Eeya. I think Oyetola and the APC in Osun should just drop the case and work hard to endear themselves to OSUN people before the next election.

All they need do is to play their opposition role well. If PDP messes up, APC can bank on that to shoot themselves to limelight again. Of course the PDP should also be very careful, more like walking on eggshells, because the opposition is breathing down their necks.

He still has one more term constitutionally, so he still has one more shot at the governorship. Variety is the spice of life, he should let Osun people test variety as they want.

Politics / Re: Jubril Gawat: Lagos Blue Line Rail Will Be Electric by ceaser: 3:22pm On Aug 18, 2022
Then Lagos had better fast track the licences to generate her own power without the constraint of the Fulani led government of forcing the IPPC to channel every generated watt into the national grid while they then wait for the FG to "transmit" whatever fraction of the total grid power they deem fit that Lagos needs; same way they have done the IGR of every state since the time Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi cancelled the great famed regional system of government that was favourable to hardworking Nigerians across the different regions.

If Lagos fails to do this, the Fulani head of PHCN will just wake up in Abuja one day and say, "zis Lagos fifu are enjoying za train too much fah! Shut zown za fawa supply zo Lagos and stop zat train from functioning".

Remember that it was Buhari during his first stint as Head of State that scuttled Jakande's Lagos' dream of having the first metro train station in subsaharan Africa.

It was they that vehemently opposed the take off of Amotekun, when they have already had an unconstitutional backed JTF armed with AK47 in their region for years. They were so happy that Ebubeagu and ESN were failures.

If regional government was not practiced during the time of Awolowo, I'm sure the Fulani would have stopped him from establishing the first ever television station in Africa (earlier than France did), so also would he have been prevented from building OAU Ile-Ife and also stopped from having a Southern Region embassy in the UK as at then.

"LP" orders go thru the same weeks of purgatory that NIPOST is renowned for.

I just ordered for an item (cleaning/sweeping machine) on Aliexpress and it will be delivered through DHL. Will I have to pay extra charges at DHL when it arrives?

If the item isn't too heavy and customs don't think it as consequential, you may escape them. But if they should ever think of it to be in the leagues of smart devices like iPhone and android phones dem, you'll pay heavy.

That's me.
I'll call that delivery guy's number and follow up from there. Thanks

Oh, okay. Ńa you be Jude.

Perhaps the guy simply signed it as received with the sincere intention to look for you/contact you what ever it takes and have the item delivered rather than wasting time repeatedly updating the tracking information with "recipient did not pick his call".

Please contact him with the number on the tracking info as soon as possible.

When parcels are delivered especially by the speedaf bike guys, they usually have the recipient append his/her signature in a log book against the parcel number and also sign on the parcel itself beside the tracking qr code. Then they use their mobile phone to snap all these as evidence before they hand the parcel over to you. The update on the tracking always reflects the identity of the person who collected the item. There has been a time when my Mother-in-law collected one as I was absent, after it was signed for and handed over, right in front of the house gate the dispatch guy called to inform me who signed for the item and I thanked him. Later, I was amused to see the update as "parcel signed for by grandma".

In cases where I visit their office to pick my "R" items even though they should be home delivered, they use their phone to scan the qr code on the item and it immediately updates on the tracking info. Then they hand it over to you. If you're new, they will require some form of identification to confirm you are the one the item is meant for but in my own case, I'm already a regular there.

From my interaction, I also discovered that these two delivery routes (the speedaf people with office and the speedaf guys on dispatch rides) are completely different arrangements with no official interaction or connection whatsoever. I initially thought they work together. With whatever algorithm DC-LOS uses which I am yet to figure out, your item gets distributed to either of both terminations and from the tracking info of either "T3" or "T2" (meaning termination, I think), I'm usually able to tell which of these two that I have encounters with will likely bring my item.

Note that if there is a T2 and T3, then there will likely be a T1. But I've not had an encounter with a T1 before.

