Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Nigeria’s former minister of finance said on Tuesday night that the $2 billion she was alleged to have withdrawn from Excess Crude Account without authorisation was used to pay for fuel subsidy on the instruction of former President Goodluck Jonathan. She however said the issue was discussed at the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), a statutory body which is chaired by the Minister of State for Finance in which all the states are represented. The former Minister however said FAAC did not approve the withdrawal. ________________________________________________ In a sane country, with the bolded statement above, the FAAC chairman & Mrs. Okonjo Iweala would have been invited by the anti-corruption bodies but hey, this is Nigeria. |
BabaO2:You're so on point with the bolded. This revelation is just an introduction from Madam Okonjo Iweala....Get your front seat and popcorns ready for more... |

sinkhole:Which other support than living expenses? Averagely an MSc in UK costs £12,000-£15,000(around N3.5-4.5 million). Assuming you spent about £12000(about N3.6 million)on living expenses, it's still not more than N8million(£25,000 roughly) in total so how did you arrive at N30Million(about £100,000). Remember, the OP is talking about a one year master's programme not three year Bachelor's programme. |
vedaxcool:True talk. This is a serious allegation that must be followed to the latter. The days of impunity is over. If care is not taken, we'll all wake up one day and they'll tell us that they've amended the constitution and that they( PDP ) have impeached the president( even though they're the minority )afterall in the last PDP govt, 5 was greater than 19. |

Video: Buhari Arrives APC NEC Meeting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3O3dxfwlK0 |
“I have already appealed to you through the chairman, the leadership of the party, through the governors, through our lawmakers and the APC must not disappoint its constituency, the nation In other words, I have no more carrots left except.....sticks |
He told the story of the party from the beginning when other parties came together to form APC, how INEC rejected their initial merger, how the first convention was planned and who was instrumental at the initial stage.I hope Saraki and Dogara understood this statement |
NAN – President Muhammadu Buhari has said that all APC faithful must collectively come together to rise above the current crisis threatening to engulf the party. Buhari made the call in Abuja on Friday at the first National Executive Council (NEC) emergency meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) after its victory at the polls. He said party members should strive to win the war (National Assembly crisis) as they won the battle (general elections). He said: “APC has won the battle and lost the war which is a paradox of democracy and we shall see how we shall manage it. “How do we manage it? We move forward. “I have already appealed to you through the chairman, the leadership of the party, through the governors, through our lawmakers and the APC must not disappoint its constituency, the nation. “We have had to convince our individual constituencies that we are worthy of sacrifices they had made in staying awake days and nights, travelling all over the country and making sure the party emerged victorious. “What subsequently happened is human and as human beings we are not perfect but let our collective actions prove that we’ve won the election, the battle, and we will eventually win the war,” he said. Buhari further urged the party members to honour the platform through which they won the elections and gave a background of how he contested his present position and lost three times. “Whoever wants to run for elected office as a Nigerian must have a platform and that platform is the political parties hence the superiority of the party because that is our platform,” the president said. He told the story of the party from the beginning when other parties came together to form APC, how INEC rejected their initial merger, how the first convention was planned and who was instrumental at the initial stage. “I am going through all these (stories) because not all of us here participated in this and for you to reflect and thank the leadership of the party at various stages for going through all these which wasn’t easy. “But God in his infinite mercy has paid us by giving us success, let us not throw this success to the wind. “Let us as members of APC no matter our personal differences, get together and meet the mandate given to us by this country. “This is my personal appeal and, in the name of God, whatever your personal interest is and ambition, please keep it close to your heart and in your pocket. “Let APC work and let this system work and let us have a government that will earn the respect of our constituencies. “I appeal to you to please continue working together and please accept the superiority of the party….because I respect the superiority of the party,” he said. The president congratulated the APC Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, for leading the party to victory and acknowledged the presence of the president of the Senate and speaker of the House of Representatives. Earlier, Odigie-Oyegun said it was unfortunate that the first NEC meeting was convened hurriedly but congratulated the members on the landslide victory at the polls. “The main item on the agenda is the ratification of aspects of members of the Board of Trustees,” he said. He lauded the character of the president and his deputy, saying APC became easily believable because of their integrity. He said that “(APC) governors have swollen from 14 to 22 and we are still counting.” NAN reports that Buhari arrived at the party secretariat at 11:04 am. and left at 12:40 pm. The governors of Sokoto, Kebbi, Plateau, Imo, Bauchi and Lagos states were among dignitaries at the event. Others were APC National Working Committee members, state chairmen, former governors, senators and zonal leaders. |

Texas Governor, God bless you. Democrats are most likely to lose the next presidential election to the Republicans because of their numerous support for immorality laws. |
I can see that VP Osinbajo talk the talk and he's walking the walk. He's doing exactly what he's elected to do. Security of Nigerians is so paramount in his heart. From Abuja to Anambra to Lagos to Ivory Coast back to Abuja to Borno to Adamawa now in Kaduna. God bless you Mr. VP. |

While noting that the Speaker’s group had cited the Federal Character principle as the reason why they will not honour the party’s directive on the choice of the remaining principal officers, the lawmakers said that principle was not applicable to the National Assembly. “It should be noted that the Federal Character principle as embedded in the 1999 Constitution (as amended) is not justiciable and of no legal consequence. “Its provision in S.14 of the Constitution is only applicable to appointments in Federal Ministries and Agencies. “The House of Representatives is not an agency of the Federal government and the principal officers’ positions are elective and not by appointment. “If the Federal Character is applicable to the National Assembly, then both the Senate President and the Speaker cannot come from the North, one of them should be advised to step down,” they argued. |
For instance, 40 per cent of those who enjoy our mother and child hospital’s facilities are from neighboring states and this is a programme designed only for residents in the state irrespective of their state of origin. So for people from other states to continue to enjoy the facility, they would have to pay a premium.”Nice |
Way to go...Good development. Lagos state started it. Now Ondo state. Ogun state to follow. We'll get there. |
ShowYourCertificate:I doubt if you read the post Gov. Oshiomole was talking about GEJ's administration. |
unuane1:I do. |
I just like this man. He's not lazy at all like some former VPs. This is how it's done in the western world that we're trying to copy. The VP understands that he's elected by the people to serve the people not to be served by the people. |

modskiller:You think politics is about screaming up and down or running from pillar to post like Saraki is doing....Tinubu is not called master strategist for nothing, ask Obasanjo, Bode George, Jonathan, Atiku, Kwankwaso even Buhari and they'll tell you. Believe it or not, Saraki, Dogara and other traitors will prefer Tinubu to speak out rather than being silent. |
