Job creation.

Now next in line is to make sure the parts for their equipments and trucks are sourced for and locally manufactured within Nigeria. This will ensure another round of people indirectly employed by this action by Lagos State.

A job well done.

The twitter post that he deleted because of fear for his people who murdered an innocent girl and Nigerian student is still hanging, awaiting a proper condemnation from someone who aspires to be the "president of all Nigerians".

Babinski:

It is really annoying when revisionist historians try to underplay the contributions of the good, accommodating and illustrious nature of the Yoruba people to the success of the Lagos we all know now.

For those who try to claim that the Igbos or the FCT status of Lagos is largely what made Lagos what it is today, you need to study the Lagos history for better understanding.

Lagos was forcefully under threat of violence, made a British colony on 5 March 1862. By 1872, Lagos was a cosmopolitan trading center and between 1890 and 1897 it had established a protectorate over most of Yorubaland.

Colonial Lagos developed into a busy, cosmopolitan port, with an architecture that blended Victorian and Brazilian styles. The Brazilian element was imparted by skilled builders and masons who had returned from Brazil. The black elite was composed of English-speaking "Saros" from Sierra Leone and other emancipated slaves who had been repatriated from Brazil and Cuba. By 1872, the population of the colony was over 60,000, of whom less than 100 were of European origin. In 1876, imports were valued at £476,813 and exports at £619,260. This is more than 30 years begore the amalgamation that became Nigeria.

By contrast the revenue from the Southern Protectorate which covered Oil Rivers area in present day Nigeria, the Aro Confederacy, Kingdoms of Benin and Bonny and Akwa Akpa (modern Calabar) and Oron Nation by 1900 was £535,902. Revenue from Northern protectorate was even worse a d it is clear the amalgamation was done to fund the poor Northern protectorate from the prosperous South, from which the Lagos Colony clearly stood out.

While Lagos has the fortune of being along the coast, that distinction is not limited to Lagos within Nigeria. But the accommodating and illustrious nature of its Yoruba people contributed largely to what it has become. The ease of doing business in Lagos, the non-discrimination and welcoming attitude of the Yoruba people cannot be overlooked or over
emphasized.

BreconHills:

This argument about FCT is very tired. Abuja has been FCT since 1976/1985, what is its IGR?

Let's look at the data. ( this is for people who can read)

Abuja became FCT in 1976 but let's even say IBB moved there in 1985. In 1985 The population of lagos was 3.5m with a growth rate of 6.35%. We all know that northerners moved all Federal ministries to Abuja including the Nigeria Ports Authority and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority to Abuja by 1990 meaning Lagos no longer had the multiplier effects of port and airport revenues

Because there is a Federal port or airport in lagos does not mean that Lagos takes the revenue. Got it? Hang on I am not done.

In 1999 when Tinunbu and the Alliance for Democracy took over in Lagos the IGR of lagos was 600m monthly and the population was 7m. Today in 2022 that IGR is 45bn monthly and the population is 25m. All this massive change under the same party from 1999 - 2022.

So the question I want to ask you is - if the FCT status and its subvention and taxes left lagos state between 1976 - 1985 where did the growth in IGR come from? If it came from business activities and not the FGN - why have other states not been able to replicate it? Remember that the government of Lagos state was in opposition to the PDP at the centre from 1999 - 2015. So how did the FGN now develop lagos between 1999-2015? In fact the obasanjo led PDP FGN refused to pay lagos its statutory allocation for over 6 years!

Ok so it is the hard working people from the east or the north that developed lagos abi? Please tell me what lagos listed companies they own on the Nigeria stock exchange? Or is it trading and building of houses that increased IGR? How much tax is paid by this group - personal income tax o. Remember that company tax is Federal tax.

Look stop this FCT argument. It's so weak. The reason lagos has grown financially is:
1. There was a comprehensive master plan that has been in place since 1999 that EVERY administration in Lagos has followed. No other state has had that stability.
2. Lagos is conducive for business because there are no laws or practices that victimise people from anywhere on the grounds of tribe, religion or gender. How many areas of Nigeria welcome non indigenes. Some neighbouring states are even exchanging hostilities in the SE. When oil companies were forced to go to Rivers, Bayelsea and oil producing states did they not run back to Lagos when MEND and Delta Avengers started on them. Which company in its right mind would want to be haunted by BH in the North East or Ipob/UGM in the SE?