Also there seems to have been an update to the DCs (Distribution Centre) of recent. Initially it used to be DC-LOS) and then to Termination (T) for the south west, but there are three items that I'm currently tracking and realised that there is now a DC-IBD where the item first went to from DC-LOS.

So in case things turn ugly, ask for all those evidences and of course you can take it up with speedaf main office along those lines of argument.

Since someone is advertising blue carbon lithium battery, I decided to give back to the group by quoting this persons feedback.
Batteries are too expensive to be buying substandard ones in this Buhari economy.
This is my own little way of giving back to the group. grin grin grin

Then I guess, as has been the practice here, DIY is the way forward.

Worst case scenario, for those yet to learn the tricks and ways of DIY lithium, they can get from vendors here who make prefabricated packs using the same cells that they sell to DIYers.

If you can't afford premium ones from authorised distributors, then you can make your own "premium" packs using trusted cells. You can even add bits and pieces of "bells and whistles" (to quote Níyì) yourself. You only need to do some researches.

The world that has been created with the advent of LFP now can be likened to the biblical scenario when the temple drape to the inner holy of holies was torn at the death of Christ, thereby creating an expressway direct contact between men and baba God.

That is why you have many startup auto companies like BYD able to invest in BEVs, making it big time and threatening to push legacy automakers like Toyota who are stuck in ICEs and hybrid age into oblivion.

Do you know the story of that dude in Northern Nigeria that had a fleet of korope powered by LFP? I think I recently saw a headline that he has been able to build another vehicle that has integrated solar panels provide on-the-go charging. Crude I'll say, but it works nonetheless and in such scenarios, improvements is the only thing one can hope for.

Uganda and Rwanda already have locally made electric commuter buses plying their cities made majorly from materials sourced locally. There is one Nigerian professor of Eastern Nigeria extraction that is reputed to have built e-bikes in an African country where he works. Nigeria's loss, I'll say.

I just don't know why this innoson guy has not thought of having BEVs in his lineup. Even if it is to start with a tiny car, affordable, small but with ample passenger capacity to see the adoption. I sincerely wish that with the resource and experience in his disposal, he dares that niche and start the revolution.

OLED is more like the return of plasma
it is also subjevct to burn in, and has higher power consumption than LED
that said, i still plan on buying one eventually, for the 120hz freshrate - lets see how that will match up with a high end pc/console

From my experience with OLED, I'll say it is an improvement. Rememeber that with OLED, not all pixels necessarily light up at the same time unlike with LED that you need the backlight to be on most times. With OLED, black pixels don't light up.

With plasma, the "fluorescent backlights" are power hoggers, as much as 350 watts for a 39 inch TV at times. But of course, the panels last the longest, is the most rugged and is usually the brightest in picture rendition.

I agree with the burn in issues of OLED. But I have not had that problem yet with mine. I sincerely hope it never happens wink

I don't know much about technical or electrical aspect of the TV. This is the full name: LG 70” UHD 4K Smart TV with AI ThinQ 70UN7380PVC

Actually, I now realized that wattage I saw was for audio, I guess that's the speaker wattage.

That model will definitely have power saving. If I'm to hazard a guess, I'll say you can get as low as 40 watts consumption at full power saving mode, give or take 5 watts

For you to confirm the details of the power saving capacity, you will need a watt meter. While it is plugged in to the wattmeter, note the consumption indicated at full blast and then the consumption at maximum power saving mode.

I think it sells for around 7k. You will need this vital device handy in your journey with solar energy.

Check individual cell voltage

10psc = 12v

Some 12v inverters can work at 15v max

Thank you for the input.

I am also well aware that NI-Cad Hydride come with 1.2v nominal. But the problem with this one is that it seems the individual cells have been welded together to form the bar you can see in that picture. There is absolutely no way, at least I can't see any rims, one can pry apart those individual cells.

