SAPEDRO: I had been looking forward to Monday morning since Friday evening, after closing very late from class and couldn't find my ATM card. I knew I had to cook to be able to eat during the weekend days, which is one of the things I hate the most.
I was able to pull through the weekend, so I dashed out to the bank as early as 8:am this morning and then went to the cashier who was unusually friendly, smiling asking me a lot of questions at the same time advertising the bank's products while processing my withdrawal in which most of the time her eyes was fixed on me.
I collected my money and then bade her goodbye, immediately I got out of the bank the deed happened, I got an alert! credit alert not debit, what I withdrew had been added to my initial balance, I was in a dilemma, even though I'm still a student, I'm financially ok and the money is a paltry compared to what I have, but this money could have gotten me a crisp Moda cris suit and somebody has given it to me for free out of carelessness or so I thought. It wasn't the easiest of all decisions but I summoned courage and went back to her and explained what had just happened to her, she was so excited and told me it was a mistake on her part, she thanked me and asked for my phone number so we could talk and thank me very well in the evening, I scribbled it down on her notepad and left. I am so happy with myself right now for the courage to return the money. What you did is Noteworthy. Very few NIGERIAN Students would do that.. When we hear these stories, we know we have hope in your generation. |

purplekayc: Dat no 10... midolian: A FIFA medical officer on Tuesday rejected media reports that Iran had broken rules by fielding women footballers, winners of a recent Asian championship, who were actually men.
Days after Iran triumphed at the inaugural Asian Women’s Futsal Championship in Malaysia, reports emerged that eight of the Iranian team were male. In violation of FIFA rules, the players either had yet to complete a sex change or had suffered from sexual development disorders, Britain’s Daily Telegraph reported, citing Iranian sources.
A report by an Iranian state television website said the women players had the physical strength of men and some had “male inclinations”. An official for FIFA rejected the claims of rule breaking, though she indicated some players had previously suffered medical conditions that affected their appearance.
“There are no gender concerns for women’s futsal and football teams,” Dr Zohreh Haratian, the governing body’s appointee in Iran, told Shargh daily.
“No scientific proof exists on these claims,” she said, noting that all the players had been checked. According to the rules, any players participating in overseas matches, should first go through gender verification by FIFA’s medical representative, Haratian explained.
“Only then the player will be permitted to play in Asian or global matches. FIFA will respond to such accusations by foreign media,” she said, naming Saudi Arabia’s Al-Arabia and Britain’s Sky News. The allegations are not new, said Haratian, also the Head of Iran’s Football Medical Assessment and Rehabilitation Center.
“In the past, a few of our female football players were accused of being bisexual,” she continued, adding that in 2010, one player suffering “an inborn disease of adrenal glands” and looked liked a man but was actually a woman.
“When FIFA understood that their problem was inborn, it rejected the claims and issued permits for them to play in matches.”

Sylver247: Fellow Nairalanders, I am the op of the thread on "How have you been surviving without a job?" I have a friend who works with Shell, hes actually a childhood friend we grew up together. We have been apart for long cos he works in Warri while I reside in Lagos. Recently we hooked up again via Facebook and we got talking on phone about life and all. Told him my jobless situation and he got very concerned about my plight. He promised to do something about it cos I was very open with him, didn't hide or form. He requested for my CV which I quickly edited, refined and wired to his email. He said he would submit it to some senior people in Shell.
About a month later he called me and told me something has come up. That there is 6 a year contract job that will be coming up in October and that I need to acquire a particular training (HUET) without which I can't work in the upstream. He said its normally free but the man in charge of recruiting people said since am just a referral, I have to pay for the training. He said the training is 65k which I confirmed and its true.
Now he promised to pay part of the training fee (40k) for me and said I should take care of the remainder. I trust this guy (he is my very good friend from same community) but you know people can change suddenly.
I just need advice from people who know about this kind of stuff, if its possible or not. Its small money (25k) but I wouldn't want to be scammed off the little money am surviving with as am currently managing myself. I don't even have the money now but I can run round and get it. He told me they are waiting for Buhari to announce his cabinet before the project starts and that he will call me.
