meshinoye: 'LAZY YOUTH': BUHARI IS TOO HONEST TO LEAD NIGERIA
“About the economy, we have a very young population. Our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. This is a very conservative one. More than 60 percent of that population is below 30. A lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare and education for free."
These are the exact words of Presdient Muhammadu Buhari. Where in the above statements did Buhari say the Nigerian youth are lazy? Or is it a case of giving a dog bad name in other to hang it? The mischiefmakers will always something to latch on. My ken of elementary English tells me there's a wide difference between 'a lot of' and the word 'all'. How and when the 'a lot of' now transmutes to 'all' is what's a mystery. Now let's analyse those statements.
"...more than 60% of that population is below 30..." Those of you ranting up and down on the social media showing your degree certificates, how many of you are below 30 years of age? What connection does that speech have with you?
"...a lot of them have not been to school and they're claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country...." Can you fault this too? If yes, why do we have almajiris in the north on the increase? If PMB is wrong, why do the average Niger Delta boy, not resident outside his region prefer to live in the creek, vandalize pipelines to make quick money after all it's their 'oyel money'?
Now let's even agree he called the youth lazy, is it not the obvious truth? What's the age range of those idiots that struck Offa, Kwara State recently killings scores of people? They are less than 30. What're they looking for? Quick money. What's the range of those doing Yahoo plus? Those involved in kidnapping ñkó? The touts killing for politicians? Your guess is as good as mine. Only recently, students of less than 25 years of age were arrested at the front gate of Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) with 3 human heads. What were they looking for? Quick money.
But in all of these attacks on Buhari, what did the 'herdsmedia' want you to believe? “Buhari said that all Nigerian youths are uneducated, very lazy and they don’t like to work.” That's the narrative sold to you. And you sheepishly and gullibly fell for it, because a man you loathe so much is at the helms. Incontrovertibly, Buhari unscripted is usually a disaster. Nigerians living in diaspora including the UK are usually more dedicated and productive than the indigent youths in those countries. Yet the British prime minister in her own presentation said "Our youths have been particularly inspiring to us". Need I say more? The hard truth is that PMB has assumed exactly the same rapid decline as GEJ's and in exactly the same manner as the latter. Defending him therefore makes one an inept doing a poor job at it. I was with PMB. In the view of recent occurrences, fake anti-corruption and security challenges with the citizenry, I have seriously reconsidered my allegiances. My allegiances lies with Nigeria and Nigerians, not some few privileged lazy politicians. The sooner you realize this, the better. |

Who are you going to be? Going with Sowore's credentials and comparing it with the "arsenals" that PMB has (the instrumentality of the FG and penchant to rig massively having pitched his own stooges in decision making positions), Sowore may not necessarily have to win. He only needs to make the statement with massive support garnered within a short period of time, achieved with whatever good policies he is able to sell to the electorate. I'm not being pessimistic, just trying to look at the odds. That however does not rule out the possibility of him winning. I mean, GEJ had the most money war chest to finance his own campaign, in dollars, yet Nigerians made the statement that his money won't earn him the mandate. I deeply want Buhari taught some lessons for his goofs by getting kicked out, for his deep seated, unrepentant nepotism and failure to tackle corruption head on as Nigerians would want. But for now, I still prefer to view things from my own perspective of reality of the odds. |

Many countries populace don't see what their leaders face from the hands of those demonic fellows. Until the west are nationally demonized as is done in Iran, North Korea, China and Russia, countries like Brazil, South Africa, Turkey and those with large pro-west politicians/masses will continue to suffer political unstability as the west are ready to sponsor any unrest that will further their interest. Absolutely right @ hooded. I've seen a video of a US reverend attesting to the West's interference in other countries' sovereignty as an evil that slowly creeps up and eats up world peace and unity. Now Trump has just declared his intention to send "new and smart" missiles, as he termed it, to Syria for the leader's use of gas warfare on Syrians. I believe this is one of Trump's funny threats, like with NK. Unsure of the allegations though but it has expectedly been denied by the Syrian government. Russia has kicked against Trump's decision and people are telling him that his "new and smart" missiles are best turned in the direction of the terrorists that have been troubling Syria for decades. If Ghadaffi's Libya disintegration can spawn this current threat to world peace, it's scarier what Syria's will result into. |

