ppogba:The key is to be smart If you are buying by the truck load, you should eventually be able to sell a truck load a month. I got this idea from Sanusi Dantata some time ago. Check his Twitter page and browse his feed. The reason why I mentioned it is because if I remember correctly he said a truck load was about 20m. Someone asked him the same question the OP asked. Having said that. Business is not for people who lack initiative, who see problems instead of opportunities, who are looking for people to tell them how to make money. If you are selling wholesale you have your retailers and you are supplying to them in bulk. I don’t know about the cement business but you are not selling by the bag. Your profits are lower but you have faster turnover. |
EnglandAmaka:She has to look around to find an I opportunities in the market. 1) Find out about being a wholesale distributor for fast moving consumer products. E.g cement. My mom was a senior government worker in the late 80s. She got a distributorship license for Guiness at the time. She didn’t have a shop, you wouldn’t know she was a distributor. She had a Ghanian who handled the logistics for her while she did her day job. She was making more than her salary every month and she was on the highest salary GL 16. At the time a very comfortable salary. If I didn’t know of the Ghanaian who worked for her and see her exercise book where she wrote all the figures and profits, even I wouldn’t know my Mom was a distributor for Guinness. In those days we don’t ask questions because the only answer we get was have you finished your homework. 2) agriculture. There are so many things one can do here. 3) if you have a talent or a hobby you are good at see if it is Marketable and in demand. 4) listen when people complain about a product or a service and see how you can solve the problem and I if it is scalable. Often they are not the only ones having the same problem. People pay for products or solutions to problems. 4) key to growth is scalability. Something you can start with 1 and turn into 10, 100, 1000 5) the problem with many educated people is they think certain businesses are beneath them. Remmember Feminotedola started by distributing diesel himself in a pickup! Keep your eyes open, ask questions as you do about your day to day. Where do you get this products from, is this business profitable, what are the challenges you gave etc. I once met one of these delivery couriers at a supermarket and I asked him about the business. He was clearly educated. I was surprised he had no idea about his business. He actually had no idea how much his employer charged the customer he was shopping for. His own was just to collect and deliver…..a graduate! A smart person would want to know everything about the business, how much the margins are, the challenges, how the business is run etc so if he has the opportunity or a chance meeting with someone with capital he can put his knowledge to use. These are the people that think japa is the solution to their lives. Yet they live surrounded by opportunity but they are not curious. These are the people that japa and find out actually life was better in Nigeria. |

Ashirioluwa:Oh I didn’t know you were looking for easy life. Cleaning bottoms of elderly women is not easy too. Pick your poison. Investing your N20m in relocation expenses to likely end up Cleaning bottoms with a maximum income upside or starting a business in Nigeria with unlimited upside. For easy life she should look for a rich man but be ready to share him. You can’t tell a rich t to have side chicks |
LeeSmart:I am a British born Uk citizen. I am in Nigeria by choice. Successive passports, current and old driving licenses and original birth certificate for your viewing pleasure. People like us don’t use a visa to travel to USA and quite frankly there is nothing there I am looking for. In fact at a time I needed a Nigerian visa to travel to Nigeria. |
Jozibrainz100:I am not a Russian or a North Korean. they dont owe me anything. they are fighting for the preservation of the dignity and sovereignty of their people so they dont end up like you. A slave who thanks his enslaver for crumbs. Russia, China and North korea never enslaved or colonized any African country. After the west has helped to destroy your economies, they now recruit you to wash bottoms for their aged and you a graduate are only too happy to oblidge. look at the roads, rail, and other investments in Nigeria, do you see any American companies? instead they pontificate and tell you to accept same sex marraige and preach democracy and human rights that as you can see they themselves dont practice. its your choice to remain mentally enslaved! |
OriOko88:why do you feel a need to leave your country? a slave is one who doesnt even know he is one is worst version of a slave. he wont recognise his liberators. blocked |
great leaders! not like these nonsense western imperialists |
1b8m:if you have N20m you have no business relocating for financial reasons. find a business and turnover your money |
Softmirror:I don't think so, i think he is just a sloppy person not particularly gifted upstairs. Lagos is indeed no man's land, the problem is the statement is a figure of speech but the ibos take it literally. it is not meant to be taken literally. its the taking it literally that causes offense amongst the yorubas. its like calling your dad's friend "Uncle" or your friend "brother", it doesnt make you blood relations. But imagine a non relative you have called "Uncle" or "brother" all your life now trying to struggle with you for your share of the family inheritance? |