So it seems they are treated as a pack of 8 cells in series to form a single bar (like a chocolate bar) which is treated as single battery. I doubt if there is any form of battery management between those series arrangement.

Then each 8.5v bar is put in series with another bar, but this time using a copper bus bar. These copper bus bar connection is done for each battery bar in series until a nominal voltage of 100v is attained in each pack you can see in the picture.

The best I can achieve in breaking down the battery is the 8.4v per bar. At the bus bar connection between each successive bars in series, a balance wire could be placed much like we do for Lithium series connection. That is at each 8.4v point.

That is my problem. I'm not sure there is a BMS for 8.5v cell balancing.

You're absolutely right, the TV draws lots of power from the generator whenever it's starting up. The wattage I saw was definitely wrong.

For the laptop, you're also right, it's a workstation.

Thanks so much for your comment.

First thing, is the TV panel of Plasma, LCD, LED or OLED?

The types are improvements one over the other, generation after generation and so is also the power consumption improvements (sometimes significantly) from one generation to the other.

Midway into the LCD generation, manufacturers of panels and TVs have begun to include power saving options in their products so you can get much reduced consumption depending on your choice. You only need to sacrifice some brightness of the TV panel to acquire that reduced level of consumption and this option is usually in the picture settings.

By the generation of LED, this feature has gotten so much improvement because a LED panel in itself does not consume as much power as an LCD panel does, size for size, brightness for brightness. Then there is the added feature of power saving which further reduces the consumption to as much as 20% of the nameplate consumption. As is with LCD, you also need to sacrifice some brightness to acquire that. In modern TVs, other smart features like background operations, WiFi, Bluetooth etc may also be turned off temporarily to get much more power saving level, just like you would do with your mobile phones.

By OLED (called QLED in some products) generation, further improvements expectedly over LED has been developed.

So your 120 watts nameplate consumption 70 inch TV may end up consuming as little as 35w to 40w if you activate the power saving modes.

Solar power users are encouraged to procure power saving appliances and I have seen situations where users have decommissioned fully functioning appliances in favour of modern power saving counterparts. Yours truly is one of such people.

So again to my opening statement. Which of those TV panels is your own TV?

So I have this battery pack salvaged from a hybrid vehicle. I was excited it was going to be lithium hoping that there will at least be a fair offset of the money spent for a replacement battery for the vehicle.

I was shocked to find out that Toyota has all along in their hybrid models used NiCad Hydride batteries, even for 2010 models o. So what I have is just Nickel Hydride cells. Bad market. I later researched and found out that full BEVs have preference for Lithium while the hybrids seem to have penchance for Nickel hydride.

No wonder you tube videos are replete with DIYers that have repurposed Nissan leaf and Tesla batteries meanwhile you will hardly see any videos of Toyota prius, Highlander hybrid or lexus hybrids batteries being re-purposed.

But I still wan use the battery sha

There were no videos of teardown of this particular model battery, so I decided to go "vawulently" on the tear down with the help of a welder on my street using his grinder.

I measured each cell pack and found out it ranges between 8.53v and 8.7v.

So now the problem. Shey BMS dey for this kain battery laidis àbí I just dey waste my time? grin grin

Please ideas will be appreciated.

Good evening bosses.
1. Please does anyone know if there are any quality inverter 1.5-2kva capacity that is 12v and has inbuilt Charge Controller. Those I have seen are 24v.

2. If I later decide to get a standalone Charge Controller can I still pair it with an hybrid inverter that already has an inbuilt one?

Thank you in anticipation of your responses

WCUB3:

Still looking forward to response.

Forgive the waiting. It happens at times. But people here are usually always happy to chip in ideas.

For your second question, it is very possible and doable to connect another MPPT in series parallel (on the battery) with a hybrid with functioning MPPT SCC.

Just make sure that the new MPPT SCC is on an entirely different solar array, not the one that supplies the hybrid inverter.