Please advice me should I give it a shot?
davide470 uboma lalasticlala From what you said so far, there's nothing to be suspicious about. HUET is about 70k like you said depending on the company. 25k is nothing compared to what you want, except you don't trust the guy of course. |

Titilayodeji13: A Twitter user, Chima Okoro, who predicted the attacks in Abuja on Friday on the social networking site, has deactivated his account.
Okoro, with @chimaokoro63 as his username on Twitter, between 8.34 am and 9.12 am on October 1, had repeatedly posted: “I pray for Nigeria: there will be a bomb blast in Abuja &Lagos, Boko Haram is going to attack and kill police_army &_ Navy their evils (sic).”
In the profile picture of the account, which was captured by other users before the user deactivated it, a young man of dark complexion is seen slouching in a room with cream-coloured walls, dressed in a red T-shirt, while holding up a mobile phone in his left hand and smiling to the camera.
Checks on Twitter revealed that other users had started raising the alarm about Okoro’s tweets as early as 10 pm on Friday.
One user, Eduozor Henrie, at 10:47 pm, said, “@Omojuwa @toluogunlesi @ogundamisi, please guys see the timeline of @chimaokoro63… worrying. He tweeted this yesterday.”
Another user, @md_oyereyi at 11:31 pm, said, “The attention of the DSS and other security agencies should be called to this… @Ifyduoz @Omojuwa @toluogunlesi @ogundamisi.”
Debo Oduola, at 11:32 pm, said, “@Ifyduoz @toluogunlesi @Omojuwa @ogundamisi @chimaokoro63 he should be arrested asap,” while Dame Jayla Peperempe, in her reaction (11:03 pm), said, “Hmmm this is all he tweeted yesterday.”
Ogundana Michael (11:16 pm) said, “Who is this that tweeted this? He tweeted this just yesterday!” and Dogoh Orduen @MackDogoh (11:18 pm) expressing disbelief, said, “@MickeySunny @chimaokoro63 you are kidding me!!!”
http://saharareporters.com/2015/10/03/twitter-user-who-predicted-abuja-attacks-deletes-account I don't see why he should be arrested. It was obvious that someday it would happen since BokoHaram were being pushed out of the Sambisa and like we all know, they would like to make people believe they were still around. We also know that we are poor at intelligence gathering when it comes to terrorism. It was just a matter of time. |

Travel › Re: Why Are White People ''expats'' When The Rest Of Us Are ''immigrants''? by CashVessel(m): 1:46pm On Sep 22, 2015 |
pansophist: In the lexicon of human migration there are still hierarchical words, created with the purpose of putting white people above everyone else. One of those remnants is the word “expat”
What is an expat? And who is an expat? According to Wikipedia, “an expatriate (often shortened to expat) is a person temporarily or permanently residing in a country other than that of the person’s upbringing. The word comes from the Latin terms ex (‘out of’) and patria (‘country, fatherland’)”.
Defined that way, you should expect that any person going to work outside of his or her country for a period of time would be an expat, regardless of his skin colour or country. But that is not the case in reality; expat is a term reserved exclusively for western white people going to work abroad.
Africans are immigrants. Arabs are immigrants. Asians are immigrants. However, Europeans are expats because they can’t be at the same level as other ethnicities. They are superior. Immigrants is a term set aside for ‘inferior races’.
Don’t take my word for it. The Wall Street Journal, the leading financial information magazine in the world, has a blog dedicated to the life of expats and recently they featured a story ‘Who is an expat, anyway?’. Here are the main conclusions: “Some arrivals are described as expats; others as immigrants; and some simply as migrants. It depends on social class, country of origin and economic status. It’s strange to hear some people in Hong Kong described as expats, but not others. Anyone with roots in a western country is considered an expat … Filipino domestic helpers are just guests, even if they’ve been here for decades. Mandarin-speaking mainland Chinese are rarely regarded as expats … It’s a double standard woven into official policy.”
The reality is the same in Africa and Europe. Top African professionals going to work in Europe are not considered expats. They are immigrants. Period. “I work for multinational organisations both in the private and public sectors. And being black or coloured doesn’t gain me the term “expat”. I’m a highly qualified immigrant, as they call me, to be politically correct,” says an African migrant worker.
