I share with my muslim brothers in the joy of Eid and wish them Allah's (SAW) mercy, protection, peace and joy. We can make the world a better place if we try to tolerate one another's faith and respect our individual freedoms to hold our believes. Salam!

Maradonna is being maradonna-ed! Serves him right. So, IBB can also complain, ehn? He aint't seen nothing yet. Let him wait for the full explosion of the GEJ skills (skills IBB taught all of us). Then he'd know what hit him. Foolish, blood-sucking, useless, cowardly, senile, old, motherf*cking, half-baked, impotent, fair-weather, nonesense, scumbag IBB. Bring it on, He'll soon chicken out!!! *****sighs!!!! cool

@Tivta
Etisalat calls that originate from any of the states of the south-south and south-east to any network in Nigeria are billed at .25k/second. It is called super homezone. In the option, a daily rental of N10 is deducted at 00.00hrs everyday from your balance. To migrate, you dial *230*1#. This also includes a weekly 600 free seconds to call your special "You and Me" number if u use a minimum of N200/week. It also includes free 60 seconds to call any network for every 3 minutes call recieved from other networks! I've been on this plan in the last 3 months and I've seen my phone bills driven down by over 60%. I was waiting for MTN to give them a fight for their bucks, only to read this stupid LINK plan! Very very STUPID indeed!
Phones / Re: Mtn Link Tariffs by celemel(m): 8:34pm On Jul 30, 2010
Whereas am enjoying Etisalat @ .25k/sec to any network in Nigeria presently for just N300 monthly rental. This MTN guys don't seem to understand that the price war had moved beyond .50k/second, bla bla bla. I guess its about time MTN, Zain and Glo started doing something before they lose ground completely in the south-south and south-east Nigeria.
Phones / Re: Which Type Of Phone Do You Use Or Plan To Buy Next? by celemel(m): 8:27pm On Jul 30, 2010
I'm waiting for Nokia N8 that would start shipping from end of Q3, 2010. Its the bomb and the best Nokia phone ever. It definitely would compete favourably and even surpass the much-hyped Iphone 4, Nexus One and HTC Desire. Check the features: 12 mp camera, FM transmitter, 16GB internat memory, 32 GB external, full multiotasking, 3.5 '' OLED display, Symbiam ^3 OS, Full touchscreen with just one front key, acelerometer, proximity sensor, HDMI interface, etc. No phone on earth has yet met those specs. And, the price is within reach, starting from $613. That's much cheaper than the overated Iphone 4.
Sports / Re: From London: Official Super Eagle Team List by celemel(m): 4:04pm On May 31, 2010
Nigeria would not WIN any match in SA 2010! Thats the sad fact. Anything else is absolute wishful thinking. They who fail to pla, plan to fail. We didn't plan and so, we'll fail. Chikena!

@AGITATOR:
Am highly agitated by the quality of your response:

There are so many professor in Iran, Pakistan, India, etc who don't speak English fluently yet they are way ahead of us.  What has English language got to do with a science inclined person.  Nigerians with misplaced priorities.  That's the why they ask people who want to study engineering to obtain a credit in English language whereas even in Britain and USA it is not so, students gain admission with a simple pass in English language, except you are a foreign student.
Most of our policy makers who now made credit  in English language a requirement for admission into the universities got admitted into the same universities with a pass likewise the social science/art based courses got admitted with a pass in Maths.

I'm an engineer, and I speak impeccably! Being foolish and making a mockery of oneself isn't a factor of one's discipline. It's rather a reflection of the degenerate nature of our school system.  In the days of yore, our people mastered the language (our lingua franca mind you).  To the Iranian professor, English isn't his lingua franca. Thats the reason we can excuse him.  But you have no excuse whatsoever, if you were schooled in Nigeria up to the PHd and you can't communicate in english language. Tell me, if any one of us "massacred" the language the way you just did, would any organization hire us to work?  The biggest measure of someone's IQ is his language/communication skills. A PHd holder who cannot speak his lingua franca correctly has low IQ. The PHd then becomes suspect!

