2elliot:Excuse me it is the same mistake they are making with the Obidient movement. Even captain Gbuli admitted with the benefit of hindsight that he wouldn’t have staged the coup. There is nothing more dangerous than young people who think they know it all. I didn’t miss the point. It is irrelevant because the coup failed. I think you missed that point. If you stage a coup and you fail, the consequence is death, no one cares about your intention. The consequence of the coup failure in this case was the handing over to Igbo centric section of the country even though it was never their intention and it was exactly what they were fighting against. But nobody cares about your intention. People only remember the effects, results and consequences. I repeat in case you missed it that I don’t believe it was an Ibo coup but the consequence of it was to hand over to Igbo centric leadership. I think you miss that point. |
DaddyCoool:Like I said your major problem is you lack English comprehension. Saying a section of a city is unlivable is not the same as saying that city is unlivable. Again a man read but does not comprehend yet he calls himself educated! I specifically listed the areas of those cities but you’ve never left your village so what would you know? Go to school and develop your English comprehension and stop derailing this thread! |
DaddyCoool:Clap for yourself. The thread is about Lagos nightlife. You can create a seperate thread about livability and discuss with yourself instead of the displaying typical new era Nigerian’s poor English comprehension by detailing the thread . Good. Day! |
kettykin:I actually believe the coup was not an Ibo coup as such. I sincerely beleive they were a bunch of overzealous immature, deluded misguided but sincere young men who saw themselves as patriots. The problem is that it failed and as a result of its failure, all we witnessed was the unintended effects. I also believe there has always existed and still exist a band of Ibo expansionists whose views are represented by the Dady Onyeama declaration at the Ibo conference and unfortunately for the coup plotters, they are the ones who took over after the failed coup and started to act in an Ibo centric manner for instance by not trying their coup plotting kinsmen and enacting laws that suggested an Ibo supremacy/conquering agenda. 1: Whether by commission or by omission, the major actors in the coup were Ibos. 2: whether by commission of by omission the major causalities were non Ibos. 3: whether by commission or omission those who got away were the Ibos. Not only were Ibo politicians spared but the Ibo coup plotters were not tried. 4: if my brother kills your brother and I do not offer my apologies for or distance myself from his behavior then it is natural for you to conclude he had my approval. 5: the nature of some of the deaths/murders are unconscionable. 6: the fact that Ibos have never dissociated themselves from the coup but more importantly apologized and also carry on today like a people intent on conquering others only serves to perpetuate the idea that it was an Ibo coup. 7: I draw parallels with the Obidient movement, where you have probably sincere naive young non Ibos who genuinely think Obi will bring the change they desire but haven’t thought it through. IMHO if they succeed they will unleash probably the worst regime in Nigerias history because the real agenda of the Obidient movement will take ove but they will be blamed. The only difference between the Obidient movement and the coup plotters is 1) the coup plotters were in the army and controlled weapons and 2) the failure of the 1966 coup brought negative consequences while the failure of the Obidients is a blessing. Like I said, with what I know now. I have 98% certainty it was not an Ibo coup. It was just a series of unfortunate coincidences by young revolutionaries and Yorubas at the time looked down on joining the army, so naturally there would be more Ibos involved. It was not who staged the coup that continues to be the problem but the actions thereafter. |
DaddyCoool:Oga please, I know Nairaland is a place for the brain dead but please let us try and discuss matters in a manner that reflects we have benefitted from some level of education. A man is not properly educated if he cannot reason, analyze, seperate issues and arrive at rational dispassionate conclusions based on the parameters and information presented before him. Otherwise he only parades a certificate that shows his ability to remember information on a given test day. The article is about Lagos’ nightlife. Does Lagos have a vibrant nightlife? The answer is yes. You brought in a totally irrelevant survey about Lagos’ livability. Does Lagos score low on Livability? The answer is yes. Can both coexist? The answer is yes. The article did not say Lagos is a livable city, it said it has a vibrant nightlife!. Don’t be a victim of poor English comprehension, like those who forge degree certificates they don’t need, when the law says minimum qualification is school Leaving certificate which they have or forge school certificates, when they have a degree. Can we move on? |