Lagos is what Nigeria should be, a detribalized state that does not victimise non residents and which has developed the best infrastructure in Nigeria. Period.

By the way, I am not trying to convince you, I am merely using your contribution to memorialize the facts. Someone else might find this useful years from now. I realise that the Lagos was FCT argument is more of an emotional argument because people don't like Tinubu or SW people and so want to refuse credit. That's fine. But attributing lagos success to (let us even call it 15 years of) FCT when it has not been FCT for 37 years and of that 37 years 23 years have been under the same AD, ADP, APC party is unintelligent.

Please I don't have time for back and forth. I will only reply you if you use data. I dont do dk measuring contests or insults.

Heh! I hope this scuffle will not eventually degenerate into third world war like Trump "prophesied" ó.

Alaska is US property, originally owned by Russia but sold to the former for some shikini money.

And before you come and contest the fact that a whole swathe of territories cannot possibly be traded, Nigeria was sold to Britain by the Portuguese also for shikini money. So somehow the region occupied by Nigeria is owned by the British.

That is the wicked illegality that was perpetrated by these so called Caucasians on humanity, abruptly ending centuries old civilizations and cultures of dark skinned people who had lived with their own natural way of thinking, fighting, "jawing", "warring", living and civilization. Then foisting their own civilizations on them.

The French also did theirs with the francophone africakln countries which they still have a firm grip on up till today. The Caucasians also did something similar with India and the rest of Asia. Ethiopia was about the only African nation that did not experience colonisation, lucky them.

But it seems this current wave of deglobalization is about putting an end to these evil.

Decentdave:
I dreamt, and in my dream RUSSIA was wiped out of the surface of the earth by it own nuclear weapon..

Actually, the scenario is likely to be the opposite. I am afraid for the US. The country has chewed more than it can bite such that is is fast losing allies. India, Saudi Arabia and some African countries are no longer staunch US allies. The US is complicating it by also siding a country they themself declared a terrorist state like Pakistan against India. They destroyed Venezuela and plunged that country into recession, now they are thinking of running back to beg Venezuela to open their tap of oil since KSA (Saudi Arabia) under OPEC plus has denied the US their wish.

The US is also invading Haiti at the moment because the people are protesting against the puppet president installed by the US.

Some countries in the EU are beginning to hate themselves for blindly following the US in placing sanctions on Russia when they could have taken better diplomatic decisions that will address their disagreement with Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Now that they (those countries) are out of gas to survive the winter and the US bombing of the Nord stream one pipe to finally bury any hope of those European countries reconciling with Russia, they are now beginning to realize that the US may not really care about them so much as they believed.

Germany is experiencing citizen protests at the moment because of the coming winter and also inability of factories to work because of lack of gas.

A lot is happening, but it seems the US is fast losing the love it had from her friends.

Talking about some installers and items provided, I just bumped into this CC that was installed for, not someone, but an association.

Mind you as an association, pricing and money is not the problem and they tried enough of accountability by forming a committee that looked into the project and have various installers forward their quotations and underwent interview.

I'm displeased and concerned because I am a financial member of that body, though have not had active physical participation for about two years now due to travels.

Apparently, the installer went for the damn cheap/possibly fake items. You should see the names of the solar panels and batteries (flooded LA) provided, you'll be painfully amused.

I will only give the picture of the CC here and withhold pictures of other items installed for personal reasons (has nothing to do with the installer who I don't even know sef).

I have heard of "XtraPower" battery. Didn't know that there is now an iteration of a CC called "XtraPOWFP"

That is the little I want to let out for now.

Bro sincerely I did not avoid it ó. I just didn't want to do the calculation for you as (I no want rack my brain too much). That is why I based my point on Valto making his price point revolve around direct experience with purchases and procurement as compared with someone who just bought off of another and decide to slap an arbitrary price.

Besides asides from the fact that I have a rough idea of the price setpoint for DIY LFP, the internet is there to compare prices. So if anyone inflates, people doing due diligence will quickly decipher the difference.

