coogar: has he really taken his chance? how? welbeck has been hit n miss. Of course he has . . . he wouldn't be in the team any longer if he hasn't. coogar: i laugh in mike phelan - just like johnny evans is ahead of ferdinand, right? Evans is not ahead of Ferdinand because he is yet to establish a permanent spot himself unlike Welbeck who has restricted Berbatov to 0 starts in the league. Ferdinand's issue is more or less based on fitness . . . he is more like a bit-part player now getting rested every other game. coogar: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Manchester-United-striker-Wayne-Rooney-can-be-replaced-for-England-by-Danny-Welbeck-says-Sir-Alex-Ferguson-article812622.html
yes, he doesn't give a hoot indeed! So you are saying Fergie desperately wants Welbeck to play for England at the detriment of United's success? Like England comes first? |

Is Chicharito better than Berbatov? Is Rooney better than Berbatov? I'm I better than Berbatov?
We can make comparisons all day long but that is not the point. Welbeck has taken his chance, let him lose his place by his own doings. Even Chicha is ahead of Berbatov at the moment. When he gets his chance he should take it. We tend to play about 60 odd games every season so he will defo get it.
And what's with Fergie's business with England? He doesn't give a hoot about the 3 Lions abeg |

StarBoard: @montelik, Those names you wrote are bigger than Welbeck will probably ever be. Those guys left no one in doubt when they were included into the first team 95/96.They were an integral part of the side that won the league title after Alan Hansen had written thenm off.
Welbeck doesn't have anything that he does particularly well. Beckham was a dead ball specialist and could cross the heck out of a ball.Scholes bossed midfields with Zidane on the opposite side,Gary, was the best Right back England has has in O'shea could be effective in any position he played in from the back four to holding midfielder. Fletcher was our key man 2008/09. Giggs won us games in the past with mazy runs. What does Welbeck do that we can sayis worthy for him to merit a starting position in Unied's attack? And can he be trusted to lead United's forward line? C'mon guys . . . Gary Neville was not the best right back in England at the age of 20/21 Scholes was never bossing the midfield at that age . . . he actually started as a supporting striker. |

RuuDie: Doing which well!!? Abegi
This is not Sunderland, this is MAN UTD and every team that plays MAN UTD ups their game way above the average; so if you are wearing the MAN UTD shirt you have to play very well to make an impact and get noticed. . . . .not in Sunderland where a mediocre performance against a another team that isn't even taking them seriously will get you rave reviews all week. Little wonder The Lions suffer - when players like Welbeck, Sturridge, Henderson, Caroll get hyped beyond their abilities. . . . I jus dey pray make Cleverly be the real deal, if not na die we dey so!
Berbatov played at midweek. . , and played well too, he only had about twenty minutes in this game - in all, he's probably not played up to half a match this season and you are asking what did he do since he came on. . . .? What did Welbeck do in seventy-seven odd minutes he was on Welbeck is not doing well? Okay, tell me what he should have done to claim the tag of 'doing well' then? Maybe a brace every other game. So we should sell Welbeck off then. Berbatov is like 30 years old now . . . About 10 years older than young Danny. The way the boy has improved over the last couple of years is astounding. Welbeck gives us the dynamism up front with the way our front 4 interchange. Every one of them can swap round and we can still keep our shape. He's played about 10 games this season and scored like 5 goals . . . how can that not be termed as 'doing well'? Torres at the moment will DIE to have that kind of record. Welbeck got his chance, took it and he deserves to be in that team. Berba should wait for his own chance too. The only player you could argue to keep him out is Chicharito. Berbatov ko . . . Babalawo ni. Its not even guaranteed he'll be getting a new contract. Because this is Manchester United we should only have superstars in the team? Berbatov played well at midweek against Aldershot. If he cant play well against a team like that then he should retire and hang up his boots. Thank goodness you are not the manager of Manchester United, no young player will ever come through . . . na so so superstars you go dey buy |

coogar: i am not saying he's united quality but we need players like that in the team. people will argue evans, owen, park, carrick, fletcher, gibson, etc are not united quality as well but they get to play regularly. oshea na united quality? i play better than oshea. How O'Shea became a professional footballer still beats me though coogar: if dem born fergie well, make him play evans in the heart of the defence again. senile w@nker. I've always tried to back Evans up when people criticise him but I must admit I'm running out of excuses for the geezer. Fergie will PLAY him . . . like you don't know Fergie. Do you know how many times he has praised Evans' performance this season before the derby? Fergie likes to show support and he's very sentimental. I wont watch if he plays though. debosky: I can't help feeling Citeh has Utd's number this season - with Silva in the form of his life and a myriad of rapacious strikers at his beck and call, I predict Akpako part 2 if y'all meet again. We will shut up stall. Fergie will play 3 DM's if need be. |

