The first GSM call was made under Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar during Nigeria 99
The 1st GSM license was granted by Mohammed Azika who only became minister of communication in June 1999. The lGSM licenses were awarded in 2001. Abubakar left office May 1999

If you were around in 1999, you will know Abulsalam was too busy chopping.

That’s not how these things work. Some unknown telecom engineers would have tested that the network was live and stable by making not just one but a series of phone calls (probably hundreds) before giving the go ahead to their boss to call the NCC boss. Therefore some unknown engineer somewhere made the 1st GSM call. He knows himself but he won’t get the glory.

At best you can say he made the 1st official call.

Rather unfortunate that a party as this crumbled
You can’t build on nothing! Reap where you didn’t sow!

They could have registered their own party in the last 2 years since the election. Instead they were chasing shadows up and down.

Tinubu left AD and formed his own party. Buhari left ANPP and formed his own party.

Politics › Re: Public Apology To Seyi Tinubu By Atiku Isah (NANS President) by casualobserver:
This is how you know someone who has or does not have what it takes to be a president. Can you imagine that Atiku and Obi had already made comments condemning Seyi Tinubu!

Somebody who is destined to operate at the highest level does not comment on every little story on Twitter.

Even GTB that they lied against did not comment and has not commented. It is now coming out that not only did VDM’s mother take a loan but did not tell her son and confessed at the bank that she did indeed take a loan but also VDM was never arrested at GTB.

If you respond to every little thing , you are not ready to be a leader because as a leader, You will be receiving missles and false allegations every second distracting you from your job!

Atiku as president
Obi as vice is the best way to remove Tinubu

But my personal advice would be

Obi steps aside completely... Nominate someone from South South to vice Atiku and they rule for 4 years and hand over to Obi

This would defeat Tinubu before 12 noon no matter the rigging
The problem with the opposition is you lack basic intelligence from leadership to supporters.

The reason Tinubu won in 2023 is because of the opposition and the reason why he will win in 2027 is because of the opposition.

Nigeria needs a vibrant intelligent opposition. You people are a disgrace! I have never seen such an inept intellectually deficient opposition in the political history of Nigeria.
Politics › Re: I’m Not Leaving PDP, But Coalition Will Challenge APC – Atiku by casualobserver:
Fellow Nigerians, please stop basing your lives on the advice of babalawos and marabouts. This is what happens, you start talking like a foolish man at 80!

The NPN-NPP alliance was a governance/parliamentary alliance after the NPN had won the election but did not have enough seats in parliament. That is how Ezeoke from NPP became speaker! The alliance came AFTER the election. It was a post election allliance for governance and just like the ZIK/Balewa alliance, both eventually failed.

Secondly a presidential candidate and his VO must come from the same party. You can’t be presidential candidate from PDP and Vp candidate from LP. So does this mean Obi is going back to the structure of criminality?

Toh!

VDM renovates schools;
VDM provides water in communities;
VDM speaks truth to power;
VDM helps people cheated recover money;
VDM gives at least 10 youths money every month to learn a skill .
And the list goes on and on.
VDM is more useful to Nigeria than most elected government officials.

When we see a young man hatíng on VDM we immediately know that you deserve Tinubu.

Moral lesson : We are praying for VDM. Dear God protect him .
If you had a brain, you will ask where does he get the money? EFCC arrested his for petitions of alleged financial crimes. Again I ask, where does he get the money?

I hope you know for instance there is a well known scam amongst media houses including some well known ones. They investigate and then they contact you to say we have this story then You pay them to quash the stories or you pay hem to promote your own narrative. There is also a similar scam amongst activists and charities. So always ask where is the money for your favorite tv station, newspaper, online celebrity, OAP, charity etc coming from?

It is a business, for you to become influential enough you have to build your brand but your income doesn’t come from broadcasting. You all heard what Natasha said about The favour ige Tv station of the brainless mob and how she paid them.

You have to build a brand as a people’s champion to attract the info you can use to blackmail people of means. He has a built a brand now such that if you have info you will probably go to him with it….but do you truly know what happens behind the scene?

Again I ask where does he money for his “charitable” projects come from?

I may be wrong but based on my experience of life and Nigerians, I do t believe he is clean! Again that’s my personal opinion. Clean people in Nigeria avoid publicity and the limelight like the plague!

One local government funds will dwarf all the money those claiming of closing their accounts which they are irrespective of regions in Nigeria.

We have so many irrational people in our society
You are being too kind to them!

casualobserver:
To start with there are 151, million accounts in Nigeria, Less than 500,000 accounts have a balance above N1m

95% of bank accounts have a balance less than N50,000.