But if you insist, your profile fits into my radius of patronage price-wise and quality wise. At least for instance we know the history of Valto's sources of cells and also for a few other DIYers here who package cells and that is enough to set minds at rest. It's just that I haven't needed to get cells of late.

But even if I go buy from you, just know that as is customary, I won't go down without fighting haggling. cheesy

Many people want to judge what a fair price should be but are gainfully employed in companies that inflate prices when dealing with their clients or get government contracts at over inflated prices.

Well, I'm glad I don't have a log in my eyes before opting to clear the speck in my brother's eye. That actually is my philosophy cheesy

So for ya information, I don't inflate arbitrarily, for it is to me an antisocial attitude. You must have read here before that I have some businesses which I somehow invested solar power supply in, a few shops being one of such and managed by wify.

So I'm glad to tell you that in line with my principle of not being selfish and a price gouger, every item in that place is strategically made to be cheaper for radius of kilometers around. This increases patronage. These discounts isn't gonna ruin the business, but it motivates patronage nevertheless and guess what, the profit from the turnover makes up for the discounts on items. Not just that, I encourage that they accept returns when customers complain about items and with such people, an arrangement or agreement is reached where both parties do not feel cheated.

People around say to my wife that this is easy for her to do because as they put it, she does not feed with proceeds from the business. But I daresay that it's all about being principled rightly.

I also have a few employees and I also make it a duty to be fair to them in remuneration, and I am truly happy with myself and with my conscience.

It's a social responsibility to be fair in pricing, not price gouging like many will want to justify. So I can boldly judge what a fair price should be.

You made valid points.
However this issue of insane profits may not be true at all times.
Example a 280ah brand new grade a eve cell is about 110usd in china...add freight of about 15usd to 20usd per cell ,plus 2 to 5months duration before you get the cells. +Risk of total loss, should anything happen to the ship in the high seas, the forwarder will likely not offer any repayment+ flunctuating value of naira vs dollar

1. Question 1 -- what do you think is a fair price to sell that 1 cell in naira?

2. Question 2--- if you go ahead to build a battery pack with 16 pieces of these cell+bms+ decent metal case etc, to give u 14kwh pack. How much do you think is a fair price.

I am actually not out for those that are reasonable on their pricing, putting all procurement costs on the table. I myself have sold a few packs. For instance, valto offered 24v100ah as 380k starting price depending on if you want wooden case or metal case. When I got three of similar specs with plastic case and from a reputable provider almost three years ago, it was around 230k each but inflation and naira-dollar discrepancies have messed things up hence the increased price.

Dont be surprised if what valto offers for 380k is offered by another vendor somewhere for 480k, and while in the case of the former, he based his final costs on first hand experiences with parts purchases and workmanship but some dude somewhere who just bought it off of another company not even sure of the true capacity and quality of the innards will now offer his for 480k and even perhaps with overdeclared capacity. Meanwhile the same vendor may have in stock another product that he offers that buyer for 350k but also with much less capacity and quality, a fact which he knows but unknown to the buyer. All he needs to convince the buyer is to say that the 480k brand is only that expensive because it has a strong household name. A newbie will happily fall for the scam in that complex mixup, and may prefer the 350k pack because naturally humans want to spend less.

Now that is a vendor deliberately making available poor choices for the buyer who couldn't buy the good thing because the vendor had inflated the price of the good one. So we can't heap all the blame on buyers that "they like to buy cheap products".

because Nigerians wants to buy high quality/real capacity at low prices. almost all the lithium battery company in Nigeria are towing the same line.

What I have come to realise is that Nigerians are pliable so much that once they realize that they can't get compromised quality at any place, they'll definitely look for the money to get the real quality. The problem is sellers/manufacturers that make "substandard" option available because they want to quickly sell market. Another reason is sellers that put insanely high profit margins on authentic products thereby discouraging overwhelming patronage. In saner climes, a cap is always placed on profits you are expected to make on any services offered.

I have been following this discussion and nobody has called anyone names.
I have watched the original YouTube video that exposed the "fraud" by Felicity. What I am hoping to learn is that if that was a glitch (a defective batch) and why were they not recalled like they do with motor vehicles or is it Felicity company policy to consistently and fraudulently over-rate their batteries?
It will add to body of knowledge if an expert like you have done a capacity test on recently manufactured Felicity battery.