coogar: goddamn it!
diouf? did you watch this dude in the pre-season at all? I watched all our pre-season games. If we were to judge on that . . . Macheda had a good pre-season too. coogar: why do you think so? you have only seen him play for the seniors once this season - and that was a makeshift team put together by lord fergus. park played as a central midfielder. The reason I think so is because Blackburn obviously play long-ball footie where they can utilise his pace. They just kick it long to the channel and leave the rest for Diouf to chase like a golden slave being set free. He is not technically gifted enough to play one touch tippy tappy - did you see Cleverley's amazing one-touch flick for Berbas goal? Coogar, admit it . . . Diouf is not United quality . . . yes? no? coogar: i want the semis cos i want it to be 2-legged. no fluke or whatever the press might call it. meeting em in the q/finals would be a one legged tie. semis is home/away duel in january. it will be the perfect time to inflict anarchy on those w@nkers. coogar: technically, mame biram diouf is better than welbeck! I disagree. Only thing going for Diouf is pace. Which mostly = Initial gra gracoogar: i don't think you watch diouf often. i remember when welbeck used to play on the flanks. he looked shyte but i have been told that fergie does that as in-house training for his players. every united player must learn to play in at least 2 different positions. . . . . . .we might see de gea pairing with evra in the attack one day soon. Diouf playing on the wings is not the problem . . . his overall game is just not up to United's standard and Im not even being harsh cos I'm not judging him on goals. I dont buy the excuse of playing on the wings. Moreover, he played on the wings on loan at Blackburn too - I'd say he did okay there - his style of play fits Blackburn's style. coogar: meanwhile, carling cup will be huge this season. all the big teams are still in it. i am silently praying we get man city in the semis. i cannot wait till fuckin may to play those w@nkers - that particular game might be a dead rubber cos it's matchday 36. i want to meet city now and beat them skybluish-blackish. Semis? I dont mind when we meet them, I just want them at all cost. That thrashing was not easy to take in and I still get nightmares cos of it. Until we revenge that spanking . . . I cant be satisfied. The stakes are higher now - its the quarter finals. If both teams meet now I'm sure they will play close to their best teams if not the best team cos even Fergie will want revenge. I remember both teams fielding their strongest 11 when we net in the semis a few years ago. Everything will be on the line. Revenge! Revenge!! Revenge!!! |

coogar: diouf is a very good striker. his problem is the lack of games. he does very well in the reserves.
macheda injured his elbow or so. Then he should stay with the reserves team and help them win the league there. If Diouf cannot cut it at this stage in his career in the reserves . . . then he should be sold to Aldershot to further his football education. Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Arturo Lupoli, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Jeremie Alliadiere all did very well in the reserves too. |

coogar: you realize he played as a left winger last night? that's the equivalent of putting berbatov/van nistelrooy on the wing. Forget about position and lack of goals. His overall game is poor . . . first touch is abysmal, technically he is shiite . . . only thing going for him is pace. His style fits Blackburn pretty well. I've washed my hands off him. Lets give Macheda Diouf's chances to further aid his development. That boy has regressed and I feel very sorry for him. |

montelik: ^^ wettin him suppose do, start a mass brawl and poke someone's eye. From Quieroz to Smith to Mclaren, assistants have never been that active on d united bench. Only Brian Kidd was very active on sidelines during his tenure. He should be in the best position to motivate the players. Afterall, the role of the assistant is to ASSIST right? Fergie was down and out, it was obvious from his looks . . . I expected Phelan to man up, take the bull by the horns and control/motivate that team. It was like he gave up himself. I'm yet to see any iota of passion in him so far. I agree that McLaren was very active too but Queiroz was usually at the touchline barking out instructions to the players on a regular basis. Rene is worldclass . . . a Dutch masterclass . . . it's a shame his main roles are behind closed doors - training methods and the other technical side of things. montelik: Will put coogar and his solid football brain in d engine room like his beloved Anderson , you can partner him. mbulela: Utd fans, on these blogs anyway, seem to have favourites for no obvious reasons. Carrick is one of the best players around at shielding a defence ( the best player in midweek against Otelu ) and that is what we desperately need at the moment. Anderson on the other hand leaves a motorway through the centre of the pitch for the opposition to motor down; he doesn't tackle, plays simple passes straight to the opposition, huffs and puffs to get back but seeing he's usually ball watching on the wrong side of his man he more often just stands and watches the opposition player disappear into the distance.
At O.T. on Sunday I could hardly believe my eyes how poor he was. Carrick's technical ability is far superior to Anderson's but on these blogs people seem to think it's the other way round. Is it because he's Brazilian? This was exactly what I was saying about Carrick in my last couple of posts. |

coded guy: Naa never said thats what you said, was just airing my own view based on what you said.
this means we have to play 3 in the middle taking into consideration the oppositions' pedigree and style also.
I hope cleverly will still be in the form he was when he returns I have no problem with a 3 man midfield . . . remember the Ando-Carrick-Fletcher combo? It is tested and trusted and we have demolished many big teams with that formation both in the league and most especially in the CL. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by chamotex(op): 2:59pm On Oct 24, 2011 |
coded guy: There is no way we can categorically say if a particular player was on the field this result would have been prevented. I think the players and Fergie just missed it, whether we attribute it to pride or whatever, there was confusion in the UNITED team yesterday. They just felt that they would be able to rescue the situation and then were always punished. I never said anything like that. My point is . . . Carrick is the only CM we have that is disciplined enough to sit, hold and protect our back four. You rarely see Carrick get into the oppositions penalty box any more compared to Anderson, Fletcher etc. That makes a huge difference . . . not necessarily saying it would have made any difference in yesterdays game . . . we will never know that. Like someone said before, Ando and Fletcher will struggle to get you 7 goals each in a season and they are not the most disciplined in protecting the defence either. At least with Carrick, you know what to expect . . . he doesn't bump forward but he sits and protects. For me personally, we don't currently have the central midfielders to play 2 in the middle at this present time especially in the big games, and if we must do . . . it MUST be Carrick and someone else . . . at least until Cleverley returns to continue the partnership with Ando that has worked earlier in the season. |
