The job requires a creative problem solver and we have been searching for a suitable candidate since December 2019.

The question is a problem we faced in the office in 2014 and is one we agree will force any candidate to think outside the box. Candidates also have approximately one month to give a response.

She was too quick to rule herself out. I hope she returns to give it another shot. Hustle culture is very important.

I could appoint you

Have a few million forgotten shares there grin grin

Received a call about a month or so ago from someone there reminding me about an offer for purchase or something

Been thinking of what to do since the call , what happens if I refuse to sell

Once the proxies are available mention me and I will guide you how to complete and nominate me. Actually once those major institutional investors vote for the acquisition then you must have to sell. You can only hope to ha e enough nuisance value so that they can increase the purchase consideration.

With all due respect sir, those questions are too complex. I have no idea on how to answer them. I didnt study computer science.

Funny isn't it? A few posts away you said you could work anywhere and here you are ruling out the first chance you got because you didnt do computer science.

Any shareholder of Law Union in the house? Please appoint me as proxy so that i can participate in this court ordered meeting. There are a few pertinent questions for law Union Board and management.

The purchase consideration per share of N1.23 is at a 28% discount to BVPS of N1.71 as at Half year 2020. Verod Capital and management/board are are leveraging on depressed prices of insurance stocks over the past few years make that purchase consideration look attractive. For 100% sale as an invetor i will be looking for premium on higher of market price or book value per share (whichever is higher)......and this is one of the better managed insurance companies.

Retail shareholders getting s*rewed as usual by the institutional ones. Alternative Capital, Swanlux Solutions etc. una try o. Shareholders have to leverage on Resolution D to get them to increase the consideration. But it will be a tough call as the institutional investors control close to 80% of voting rights.

Hello Gurus, I am seeing some funny rates on Investing .com. What is happening there

That site should have a problem. Yesterday it sent me alerts that most of the stocks on my watchlist had gone below N5.00. If you see the way i raced to my terminal to start mopping up only to discover it was BAU on NSE. The prices were not even any where near single digits.

What will you say about those who bought land banana Island in 2010 at N800 million,, who are currently looking for buyer for the same land at N600 million in 2020.

That same N800 invested in Zenith bank shares and dividends reinvested would have grown to N2.67 billion in 2020

This is with the benefit of hindsight.

How do you know if your stock is over-valued? When it gives over 100% capital appreciation?

This is entirely up to you and how you want to play in the market.

Before you buy a stock you must have done your valuation to know if its over priced at current price level. Assume you valued "Stock A" at N5 in January 2020 but it was trading at N8 and you considered that price too high and decide to wait. Eventually, in March 2020 the market prices it at N3.50 and to you the fundamental are still the same. You buy at N3.50 and suddenly in May 2020 the market decides that the price is now N6.00. You look at the fundamentals again and its still okay and your valuation sheet shows the stock should still not be worth more than N5.00.

What will you do?

this makes the wohle effort look like a waste of time. N100,000 in 2010 was more valuable than N338,354 today.

That's why holding any stock for ever mindlessly does not make sense. Once the market prices your stock higher than your valuation, why hold on to it? You can sell and buy back later.

Imagine those that sold Zenith at close to N40/share in early 2018 and buying back now. Compare them to those taking N2.50k profit every year since then. Who is better off?

I actually took some time to calculate the probability of hitting 5.2

From the chart I posted above out of 24 bars, 7 crossed the 5.2 mark with good margin. Meaning that in the last 24 trading days, 7 of these days traded at 5.2 atleast briefly.

The probability of hitting 5.2 is 7÷24 = 0.29 or 29%. Meaning that each subsequent trading day has a chance of 29%, individually.

Now, the fun part. What is the probability that price will trade at 5.2 atleast once in the next 4 days (Monday to Thursday) ?

I like using the complement as it makes things easier.

Probability that price will not hit 5.2 in a given day is 1-0.29 = 0.708 or 71%

Probability that price will not hit 5.2 not even once in 4 days is 0.708^4 = 0.25 or 25%

Finally, probability that price will hit 5.2 atleast once in 4 days is 1-0.25 = 0.75 or 75%

Conclusion: there is a 75% chance that my exit point will actualize within the next 4 trading days.

So you now see that the odds were against you winning that trade on Friday and spending that 20k this weekend. Your day scalping or day trade set up failed cos once it does not perform in minutes or intra day it has failed. Scalping may appear like taking random positions but it requires statistical modeling.

Again it's not all stocks that you can successfully do day trading on. FBNH will be a difficult set up cos of its character. You may still win with it but just be aware any day trade or scalping win here is pure luck. Enjoy.