@DARTMAUL:
The magazine was TELL.  The cover title was : "I'M THE EVIL GENIUS - IBB" He was trying to explain in the interview that a lot of people see him as wise, and someone who makes informed decisions yet, they castigate him as evil. He was trying to sarcastically cast those two contradictory images of his as "EVIL GENIUS" (an impossible combination).  The name has stuck with him though. It was his first ever interview after "stepping aside". I still have my copy. He dodged every question, and refused to apologize for the annulment of June 12. He even said, he would still take the decision he took, if the same variables present themselves! IBB is an unrepentant power-hungry numbskull who rides on the crest of our usual "short memory" every time, to feather his nest.

He forgets that we are wiser now, and we can easily catch his antics today more than we could, 17 years ago. We drove him away then! We drove Abacha to his grave! We drove OBJ back to Otta.  We pushed the GEJ to assume powers of Mr. President (against the wish of the CABAL) even with the entire military standing with UMYA. We the people have the power in our hands now. When the time comes, we shall drive GEJ away (unless he performs his duties to our satisfaction and of course, he'll still go at the end) and WE SHALL NEVER ALLOW IBB on our collective psyches again! He's living a lie.  The people goading him on would sure destroy the last shred of fabrics hiding his failing frame. We are the people.

Be rest assured was wrong 2,000,000 years ago, is wrong today and would be wrong in 5000 years' time in America, UK, Japan, Nigeria and in heaven! Every language has rules. This one cannot be an exception!

@BEAF:
Attack vector? Who's attacking who? And why bring matrix into the picture? Maybe, you believe I'm from the "cabal" side! I must quickly say, I'm 100% Niger Deltan.  I'm a proud one at that! I'm also proudly Nigerian! We can only make progress when we demand the best of everything from our leaders, irrespective of their tribal colorations. For far too long, we've been coccooned within the limited shells of our circumstantial ethnic origins, and we tend to only see things from that narrow prism.  That blinds us from the bigger picture and our potential ability to "reach the skies" and "break the glass ceiling" given the abundance of our resources. It's the reason we must be vigilant, refuse to praise-sing them into stupor and demand as of right, that they harness our abundant endowments to serve us well and above all, give us the right to freely chose who is best to be our leader.  Goodluck is just one out of millions of other very good people who have the capacity to give us effective leadership.  I have nothing against him. If he does well, I'll thank him and if he gets a less-than-good outing, we should be willing to have our say so.  That would make him sit up and ultimately lead him to becoming a better leader!

@ALL:
I don't believe in power rotation (or zoning) just for the heck of it.  I believe in good and quality leadership, irrespective of where it comes from!

Maybe, we need to turn the thread to that of highlighting "common mistakes in english language".  It may pay off. It's like, a great majority of our people don't even understand the rules of grammar. Plenty of us won't do better than uncle GEJ. Take a look:

be rest assured his next outing would be a much more better interview
You either "rest assured" or "be assured" not "be rest assured". Tautology!   grin  shocked

@JAKUMO: I stand by my statement.  There's no statistical basis for your conclusion. My house in Abuja has experienced less power now, than in the last 6 months.  Same as in Lagos.  Also in Calabar, we mostly get power at night (as it was before).  (This post is powered with laptop battery. PHCN disappeared at daybreak as is customary) Communication is key in leadership. The first quality of a good manager is his ability to communicate. Anything short of that isn't good enough for a country of a hypothetical 150 million (a number I still dispute for we are less than that, any way!)
Politics / Re: I'm Sure Of Winning In 2011 - Babangida by celemel(m): 11:16am On Apr 17, 2010
His ambition is dead on arrival. Lets name the crimes:
1. Asassination by parcel bomb of Dele Giwa
2. Stealing of $12b gulf-war windfall
3. Slaughter of his bestman and friend Gen. Mamman Vatsa (in a phantom coup plot)
4. Criminal annumlment of June 12 elections and subsequent imprisonment and murder of the winner, MKO Abiola
5 Killing of thousands of pro-democracy protesters in the streets of Lagos
6. Devaluation of the Naira to increase his stolen $'s worth
7. Introduction of corruption as deliberate state policy

You guys can add to the list. We chased him away after the annulment of the June 12 elections. We are still alive, and would chase him away this time. HE CAN be everything BUT President of this country again, no matter the level of collaboration and intrigues! I'm sure of this!