Idydarling: What about a phone that gets hot too much (esp when data is on) , and drains battery a lot. What's the solution please .
P.s it's not up to 6 months yet As you said that it happens when data is switched on, I'll presume that the network internet signal isn't so good. Perhaps your sim network services settings has 2G + 3G selected instead of having it locked on 3G (select 3G only). If the 3G services if your network is poor, the phone fluctuates between trying to establish 3G connection up from 2G. This action hogs the phone resources, battery power included. The result is your device getting hot and the battery draining quickly. I used to experience this with Glo sim on my phone and portable modem. I ported the SIM to Airtel with stable internet. Now the modem works good and the phone, being on WiFi instead of cellular data runs without the heating problems. Can also happen when you play games or do any heavy resource-hogging tasks on your phone while your data is switched on. |

They want to wipe away such legacy and principle from the polity so that no politician from that camp (and school of thought) will ascend to power in the future.
With collaboration from local politicians on the right wing, they want to limit Brazil to OAS, a regional power not a global player in synergy with china, india and russia. A whole lot of interference from the west in the affairs, surreptitiously or subtly, of other sovereign nations over decades could be said to accout for nearly 60% of unrests all over the world. Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, and in recent times Libya. The fallout of the problems created in Libya spawned the ISIS wing of Africa which has somewhat metamorphose into other factions including Boko Haram. Arms proliferation to sub-Saharan Africa can also be traced to this. It's a terrible thing. |

Nigga chill man, stop acting over righteous. See. You typed "stole 78 million naira.....which he never denied" I typed "..he admitted to that accusation" So you see what you are doing to yourself now, right? But really, I get the drum rhythm you kept beating, being another twist of reality you will want all to believe - "Yorubas on Nairaland defended Fashola with every drop of their blood". We yaff hear. Happy now? PrecisionFx: ""considering the tripartite portfolio he is given, the loudest voices against his ability to deliver were Yorubas""
Blatant Lies. Yorubas on nairaland defended Fashola with every drop of their blood, don't even go there.

Nigga chill man, stop acting over righteous. Oh come on. You know deep down that isn't entirely correct. He admitted to that accusation which majority saw as gross irresponsibility on his part. He was not spared the vituperations. No sane individual, irrespective of ethno-religious affiliation, should praise him for that. Even when he was announced minister, considering the tripartite portfolio he is given, the loudest voices against his ability to deliver were Yorubas. Presently for his mediocre performance as a minister, Yorubas don't defend him against all rightfully directed criticisms. It's basically OYO for him. |

PrecisionFx: Oga relax n stop deceiving ur self. Yorubas have been defending tiffnubu with every drop of their blood that he is not corrupt.
The Yoruba will obviously do nothing except protests (which is the only thing they did wen Abiola was killed). Or was Abiola proven guilty beyond all reasonable doubts that he rigged the 1993 election . They don't have the guts to do anything. Simple. Do you really expect them to carry arms? Would that be the wisest step to take in such circumstance or to stage a civil protest? And as for "proving Abiola guilty of wrongdoing", the real reason of Yorubas dissatisfaction was IBB's refusal to give a man his rightly acquired mandate irrespective of if he was Yoruba or not. Just do the right thing first, then if he was then charged to court and rightly convicted of digging or other wrongdoings, then by all means he should be axed. Remember Yorubas were mostly behing the SNG that demanded that the right thing of substantiating GEJ as the president should be done. This was irrespective of if he was from another ethnic group. I held that same strong conviction. I always say it that if GEJ had been the president Nigerians hoped to have, unifying the diversity and refused to be carried away, no Buhari from Jupiter would be able to withstand him. But the moment GEJ began to derail despite all entreaties, well, he could no longer be the knight in shining armour. Ditto for PMB. I only hope that Nigerians will be presented with a better alternative to PMB that will give him a run for his money come 2019. |

He was guilty and rightly did the time, though apparently and to my chagrin, he remained unfazed. But don't they all? Those convicted criminals still raise their heads up high. Ibori had a heroic welcome. Yorubas generally vilify OBJ more for his wrongdoings (he has some sides worthy of encomiums) which some who are not his kinsmen will rather overlook. He said one thing and that is one of the things I praise him for: He said he was not the president of Yorubas but the president of Nigerians and as such administered his governance, I believe, in that line of not being nepotistic. But among other sundry misteps, that his illegal 3rd term drama which required wasting so much unnecessary monies to bribe those gullible lawmakers thereby igniting that fire of greed in those chambers - a monster which has become gargantuan today, is one of my grudges against him. |
