Is wike Igbo?
He is saying the Ibo man who supplies cables and generator will now play the ethnic card saying they removed the contract for supplying cables and generators because the contractors are Ibo.

Atikuuuuu you have a penchant for not honoring your words. I will take this with a pinch of salt.
many have a penchant for reading but not understanding. He never said he will step down from contesting the primaries, he said if a younger person wins the primary. "i will step down if someone else wins the primary" means he will contest the primaries.

The point is he is going to contest the primary in a party he created for his ambition...he cannot lose the primary. he is stating the obvious but merely playing on the intelligence of the mob that is well known for not having any.

When I hear such words like division and tribalism, I first check who is making such statements. The obvious is always discernible from afar. Obi has lived in Lagos and owned property in Lagos and is a great contributor in building the market in question. If government of Lagos state is not partisan and tribalistic, they would call stakeholders of the market and discuss improvement of the market or it relocation with the stakeholders. But that has not been the case. It is always deliberate action to keep Obi crying for the oppressed without thinking about the support he will gain afterwards. When you don't like someone being pitied by the public, avoid anything that would make him to Cry even though you feel he deserved to be punished.
They did. Your people locked the gates and beat up the staff of LASG. They called them for meetings, they refused to attend.

PRESS STATEMENT
Obi wrong on Trade Fair Complex

Ex-Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has visited the Trade Fair Complex where Lagos State Government enforced its Physical Planning Laws.
He praised the traders for what he called their “restraint”, adding that the buildings that were knocked down had approvals.
He launched into emotional theatrics, describing the incident as “a test of impunity, justice and compassion” - all in an effort to mislead the public by misinformation and disinformation. This is unfair.
Here are the facts of the matter: The owners of the building have no approval. They got ample time to regularise their papers when the state government declared last year a general amnesty, which was extended several times. The owners shunned the offer. When Physical Planning officials visited the complex, the gates were locked against them; they were beaten up. The police rescued them. When the government called the owners for talks, they said they would not come; they did not come.

Their defence is that the Management Board of the Trade Fair permitted them to build their structures. This is wrong. The board, which is a creation of the Federal Government to manage the complex, does not have powers to approve or regulate building developments within the complex independent of Lagos State Government. Physical Planning and building approvals are within the remit of State Governments. Under the Nigerian Urban and Regional Planning Act (1992, as domesticated by Lagos State’s Physical Planning and Development Regulations), all physical development in any part of Lagos must obtain planning permit/approval from the Lagos State Government through its Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

This position was further clarified and reinforced by The Supreme Court judgment of 2003 (Attorney-General of Lagos State v. Attorney-General of the Federation) that land use and physical planning fall under concurrent jurisdiction, and states retain the authority to regulate development control within their territories, including federal lands, except for core areas like military formations or exclusive federal enclaves.

The Trade Fair Complex Board may manage leases, tenancies, and commercial activities, but any construction, alteration, or development still requires Lagos State planning permit. Otherwise, such developments would be deemed illegal under state law, and the Lagos State Government has the power to seal or demolish them.
In other words, the Management Board can allocate spaces and give administrative consent, but building approvals must pass through Lagos State Government.
We must decide the kind of society we want - one governed by law or one run by emotions, fueled by political interests.

They assumed that being a complex formerly owned by FG that the land has soveroghty above the original and eternal land owner - Lagos State.

They think that the property was an island akin to the Vatican .

The refused to get the mandatory approval to effect a building from LASG thusdenying the state of revenue and oversight functions as per building safety codes.

By arrogantly refusing to regularise the properties , they were denying the state government of revenue that would have accrued from tenement rates.

They asked they were above the state government and laws of the land.

That is to show you how lawless they are and how girigori operates in the same orbit of lawlessness that he inserted himself as their chief advocate.
It also betrays their intentions in Lagos.

Which self help?

Laws exist for a reason.

Do LASTMA require a court order to impound an errant driver's car?

It is up to the developers to seek redress in court after being served a demolition order.

Did they go to court to halt LASG from carrying out their development control duties?

Even in the west, especially the over regulated US and UK construction sector, a county can halt any development based on several infractions and order a demolition wish the errant developer will be billed for the demolition and environmental sanitation carried out on the site.