Politics / Re: Acting President Goodluck Jonathan And His Too Many Grammatical Errors by celemel(m): 10:19am On Apr 17, 2010
Our country can only come out of the woods when and only if we hold leadership accountable and demand that the best hands steer the ship of state! It's no surprise though that most posters on this thread feel no qualms about the personality of our leaders so long as they can deliver electricity (which they haven't any way). Given a scenario where an organization has to hire someone for the role of Managing Director, I guess such a person would be expected to possess excellent communication skills, among other NECESSARY abilities. Now, supposing we are running Nigeria Incorporated (and of course, that's what it is), the minimum requirement of our leader MUST include excellent communication skills, team-building flair, excellent management acumen, ability to think "outside-the-box", among many others. In other climes, leaders are made to pass through the crucible of public scrutiny during campaigning for elections. That avails the electorate the opportunity to 'hire' the most competent hands during elections. That process of election is akin to attending a job-interview for employment in the conventional corporate setting.  Sadly however, WE the people of Nigeria have NEVER really had a say in determining WHO should LEAD us at every turn of event. It is either some ragtag military neophyte with fuzzy and spurious antecent shoots to the top of leadership through the "barrel of a gun" and declares himself "military President", or some corrupt electoral umpire with "wuruwuru" credentials cook up figures in the millions to "declare" another set of imbeciles with equally fuzzy backgrounds "elected" to serve as President and Vice. Little wonder then that the quality of everything including leadership in our dear country has been on the downward spiral in the last 40 years, yet we the people remain docile and indifferent and sometimes, downrightly silly collaborators in our collective defilement! Yes, when your votes are stolen to elect someone who cannot hold a candle to you, to rule over you while you clap and dance the macabre dance of a despoiled victim, you are defiled and you lose your voice to even cry!.  You lose every sense of being human for humans were made to be free, to decide what is best for them, to harness their environment in prosperity and to be lead only by those they chose.  Our voices were stolen in 1999, 2003 and 2007. AND, if we don't stand up and reclaim our stolen voices come 2011, we shall continue to delude ourselves in self-pity while Amanpour and her "accomplises" continue to expose us for what we are: A vibrant people, ruled over by minions and half-baked cowardly ex-Generals!

@JAKUMO: Uninterrupted power supply? In Nigeria? Which part? Certainly not Lagos, Abuja, Calabar, Uyo or Kaduna. Your Nigeria must be located in outer space indeed! The day I get up to 8 hours of uninterrupted power supply in my house, I'd sure fix a special thanksgiving service! Not today; not in our lifetime. You bet!
Politics / Re: Acting President Goodluck Jonathan And His Too Many Grammatical Errors by celemel(m): 6:02pm On Apr 16, 2010
GEJ reflects the state of affairs in Nigeria. Even Vice Chancellors of some of the Universities in our dear country can't speak or write flawless english, the way it used to be.  We can't compare this era to the glorious past. It's important that our Acting president was able to communicate on Amanpour, but his handlers need to polish him up and make a better public image of him. On CNN, your audience is the entire world. And, the respect or lack thereof, we as a people would get from the international community is a factor of the image our President creates; the ambience, personality and aura that surrounds his literary prowess and conduct especially, in front of cameras.  Presidents Sakashvili of Georgia and Paul Kagame of Ruanda are two leaders that are highly respected in the international circuit due to their communication skills.  Leadership embodies many skills, including communication. It's the weight of Obama's oratorial skills that propelled him into a global sensation during the US Presidential Campaigns, and turned a purely American affair into a global movement; captivating even Mohammed Ahmedinajad! We must learn to speak truth to power and let them know when they are not doing well. A President must speak presidential, look presidential, behave presidential, act presidential and think presidential. These attributes have no tribal marks!
