Switruth:How is Ukraine doing today? Choose your role models carefully. |
Kewekubosineh:I have answered the question in my first post. Read the last sentence of my 1st post. However irrespective of who caused what, it is your responsibility to defend your land from terrorists. Instead you o wewhemningly supported terrorists. Including your longest standing senator standing surety for him, your presidential candidate refusing to criticize them and your social colulturwl organization fully supporting them. However it started, IPOB is a fully supported Ibo project and these are the consequences. The problem with peace and war is this. It is easy to destroy, it is difficult to rebuild. That is why the people you call cowards choose peace. After the world war2, it took the entire world to rebuild Europe, the world bank and the Breton woods institutions IMF etc were created to rebuild Europe. They did it because Europe was seen as valuable. What is the value in the SE to the rest of anigeria that anyone will go out of their way to rehabilitate a self destroyed zone? The only reason anyone cares about the SE truth be told is that if it is not fixed, you people will continue to migrate and bring to other regions the attitudes that destroyed your region. But why would anyone when clearly you are not even remorseful! |
This woman should stop trying to gaslight and deceive her gullible supporters. No one has asked her to apologize. Six months ago she was asked to apologize or serve her suspension. She chose to serve her suspension. There is no issue of apology now. Many of her supporters are too xxxx to understand this. Nobody has asked her for apology! She is just trying to reframe the whole thing as if she is being defiant whereas she has served her suspension. It’s like a child saying he or she is not eating when nobody offered the child food to reject in the first place….it’s a cry for attention! |
Kewekubosineh:Whose land is it? who is feeling the repercusions of abandonment now? the irony is if you go through the pages of nairaland, you will find how people warned you about the folly of your biafra and IPOB adventures. But just as you refuse to take responsibility now, you refused to heed good cousel then. it's just in your DNA. all youve written above is story for the gods. when others stoop to conquer or compromise for peace, you call them mumu and cowards. they are the ones whose lands are prospering. you tried to instigate the people of Rivers to toe your path, luckily they chose the path of peace. Dangote and every other businessman or investor is not interested in your excuse. Money has no emotion or sentiment. Money is only interested in places where it can get a return. To get a return, there must be peace, security of investment and staff and a viable population that can afford its products. if only the poor remain in an area because insecurity has chasen away the middle class and the wealthy, that area becomes unviable for investment. The secondary effect is that to kickstart a deserted area, you need investment but no one invests in a deserted area. welcome to the reality you created for yourselves! |
writetopoka:Charity begins at home. If you flee your states, who is going to make it attractive for outsiders? you have turned your land into a wasteland, even your own businessmen do not invest there anymore and you want an outsider to invest? You are reaping the rewards of your support of Kanu, Ekpa and IPOB. Na una take your hands do una self. |
The coastal road was actually opened 2 days ago! |
When this man talks about Africa, you know he is about to unleash some medicine or genetic modification that will cause damage to Africans. The man is the devil himself. |
This woman and her wahala! She is part of those causing problems in Rivers or at least fueling the fire. The people that fought told you they have settled, you say you want to know the terms of settlement. Were you part of the fight? Were you there when they fought? Be wary of “activists” without problems they are irrelevant. When there is peace they have no job. Some of you may remember Rev Al Sharpton, he shows up whenever there is a problem in the black community, he never did anything to improve the lot of blacks or encourage them to aim high, educate themselves etc.. His modus operandi was to keep blacks in the ghetto mindset that their problem was because they were black and he was was fighting for them. He made a lot of money and fame of the sufferings of the blacks….the blacks stayed poor. |
SarkinYarki:emotion and opinions do not negate facts When people like us talk, we provide workings. since it is so difficult for you to list Jonathan's infrastructure legacies, I rest my case especially as your responses show you are not coming from a place of sound reasoning. |
SarkinYarki:oga i fed you with facts and I asked you to provide jonathans legacies. simple! as far as FDI, anyone who is thinking properly would hopefully by now realise that FDI is a greek gift. DID porsche set up any industries, how many people did they employ? They came to take money from the rich and in return what did they benefit your economy and when things got hard they ran away, is that the kind of foreigners you hold up as a yardstick? Dangote invested $20B in a refinery, come rain come sunshine, that refinery is not going anywhere. FDI that comes to sell and not produce in your country are fair weather friends. Secondly, can the average man afford a porsche? Porsche is not a yardstick. if anything Porsche's presence in Nigeria at the time was a symbol of the decadence, emptiness and false life of the GEJ era. Wealth built on nothing but an accidental rise in the price of crude, most of which was fritted away in decadent living and no focus on infrstrucure or saving. again i ask you to list Jonathan's infrastructure legacies. abi you have nothing to show? |
