The only party that can give Obi it’s presidential ticket is LP….that’s why his stooges remain as a backup. The people who make up ADC are not going through all of this wahala to install him as their candidate or use their resources to support him as a presidential candidate. They would rather die. I repeat, they would rather die! The people who make up ADC have nothing but contempt for Obi. A man like Atiku will not support a man who’s decision to leave PDP cost him his life long dream to become president. All that talk of we will support whoever wins the primary is cunny man talk from both Obi and the other side of ADC.

Shame on RCCG!
She is stating a matter of fact.

Christians have swallowed the idea of one man one wife despite there being no such thing in the Bible. One man one wife is one of those cultural aspects of. The Europeans we swallowed. Just like white wedding. It’s a European cultural thing not Biblical.

Muslims marry more than 1 wife and have more children than Christians. You are more likely to see a christian woman die without children than a Muslim woman.

Even if (though not conceding) it is not the case now, it is an inevitable fact of our future.

Ibos will overwhelm Yorubas in the SW and Muslims will constitute the majority of our population if not already. These are demographic inevitabilities.

Politics › Re: Tinubu Winning South East With A Landslide by casualobserver:
Tinubu cannot win in the SE and neither he, the APC or his promoters in the SE expect him to win.

His realistic aim is to get more votes than the last time. if he can get 15%, he would have done very well.

every vote you capture from your opponent increases your margin by 2 votes. what that means is if i convert 1 of your voters you need to find 2 new votes just to make up for it. thats the aim in the SE.....not to win.

Example: if the last result was 400k to 40K , you had 90% victory with a difference of 360K. If i manage to convert just 50k of your voters to join me, the new result is 350K v 90K, your lead has been reduced to 260k. That 100K gain by converting just 50K voters may end up being the difference between victory and failure.

PS: people also need to know that it is not your absolute votes that makes you president. it is the combination of the difference in votes between you and your opponents in all the states that determines who wins. So if you can cut your opponents margin of victory from 360k to 260K as in this example, you are reducing the difference he brings to the total and reducing his chances of victory.

Also, if you get 1m votes in a state and your opponent gets 950K all you have gained from that state is 50K votes. your 1m votes count for nothing, what matters is the 50K.

in the same vein, you win a state 400k to 350K, well done, clap for yourself but all you have added is 50K votes...that state has done nothing for you, if in another state your opponent gets for example 400k votes and you only get 30k. Your 50K net votes does not even touch his 370k margin in the state he won. So people should stop masturbating over winning states, it's not winning or losing that matters but by how much. You can win in 20 states by small margins of 10-20k and your opponent wipes away your entire lead in just 1 state where he is totally dominant and gets 500k votes to your 50k. 450k margin of victory in one state wipes out 20k margin in 20 states! Also i have said it here before, you can win a presidential election in a 3 horse race without winning any state.

I know it should be 3k pounds per month but this 25k is below 3k pounds per month
1) your salary for minimum wage work (care workers, warehouse etc) is between £20-30K a year before tax

2) 90-95%

3) the only way to increase your wages is to increase the number of hours you work. However, the Uk is not like Nigeria where they pay you and you sit down idle. They will get every single £ out of you and your body and mental health will feel it plus there is only a certain number of hours you can do in a week. you probably need to work 6 days a week 12 hrs a day to make £35K before tax and you will definitely burn out.

imagine selling your house, car etc, sometimes the cost of your relocating cost you tens of thousands of pounds.....you said Nigeria was hard but somehow you managed to find that money in Nigeria. You get to London and you find out its not what was sold to you but the worst thing is you are living from hand to mouth and you dont have the means to raise the funds to return home.

thats why they dont come back despite the misery.

you probably need a salary of about £70k to be comfortable and able to save £10k a year with discipline. The typical jobs available to 95% of Nigerian japas pay roughly 1/3rd of that. They are minimum wage jobs that leave you with nothing at the end of the month. The reason those jobs are available is because a citizen on welfare can earn the same by not working and without the stress associated with such jobs. A citizen would rather stay at home than work for that money but you hear 'big" numbers like £25k p.a and you think the citizens are fools for rejecting those jobs? It's not about how much you earn but how much is left. At £25kp.a, after rent, council tax, gas, electricity, travel card, food, etc you would have done well if you are not owing someone talk less having anything left.