As per your first question, such inverters with the specs exist. People who have used same or vendors who stock such will likely answer that question.

Error corrected.

grin grin Sincerely, I can't tell. That's because I have not encountered such CC. But I want to assume that because the light intensity and power directed to the CC from the panels will be gradual as daylight gradually intestifies in the morning, then there is ample time for the CC to adjust itself and probably initiate a protect function.

But perhaps if a large current input is suddenly put on it from a hot midday sun while it is not connected to a battery, then that blue smoke may be produced.

Thanks.

My confusion is that Shey no be say dem don dey take am back go China. Both are periods far outside (before) the time I placed the order or the latest reasonable update on it of 2-08-22 of arrival at destination country.

The only reasonable explanation I could think of, except someone here gives a more realistic reason from which I really wish to learn, is that the tracking number was perhaps used once before around February this year for another buyer and again reassigned to my own item in July. The system may still have not deleted the update from the February usage of the tracking number.

Aswear, I never jam this kain confusing update before. grin grin

Technology Market / Re: This Thread Is Only For Aliexpress Shopper by ceaser: 5:02am On Aug 09, 2022
So I came across this case which even to me seems strange.

This is the same tracking number checked on three different trackers: "Parcels", "17track and" track24". The item had been a long time coming after the last update of arrival in-country 7 days ago and ordinarily I wouldn't have bothered so much since it was SingPost that will end up being handled by our very efficient NIPOST. In instances with NIPOST, even waiting till 90 days period expiry is not being crazy.

But this morning I just decided to check if it had gone thru any processes in-country. The tracking in the middle screenshot left me a little confused. First, I have the impression that it probably might have been returned because of the statement in red. But then another information above it gave transit of 16th February 2022, 00:00 hours, with the tag info "item sent abroad". Yet the info below it and on the other trackers show movement within the period I ordered the item.

I ordered for this thing during the barter card closure rush few weeks ago.

Biko, who understand the movement of the item ó? Shey dem don dey carry am go where e no know?

Please open dispute and get back your money no matter how small. Take pictures of the item, juxtapose with screenshots of the page where the seller claimed it has DACs and file as evidences.

If many hundred buyers also decide not to open dispute like yours, you can imagine the hundreds of dollars that seller might be cashing in illegally.

Hello guys, the lithium battery is corvus AT6500 125 48 from a Canadian company. I am not able to tell the exact lithium type.
I think the batteries were left for about than 10 years and not 5 as I previously stated.
The output voltages are basically showing zero for many of them.

This is not unexpected. The BMS has shut off. That may be a good sign that the individual cells will still retain their charge as lithium batteries are not known to self-discharge as bad as Lead acid does. Self discharge is something like 0.1v per year, I think.

ojesymsym:

A message to the manufacturers has them saying once the voltage is less than 32V, it cannot be charged. This is expected anyway.
The alternative is to open it up and see what is inside and find a way to charge the cells individually, unfortunately, I am not in direct control of it.

Any reason as to why solar cannot be used?

From my own experience with use of LFP, I have not been able to successfully wake up any pack that the BMS has shut down due to deep discharge. Once the battery shuts off, the MPPT CC input is somewhat compromised. Using a CC requires an initial input of the correct voltage from the battery so that it initializes to a default 12v, 24v or 48v battery input. Then every other thing including the ability to charge falls into place.

Once the battery input is compromised, it tends to shut off charging output by limiting the current from the panels. That's for CCs that have that kind of battery disconnect protection. At least I know that for PowMr.

uche393:
I saw this on Facebook, e really shock me o.

Oh boy! House don nearly burn ńa.

The fault seems to be a short in the panel output wires as can be seen from the burnt tracks. The panels nearest to the wire also got parts burnt.

With such number of panels, the current coming out of it will be massive such that a short in the output wires could be disastrous. I can only imagine what the volts will do to a person who touches the output from those array when it is pumping out on sunny days.
