This makes no sense. No region can rule by itself. The north/south west alliance is the best for Nigeria and it cannot be allowed to fail because of one overbearing person. There are many yoruba in the apc who strongly oppose Tinubu because he prefers personal loyalty over party loyalty. He has prolonged this crisis unnecessarily and upset many people. Biafra will never come to be and there will never be a referendum. What you say about Osun state is rubbish. People are obviously afraid to tell Tinubu the truth, that national politics is not like the local league. There is no christian /Muslim antagonism, except only in your mind. Has either faith succeeded in stopping corruption in public or private business? Or promoted efficiency in delivery of services?

Please, why is it that South West are so obsessed about their people being in leadership position? What is special about Majority Leader or even Deputy Speaker or even Speaker? I still cannot find what the following people from SW did for South West. For example:

- OBJ was president for 8 years added to 3 years as Military Head of State. What did SW benefit from OBJ?
- Etteh was Speaker for sometime, what did she do for SW?
- Dimeji was Speaker for a term or so, where are the benefits or did he transform Ogun State?
- Mulikat Akande or whatever was Majority leader for 4 years, tell me what project was executed by her that is benefiting SW?

All the flyovers and bridges in Lagos were built by Yakubu Gowon and IBB, except for one or two built by Fashola. Even if Gbajabiamila becomes Speaker, what is he going to do? Impeach Buhari to become president or make Tinubu president? All these cries is never about Nigeria, but self and some 'fools' are killing themselves for nothing. An average SW thinks more of Oodua than Nigeria, then why do you still support this union?

You make an excellent point that people refuse to grasp. This so called battle is all about personal interest and ego and positioning for 2019. Dare I say no one has even talked about the people in all this time. However, the real politics is that since Tinubu has become so cantankerous, Saraki has no option but to align himself deeply with the President's agenda, to ensure he keeps the job. So the president gets what he wants even if he doesn't approve of the manner it was done. Senate salaries and allowances will be cut, and their budget eventually open to scrutiny. Tinubu has to deal with that and understand that he cannot bully the national party in the way he does to the south West apc. The crisis is over and he has shown too much ambition too early. The apc will never accept him as a presidential candidate!

Ultimately thats what will happen. Tinubu is going to get his ministerial nominations and they will pass screening. Buhari knows who his candidates are and to balance the selections we see the President already appointing Northerners as DGs in various agencies in preparation to spread the power.

There is power in silence! Certain people are intimidated by Tinubu silence and they are trying to agitate him to talk so they can analyze his thoughts and read his mind. His silence opresses them.

Tinubu has not been silent, only Atiku. All the calumny in the press against Saraki was orchestrated by Tinubu. The lies told to the president that Saraki bought over the party chairman were from Tinubu. The fake meeting at the ICC on the morning of the Senate leadership elections was another ruse from Tinubu. Who else wanted his brother as oil minister and his wife as Senate majority leader? Who else sent Akande to release that embarrassing statement that managed to unite the north against his ambitions? Why else did gbeja fail in his bid to lead the house- because they saw the shadow of Tinubu over him. I really am disappointed that a man can be so greedy in this life and not expect repercussions. The apc is a national party and will not be controlled by any one man no matter how smart he thinks he is. Atiku has won this round, and Tinubu should realise that we will never have him as a presidential candidate. Especially not when he behaves in the manner we have seen in recent weeks. Avarice and ambition must have limits!

Everyone keeps stating the similarities not the differences. Did Tambuwal offer any seat or post to the ACN?Did Tambuwal dine with the opposition to achieve his aim?The issue got out of hands the moment Saraki offered PDP deputy slot to achieve his aim.

Consider this: with the number of pdp senators present, they could have actually elected one of their own members as Senate president, if they had the confidence and gall to be so bold. And yes, Tambuwal did confer with the ACN before he was elected speaker. Ask Gbaja if you must, he was the pointsman in that manoeuvre, and as it is, Tambuwal held the office peacefully and kept the house relatively United through his term. Don't imagine that the senators exist in a state of enmity across party lines. Even the minority party gets to head some committees and they serve on all the others too. Abike was head of a committee before the elections. The APC should not have dictated to the Senate or house, that is an aberration introduced by Obasanjo’s government. Most neutral observers accept that Saraki would have won however the election was conducted because Lawan is simply much less popular among the Senators, and has a reputation for being inaccessible and remote.