An opposition snatched defeat from the jaws of victory because they put their personal ambitions and greed above the collective. They split up and split the votes of 14m Nigerians frustrated against the abuhari regime to victory for an underdog whose party the APC did everything to make him lose.

Instead of learning from their mistakes they gaslighted and continue to gaslight their gullible supporters that the problem was our electoral system, the judiciary, the innocent dog just chasing rats and anyone and anybody that can be blamed but themselves. They discredited every progress we had made in our electoral system to mask their incompetence and shame. APC lost 7m votes from 2019 to 2023, they had no business winning. PDP to whom Obi, Atiku and Kwakwanso belonged collectively gained 4m votes in 2023 compared to 2019. The system worked, the electoral system worked, INEC worked, the judiciary worked, the opposition fumbled and put the blame on every one else but themselves discrediting anything that moves. Unfortunately their supporters are gullible and believe them. The irony is their supporters continuing to believe their lies will. Or force them to do the right thing and the same spirit that caused them to fail in 2023 will ensure their failure in 2027. You can’t fix a problem when you have not acknowledged your role in the problem. So if you are an opposition supporter continue to join them in discrediting our institutions instead of putting their feet to the fire.

Even as they continue to blame everyone but themselves, they are still on the path of ego and personal ambition that led to their failure in 2023. This time the former “underdog” is now in power, his party is united and he has 29/37 sub national budgets at his disposal but they are still engaging in the same behavior of 2023.

God help us when they lose…I fear they will set the country ablaze.

Our universities are producing more graduates than the economy can absorb. That is what is true. It is not true that the average Nigerian MBBS, LLB, BSc etc are not worth the paper they are written on.
Everybody is trying to go abroad and if you had a first class, then you will probably go on scholarship. That is the position but there are still many bright people with good grade in the country and there are many with average grade that left.
Among the people I went to university with, the most successful are based in the country

I see you are a grammar Nazi but I did not use the word excel at all
. It’s not about the quantity of graduates you are producing, it’s about the quality. I would say at least 50% of Nigerian graduates are glorified school certificate holders. Many of them are not even suitable for clerical work that ordinarily only require o levels.

You can’t be better than the institutions and environment that produces you. Someone who wasn’t brought up in an environment of high standards doesn’t know he isn’t up to standard. It is those who have experienced or trained to higher standards that know such a person is not up to standard.

Language is a basic pillar of education and communication. You get that foundation wrong as most Nigerians have due to the decay is basic education over the decades, a lot of things are going to be wrong no matter how intelligent you are. You will not be able to communicate effectively. I will request something and you will produce something else because you don’t understand what is being asked.

A good example is your use of the word excel. Look, in the UK, when they say couple it means 2 and only 2. Go there and say to a Brit “couple” when you mean a few, or think he means “few” when he says “in a couple of minutes” or go and pack all your certificates when all they asked was the minimum required, you will struggle and wonder why you are having problems at work. The fact that the typical Nigerian graduate has a poor grasp of English makes him a challenge to work with even here in Nigeria so he has to be extremely intelligent or proficient to make up for his defects
and the stress of dealing with him/her.

You ask the typical Nigerian graduate to type an external communication to a client for example and you have proof read it before sending because you can’t trust his grammar. Having to correct deficiencies that should have been corrected in primary or secondary school is stress employers don’t need that lead to productivity losses but you have to deal with with the typical Nigerian graduate. Again I feel I need to point out that “typical” does not mean there aren’t exceptions……a sentence I didn’t have to include if I was confident I was dealing with people who can read and understand.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Top 30 Countries By Electricity Production Capacity by casualobserver:

