Nothing till now.
People don tie down money for this stock sote them lose all the dividends that zenith, uba, wapco etc had to offer. This life

I think people should stop looking for tips and start doing some of the heavy lifting in reading up about these companies and their stocks themselves. If you are asking for specific information about a company, i guess that's okay but this trend of "Is company A a good stock to invest in?" just tire me. And people actually answer without understanding the person's investment goals, level of financial literacy and type of cash at the persons disposal. Tomorrow gbas gbos go full thread.

I actually consider that question irrelevant. But since you really need an answer, here is it:

The way I will feel about a preacher that come preach me with the smells of alcohol is the same way I will feel if that preacher comes to me the smells of fufu or body odour.

Again the 1Corinthians 8 : 13 that you quoted shows also that it is not a sin to drink alcohol but you chose to avoid it bc of what orders may say.

If you had read the Romans 14 that I recommended you would have seen the you are not suppose to call orders sinners just bc they eat what you do not eat.

Abeg una no go kill me with laugh. I love this thread.

Yeah, let's hear from fcmb holder too.I am an existing holder even b4 qualification date.I got mine.Need to hear from those that bought on the qualification date.

No cause of alarm.Just for us to learn something new.

Firstly i used to own FCMB (mandated) and sold off every single unit when price was right.

Feb/March i started buying again right up to qualification date.

I got dividend for every single unit less 10% witholding tax. I did'nt even go to do new mandate but note i still bought through same stockbroker.

No. It used to be the case but not anymore after the SEC directive on it.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/businessday.ng/exclusives/article/banks-fined-over-n600bn-as-cbn-hits-ldr-defaulters-again/amp/

"The sanction of N600 billion means that banks had a loan shortfall of around N1.2 trillion from the required value of loans that will have enabled them meet the 65 percent LDR policy. While the banks will not lose the money taken as sanctions, they will forfeit any interest they would have earned on the deposits. Analysts told BusinessDay that banks may be losing up to N6 billion monthly in interest income due to this December sanction."

Some clarification from a previous similar exercise...

A total debit of about N1.4 trillion was passed to the banks this week as special CRR. Nobody remembers to factor in cost of regulation in the different valuation models for banks.

UACN currently undergoing a wealth transfer process. wink cheesy grin
Some folks will sell to us(and we will gladly buy from them)
...then they'll later come back to buy from us.
And we shall sell to them @ a great premium.

If u are lucky to buy into the "trade fair" today, well, lucky u.

HOLD !!

It is well.

Bro, You have been on this UACN thing for close to 2 or 3 years now, since the era of Skying up the Caverton, when its price was in the N17/N18 range. How long should people hold out on optimism cos since then the price has not reached that level again. It dropped to sub N5 before rising to about N10 and then dropping again.

Just this week you said you were going to rest the matter on UACN and here we go again.....

That morning exchange today between RabbiDOracle and Meshpips on the future direction of the market is the way i expect productive exchanges to go on this forum. State your position with evidence, disagree on points, move on and let the market take its course.

No name calling.
No digging up of past posts to prove who is a buffoon.
No attempt to prove the other wrong at all costs.

Thanks to Rabbi and Meshpips and more of this!

On a particular stock, can "buy" and "sell" be placed at the same time i.e. to buy at lowest price and sell at highest price.

Buy, yes. If you don't already have it in your account however a sell order cannot be entered.

However you can buy in the morning and sell same day. The buy order must be executed first.

Isn't it better to have diversified investments. Having both rental income and dividends from stocks isn't bad. Rental income from a building 10 years ago should have grown by now same for dividend from a growth stock.

My recommendation is to start JIJO with 3% - 5% of your portfolio till you understand the character of the different stocks. Yes, their "character and behaviour" cos they do have it just like the humans who are purchasing them.

Thanks Oga .its a gradual process .i will get there some day

You sure will. Rule of thumb you should consider complying with as well is not to rush to deploy realized profit into another trade. When the sweet money hit your account, take a deep breath before your next buy action. You will avoid more losing propositions this way.
