Blinding

The purpose for blinding is to provide a clean surface for our strip foundation as well as our pad footing.

It is done with weak concrete

Please could anyone here state the cost of architectural design of a 3-4 bedroom bungalow.

What does it mean to have the electrical and mechanical drawings done separately?

Electrical drawing shows you information about power, lighting, etc
While
Mechanical drawing provides info about plumbing, ventilation etc and as such, it is different from Electrical drawing

But then, you don’t need electrical or mechanical drawing when seeking for approval for bungalow at least in Lagos state.

You can get it if you can afford it, it helps serve as a plan and guide to workmen on site.

Hello gurus on this educating thread, i want to seize this opportunity to thank you all for the well seasoned information I've gathered from here. We started our kobokobo project 2months ago and below are the pics of how far we have gone. It's a 5 room bungalow with penthouse as the current economy won't permit us own a duplex yet. �.
PS: the height of the foundation is 6coaches of blocks + the beam all round which makes it about 7coaches before German flooring. Please what is the pros and cons of this type of foundation. It's on a dry table and solid ground.

This kind of floor beam is usually introduced in a sloppy terrain, or where the foundation height needs to be high

The perceived advantage are

1) It connects all the column and make them act monolithically

2) Consider building a tall fence without providing an intermediate beam, it will crumble because of it unsupported height

3) when settlement occurs in the building, the connected beam makes the structure settle in unionism instead of settling differentially

4) with your already 6 foundation block and 10 extra going up, we will have a column height greater than 15ft, hence it (foundation /tie beam) will serve as a column breaker.

5) Also remember that tall foundation will mean more backfilling, hence more load acting on both the internal and external walls, therefore introducing the ground beam will provide more strength to the foundation.