You are bringing up another issue entirely again. From one issue to the other. I was pointing out to you that you are wrong that Nigerian professionals are poorly trained because people who have average degrees here go abroad to excel in their post graduate. It was never about if the best people travel out. Yes people with the best grade tend to travel out but some of my friends that had second class upper in oau engineering remained in the country as a lecturer and he is doing well. There are others in the private sector. There are many others with second lower. Some of those who travelled can still come back as they are not necessarily more successful than those here . You can't say people that travelled are the brightest. That is just an opinion. What is certain is that they are not more successful
The average Nigerian graduate today has a degree not worth the paper it is printed on. A few exceptions do not nullify the rule. Again that the best go abroad and do well does is not an indicator that every graduate left in Nigeria is sound. Again like I said it is the best that tend to migrate and it is not every one that excels. You hear a few stories and you say excel. How many are actually excelling? Excel means to stand out! Not to say Nigerians abroad are not doing well but you are using the word “excel” very loosely here!

Perhaps you need a quick check of the definition of excel. Capable, up to the task, is not excelling. Who are these Nigerians excelling? They are less than 0.1% of the Nigerians abroad. Not to say they are not capable or intelligent but don’t overdo it.

Again this is another example of our poor standards in English. Important because English is our language of communication and if you don’t fully understand the meaning of the words you use, it leads to miscommunication. Because it is his natural language, even an uneducated English man will not use the word “excel” to describe what you meant. I can also assure you that those educated when the standard of education in Nigeria was at par with the world wouldn’t either.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Top 30 Countries By Electricity Production Capacity by casualobserver:
lawani:
From artisans are not good enough, you are now saying professionals are not well trained? So Nigerian doctors, engineers and etc do not do well when they go abroad?
It’s simple English. The vast majority of our best professional brains who actually practice their profession do so abroad. The majority of the top students of my generation particularly the technical subjects like engineering and medicine left after graduation, many of them are still abroad. Those who stayed behind were mostly the mediocre a the dull ones. The vast majority of the few who stayed went into the private sector multinationals like the shell, schlumberger etc of which many were further transferred to other countries and remained there. Some went into one business or another often unrelated to their profession. Nigeria turned our brightest into foreign immigrants or hustlers at home.

I remember some years ago when some of us went through the list of those who studied medicine……none of them were in Nigeria. We could not mention 1. With all sense of modesty I was one of the brightest of my generation, I only came back in my 40s after 2 decades abroad. I know my classmates who now occupy certain positions especially in the civil service…they were the dullest! They mainly got those jobs because people like us left the country. They are our classmates, we know them.

I k is the hot students and graduates of my generation. It’s only in subjects like law economics banking etc that you will see they remained in Nigeria or returned quickly after just a few years abroad. Those in technical subjects or sciences left and most did not return. A severe brain drain! So when you hear Nigerians doing things abroad it is because we exported our best in those subjects.

Please read line by line because I know many of you have a problem with English.

Ofunaofu:
This should be a complete non-issue, but here we are in 2026, watching some supposedly reasonable adults argue against the electronic transmission of election results from polling units… in this era.

We literally did this in 2023. The then INEC chairman, Yakubu, promised that election results would be uploaded in real time. When INEC’s system “glitched,” with no explanation, and the matter went to court, the court simply ruled that electronic transmission of results was not mandatory under the Electoral Act.

Now people want it made mandatory, especially during collation, so votes won’t be stolen, and suddenly there’s resistance.

So… why exactly?
Again I stress we have a population of so called western educated people who do not understand English.

You are saying you want electronic transmission of results…did anyone take it away from you?

All these people making noise, 95% of them cannot articulate what it is they are asking for. 95% don’t actually know what the issue is.

Senate did not remove electronic transmission of results and no one is suggesting the removal of electronic transmission of results. Whether called transfer or transmission is merely semantics. If they call it transmission and don’t say it must the in real time, it’s still the same as the transfer in the 2022 law.

So this statement is a statement by a bunch of people who lack understanding of the issues.

The issues are

1: some are saying the existing electronic transmission (which has not been removed) should be in real time. These Northern Coalition people said nothing about real time….perhaps they don’t understand the issues.
2: some think electronic transmission means electronic collation….that is not possible when your voting is manual. The computer cannot read the scanned result sheets and collate.
3: there are those who think this electronic transmission means electronic voting
4: then there are those who don’t understand that irev is merely a viewing portal and all collation is done manually.