Government can act without a court order if you are in flagrant abuse of their regulatory laws.
LASG even gave them several opportunities to regularrize their properties they refused to attend. When LASG sent their staff to the estate, they were locked out and beaten!

The problem with Lagos is that some of the places that were demolish like the international trade fare has absolutely nothing to do with Lagos state.
Please educate yourselves and stop spreading falsehoods. Only a state government can give building permit. Even the federal government need building permit before it can erect a structure in a state except the structure is for defense. The federal govt cannot issue a building permit for any state even if the land belongs to them. The only place the federal govt is authorized to grant building permits is the FCT.

Secondly you don’t compensate for illegality. If Abia chose to compensate maybe the properties were legal and acquired for overriding public interest or they decided to be magnanimous. If you don’t have permit no one is oblidged to compensate you.

You can read the Supreme Court judgement here.

MKPUOGALIGA:
You dont get it. We are not against demolition if the structures are built illegally but that's not what is going on here
A structure that does not have planning permission by the authority vested with the power to issue planning permits is by definition an illegal structure. Only states have the authority to issue building permits.....this has been settled by the supreme court. see https://weeklyreportsofnigeria.com/judgement/sc/5305

The land is owned by the federal government and it was granted to the federal government for a specific purpose. Once state land granted to the federal govt is to be used for a purpose other than the purpose for which it was granted then the permit must come from the state. In any event, the planning permit for all properties in a state MUST come from the state govt.

Federal govt cannot give planning permission/ building permits outside the federal capital territory.

Therefore the planning permit they claim to have which was supposedly issued by the federal govt is null and void.

Many states have properties in Lagos as Lagos state used to be the capital and many had liaison offices or governors lodges. Oyo state for example cannot decide to sell any land or property it owns in Lagos for a different purpose and then issue building permit to the purchasers.

EVEN the federal government itself cannot erect a structure in any state without a building permit issued by that state except that property is for defense purposes.

Why is APC scares stiff anytime Jonathan name is mentioned?

They know he is the only one who can wrestle power from Tiluumbu.
Nobody is scared of Jonathan. He cannot run. A SAN was on TV recently and he explained the law and addressed the issue many raise about retroactive application of the law. He said an amendment to an existing law is not the same as the enactment of a new law. Wheras a new law cannot be retroactive, an amendment takes effect from the day the original law was passed. So any amendment to the 1999 Nigerian constitution takes effect from 1999.

Ofcourse that is his own opinion and the matter would have to be settled by the Supreme Court but it shows the danger of firpelding Jonathan as a candidate…..he can be disqualified after he wins…if he wins.

In any event he can’t win.

Who are the foreign investors that come to Nigeria to invest in illegalities? Those are not the kind of foreign investors we need or want.

I am sure his “foreign investors” are his development brothers abroad trying to launder their money via illegal propertiry development in trade fair.

There are some things you hear that you do t have to be told these are shady people. Which kind of foreign investor came to Nigeria to invest in the types of buildings you see in the pictures below.

No genuine foreign investor comes to Nigeria to invest in property and it is trade fair that he decides to invest. .

Tinubu does not need your votes. Don’t confuse people like Hope or Umahi’s attempts to please Tinubu for their own political relevance as Tinubu or APC needing your votes.

Hope or Tinubu fighting for their personal political relevance is different from Tinubu needing your votes. APC has won the last 3 elections without the SE votes and it will win again without it. SE politicians are merely fighting for themselves because they know what positions they get is based on the votes they deliver.

Orji Kalu wanted to be senate president, how can you be senate president without delivering votes, when SS delivered votes? That is why you see people like Umahi, Kalu and Uzodima running up and down. Uzodinma and Umahi want to be vice president in 2031, this is about their personal ambitions not about APC or Tinubu needing or begging any known bigot zone for votes. Everybody knows the SE will never vote for a yoruba man and smart people know APC does not need their cotes to win.

Zoning is actually not a constitutional requirement and it is undemocratic. Zoning is merely a gentleman’s agreement that is not legally binding. I repeat, It is neither constitutional nor democratic.

Plus you plus Momodu are wayo people. Dele is against zoning because it favors his candidate, you are against zoning because it doesn’t favour your candidate. Cunny man die, cunny many bury am.