Softmirror:it was an irresponsible statement by Bwala. I have said it from the get go. Tinubu's media team are uncoordinated and incompetent. Truth must be told. I distinguish between the presidents media team (bwala and co) and the ministry of Information. Tinubu's media boys are just sloppy and incompetent. Ministry of Information especially the minister is a good spokesman and probably the best minister of information since 1999 but his ministry too can do more. |
Sportsflash50:Obidients better stay away from Bourkina faso!! we cant be sending Abike to bail you out everytime! |
IGBOPROMISE1:Blocked and added to recurring block list! Zero tolerance for interactions with your sort |
Something tells me that just like Boko haram, the ibos have created a monster that will be difficult to reign in.. The thugs some politicians used for elections are reportedly those who became Boko haram recruits. The IPOB, ESN members have already turned into bandits terrorizing the SE. The problem with these groups is you remove the head and they break up into numerous groups. The problem is how do you reign them in? Ibos created the problem in the SE, when they are ready they will solve it themselves. The only problem is they flock to other zones with their mentality and cause overcrowding and conflicts. |
richmond500:I had e written about this before and I won’t repeat it. Atiku was a big problem but he was merely a symptom of a problem with PDP that is foundational. PDP was never a party rooted in Democratic principles. It was a party created by the military (or if you prefer endorsed and preferred by the military) for transfer to civilian power. At the return of civilian govt in 1999, the people who truncated June 12 enabled the Abacha govt were mostly to be found in PDP. It operated not through Democratic principles of consensus and compromise but by orders and impunity. It worked when they were in power but out of power with nothing to share, it fell apart. Simple! PDP was a military construct. It was the anointed party for the transition. Even the presidential candidate Obasanjo was hand picked by the military. That you had civilians does not mean it wasn’t a military construct. Look at a lot of the top brass in the PDP from 1999, a lot of them are ex military. OBJ,Babangida, David Mark, Bode George, oyinlola, Nyako, Jang, Atiku, Anenih, Alamieyeseigha, etc. Even late yaradua that became governor of katsina in 1999 became governor because he is from a military family! Go through a list of the PDP chieftains and governors senators etc, you will be amazed how many of them are ex military, police customs, DSS, NSA etc or people who were “friends” of the forces particularly the military. PDP was a creation of the military. That is where you will find the Ex military/ ex forces boys because it was their party. Buhari is one of the few ex military men that had never been in PDP. That is the foundational problem with PDP. It has a culture of giving orders like any military/ paramilitary organisation that has filtered to its civilian members and is the root of their problem. They are not a Democratic Party because some people are still grounded in the old ways. That is why anywhere ex members of PDP go they bring chaos. Don’t also forget many member of PDP from ages 50-60 and below had their first taste of politics under PDP since the military had been in power for the previous 15 years so for many, that’s all they know. The only place PDP defectors have not been able to cause chaos is APC. That could either be because 1) APC is a well organized party or/and 2) they are the party in power. Yesterday we saw how Tinubu addressed the CPC block, trying to assuage and assure them. Obasanjo will ruin your business, remove you from office. and let you know that you dare not cross him. That’s the culture of PDP (no gree for anybody) that is their undoing today. Another example is what happened with Ambode, the grassroots said they don’t want him anymore. If it were Obasanjo, he would have crushed them for daring to even suggest they were no longer happy with the man he installed as governor and wanted him out. Even Fayose warned defecting PDP members in Ekiti.."dont go and do like you do in PDP there o. they dont tolerate nonsense where you are going o, party is supreme over there o" So yes Atiku was a problem it was merely a symptom of a larger problem. |
COMPAQ:You are right on the discos in terms of operating environment but the purchasers lacked capacity anyway. You are also right on Nigeria airways but it’s facilities was sold to cronies at giveaway prices. Nigeria airways had a lot of valuable assets and yet their pensioners and severed staff were still owed till recently. Nigerian mining and coal corporations were sold according to information on the BPP site. They are listed as completed transactions. Edit: Nigerian mining corporation had 23 subsidiaries and the subsidiaries were sold piecemeal. At at 2017 18 had been sold and a news paper report lists the remains 5 as finally sold. The BPE website lists the Nigerian mining corporation and coal as completed transactions.