DaddyCoool:Nightlife and living conditions are 2 different things. In fact the places with the best nightlife all over the world are often not the best places to live. For instance soho in London is a terrible place to live, broadway or Harlem are not the best place to live in Newyork, the ripperbhan is not the best place to live in Hamburg etc etc. So saying Lagos is one of the best nightlife cities is not the same as saying it is a great place to live. Everyone in Lagos knows it isn’t but that is not the subject. Generally speaking the more vibrant the nightlife, the more unlivable the area comparatively. Vibrant Nightlife comes with crime, drugs, robberies, traffic, noise, pollution, street prostitutes etc. so it goes without saying that the more vibrant the nightlife of an area or a city the more unpleasant it is to live. There is nothing inconsistent with Lagos ranking high on nightlife and low on livability…..infact that is the general expectation. Learn to stick to the issue….the article did not claim Lagos is a nice place to live. |
Zionmdde:Your responses are consistent with the responses of an uneducated man, a man of low intellect. An agbero, an okada rider, a labourer etc. With every post you continue to prove my point about the quality of your education. Run along and deliver your POS proceeds for the day to your master. Pos and recharge card is where your “education” can take you. |
Zionmdde:The reason why you are selling recharge cards and POS despite your degree is because your education is worthless. Those who are properly educated can spot a -poorly educated person just from your CV. That’s why you are rejected everywhere you apply for jobs. A poorly educated person will expose himself without even knowing it. You cannot hide bad education it follows you everywhere like a bad odour. Anyone with a good education knows that in a deregulated environment govt does not fix prices. The minute you make such a comment, you expose yourself and that’s the end of your opportunities. The only difference is I pointed it out to you while others wouldn’t and you would be none the wiser why your life is the miserable life it is. |
Zionmdde:It is not “you are an evidence”. The correct way to say it is “you are evidence”. Again symptom of bad education. Like I said you would have been better off learning a trade like farming or carpentry. You wouldn’t be on the streets with POS selling money despite your degree. At least you wouldn’t be deluded into thinking you are educated or to think you are qualified to comment on matters way beyond your comprehension or station in life. Your parents sent you to school and you can’t get a job and when you talk you embarrass your so called education. They did you a great disservice sending you to school. If you hadn’t gone to school you would be no worse than you are now. |
Zionmdde:like i said, a certificate, especially from Nigeria's decayed educational system is not evidence you are properly educated as you once again prove. There is a reason parents who know the value of good education move mountains to send their children abroad.....its not because they are all wealthy...its so their children dont end up like you. if your parents knew the value of good education and recognized what good education is, they wont have sent you to the schools they sent you to. They should not have bothered and your life would have amounted to a lot more if they had sent you to learn a skill instead. |
Zionmdde:The meaning of what I posted is you are better off not being “educated”. That you went to school and post like a farmer who never went to school shows that certificate does not equal education. Many non educated people are more intelligent than what you posted. An “educated” man who says the government has control of prices in a deregulated environment clearly is not educated. There is a difference between educated and well educated. If you went to school and were taught the world is flat, you may call yourself educated but you are uneducated or at best poorly educated. There are certain things that do not come out of the mouth of a properly educated man. One of which is that the government can fix prices in a deregulated environment. |
Zionmdde:Go to your parents and tell them they wasted their money on your education. |
Zionmdde:It is a deregulated market. Who are the “they” you speak of because the govt no longer has any control of the price of petrol. Just as it has no control over the price of tomatoes or yams. |
rinzaugustine:Comments like this make me realize the problem with the Ibos is they lack credible leadership. That’s why they fall behind any charlatan who steps up in their name. The fact that the Ibos have descended from Azikwe, Onyeama, Okpara to the likes of Kanu, Ekpa and now Obi is a reflection of the failure of the Ibo elites…..shame on them! To the Ibo professionals and the elite, your people are crying out for credible leadership. Your failure to step up and pick up the mantle is doing damage to the Ibos in the eyes of every other tribe. No will see a people led by Kanu, Ekpa and Obi and take them seriously and that ultimately affects the Ibo professionals and elites! Ibos are now viewed in the image of Kanu, Ekpa and Obi. |
Noblechykk:If not that many non ibos are gullible and have been gaslighted, a man like Obi will not have a voice. The same ibos who critici Obi as governor and celebrated his exit are the ones selling him as a messiah and a beacon of purity and sanctimony. The wise know to the ibos, Obi is all about ibo presidency. The foolishness resides with the non ibos whose brains have been manipulated into promoting an agenda that is manipulative and not in their interest.. |
Alliswell248:If you take a look at her profile picture you will realize the calibre of lowlifes one interacts with on Nairaland! |
EmperorCaesar:I don’t think anyone can put it any better! 8 days into the new year and I doubt anyone will come up with a better quote in 2025! |
Maxymilliano:Na IPOB people so very believable…..they know no other way. |