Assuming your mythical 1000 accounts were closed with their N50k balance, The withdrawn deposit is less than what it costs the bank to buy a Corolla for a junior manager…..and they buy them in the hundreds!

All it means is one of their Corolla’s crashed and was written off!

Most NigeriaNs dont realize most Nigerian bank accounts are a liability to banks that’s why they charge you for everything. The amount of money the bank makes from your N50k balance is less than the administrative costs of operating your account. That’s why they don’t even bother with ATM anymore.

Countries with valuable customers offer free banking.
Most of them didn’t close the accounts, they just cut cards online for show, most of them bank with fintechs like opay. Those who withdrew their balance are likely N2k-10k

One of such f000000ls responded to my post yesterday. Her balance was N4k

Zooposki:
Should have said this before na. I already transferred my 4900 naira from GTB. Anyway, send me your account number let me send you the balance.

Honestly I am beginning to think that Tinubu has peaked and we have reached diminishing returns in terms of his ability to take us forward. Removing subsidy and unifying the exchange rate were great, systematic, laudable and groundbreaking…..but what next?

Nigeria does not need pie in the sky long term plans by people who won’t be there to execute the plan. I was in London when I started hearing of 4th mainland bridge, 20yrs later no bridge! I am not interested in long term plans but what you will deliver while you are in power. Let your successor worry about his own contribution. I am only interested in what you can deliver in a maximum of 2 terms!

Who has time to wait till 2046 at a time when even today solar is cheaper than band A electricity?

I have to be very honest with all supporters of this administration, I Will vote for him again and he will win in 2027 but only because the alternatives are so far inferior to him. I expect better!

A big problem in Nigeria is the poor quality of the opposition!

Bingo! this monetization leads to sensational headlines which the gullible hungry mob just grab and follow without checking.

They don’t know they are being played.

First VDM’s own brother said he was arrested and beaten inside GTB, when GTB released the CCTV of him walking out of the bank and even high fiving someone, the same brother then said oh his car was double crossed and arrested on the road and that people should come and protest. If VDMs own brother can lie so blatantly to initiate a protest because his brother was arrested, what other lies and deception have he and his brother sold to the public?

I have always said where does he get the money he uses to fund his “charities” and advocacies? Is it through blackmail or charity fraud, if it is kosher, who are his donors because we know he has no other job!

Politics › Re: "Nigeria First": Tinubu To Sign Executive Order Prioritising Local Industries by casualobserver:
Better late than never! It’s one of the 1st things he should have done!

How can we have assembly plants in Nigeria that create jobs for Nigerians and we are buying imported Prados and land cruisers?

If the benefits of his reforms are late in coming it’s because he didn’t do basic things like this on time!

All govt purchased air conditioners, TVs, photocopiers etc must be locally assembled, all school uniforms must be local fabric. Just basic low hanging fruits. Only locally produced food and drinks for official entertainment. Etc etc

I’ll be honest with you, even though I fully support the president, sometimes I wonder about some of the people advising him . I’ve said it before I particularly worry about the “Lagos boys”…..they are used to nonsense and exhibit arrogance in the process of executing mediocre ideas! All they know is how to package deals! If not for Tinubu himself and the fact that his opponent were Atiku and Obi, I would otherwise never vote for anyone who is part of the LASG APC political family!

How can it take you 2 years to know that buy local for the govt which is a large purchaser is one of the best policies to stimulate the economy?

I said it after the election when he started commenting on every matter that his popularity was based on the short timeframe before the election where people didn’t have the chance to truly know him and that if he was wise he would stop seeking attention and commenting on every matter because the more he talks the more he exposes his unsuitability for presidency and his emptiness upstairs!

That was what we said when we were young. But the decades and the time for reflection will come and you will reap the results of the choices you made.

Don’t be annoyed, he is a saint. Feel free to be the architects of your collective future.

I guarantee you your generation will look back when you are older and wiser at where did you get it wrong and you will realize it is things like this.

Every generation in Nigeria post independence makes a crucial collective mistake.

My parents generation it was looking down on politicians and not resisting the military. Not doing something about the ills in society because they were comfortable until it started to affect them. By which time it was too late to do anything.

My generation it was the best brains going abroad and avoiding politics and civil service prioritizing making money in the private sector. Creating the vacuum that got filled by the crooks we have today. We are successful but we can’t enjoy our success, our children are all abroad! We didn’t realize the error of the best brains not being in government or politics until it was too late.

Your generation is engaging in mob action both physical and especially online and culture of elevating mediocre celebrities and allowing them to remote control your brains and how you think. Trust me one day just like us, you will realize the grave error. Usually when it is too late!
