Minimum wage for both fed. State and Lg workers is supposed to be top on the list considering how costly things have become in the market
Those in the private sector have all jacked up prices of everything to meet up with high cost of living, except civil servants who have no power to increase their monthly earnings.
brother, can you imagine? What suppose to be ontop list is now under the list, so far they have their 35k on top, they didn't bother again, is that a correct union?

Autos / Re: How To Quickly Stop Your Car When The Brake Fails by CedarHoldings: 10:06am On Oct 02, 2023
Jazzman01:
I think Engineers should work on this issue and come up with safety measures. One of these measures would be to introduce redundancy In the braking system. An extra braking system should be incorporated different from the handbrake which is mostly used for packing and not useful for emergency braking on medium to high speed. Redundancy will really help in averting total failure.
They have already have it in advance cars, na money remain to buy it, the brake system detect obstacles in front of you that period and it will come to total stop, but only in advanced cars.

Everything happened in few seconds

It left me with one thing... phobia for driving

I don't think I'll ever touch steering again.
No I wasn't drunk, I was avoiding a reckless Keke driver

Politics / Re: Indefinite Strike: NLC Set To Announce Suspension Of Indefinite Action by CedarHoldings: 7:43am On Oct 02, 2023
adioolayi:
Well....with the momentum the strike notice has generated, it would have had devastating effects on our fragile economy if allowed to go on..

I must commend the NLC and TUC leadership for this struggle...it wouldn't have been easy...

They technically forced the FGN hand....the President announced NGN 25,000 support to wages of low cadre FGN workers....NLC and TUC were able to force the hands of FGN to raise this to NGN 35,000 and also included everyone under FGN payroll...this is huge achievement in my own opinion. We can argue the amount is still small considering the social economic realities of Nigeria today...but it is something achieved by these pressure groups.

They also achieved Tax waivers on Diesel..that's also huge.

For me..it's a win-win situation for FGN and Labour unions.

My headache now is the fate of State Government workers and many of us working at private establishment...this struggle, as usual doesn't cover us..

State workers will have to start their own fight with their state governor.

No one will fight for private organisation workers. Our hope lies only on positive results of economic policies...FGN need to sit-up..we need to start seeing his positive results
can you imagine, is state workers don't belong to NLC, they leave them at the mercy of their governors, some have not paid Sept salary now.

I am sorry if i sounded insensitive to your plight.

Truth is, you need to get over whatever reason you think other people are more than you.
Those your interviewers shit, eat, cry, laugh like you, they are like you, we were all once like you, well not all of us sha wink

Everytime we humans meet another human, theres this nano second evaluation, who is prey, who is predator?
In a split second it is decided by posture, eye contact or not, and of course what you are and how you say it.

Why cant you say what you know? There is a time to keep silent to be strong, infact strong , intelligent and confident people are mostly silent.

Here is an exercise you could do- find somewhere that you can be alone to scream!!! Scream. Get angry, curse loudly and say the most vulgar things you can wrap your head around.

Just scream!!!
5 mins.

Get back to your normal routine and bring back to my mind when you were screaming, feel the scream, relive it in your head. Do this for at least one week, if possible the same time of the day and the same place always.

I bet you would become more vocal anf better at communication.

For the fact that you know your faults, you are well on your way to fix it.

Scream at yourself.
Ah! You want make them chain the guy last last

Career / Re: How Much Is A 'good' Salary In Nigerian Private Sector Employment by CedarHoldings: 11:06pm On Sep 30, 2023
Birniwa:
For a family of four like myself, 500k looks good. Below is how I break it down, on monthly basis.

Food and other provisions - 100k
Rent - 360k
Domestic Water - 10k
Drinking Water - 15k
Electricity - 10k
School fees for two kids (after taking average as 1st term is always higher) - 45k
Car Fueling and Maintenance - 75k
Cooking Gas - 9.5k
Contributory, Gift and Charity - 30k
Clothing - 30k
Occasional Outing With Family - 15k
Medicals - 15k
Save for the rainy day - 50k
Online Skills Learning - 10k
Internet and cable subscriptions - 15k

My expenses on monthly basis are to the tune of N429,500

If you think this is too high, just know that every individual cuts their suit according to their size. Moreover, if this appears too little to barely cater for your monthly provisions, I pray one day I match this type of stability and beyond.
rent don carry all your pay,it should not be

Family / Re: Near Death Experience by CedarHoldings: 9:49pm On Sep 26, 2023
Samantha124:
My near death experience was when I was hit by a car back in my teenage years while I was walking to school... The school wasn't far from where I lived, just a couple of blocks away.

I was with my best friend and she said something about a car coming, she specifically told me of how the car was moving in some type a way, I even joked about it because we were not even close to the road.

While we were busy walking, the car got out of the road and came to our direction and hit me, my best friend immediately managed to escape... The car continued with its journey after hitting me, everything just happened so fast.

When I finally gained consciousness, I found myself in an ambulance with my mom and my best friend's mom... Scans were done and fortunately, no bones were broken and I didn't have any internal bleeding, I only had scratches here and there... I was discharged on the same day.

When I got home, all family members from all corners had already filled the house as if I was dead or they were told that I was gonna die... grin grin grin... The man who hit me with his car was also there, apparently those other students who saw the accident happening ran after his car and stopped him.... It was discovered that he's partially blind and he claimed that he didn't see or hear anything when he got out the road and hit me with his car.

Since I didn't sustain serious injuries, my family decided that they were only going to make him pay some money instead of getting him arrested and they warned him that if they hear that he's driving again, they're then going to report him to the police because he was partially blind and legally not fit to drive.
SA girl, do cars hit people in SA too?