Have you honestly found "recall" as a vocabulary in Nigerian manufacturers' dictionary? Hehehehe.

Few days ago cos of the exigencies, I purchased a usb charger from a roadside truckware pusher. Deep down I had the strong urge it was not gonna work and I was right. I got to where I was going and it was nonsense. The following day, the guy had switched location and new guys have replaced him. Now I suspect that was a deliberate cycling done everyday by these bunch to throw scammed buyers off their scent.

What I'm trying to say is that the Nigerian culture has not matured to the point where manufacturers or sellers are held into account/or accept responsibilities themselves. They know this and therefore dump substandard products here. Few posts back we discussed about Nigerian/African version of LG TVs and ACs (made in LG factory for Africa) versus the versions made for Europe and North America.

We are no less humans and deserve what is as good especially when we are ready to pay for such. But a situation where you are being sold duds for the price of the real deal, like Felicity tries to do, is annoying. And some middlemen/sellers are always complicit in this racketeering cos it is them that tell the manufacturers to make substandard specs for them and they smile to the bank's with insane profits.

I vividly recall on this thread when lithium first took the mainstream with members here and we were all wowed by the performance over LA, we expressed the worry that the expectations might soon be cut short when the markets start getting flooded, like it did with LA, with substandard and fake LFP. We didn't even envisage it will be in the form of overrated capacity or use of salvaged cells let alone it being done by a popular household name like Felicity. At worst, we expected something like "FELOCITY" as opposed to the real "Felicity", you know like it does with "SQNY", "PANASOANIC" or "NOKLA" as the usual methods.

Why not just put 10kwh nameplate on actual 10kwh and sell it as the price they still sell it.

Differing views is acceptable in the spirit of national inclusion and unification. This is history being laid down and reference to it in future has the potential to further solidify the unity of the south.

This is why Yorùbás can gladly beat their chest that Nigerian history is replete with their fight for justice, fairness and entrenchment of democracy for Nigerians. MKO, Kudirat sacrificed their lives for it. Gani Fawehinmi, the lawyer and human right activist, was a torn in the flesh of Abacha military junta. Tinubu, Wọlé Soyinka used Radio Kudirat to fight off the military junta. Wọlé Soyinka and Fálànà et Al fought to make sure that the doctrine of necessity required to swear in the vice president (who was being oprresed by the cabal then) when there is an ailing or incapacitated president is effected, something which effectively brought in Jonathan, a non-Yoruba, as the de factor president. It is the same Soyinka and with Bakare et al that condemned GEJ when he began failing in his duties towards Nigerians who voted him in. Please note that at this time, Soyinka and Bakare and indeed every other southerners who called out GEJ for his ineptitude at that time automatically became the object of derision and abuse for every Igbos that cared to express blind support for GEJ. Of those that condemned GEJ, the Yorùbás were called jealous, and the Ijaws/few Igbos were called bastards. Even the Ijaws (GEJ's south south people) were no match for the Igbos in the defence of their brother whom the Igbos already believed was an acceptable representation of south Eastern Nigeria in governance.

All these are to one end - justice, fairness and equity for the oppressed.

In Yorùbá, the elder is expected to be fair to all parties. A saying goes that "a newly born infant should not have a distorted head in the presence of an elderly person in the market place".

What I am however unsure of is if the Ndigbo will have done the same if roles were reversed and I have valid reasons. Some are as follows:

¶ The unnatural tagging of Lagos as no man's land when it is obvious that Calabar and Lokoja were once the nation's capital and yet not tagged such anathema by the Yorùbás. Even the audacity to tag Abuja the current capital city as no man's land cannot be mustered by any one.

¶ The mocking, though positive tag of the Yorubas as "accommodators" and the unnatural opportunism to use such to cause roforofo issues. Meanwhile such accommodative reception cannot be said to be offered to the accommodators when roles are reversed. Note that the back and forth of this particular name calling, when it was finally an acceptable norm among some Igbos, was what led to the eventual coinage of similar word by the Yorubas to counter the Igbos - the word "developers", which is meant as a derogatory term but a positive truth nonetheless.