Most white people deny that they enjoy the privileges of a racist system. And why not? But our responsibility is to point out and to deny them these privileges, directly related to an outdated supremacist ideology. If you see those “expats” in Africa, call them immigrants like everyone else. If that hurts their white superiority, they can jump in the air and stay there. The political deconstruction of this outdated worldview must continue.
http://www.theguardian.com/global-development-professionals-network/2015/mar/13/white-people-expats-immigrants-migration?CMP=fb_gu I beg to disagree with your submission. Your definition of expat is correct, but you went on to say that only the Europeans are treated as such. I don't know where you got that from, but that isn't correct. We have BLACK Nigerians who work in Nigeria as expats, because they weren't brought up here, And there are many of them in all IOCs dotting the country. I specifically have a friend who works in Ivory Coast as an expat because he isn't an Ivorian and he is treated as such. Thanks |
Romance › Re: Should I Have Sold My Virginity For N600,000? by CashVessel(m): 10:04pm On Sep 19, 2015 |
Naijasinglegirl: I have been making most of my withdrawals across the counter since my ATM card got expired last month.
Anyway, I breezed into a random Diamond bank yesterday afternoon to withdraw money. Got the withdrawal slip and wrote out a whooping sum of two thousand, five hundred Naira. ( I had to spell it in full so the amount would seem huge)
My hands were stretched out nonchalantly to the female banker and when she raised her face to receive my slip, I recognise her as Seun, my room mate in my 200L.
'Damn!" I cursed. Not when I am appearing this shabby.
I should have added another zero to the N2500 if I knew I was going to bump into Seun. As girls who haven't seen each other in more than two years, there was bound to be some sort of comparison. I heaved a sigh when I remembered my account balance is just N22000.
"Lord have mercy! Naijasinglegirl? Is this yewwww?" she exclaimed, stretching out her short arms in an unsuccessful attempt to hug me over the counter.
She snatched my slip and gazed at me pitifully.
"Babezzz are things that bad? This one N2500 is bringing you to the bank. I could pay you from my pockets you know."
No thanks!
During our days in the university, Seun was a flippant part time student. We often teased her that her type may go as long as ten years without getting a job. I even promised I was going to lend her my NYSC khaki to take Instagram photos in her backyard since part time students were not eligible to participate in NYSC orientation exercise.
Today, the wheels of fortune has spun in her favour.
I had to lie I actually came to the bank to withdraw 15K. I took the slip from her, tore it into two and wrote out another draft of 15K which she paid from my account.
On getting out, I had to board a vehicle to another branch of Diamond Bank to pay in the 12.5K balance sharp sharp! Zero tolerance for extravagance.
Last night, we had a lengthy conversation on phone. She wanted to know why I was unemployed and I kept dismissing her with,
"Don't worry about me jare. I'm working on something."
"Something ke? Lie lie! You think this your good girl attitude would get you anywhere in this country? Don't you know I got my banking job through Chuwkudi, that my sugar daddy. If you didn't dull his friend your story would have been different today!"
Chuwkudi's friend was a stinking oil rich magnate in Portharcourt. I met him through Seun but there was a problem. He was married!
Seun is of the school of thought that there is absolutely nothing wrong in dating a married man so long as both parties share some fringe benefit in return.
Chuwkudi's friend was generous. He was ready to dash me one of Nigeria's oil well if only I was willingly to spread one of my legs to the South South and the other to the North East for him whenever he needed TLC. Each time he came by my hostel, he would squeeze N10000 to N15000 into my palms for dinner.
During my first and unfortunately, my last tour to his company's lodge, he promised me an IT placement in Mobil. I was going to get an already furnished flat at his quarters after graduation. He was going to influence my NYSC posting to an oil company and of course, a well paying job upon completion of NYSC. All these promises in exchange for my hymen...
"Sir, but I told you I cannot...I have not done this before..." I trailed off.
He tore off a page of his cheque book, scribbled something down and handed the paper over to me.
"This would be yours if you spend tonight with me. . . I would make you the envy of your friends." He swore.