These are the people that will read a law that say he minimum requirements is school leaving certificate and will start submitting forged masters degrees…. We have an English comprehension epidemic!

A significant cause of most of the major issues that flare up of recent are down to poor English comprehension and as such a failure to understand the issues.

This government’s communication apparatus is also very very poor.

It's funny someone with your warped views is talking about critical thinking, I asked you a very simple question but you avoided it, how many artisans from those countries have you engaged personally to conclude that they're better than Nigerians ?
.

I pointed out the flaw in your argument. But you clearly are another example of those Nigerians who speak English but don’t understand what they read please read again and stop wasting my time.

I didn’t answer your question because some questions don’t need answers. Anyone who lives in Nigeria who has engaged a tailor, cook, tiler, construction worker, spray painter, panel beater etc knows that when it comes to matters that require attention to detail knows that you will get a better quality job from foreign artisans than the typical Nigerian counterpart.

What that means because I know you may have comprehension problems is that if you take a random artisan from say Benin and a random Nigerian Artisan here in Nigeria you are likely to get better quality of work from the foreigner. I have already explained why this is….perhaps you need to read the last post again.

For the sake of your inadequate understanding of English, let me restate it like you are a primary school student.

You are more likely to be killed or misdiagnosed by a Nigerian doctor in Nigeria…we who live here know this. but the average Nigerian doctor abroad is very competent. Same principle. The best tend to migrate if the local economy cannot adequately remunerate them. So having good Nigerian doctors abroad does not equate to Nigeria having good doctors back home, similarly having good foreign artisans in Nigeria does mean (and neither did I say or imply) that all those left in their countries are good. I simply said the ones here are far better than the typical Nigerian artisans here. We benefit from their best who move here just as the Uk and US benefit from our best doctors moving there.

Again you will do well to improve your comprehension skills….again part of the skills problem I speak about…….graduates who don’t understand English. Having power does not make up for graduates who cannot understand simple English. It is when you try to industrialize that you will realize we have been churning our glorified secondary school students with worthless degrees.

Forget artisans, read Nairaland everyday and one weeps!

I have been to Lome, Accra, Cotonou and Abidjan, for every one good painter in Togo there are 20 good painters in Nigeria.

There are Nigerians holding top positions in Europe anf North America, can you say the same for Togolese or Ivorians ?
Your argument is devoid of critical thinking. One in every 3 blacks on Earth is a Nigerian, so Nigerians will always outnumber any other African nation outside Africa. The application of basic common sense will tell you that. The most educated Nigerians are the ones who emigrate to western countries. This and the fact that we outnumber all other black countries is the reason we top the charts as the most skilled abroad. That is not the reality back home. Anyone for instance looks at the stat that says Nigerians are the most educated migrant groupin the USA would be shocked to get here and discover that the majority of Nigerians are uneducated or to discover how poorly educated the so called educated Nigerian is back home. Similarly the most skilled African artisans migrate to Nigeria for better opportunities does not mean the artisans to be found in these countries are skilled. That was poor reasoning on your part. The reason these African artisans come and thrive here, is because the majority of Nigerian artisans are poor and there is a dearth of quality artisans and blue collar workers in Nigeria whether skilled construction workers, tailors or cooks . If the opportunities didn’t exist there would be no jobs here for them. If here wasn’t a dearth of doctors and Nurses abroad you wouldn’t see all these Nigerian doctors abroad. Scarcity creates the vacuum that is filled by the best of the migrant countries.

There are 15 Nigerians for every citizen of Rep of Benin and 7 for every Ivorian. To start with they are French speaking. You are unlikely to meet in the same countries abroad due to that singular distinction in Language and colonial history. Wheras we gravitate towards English speaking western countries, they gravitate towards the French speaking where we rarely cross paths. Again a failure to analyze the situation properly.

Even if they want to make corrections or do some cancellations at the upper level of collation,, we need to see what the results were like before the corrections began,, and what later came out after the corrections.!!