Wainey:So your role in life as a man is to protect and provide for another man’s bloodline. For this privilege of maintaining another man’s bloodline, your reward is you will never be her priority and you are dispensable. If the father of her children is dispensable, who are you? Don’t forget every divorce or separation started with “I love you”. That’s all! Single mothers are meant to be side chics….never get it twisted! Remember this for the rest of your days: no divorcee, single mother or cheating spouse will ever tell you it’s her fault or it is because she is wayward or has some character defect she is a single mother, she is a divorcee or she is cheating. She has to come at you with a sob story or else how will you look at her. So forget this story of tribalism…..it didn’t stop having 3 kids with him. Remember the father of her 3 children rejected her. |
Earthquakes:The matter is very simple. He does not own the water front land. He admitted he tried to buy it from the federal govt but was rejected. That alone is proof, he knows the land does not belong to him. Now this is the issue, as you rightly pointed out no one would lend you such sums without doing their due diligence. Therefore a man with a brain can clearly see that his business model was not based on the beach. His business model was profitable without the beach but obviously more profitable with the beach. On this basis he was able to obtain his loans. He is simply trying to be too clever by halves. What compensation is he crying out for when he built recreational facilities on land that did not belong to him? Did he pay the government for the use of their land for free for many years? When he tells you he invested millions in the resort, the money is in the high rise buildings, the hotels, the events center etc. those are on the land on which he holds proper documents and no one has taken away from him. I am almost certain that his investment in the beach side (which never belonged to him) is less than $1m if that and I am sure he has recouped his money. |
kettykin:Any relocation from Lagos is welcome. Lagos is overcrowded and the quality of life is terrible. More companies should be encouraged to relocated to develop other areas of the country. The new tax bill will help in this regard. |
LibertyRep:Atiku was only protecting himself and looking out for his own interests……as usual! |
meine:Because after the 1966 counter coup, when they exacted their revenge and wanted to seperate from Nigeria, the British advised them that can you not see what Ironsi has done for you with the unification decree? The country now belongs to you. Since then they have moved from a region that was afraid to be part of Nigeria to a region that feels it is it’s right to rule Nigeria. |
You start a thread praying for Peter Obi to be president of Nigeria. Within the 1st 10 responses, simply because someone says he will never be president without mentioning Ibos, Biafra or IPOB, you are already abusing other tribes, talking about Secession and Biafra. We are not stupid. This is why Obi or any Biafra or IPOB sympathizer will never be a president of Nigeria. He can go an live in the gutters or IDP camps and carry his photographers along, understand this truth: Peter Obi is not the Ibo man that will be President of Nigeria! I have said this many times, Peter Obi is unelectable, the quicker you turn your backs on Obi and find a more acceptable Ibo candidate, the quicker you start the journey to an Ibo presidency. You have not started the journey, Obi is just wasting your time and efforts. When you find the man you will have to start again from scratch. |
You have no political base yet you want to be president. You say no to Godfatherism yet you want a Godfather to endorse you. The man refused to endorse anybody, let the best man win, 2 years after you are still bitter. As if you worked to be VP in the 1st place, as if you could even win your ward in the elections, as if he didn’t have to transfer his PU away from VGC after losing woefully in 2019! |
unbiasedTruth:NNPC is selling for N935, the station next to it is selling for N1070. Go and drill your own crude, refine it and sell for N180! The market has been opened to all! Eeediots! |
unbiasedTruth:I’m sure you also think the 97% debt service to Revenue ratio he inherited is better than the 63% now. |
If they want to be acknowledged by the governor then they should not have behaved they way they did. The governor’s obligation is to the late governor not his family. Ondo people did not elect Jide or his mother. If they want to be acknowledged then they shouldn’t disrespect the governor. |
Susily:You want your children to come from a broken home? Don’t be daft! |
Abeg leave ElRufai alone o! I don’t know what happened between ElRufai and Tinubu but he would not be president today without ElRufai. Apart from that he is also a man whose intellect and progressive credentials I respect. I will never join anyone in speaking against Mallam. Without him we would have Lawan or Atiku as president. Reno is an intelligent man who is available for anywhere belle face! |
aylipple:Sometimes I wonder if Tinubu cares about a second term and I have said as such on this platform. What I do know is if Tinubu wants a second term he will get his second term. If he is planning for just one term, he will make the moves such that his legacy will be perfected in his 1st term and you can’t undo it. For instance, no one (despite what they preach today) is coming to reintroduce forex and fuel subsidies. If he succeeds with the tax laws no one is going to scrap it, no one is going to scrap state police or lG autonomy if they are made laws. |
