Youths are refusing to be bought with money, while the old fools who claimed to be wise are being bought over with ordinary 30 pieces of agbado. I'm beginning to believe that the problem of Nigeria is never the youths!
It was still the same old fools that collected money and left us with the choice of an old drug baron and a well known criminal as presidential candidates!

The true story of Christian mission work from Europe to Africa is an incredible story of love and sacrifice. They came in that order: 1. First , the lone explorer 2. Followed by the missionary and his Bible 3. Then the traders 4. Finally, the soldiers, guns and cannons. One King in Ethiopia said,' let's move fast to the guns and cannon" , when he noticed the white infiltration. |

MrBlock: I am not sure why this letter was coined this way. The non-repatration of revenue proceeds has led to cashflow constraints but not necessarily loss in business profits or revenue.
The only loss in profits I see is the inability of Emirates to earn investment interests on these funds. There would also be loss in profits if funds have to be obtained from more expensive sources to meet short-term obligations outside Nigeria. These two activities are financing and investment activities and hence not operational in nature.
The better decision that Emirates should have made is the deployment of these funds to local Investments that can earn higher comparative returns versus returns available outside Nigeria, after all, Nigeria has one of the highest interest rates in the world. I suspect this is what the Nigerian Government is trying to achieve as keeping these funds within would steer the economy. See English speaker... Speaking Turenchi more than the Oyinbo man himself! |

Crime › Re: I Don't Kidnap, I Only Kill People – Aleru, Zamfara Bandit Chief by caye(m): 10:06am On Jul 24, 2022 |
nextstep: Not necessarily... none of us actually "own" land in Nigeria, we lease it for 99 years from the state government. And the ultimate truth is we are all just temporary inhabitants of the land... even for our so-called ancestral land, most of us can trace our lineage to some point where "so and so settled in this land and started a farm here, then others came and it became a town." Meaning the land was not always in our family. You get.
So if generations of herders have been used to grazing on open land, but then someone decides to claim it and start farming there, or build an estate on it, what do you call that? I mean, at some point that land belonged to nobody, and the ancestor that settled it typically didn't buy it. They "owned" it by claiming it as theirs, and passing it on to their descendants.
Even me that has inherited and bought land in several places... eventually it will "belong" to someone else, also temporarily. All my sweat, blood, and struggles are just so I can temporarily claim ownership of something. Reminds me of ants, birds, lions that fight each other defending their "territory", despite the fact that given enough time, all of us fighters will have passed on.
The Fulani just took this idea of "nobody really owns the land" to its logical conclusion, because land is for the common good, and there was no point in owning it if - being nomadic - you were going to another area in 5 years.
We need to balance these two ideas, so that we can all have peace. It is meaningless to insist one way is right, just because it's what we grew up with.
We try to teach critical thinking skills to people, but apparently that effort was lost on you. What I am saying - and I'll try to simplify here - is that there rational reasons for what is going on; we should understand the root of the matter and solve the problem once and for all. I hope you don't think your ancestors - nor mine for that matter - are innocents who never went to war to fight over the land that you can now claim is yours.
If you read nothing in what I post, it is not because there was nothing there... it just means you blocked your mind from understanding what was being said. There are people who, as a result of understanding the problem, build lasting solutions and societies; there are also many who just exist in what they met and are content with just reacting. I'll leave you to decide which of those two groups you might belong to.
I understand the outrage at what the man said, but think about this: the only difference between called "founding father", "freedom fighter", or "rebellious insurgent" is who won the fight. There is a war being fought that will only get worse if a lasting solution is not found. Splitting into different countries is not going to solve the issue of desertfication.
Imagine if Lagos with it's 20+ million people, suddenly had no water (eg. the way Lake Chad has dried up)... Lagosians start crying out for help, but the rest of Nigeria insisted they all stay in Lagos. After a while desperation (and unfortunately greed) sets in, and some Lagosians try surviving by grabbing water from other states since no one cared to share. Is the solution to criminalize all of Lagos, or to understand that things are better when we all try to solve the issue of no water in the first place? When I have time, I will really like to engage you intellectually; however I know you are also part of the Fulani agenda. No problem. We will match wisdom with wisdom, truth for truth; courage for courage. |
Crime › Re: I Don't Kidnap, I Only Kill People – Aleru, Zamfara Bandit Chief by caye(m): 3:28pm On Jul 23, 2022 |
nextstep: Nekwa nonsense.
I know the first reaction is outrage about the statement, but let's all look beyond the surface and try to understand what is going on.
Fulani are much more migratory than most other ethnic groups. For centuries, their way of life has been nomadic, going about the entire Sahel region. Just like other ethnic groups, they established empires to protect their own interests, often to the detriment of others. Before you get upset, do you think the Empires of Kano, Oyo, or Benin got so big by being nice to the people in the lands they conquered?
Nomadic populations don't view land as something to be owned by individuals; sedentary/farming populations on the other hand, don't appreciate the concept of "my land is your land". I can't say either approach is wrong or right, but that they are different, equally valid, and we all need to see things from the others' perspective.
Fulani access to land and resources are being threatened by: - increased desertification - insensitivity/inability of our leadership to think holistically and long term - increased populations of Nigerians, buying what used to be grazing land and pathways - an unwillingness to "modernize", an area where Fulani leadership has failed their people.
These conditions lead - as they have in other parts of Nigeria - to desperation, disconnection from the country, banditry, and susceptibility to religious dogma. If we continue to misunderstand the reasons for what is happening, we will not be able to treat it.
I hope readers of this post will really try to reflect on what I've written, and not just post knee jerk reactions, because frankly, the menace is being practiced by all Nigerians, regardless of ethnicity. AND AT THE END, YOU SIMPLY SAID... NOTHING! |