What school fees? If you are offered 2% or 0% today, which will you choose as a rational human being? Will it make a difference if a third party is making same as u or even higher off ur deal?

Besides, the market has been sideways for over 3 weeks, do you think it will start trending next week?

Do you know that if the market persists with its choppy nature I will make more than you who is waiting for that 10%. I need 6 times 2%.

There is only a 33% probability it will rise higher than N5. That means the odds are stacked against you making that 2%. Looking at the closing price now I see that it closed flat. I hope you got your 20k or 2% from that trade.

Interim dividends won't change anything, I'm afraid. It all boils down to the uncertainty regarding the current FX regime and general macroeconomic factors. Foreign Investors who drive activity in the capital markets are wary of Buhari and Godwin Emefiele's Nigeria at the moment.

You have said it all. The half hearted attempts Emefiele is making to enable Nigeria draw down on the World Bank loan has not worked yet.

....but I think market will still respond, even if it's for short period.
If GTB and Zenith could deliver and pay good interim dividends, market might generally respond positively.
It's just my opinion.

That dividend is already priced in. It can only move price of companies without interim dividend history if they decide to surprise the market. Did you not notice final dividend had marginal impact on prices of most stocks with notable exceptions being those that combined it with bonus?

Serious bears will descend on the banks. Covid seriously affected their earnings (re-low transactions). The dumpings will soon start. As it is, no bank should be judged on the basis of their old performance. These are unusual times! If care is not taken, some may even go under. SAD

Just stay in the good ones with the least issues. Not more than 4 of them. No need to panic at all. It is very well.

Leave NAHCO and every other thing that flies.

Don't reach a conclusion based on first ideas. Think it through and consider other options. Their Q1 was not even particularly bad. Has it occurred to you that there are pent up/backlog passenger and cargo traffic that must be processed as soon as scheduled international flights resume? Even with the lock down light parcels are being processed and cleared at international airports and not at seaports? Resumption of domestic flights are imminent and you can bet international flights will follow not long after.

While the mark down tomorrow will see the price go below N2.00 don't expect it to remain there for long.

You also need to look at shareholding structure which is very distinct from Caverton where i believe you are drawing inferences from. That matters a lot in trying to predict price/trade direction

U really have time for meshpips. wink cheesy grin
Kindly go back to past submissions and u'll see that some of his post u quoted was made when I advised folks to seize the opportunity of the temporal rise in NAHCO and exit at btw N2.90 to N3.
...then, the dude came up to say that his "almighty" VAP sees great VALUE in NAHCO and that folks should hold and accumulate more.
...I just laughed in Swahili !! grin grin grin

Any Jack should have understood that RISK premium will increase and take a bite on REWARD given the near term worry in the sector where NAHCO operates... which should naturally reproduce a sentiment that will favour a drop in price.
I have since advised @ Meshpips to rejig that his VAP tool and refine the model. He also needs to relate it to suite the economic realities within the target company and sector before drawing up inferences.(fundamentals in view)
It should serve him well. ...but as u know; advise when most needed is least headed.

Regards

I don't think he plagiarized your recommendation. He calls it as he sees it.....right or wrong.

From another perspective,

Your post below didn't show the entire picture. Neimeth was consistently doing full bids for days with full bids well above 4M not adding other lower bids.

So if you calculate the total volume if everything was mopped up, the total volume will be way past 60M or more as opposed to what you see.

Facts are facts. No spin is needed. If the whole volume available in a day are mopped up will the stock have made a 10% rise. Are you aware some of the "bids" in a day of full bid are well below the opening price for that day. You theory will not hold.

A smart guy(s) did it. Those who benefited should enjoy. Those with the short end of the stick should count their losses and wait for another day. Sometimes we get lost in trying to complicate a very simple thing. Its the nature of the market and will continue to happen.

We have known each other for about six months now. I proposed to her in March 2020 and kept telling me she was thinking about it.

Just yesterday, she said yes to my proposal and I was so excited. When I met her yesterday evening, she told me Friday (June 26) is her birthday and that, she expects a lot of gifts and mobile money from me. My bowels became full instantly so left to go ease myself.

I have lost interest. Show me a way to outsmart this fraudster of a lady, thanks.

Lol...you guys are funny. Just don't give her anything for her birthday and she will call off the engagement.

10 million would have crashed the price to immediate 10% down, and you would have to trade it the next day to continue. Don’t tell me what you would have done...

The average daily volume was available for everyone to see.

You are correct. One smart Alec could have pulled this off single handedly. Anyway let beneficiaries enjoy. Not sustainable and very dangerous game.
