PoliticsRe: 8 Governors Ask Oyegun To Resign - Vanguard by Change2015(m): 1:04pm On Jun 24, 2015
This story is completely false and is being hawked around the press by a journalist called Chuks, who is hoping to become media aide to the Senate president. It is a shameless fabrication without one iota of reality attached to it. The governors have denied it and, I can assure this desperate journalist that he has already failed in his ambition because the Senate president recognises the importance of a good working relationship with both the president and the party chairman. His fellow journalists have already been carrying his name and intentions all over abuja, so he is dead on arrival. Attaching the names of El-Rufai and Oshiomole to his lies was such a bad move as he will learn shortly!

PoliticsRe: Saraki, Dogara, Dare APC; Reject Party’s Choices Of Principal Officers For NASS by Change2015(m): 12:52pm On Jun 24, 2015
There is no way on earth Saraki can accept Lawan as Senate leader, after his petulance and graceless behaviour. I hope what I hear about the supposed Tinubu camp is untrue because it is just foolishness and futile. Apparently they are demanding the four leadership positions on offer. That will not happen. Saraki has already won the first round of battle and you expect him to roll over and accept that? Really, if this is true it is just embarrassing. The best they the can hope for is two of the four positions and at most the position of deputy leader in both houses. Let us watch as it plays out, but the apc will actually emerge stronger when some national leaders appreciate that they are just a part of a whole new organisation and not overlords of some section. The nation comes first, even before the party!

PoliticsRe: Samuel Achilefu Receives US Award For Inventing Cancer Goggles by Change2015(m): 11:56am On Jun 17, 2015
This is simply misguided. Emeagwali is a fraud while this man Achilefu appears to have done something useful. To lump the two together is a disservice to him, Achilefu. Do your own research on Emeagwali, it is public record that he has lied about receiving a doctorate, and has overrated his contribution to the field of computer modelling, having been part of a team that won a 1000usd prize for a particular breakthrough. Even the size of that prize should be a clue to you that he is not particularly significant in the computer modelling world, and his claims to patents have proved false. The USA patents database is searchable and his name does not show up.

"When some leaders met with the President after the coup in the Senate, he was said to “be hollow” without a solution to the crisis at hand."

The above is my worry. We need decisive action.
You listen to one side of a story and start worrying? That is not wise... Now, let me give you another scenario. What if Tinubu called the 9am meeting to pressure the President into publicly supporting his own candidate? Think broadly...

PoliticsRe: Buhari Is A Leader And Not A Politican- Atiku by Change2015(m): 4:47pm On Jun 11, 2015
Alphaoscar:
I was telling some Northern folks on monday that Atiku and some of their Northern politicians are the real enemies of Buhari instead of Tinubu they are all pointing fingers on and he disagreed completely only for him to later endorse my views yesterday.

Tinubu's personal interest in the whole NA saga is George Akume who stood by him and laboured with him to keep AC moving forward. He was only forced into Gbajabiamila's aspiration by people and he can't find any reason not to support him considering the way he also stood by the movement at the turbulent periods and infact the emergence of Gbajabiamila forced him to persuade Akume to vie for the Deputy President slot instead of Akume's initial aspiration of the Senate Presidency and Lawan is just a needed tool to achieve the set target contrary to the believe in somequarters that he is a Tinubu's boy.

Lawan is from the ANPP arm of the party and he is more of Buhari's boy than Tinubu's boy.
I don't understand your point. Who tells you there is any rift between Atiku and Buhari? Why promote gossip about discord where there is none. What Atiku says is basically true, he is more of a politician and Buhari is more of a leader... And so?
Akume did not stand a chance of anything. His unfortunate reputation (yes go and do your research) meant no one took him seriously. And as for Gbaja, perhaps he will ensure that next time he is not seen as anyone's errand boy.

What they fail to realise is that Saraki has enough intelligence to know the apc is likely to govern for 8yrs and as such needs time to build up his profile if he intends to run for president, which I don't see happening anyway. Ekweremadu is a selfish and useless politician that cannot deliver his state or region so being deputy is only a personal benefit for him and a few cronies in the Senate that has 109 members. He has no personal significance, and his reputation in abuja is that he hates to see people around him prosper. But this is the kind of politician they celebrate in the East! In his 8yrs so far what has he done for anyone, what has he achieved, apart from enriching himself? Tinubu may be bruised but this is just one battle in a war. He overplayed his hand but he will be back, and rest assured, the dummies shouting pdp revival don't even appreciate how all the pdp governors are struggling to make friends with the president and chairman of the APC. Saraki is firmly in the APC to stay, and this government will put the doubters to shame.

