Here are photos from the Cenotaph of the 35 Battalion of the Nigerian Army in Katsina state to commemorate the year 2017 United Nations arms destruction day. The arms and ammunition which were recovered from cattle rustlers and other criminal elements in the state - are set to be destroyed in the presence of the state governor Masari and other dignitaries.

The former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi stated that his biggest challenge as governor was the battle he fought trying to change the mindset of his people of Anambra. Speaking while addressing students of St. Michael's Model Comprehensive Secondary School, Nimo, on Friday , Mr. Obi explained how tough it was trying to make his Executive Council and all that worked with him to understand the concept of accountability and responsibility in governance.

Mr. Obi, who expressed happiness that the battle he fought to return school to missions has been yielding fruits in the improvement in infrastructure and general performance thanked the Church for there efforts. He called on the wealthy to support the Church to make the society a better place

"When I expressed the intention to return schools to missions at a State Executive Council meeting only three out of 30 members supported me. Even Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) threatened to go on strike if I tried that and actually did. But I knew I was right and insisted until I had my way. Today I am so happy to see the transformation in this school since I took the bold but unpopular decision."

In his remarks, the manager of the school, Rev. Fr. Francis Obi Okoye thanked Mr. Obi for coming. He said Anambra people would ever remain grateful to him for his disposition towards education which has continued even after he left office.

The Nigeria Professional Football League clash between Remo Stars and Ifeanyi Ubah which was slated for Sunday, July 9, was called off. The Remo Stars Football Club players were struck by food poisoning prior to the top-flight match against the Anambra Warriors with 13 players hospitalized.

This reportedly happened on the eve of Sunday’s Week 28 NPFL tie with Ifeanyi Ubah.

At that moment, 13 first-team Remo Stars players, including their leading scorer, Victor Mbaoma, Ekene Awazie and Salefu Ochowechi as well as the goalkeeper trainer and media officer are violently sick with food poisoning.

It was gathered that the players began complaining of stomach pain and tiredness, after after their dinner which was a meal of semovita and Egusi.

Affected players were rushed down to Ikenne health center as team doctor Mr James is currently treating some players ensuring they get fluids in other not to suffer from dehydration while others are been monitored to ensure they recover from this health casualty.

Meanwhile, the League Management Company have subsequently announced the indefinite postponement of the match following complaints from the home team.

This just highlights one of the flaws in our security system. Some members of of Africa a.k.a black axxe were seen walking freely on the road in broad daylight with their guns. According to a social media user who lives in Benin, Edo state - this happened during the funeral procession of one of their members.

The cult members carried out their procession without any disturbance as people made way for them.

A woman has left her family and friends in sorrow after being knocked down while attending church meeting in Aba area of Abia state on Thursday. According to multiple reports, the accident was caused by an over-speeding river who hit the woman on the road after she was reportedly sent to buy a bag of pure water for the meeting . She met her untimely end while returning from the errand. May her soul rest in peace.

Isolo area of Lagos state was brought to a standstill today at Sheikh Mustapha Sanusi Zuglool's funeral. Sheikh Mustapha Zuglool was a reputable historian in his own class. He was a student of the great scholar Sheikh Abdullah Adam Al Iloriرحمه الله تعالى .

Sheikh was born on 18 August 1937. He received his early education and training under the tutelage of his father Mohammed Sanusi.

At the age of 18, he enrolled at the Center for Arabic and Islamic Education popularly referred to as Markaz in Agege, Lagos, Nigeria under the patronage of the late Sheikh Adam Abdullah Al-ilori رحمه الله.

He travelled to Lebanon to further his studies. He visited some of the Islamic countries, including Egypt, Syria, Jerusalem, Jordan, Saudi Arabia in 1960s. He was granted a diplomatic leave in 1967.

In 1970, the late Sheikh founded the Daarul Dawah Wal Irshad in Mushin, Lagos and in 1971, he moved to his new headquarters in Isolo.

He was the Director, Principal, Teacher at the Institute, also an expert on tafsir (Quranic exegesis), a historian per excellent, Preacher of repute well respected in the circle of Islamic and Arabic Scholars in the country.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have commenced investigation of nine suspected oil thieves, who were arrested by the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base Bonny, Rivers State and handed over to the Commission for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The suspected illegal oil bunkerers are being quizzed in the Port Harcourt's zonal office of the EFCC. The nine crew members onboard the vessel (MT Lady Swithin) are: Engineer Tony Edumesaro, Olu Gbenga Obebe, Lucky Oshogbon, Erete Moses, Stephen Olu Peters, Raphael Olu Peters, Gillis Ibinabo, Ikechi Nwanyanwu and Ernest Iyalla.

They were handed over to the EFCC by the Commanding Officer, FOB Bonny, Captain S.W. Olorundare. While handing over the suspects and the vessel to the EFCC, Olorundare said that the Nigerian Navy Ship OLOGBO, while on patrol on January 13, 2017, arrested MT LADY SWITHIN along Calabar offshore, conveying about 300,000 litres of products, suspected to be Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

The suspects were also held on suspicion of illegal bunkering of petroleum product without license.

After waiting for 17 years, a Nigerian lady identified as Juliet Chinwe Caren-Oriaku, has finally become a naturalized American citizen. Her American citizenship was confirmed following a naturalization ceremony at George Washington’s Mount Vernon home, Virginia on Tuesday, July 4 (American Independence day).


According to Simon Ateba, Mrs. Caren-Oriaku and another Nigerian whose first name is Kayode, was among 100 foreign nationals from over 40 countries. including Ghana, DRC, Canada and Great Britain, who became naturalized Americans in Virginia on Tuesday.

Nationwide, about 15, 000 foreign nationals received their American citizenship on July 4, 2017 in over 60 ceremonies.

A pastor didn't anticipate what he got after he was nearly beaten up by a madman he was trying to deliver on the road by force. In a video trending on social media, the unnamed pastor could be seen forcefully trying to deliver the madman on the road as onlooker watched hilariously.


The drama got more intense when the madman took another route only for the pastor to accost and wrestle him to the floor shouting 'blood of Jesus' at him.