Impecca:i always laugh and at the same time cry whenever i read comments like these. 1 What have the youth done to warrant them handing over power 2 have you worked for the power? 3. what does it say about the youth that you start a movement (endsars) and instead of using the momentum to register your own party, you hand over to the same set of people? 4. whatever you may think about them, these people you are talking about earned their right to be in power. The majority of them were politically active in their 20s and 30s as youth. what have the youths done to deserve power? |

SarkinYarki:YOUR CLAIMS ARE WRONG 1: Jonathan rebased the economy. As a result of rebasing the economy "grew" instantly from $269B to $510. It’s not Jonathan that took the economy from $269B to over $500B, it just means the previous figures (including the $269B) were understated and inaccurate and the performance of the economy by previous presidents before the rebasing was not properly calculated. It is merely an accounting change. Similarly the rebasing under Tinubu that took our economy to $243B is merely accounting. 2; it is wrong to asses Nigeria's economy in dollars. it is only used to get a rough measure for comparing countries but nominal GDP is not an accurate reflection of an economy's performance. As an example, in the last few months, the naira has gone from N1650 to N1490 to $1. does that mean the GDP has grown over 10%? 3: the NBS announded yesterday that our 2Q GDP grew 4.3%, the highest in 9 years. so your claim that he hasnot added to our GDP is false. 4: Nigeria's growth under Jonathan was an accident of fortune 2.1MBPD and $100+ oil price and what did he do with it? Tell me a single legacy infrastructure project that Jonathan left behind for all his great economy? For all the road, which road did he build? whatever you may say about Buhari. Nigeria is littered with infrastructure project, roads, rail etc that will continue to be enjoyed 50years from now. What are we using today that was built by Jonathan talk less 20 or 50 years from now? i am from the SW, I wasnt born when Awolowo was premier but we see his legacies all over the SW, All the industrial estates in lagos (isolo, ikeja, ilupeju, ogba, iganmu etc) were built by Awolowo, Obafemi Awolowo University was built by Awo, Free education, the roads, his farm settlements are still there, i can go on and on... Awo left office 65 years ago, these things are still there.. FDR built the American highway network close to 100 years ago.....what is Jonathan's legacy? what can you point to and tell your child or grandchild in future that this was built by a man called Goodluck Jonathan? The untimate test of a good leader is what you continue to benefit from long after he has left office...that is what you call legacy! what is Jonathan's legacy especially as things were so good under him as you say? No Nigerian leader in history has benefitted from a production level of 2.1m barrels per day and an oil price above $100. What did he do with it? Kainji dam was built 60yrs ago by Balewa, we are enjoying it today. Which dam, which power stations, which rail, which roads did Jonathan build? The irony seems lost on you that you hail a man for our best economic period, yet there are no legacies left behind for the future generations. i dont have a problem with criticisms of any govt but come with facts. |

truthera:I can’t answer your question but I think you should know 2 things 1: the EFCC doesn’t just go picking up people because you make an accusation on social media. There must be a petition. 2: if you saw the Wike interview, he said this matter is not new. It was brought up when he was contesting for governor and when his wife was nominated as a judge. 3: who told you they haven’t investigated? What if they have investigated it and found there is nothing to it? I think the question should be why hasn’t Sowore or Sahara not lodged a formal petition? One could also ask why EFCC has not investigated the house Obi bought in GRA Ikeja while he was governor. Why ICPC or EFCC has not investigated Obi’s diversion of government funds in a bank he owns and a brewery he has shares in. |
Wallade:This monopoly NIgerians talk about is simply because Nigerian like easy money. They are not innovative, they are not efficient. Many of these businessmen are sitting on huge liquidity of cash but they would rather invest abroad than invest in Nigeria. Dangote took big risks. Despite being a billionaire he was cash poor and in debt for years while building the refinery. He was so cash poor, he had to sell a stake in his refinery to NNPC to raise cash. The result of his risks is the scale he enjoys . If that results in monopoly so be it. Fortune favours the brave. Those who played safe should not complain. Tesla like many tech companies was bleeding billions of dollars for years and could have gone bankrupt. Today these companies are trillion dollar companies. Fortune favours the brave, fortune does not favour those who play it safe. RIP to DAPMAN and all their tank farms! |
If I recall Sam Mbakwe airport was built with donations from Ibos. Trump also asked Americans to donate to pay the national debt! I didn’t hear anyone say Ibos or Americans are finished. This man just talks too much! |
The real Fayose, the one that matters, can never join ADC. |
many heembeciles have commented on my post about thuggery. Mostly from people who clearly arrived lagos recently as refugees on a nightbus. My signature articulates how i approach people on nairaland going forward. you can disagree with me and I welcome constructive disagreements and intellectual engagements but i dont respond to unintelligent abusive people. I have blocked all of them. To those sensible or genuinely curious nairalanders. Common sense will dictate to those who have that you dont need thugs in a state where you are in total control. Prior to 1999 lagos elections were won by 80-90%. It is always when the opposition wants to take over a state against the will of the people backed with the confidence of federal might that introduces thugs. What do you need thugs for in a state you control overwhemingly? Again same scenario in ibadan in 1965, 1983 in Ondo state (ekiti and Akure were part of Ondo state then) 2003 is when political violence entered Ogun and Osun states. These were safe AG, UPN, AD states, States that are won with 80-90% votes. NuRTW has existed from the dawn of time. I challenge anyone to produce any incident of political thuggery in Lagos by NURTW or anyone prior to 2003. So what happenned in 2003? I have told you. PDP wanted to take over lagos by fire by force. A certain old man in PDP was the anchor behind the mission, they armed (I mean guns) a lot of street thugs and in reponse AD alligned with the state chapter of NURTW. Remember that Atiku had warned Tinubu about the mission. Tinubu turned to NurtW for protection and that is why NURTW do anyhow today and are untouchable. That was how NURTW became a factor in Lagos politics. |
