That is what I always say about squad players. O'Shea is a reliable squad player that is versatile and can play in a number of roles. Will miss dissing him tho. But its not a loss that would affect us significantly. Even though we've lost 3 defenders (Gary, Wes & John) . . . we still have 8 defenders in the squad, but only 3 experienced players |

4llerbuntu: i see it differently.
true its not exactly a do or die situation, we are not portsmouth all of a sudden, yet our financial position is'nt all that its made out to be.
for one we make far less than we should be making for a top premier league club, and unless i have been deaf all this while, wenger's prime problem is that he does not have enough funds to compete for top talent in the transfer market yet the club still has to compete in an increasingly difficult league.
that to my mind is a financial problem, you need a new pair of shoes to get a job, yet u can only afford a pair of dunlop slippers.
anyway, if you are perceptive, the club is right now at a precipice. now either all the good work of years gone by get wasted or we kick on to a great phase. its imperative that changes be made to boost the squad. now is not the time for all this ideological bull. AM NOT SAYING WE TAKE LOANS OR OVERSPEND, i am saying its time we take handouts, if u can truly call it that, from the billionaires. they own the damn club, spending on your property cannot be handouts.
even if u call it that, yes we need that, clearly. give this man say 80 mill, just balance up the budget and lets see if the man can make a difference instead of the usual excuses.
btw, i belong to the few who firmly believe last season's shortcomings were not due to player weakness per se, i believe even though we dont have the best players, better management should have won stuff in last season's league/cups.
anyway, its all conjecture at this point. i just dont buy into the blind optimism thing Hahahahaha |

when will pre-season start? |

nateevs: Oniranu. You think I am plucking sh.it from thin air. Chelsea are in talks with him. Dude wants to stay at Barca but will move if Fab is brought in. And he fancies Chelsea. Happy? Hehehe . . . why your blood come dey hot now Still . . . all na speculation. There is a new manager coming in now . . . do you know whether he'll fancy Alcantara . . . Oh I forgot, we're talking about Chelsea here. nateevs: The club can afford it eh? Lemme see you on the other side talking trash about how much Chelsea spent with that rubbish coming from your keyboard. Ashley Young may never play for England again yet he's about to earn 120,000 a week. Give me one reason why Young MAY never play for England again? Is he going to die any time soon? He is about to earn 120K? Give me a credible source abeg We are not even sure how much he's going for yet . . . some say 15m, some are saying it's even more. nateevs: Ashley Young at this moment should not earn more than Kalou. On what basis? In the last 5 years, only Fab has made more assists than Young in the premiership. |

nateevs: Bloody lilly-livered Bottom who uses the press to release info about how he loves Barca yet cannot hand in a transfer request. He wants to play for Barca sooo bad but he can't do what he has to do. I just hope he moves because it favours Chelsea. Arsenal get weaker and Thiago Alcantara will move to Chelsea. Everyone's happy! Lateef think say na Championship Manager nateevs: Yeah yeah. If na Chelsea, you go dey shout. Now you remember the word speculation. Calm down ogbeni. What makes you believe they will pay Young £120, 000 a week? Even if sef, why are you surprised? Its not like the club cant afford it. |

@Lateef
No one is disputing the fact that he's a good manager but y'all should expect too much from him and think he'll perform miracles. Cos he learnt from Jose doesn't mean he'll be as good as him, on the other hand he could also be better, with time.
Europa League? Like seriously? Lmao
@coogar That gif of Paul Ince is just jokes, no wonder he was dacked less than 6 months into the job. Lol |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread:Home Of The Blues!!!! by chamotex(m): 11:31am On Jun 23, 2011 |
coogar: portugese league is weak. anyone thinking his achievements in portugal will be replicated here must be a coke addict. there are more competent teams in the premier league now. there are even clubs who can outspend roman abramovic if they want to. he's going to have it tough unless roman makes a major overhauling of chelsea(sending the old dogs away and starting afresh with villas-boas preference). Amodu Shuaibu would win the Portuguese league with the resources/power they have over there. He already said he's targeting all FOUR trophies . . . so lets wait and see. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread:Home Of The Blues!!!! by chamotex(m): 11:27am On Jun 23, 2011 |
coogar: villas-boas is an excellent manager - he pays attention to every detail. i saw one of his leaked scouting report for jose mourinho when they once worked for chelsea and boy-o-boy, i am yet to see a more detailed pre-match analysis showing the strengths n weakness of their opponent(newcastle). chelsea ended up winning 3-0.
the only glitch here is. . . . . .will chelsea create an enabling environment for this man to thrive? in any other club in the top 5, i will be very wary of what villas-boas will add but @ chelsea, i don't think so. the question of power player is there(john terry, frank lampard, drogba), then there's the owner who behaves like a tyrant and there are other issues as well.
i can't wait for next season. . . . .it looks promising already. Obviously he is a good coach . . . no doubt. But believing the fact that because he worked under JM, he will achieve the same height as him is ridiculous to say the least. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread:Home Of The Blues!!!! by chamotex(m): 11:23am On Jun 23, 2011 |
nateevs: Sharap. He went on to win a treble in his second season as manager. Look at his track record for a guy who never played football and tell me he didn't learn anything.
You get the feeling some guys just like to opposed even though sometimes it clearly makes no sense to. Good achievement - Porto are the kings of Portuguese football. Its very possible they will win the league again next season with their new manager. And I'd like to think you are not comparing the EPL to the Portuguese league. And the only notable record he has was last season . . . so what other track record are you on about? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread:Home Of The Blues!!!! by chamotex(m): 11:00am On Jun 23, 2011 |
FBS: @nateevs, yeah you mentioned "inspiration" but I would also like to say that it is obvious he learnt more from Jose. Learnt what exactly? What did McClaren learn from Fergie? Being an under-study to a good coach like JM doesn't mean he will be like him. One thing I know is Chelsea is a very difficult team to manage . . . players with egos and all sorts. AVB will have his hands full. |

coogar: i like ashley young. . . .he's very hardworking and i believe he will step up his game when he plays around world class players. one thing is set in stone: young at aston villa >>>>>> valencia at wigan. . . . .if young also improves like valencia did 2 summers ago, then united rivals should beware.
valencia will miss the start of the season because of copa america. . .anderson/da silva brothers might also be missing. . . .we need a deep squad to get past the difficult fixtures at the start of the season so i welcome ashley young - his opportunity to win big titles at united beckons. Young is a good addition to our squad . . . how can anyone not be happy with that? I like the way he plays (just like me ) . . . I like players that are prepared to take defenders on and go past them with ease. He is also very deadly on set-pieces . . . something we've lacked since CR7 departed. Rooney + Chicharito + Berbatov must be rubbing their palms right now . . . quality delivery at all times. That is true . . . Valencia will miss the opening weeks but Anderson and the twins didnt make the final cut for Brazil though.' |

It seems you ae just looking at him just as a winger. This guy can play anywhere across the midfield, h ecan play as a striker or even behind the striker. He is very versatile. . . the kind of player we need at United. He will set up loads of goals for our strikers. You should be happy. coogar: i think we should forget alexi sanchez then. . . . .