Below are examples of mansions. What This guy bought is a house, it’s not even a big house.

mrvitalis:If there was a good road to Uyo, I I would hop into my car and take my family on a road trip to Uyo like I enjoyed when I was young with my parents. You may not be able to afford the rooms at the resort but I can and there are many who can but whose only tourism is to travel abroad but will want to explore their own country if there are good roads and good hotel facilities. They only need a few hundred a night in a country of at least 5-10m who can afford it. The problem is access. If you can’t contribute to a debate without insults then you are banned. I am sure I have banned you before. That’s the problem with this 3 week ban thing. People like you keep popping back. You are now blocked and I need to keep a list of blocked people to remind myself to reblock them on sight because I know I have blocked you before. |
COMPAQ:That’s why when you jump on a users post especially one where he quoted someone, follow the trail of the conversation before responding. BTW, Dangote wasn’t technically a succes because his purchase was reversed, though it is safe to assume it would have been. |
Seun:Please make blocks permanent. I am tired of seeing people I have blocked reappear after 3 weeks with the same old nuisance posts. Or at least give us the option to unblock them at our own choosing. There are some people I just don’t want to see their posts are see them in my mentions. |
mrvitalis:Now you know why the SS are excited about the coastal road and the opportunities that it will bring. |
COMPAQ:Why do we have a problem of reading and not understanding what we read? Please show where I said it was bad! I said Obasanjo sold to people without capacity and this govt must not make the same errors. |
frog12:Nigerians are too crooked to manage state owned enterprises.. at the same time these companies are a source of jobs for the people. A lot of the unemployment we face came as a result of the sale of these companies to people without financial or profession/technical capacity who ran them down. Just imagine the number of staff retrenched by Nigerian Airways alone.. |
Softmirror:Yes not all Africans are intelligent just like not all Nigerians are crooks. |
Lifestone:Dangote was only 1. An exception to the rule does not nullify the rule. Over 400 govt companies were sold under Obasanjo. Even the BPE the agency that sold them later said only 10 are doing well. Most of them are moribund today after the purchasers stripped the assets and laid off workers. Let me give you a list and you can tell me which ones are functioning and profitable, still employing Nigerians and which ones are moribund. Let me challenge you to list a privatized govt company that is working and for every one I will give you a list of 10. Here are just a few of the 400 Iwopin paper mill Nigeria airways. Nitel Iwopin paper mill /federal-superphosphate-fertilizer-company-limited /nigerian-newsprint-manufacturing-co-ltd/ Ajaokuta steel Jos steel Abuja Distribution Company; Benin Distribution Company; Eko Distribution Company; Enugu Distribution Company; Ibadan Distribution Company; Yola Distribution Company (reversed due force majeure) Ikeja Distribution Company; Jos Distribution Company; Kano Distribution Company; Port Harcourt Distribution Company; and Kaduna Distribution Company Nigerian mining company Nigerian coal corporation

Sheuns:That’s one example of many. If you can’t make your point on a serious matter without emotional uncouth language then I have no wish to interact with you any further. You are now blocked! |
Aregbesola’s only work in eight yrs as a minister. |
Sheuns:OBJ sold off these companies to people without capacity and majority of those companies never worked and people got laid off. It’s not the idea that is bad, it’s the corrupt way it was done. If refineries and other govt parastatals are sold off to cronies again then it’s more of the same. If it is sold to professionals with technical and financial capacity then it will work. |
blackgold2018:Blocked! |
You go explain tire. It’s only people stuck in the past that still put the USA on a pedestal or have any desire to go there. |
Softmirror:You must have a brain to wash! |