The APC did not make saraki. His own father made him governor and he finished under pdp and went to the Senate under pdp before decamping. What rubbish is Akande spewing here. The man Saraki contributed to the apc victory delivering his state with a better margin than lagos. For such an old man to be so unwise is embarrassing. Apart from the Ekweremadu issue, ACN fully supported Tambuwal when the idiot Jonathan and obasanjo wanted someone else. So who is the hypocrite here?

Of course,they are competently present in their proteges and the president himself whose opening address at the on-going meeting insists that the NASS respects party supremacy.

It is important to understand that the party has many organs that report to the executive committee. It has structure because it is national and it would be cumbersome if everyone reported to the executive directly. When they say an NEC meeting has been called, it is for the members of the executive and the purpose was to meet with the president regarding certain matters. Neither Tinubu nor Akande are members of the current executive and they were not invited. The Senate president was and a few others. If the meeting is too large it will be unruly and most likely unproductive. As it was, it went very well.

Akande himself released a press statement that has been widely reported and he has not denied it or said he was misrepresented. However every smart political player knows it was a tissue of lies without one solid fact. Everyone also knows he is simply doing Tinubus dirty work, and they are resolved that such scandalous smearing of whole sections of the party will fail to achieve its objectives. Tinubu cannot and will not be allowed to control the party in the way he desires. He will not succeed in his plan to surround Buhari with all his acolytes or make himself such a power that he can select the next president, one that he can use at will. Nigeria is not lagos. For his own good he needs to exercise caution.

Why is Tinubu so desperate to surround the president with all his cronies? But decent men like fashola and fayemi he cannot recommend? Saraki has friends and is actively working to mend his relationship with the chairman and president, while Tinubu is using his press to further annoy the party and reopen wounds they are looking to heal. If the alliance of North and south West crashes, please blame Tinubu who thinks he must dominate every space he enters. I'm not so surprised that The Nation published such rubbish. Tinubu should live with the fact that Turaki has defeated him in this battle in the national assembly and move on. Hiding behind the party chairman's agbada is childish and futile. How much influence will satisfy him thirst? People are already saying they have seen souvenirs made in advance of him pushing for his wife to become Senate leader, and this after rumors that he had suggested his brother at Oando, to be chosen as petroleum minister! Does he think his is the dominant interest in the party, when even the nPdp added more governors to the fold, and the election victory (and votes) show the south West to be a smaller part of the apc.
The mock election in the apc and the foolishly timed 9am meeting with the president were all his handiwork, crafted to increase his influence within the party and we have all seen the result. The plan failed, and even Gbaja, failed because people in the party wanted to give him some perspective and put Tinubu in his place. The chairman will not bow to all this cheap propaganda in the press and social media. The apc will neither suspend nor discipline Saraki because he has pledged his loyalty to the government's legislative agenda and as the number three citizen we will benefit nothing from alienating him. Tinubu does not own the apc and his wife was tactless in refusing to shake Saraki's hand. I'm just amazed at this display of political immaturity from such a man. Let the nwc meet tomorrow and he will find he has few friends willing to burn down the house to support his overarching ambitions. In all this noise, no one has mentioned what is good for the country or party, just blind personal ambition on display. Has Turaki been making crowing over his achievement in this affair? Has he been planting stories in the media to boost his ego?
This nonsense has to end soon because the Tinubu brand is being tarnished almost beyond repair by this running display of petulance and ambition.

This story is just pure bs disguised with some smearing of people's good reputations. Saraki has won the Senate president contest. Exactly how was the party going to discipline him especially as he is now the nations number 3 citizen? The empty threat did not emerge from the chairman and the reality is that getting 2/3 of the Senate to impeach Saraki is an uphill task that would once again require the support of some pdp members. If Lawan had been more gracious when he was outplayed by Saraki perhaps he might have stood a chance of becoming leader of the majority in the Senate but as it is Saraki could never trust him with such an important position now. The APC should have left the legislative arm of the party to choose it's own leaders without interference. That is how it is normally done in sensible countries. The APC chairman has been unnecessarily drawn into this mess by people fighting desperately for their own benefit and not that of the party or country. Slash their salaries and allowances by 60% and make the legislature pay only for attending members and maybe it would become less attractive to these avaricious leeches.