PoliticsRe: 51 Senators Absent As 57 Senators Elect Saraki As President by Change2015(m): 1:32pm On Jun 09, 2015
One thing needs to be said, I'm sure Saraki would have gotten the votes of a number of APC senators in a secret vote, so I do not see acrimony in the future. And certainly he will be aware that he needs presidential support to survive in the position, and if possible Buhari’s blessing for a future presidential run (Tinubu not being a viable option).
One thing that has disturbed me has been the use of the media against him. Even the false SR story... This has all been orchestrated by certain power blocks, while they have totally failed to explain why Lawan is a better option. As it is, Lawan has a reputation for being unapproachable (I cannot testify to the truth of that, but that is what people are saying) and the fact that Tinubu appears to support him has also dented his chances. Saraki will spend a lot of time now, mending fences, but I think he will understand the need to align even more with Buhari’s vision for government.

Let's not play ignorant here. Buhari is head of state, and his attention is required everywhere. Should he relocate to Apapa port until the petrol scarcity is over? Should he relocate to kainji Dam until we have electricity? Defence house is still the nerve center of our military services, and it is only the the command centre in charge of the anti-insurgency struggle that is being relocated. That is good and proper. The USA has command centers in Iraq, Afghanistan etc. while the wars there were going on. Even with their superior means of communication, what exactly makes Nigeria an exception to this logic?

This argument is specious and borders on the ridiculous. So apparently the military top brass are entitled to sit in comfort in abuja while the troops (with their poor accommodation, medical services, food etc) are easily sacrificed at the frontlines? No, a leader of troops should know what they are experiencing and their proximity will ensure they take their work seriously, and prosecute the war more efficiently. 5 years and people still have the nerve to suggest we continue as usual? Jonathan is gone, and that lackadaisical approach has gone with him.

I have clearly heard the VP elect, say that the social security program will be phased in gradually. And with the one meal for school kids both will act as a stimulus for the economy with a resultant increase in government revenues. There will also be a result in better health, less malnutrition etc.
It is amazing to see how negative people can be about a program directly targeted at the poor citizen, the vast majority of Nigerians to be sure. Buhari does not represent the northern elite and is quite aware that it is the poor unemployed masses that have given him this historic victory. These programs are a step in the right direction and will have a positive impact for a greater number of citizens than anything the previous government ever achieved.

The oil revenue receipts for April (2014), the report stated, constituted about 67.6 per cent of the total revenue of N922.1 billion realised during the month.

A breakdown of the total revenue for the month also included about N299.2 billion realised from revenues from non-oil sector sources.

Nigeria Customs regularly boasts of the sums they collect on imports, or have you not noticed? Rice, cars, oil industry equipment, everything...
We also have a small but growing export sector of both goods and services. We don't just sit down and sell oil. Tax revenues are also raised from local businesses trading locally or internationally.

Mr, ur post is just unfortunate. Politics is like a football match, u win some and u lose some. You don't go about supporting every team that wins, if not there won't be an arsenal fan today, not even one, but some of us are.
Would you rather prefer a one party system? The reason why we may have a formidable opposition today is because of the SE, not even SS. The SW remained in the opposition since 1999(except 2003 when they voted for their brother OBJ), since 2003 the north west have always voted for Buhari.
Lets see how long the NW/NE/SW marriage lasts.
Please the easterners should not feel bad, they should concentrate on how to develop their region.
Elections are over. Nigerians are still one. And for a long time to come, we shall continue to vote along ethnic lines(the religious part is gradually fading away).
May God bless our president Elect, Gen Buhari.
I think the problem many have with the way the SE voted, is the way they embraced the vilest propaganda, the names and insults hurled at every other Nigerian, the utter lack of explanation or justification for the rabid association with Jonathan. It is not like Jonathan did anything special or significant in the SE. The federal roads are still generally crap, the second niger bridge is still at stage 0.5, there is little logical reason that is apparent to an outsider. Certainly Jonathan also lacks personality and presence, so it is really hard to understand. He had no political philosophy, no background of any achievement.... Nothing. Basically since 2011 we have watched him fritter away all the goodwill and hope the ordinary people had reposed in him.
Even the Christians of the north central have grown weary of his effete security stance.
Then you have the Lagos scenario where, once again the Igbo seem not to associate with the political leanings of their neighbours just as they could not see how the nations view of Jonathan had changed.
Jonathan got more votes in the north than Buhari got in the se/ss. These are all pertinent issues for Nigerians who observe politics.

This is one question that no one is yet to answer. Those positions only benefit the occupant and his family.
Budget presentations are made to the Senate and their committees also oversee many parts of the economy. Senators are able to influence projects and spending to benefit their zones. They can approve and reject projects by not approving or approving appropriation, they also can press ministers to initiate or terminate programs.