¶ The deliberate and diabolical distortion of history to paint the liberal south west as the villain when it comes to narrating history, deliberately leaving out the good and gallant actions which are interjections of history by the Yorùbás, actions aimed towards fostering national unity, avoiding vendetta and entrenching togetherliness amongst folks in Southern Nigeria. Meanwhile the narrators paint themselves as the saint and the victimized at every turn of the narrations.

One example is the protection and caretaking of properties in the south west that belonged to fleeing Igbos during the unfortunate civil war and the subsequent return of those properties to the rightful owners when they returned after the war. This includes the rent accrued during the time of their absence.

Another example is the courageous death of colonel Fajuyi. Aguiyi Ironsi (from the south East) was his guest when the coup plotters from Northern Nigeria meant to assassinate him in Ibadan, the then capital city of the old western region. Colonel Fajuyi knowing that such has the tendency of negatively affecting history forever in southern Nigeria maintained that he will not allow them to assassinate Aguiyi Ironsi as it will give the impression of complicity of the Yorùbás particular at a time when the integrity of the thread of national unity was been threatened. He said they will have to go thru him first, and indeed they did.

They killed him (Fajuyi), then went inside to assassinate Aguiyi Ironsi.

I can go on and on.

The elders and honest leaders of South Eastern Igbos know all these history and some of them try as much as possible to tell the truth if it. Unfortunately their voices are being drowned out by the majority emotional and restless youths of today who believe that their hitherto friend has always been their arch enemy. They strongly hold believe these false narratives and therefore enact all their unwholesome attitude along these false storyline and further widen that gorge of disagreement between the two major owners of Southern Nigeria.

The disadvantage of these is that thes current youth pass these false narratives down to their offspring who also swallow such hook line and sinker. The same reasons why history was abolished from the Nigerian school curriculum is the same reason why these ones will refuse to make due diligence for private study to learn and prevent an enemy to tell their own history for them.

Afeniferi is The Intellectual Leader of The Yoruba since these are men who dinned with the "great" Awolowo. I think PA Adebanjo is more enlightened and more intelligent than Awolowo. I'm Yoruba and I hold Awolowo with very little regard. Vote Peter Obi.

I highly doubt that you are. No Yoruba holds Awolowo with little regard, if for anything at all his drive towards free education and development of the Southern Region which many of our fathers enjoyed in those days.

He may not be perfect across board, but unlike the politicians of today, he had genuine and selfless plans towards development of the Yorùbás who owned the south west.

He established OBAFEMI Awolowo University, but against all "reasoning" of today politicians, refused to have it established in his home state of Ogun, but put it in Ile-Ife, the ancestral home and origin of the Yorùbás.

He was not overtly rich at death. He was modestly wealthy unlike our politicians of today who will steal their people blind while leaving them in penury and poverty.

You disregard him, but the British fear him because of his intelligence. They feared his collaboration with Enahoro who was equally brilliant and so they (Britain) blackmailed Nnamdi Azikiwe to back-stab the Yorùbás I order for the Northern oligarchy, which the brit saw as loyal to them, to clinch the prime ministerial position.

If your axe to grind is with Tinubu, I may not really have much to say in his defence because of his many fallacies even though he has his good parts too, but saying Awolowo is not a hero to a Yoruba makes me to doubt your ancestral claim.

Please history is there for us to learn from and plot our future.

Childish fóolish men all around. You see why I don't take this people serious, they act childish and stupid always. What's the essence of sharing the screenshot online for the whole world to know and see ? probably he's among men that say women should have the guts to approach men they love instead of dying in silence and here a lady with gut approach the idiot and he stupidly spread the message across. If you don't like her, you should have told her privately that it's not going to work out , rather than feeling yourself as demigod. Who is he by the way? nonsense

So much for women that think men really matters in their lives when dildos is always available.

See this one come spoil am. You were really vibing from the outset, but terminated it with a bad crash.

As a guy, I sincerely wouldn't relish easing it out with a sex doll when sweet ladies abound, although you're unlikely to be one of those few sweet ones that remain.

Why would anyone prefer s3x toys primarily over the real deal? Eeew.