Six hundred thousand Naira was written boldly on the cheque.
The highest amount of money that had ever been offered leisurely to someone in my family's genealogy. Honestly, It took a special level of grace to dropped the cheque on his table and walk out that door forever.
Did that singular 'goodgirl' attitude cost me my surest ticket to this good life I crave for? I hope not. Don't despair, you did the right thing by refusing him. Are sure it would just have been sex without any thing diabolical, for that sum? My dear your situation is temporary, you can never be worse than where u are now. The only way you can move is up. Keep ur self clean, you will ever live to bless the day you made that decision. |
Webmasters › Re: How To Stop Hackers From Posting Nude Pics And Videos On Your Facebook Wall by CashVessel(m): 3:41pm On Sep 19, 2015 |
callydon: Hi friends, recently most people have been complaining about some unknown people posting nude pictures and videos on their Facebook timeline/walls and on Facebook groups they belong to. This can be very embarrassing as your friends will start seeing you as a very irresponsible person. So what do you do when your friends start complaining to you that you are sending nude pictures and videos to them and you know within yourself that you ain't the one sending them these pictures and videos. If you have ever been in such a scenario, relax cos today we're going to tell you how to stop those pictures from your wall. >>> The first and MOST important thing to do when your friends tell you that someone is sending them nude pics/videos using your account is to change your Facebook password. These hackers might have accessed your account through a "phishing" link (we'll talk about this later), so what you need to do is to reset your password immediately. To see the best way to choose a very strong password click here. So now you've changed your Facebook password, but wait! Some of your friends are still complaining that they're still getting the nude pics from your Facebook account, not to worry here's the next step to take. >>> If after changing your password and this issue continues, that means you must have given permission to some malicious apps to post on your behalf on your Facebook Wall. SO WHAT DO YOU DO It's quite easy, just go to your Facebook settings, click on "Apps" from there you'll the list of apps on that have access to your Facebook account, click on any one of them you suspect and delete it. Or to be on the safer side, just delete ALL the apps you see their and then you can now re-add ONLY the apps you trust. After doing these, the pics/ videos will stop appearing on your timeline cos the app posting it have been deleted. So there you have it, do you have any question NOT covered by this post, feel free to ask your questions using the comments box below. PS: As a general rule, it's advisable to be very careful about what you click on while surfing the internet and Facebook shouldn't be an exception. . . nlfan: Dear NLers
I am in a no sex relationship with this amazing young man, he is cool and has everything I wanted in a man.
Apart from him, have always been in a no sex relationship, the last man I dated, who died in the ill fated Dana Air crash was also in a no sex relationship with me but he was more vibrant emotionally, like he will hug me tight, hold me and look into my eyes, roll his hands over me and kisses me too and sometimes I notice he will be so turn on, just that we have decided we want to wait and sometimes he will say baby i'm so turn on but I can handle it.
Now the issue I have with this one I am dating now is, he will not do any of that, all he does is look at me passionately, and if he must touch me, he will just hold my hands and play with my fingers, he can stare at me the whole day and gist with me, but I have never seen him at the point where he was turn on, whether in his face or actions, he is just there.
I know he is God fearing and can afford not to be turn on, but I am so scared, have slept in his house before, we were just like blood siblings, cook together eat and off he went to his room, no emotions or maybe a kiss to say good night and stuff, it was so neutral I feared he might not like sex or romance at all or maybe he is not all right.
Sometimes I want to bring up gist like, how far did you go with your ex, what is the most naughty thing you have done in a relationship or for love, and he will go like... I came back from work, I didn't have a car then, so I trek all the way to her house to cook for her.
And I ask, what's your most memorable sex experience, and he replied baby good night, this is not you so don't bring up the fake self, you've been talking too much to your girl friends lately I guess.
How do I get to know all these about him, have starved myself enough of sex to please God, and to be a good girl my mother asked me to be and cannot "CANNOT" and will not be able to stand a slow or bad sex experiences in marriage, the thought of this is driving me crazy You beginning to sound like you want the sex yourself. Why would you want him to be turned on at all. It makes no sense if you're not gonna allow him shine the Congo, so I guess he's doing the right thing. |