KillahPriest:its a fact. lagos had always been a 95% UPN/AD state. There was no opposition, so no need for political thuggery. I am old enough to know the flash points for politics in yoruba land. They were Ibadan, Akure, Ekiti. Those were the only places where political violence occurred and it always because the yoruba states were always in opposition to National party that a yoruba politician from the national party (Akintola in 1960s, Omoboriowo in 1983, OBJ in 2003) attempted to use federal might and thugs to to capture those places against the will of the people. The means of engagement was the same in 1965 as it was in 1983 and 2003. The determination of Obasanjo and the PDP to take over the SW is what introfuced political thuggery to places in the Sw that had never experienced it. Places like Ife, lagos, ogun state etc. One of the men behind the thuggery in lagos is an old man in PDP his name starts with "B" the thugs they armed in 2003 are the thugs of today, just like the thugs they armed in Borno and abandoned after elections became Boko Haram . |
fuckingAyaya:its actually PDP that introduced thuggery to Lagos politics Many of you were not alive or too young in 1999/2003. |
osuofia2:The Obidients pushing Fubara, look at the condition of their states. Everywhere they put hand peace never follows. Everywhere they go there is always conflict. They say they are brave and not cowards but after they destroy their land with "bravery" they run to the lands of the “cowards”! Know who to listen to. Stooping to conquer is a saying for a reason…..because it works. |

tommy589:You may be right, perhaps I got my dates wrong, maybe that was when it was announced. Whenever it took off was when history was dropped from primary/JSS curriculum However Fafunwa did not become minister till 1990. |
BigBreezeBabs:History was removed long before Buhari came into power. Maybe if history existed you would know the history of history removal. History was removed as a stand-alone subject in primary and junior secondary schoolsin 1982 when Nigeria switched to the 6-3-3-4 system. It was merged with social studies. In 2007 the government officially abolished history in primary and JSS, it was implemented in 2009/10. In senior secondary schools very few schools offered it. |
Proudlyngwa:When you are doing “business” by importing with official forex and import duty waivers competing against legitimate business men who obtained their forex at the black market rate and paid the official duty or you claim to be a banker and you don’t lend to businesses, offer innovative products but make money by charging your customers for everything from withdrawing their own money, issuing debit cards, alerts and chequebooks because there is easy money lending to govt and from round tripping, why won’t won’t you be successful? Those avenues for many of these business men have been closed, we will now know who the true business men are! You see them with rickety tankers because they had no need to be efficient. Now that they have to compete in a levelplaying field, you will see the wheat separating from the chaff. |
Proudlyngwa:Many rich Nigerians made their money through rent seeking e.g forex subsidies and fraudulent fuel subsidies. Now that the playing field has been leveled, many can’t compete. Now we will know who are the real businessmen. |
NUPENG is finally getting their just rewards. Nobody is in support of them. The era of anyhowness is gone! |
The so called impasse was caused by Natasha herself and she can end it herself. It is pertinent to note she was the one who went to court who ruled the suspension is legal and she was wrong to breach senate rules. She then chose to appeal the judgment and as a lawyer she knows a party to the court proceedings cannot act on a matter that is before the court. She can end it if she wants to end it but having not proven the sexual allegations she claimed she had proof of, she is now engaging in theatrics and co-opting the gullible including sadly the punch to give support to a cause which does not exist. Stop giving her oxygen. When and if she is ready she will do the needful. |
anonimi:I don’t have time for pedantic arguments. I have stated it many times in this thread. The issue is raising taxes. What they do with the tax is a different subject. Stop appearing in my mentions with whataboutism. If people don’t use taxes properly the fault is on you for repeatedly voting them back in. You are the ones not alive to your civic responsibilities. Consider yourself and anyone who else quotes me with dull posts blocked. I am not interested in your life frustrations. We need to raise taxes and the best person to raise taxes is someone who is an expert in raising taxes. That is the topic of this thread. |
nedu666:you clealy are unfamiliar with the Uk. VAT is 20% and income tax is 20-45% you could have made the effort to verify before you quoted me. like i said to the previous poster. I have no tolerance for low level interactions on nairaland anymore blocked |
YouAreNobody:i really have reached a point in my journey on nairaland where I have lost patience with people who offer infantile low level conversations. i really dont want to be seeing these type of comments in my mentions blocked! |
