Pack and go.
That's what Nigeriansike to say.
Do you know the jobs they create directly and indirectly in Nigeria.

As for SA. Its monthly. So and yes telcos changed but remember that the technology in telcos and tv is different. In that tech improves in
Telcos faster.

Why don't Netflix or apply music do pay as you go?

Ask yourself that?

Its business and not charity.

In 2001 when DStv came to Nigeria. It was ₦8k. Those that paid no complain.
They crashed the price as the technology improves and as it works with their business plan..

Lets not regulate companies in Nigeria. Shit like this scares investors. Let the market determine price.
Lets lick their asses and get the jobs... that what people like you always like to say.
If that is Ok by you, it is not Ok by many of us.
So because DSTV is employing Nigerians, we should allow them to exploit us?
You sound like a Multichoice staff.
That was what MTN was saying when they told them to adopt Pay as you go. Today how much is MTN making after they adopted Pay as you go?
Business is a Win- Win. You cant be making billions while i am not getting good value for my money.
I repeat they should pack and go if they wont deal.

Use your common sense and don’t be selfish,it’s easy to operate pay as you go in a country where there is stable electricity unlike Nigeria where there is no light and they might not make a kobo if they implement pay as you go,Infact lot of developed countries does not allow pay as you go in order to protect the company from bankruptcy
Football right is paid yearly or by percentage not pay as you go,they should go after network provider who are ripping people by refusing to provide infinite monthly data sub
So why is MTN and other Telcos doing Pay as you Go" not out of Business?
Didnt they say they will be out of business of they do Pay as you go? And today, after doing pay as you go, they are still racking in billions.
And isnt Startimes doing Pay as you Go?
Multichoice are damn selfish. They monopolize the market, get the TV rights and bully and frustrate other Pay TV Providers who intend to make the market more competitive.
Pls stop arguing rubbish. Pay as you go is very very possible.
They should pack their loads and go if they wont deal.
That is when they will lose when they lose 40% of the Market and profit.

Yes they don't do pay as you go.

Have you tried to subscribe for data on pay as you go compared to monthly subscription.

When you do, decide which is cheaper for you.

Stunts like this don't help the masses.
DStv isn't our problem. People are struggling to eat & live everyday & those people who receive fat cheques focus on something that ¾ of Nigerians can't afford.
Rather, i think my first question should have been : Are you a DSTV subscriber?
I think you miss the point when u try to analyse the issue with Telcos. It is similar but not same.
Dont forget it was same excuse MTN was telling Nigeria that Pay as you Go is not possible. And that Sim cards cannot be sold below a certain amount or they will be out of biz.
Today, all these are possible because they were forced.
By the way, is Startimes or any other Pay TV doing Pay as you Go? Yes.
How are they doing it?
Govt is a problem. Yes i agree with you. But then that dont mean that should be the basis for other unneccessary problems to thrive.
If DSTV dont want to do " Pay as you Go" let them pack their loads and go.
Nigeria is their biggest market. We have to leverage on that and cut a deal.

Please if you are not sure of something, don't claim to know.

Multi choice doesn't do pay as you go in SA. And these rep people, is DStv our problem?
The poor health care, security issue, poor education is there and it's DStv that's their concern.
Pathetic people
Can you say authoritatively that DSTV dont do Pay as you go in South Africa and other countries?
Are you saying those pushing the bill have not done thier findings. before trying to push the bill?
Or you know more than them?
When Lawmakers try to make laws that benefits the common man, it is the very common man that will kill the move.
And later they will say the lawmakers are not doing anything.

U Pay as you go actually make no sense, the company will run down
They should just allow people to select Channel of their choice and pay for it as it’s done in developed world
And why is the company not running down in South Africa and many other countries that Multichoice operate Pay as you Go?
It is absolutely true that ass licker Nigerians like you are the reason why foreigners will come to Nigeria and rubbish us here.
Dstv cant try this in another country.
If Dstv wants to run down, let them run down. They should just stop exploiting us.

And what exactly are you trying to explain in this your story?
That DSTV should not do pay as you go?
You better be very careful with that your leaking mouth.

When the Fulani Herdsmen ranksack communities, kill, rape and burn down communities on daily basis, we dont hear that the Police are hunting down the herdsmen. Rather the govt will warn the communities against reprisal attacks.
But when the community kill a single herdsman, a man hunt is immediately launch to find the killers.
Fulani Herdsmen from Sudan, Mali Chad and Niger have become first class citizens in Nigeria over Nigerians.

But where was the sophisticated and educated south when all these were going on?

This question was also running through my mind as I read the OP.
Rather than form a unified and Strong Southern Region to tackle the Monolithic North, The South - ( West and East) has always been unfocused and more engrossed at outwitting each other and play second fiddle to the North and be the "loyal bride" at different points in time.
Politics › Re: North Has Already Destroyed Itself – 1: Dele Sobowale by CharleyBright(m):
Very apt and factual points.
The Nigerian Military through Northern Heads of States deliberately helped ensured that the North will be perpetual beneficiary of a parasitic and shambolic union with the Southern Nigeria. And the present Democratic setting that has a Northern dominance was deliberately fashioned out to maintain the Status quo.

There is no where in the world that a policy such as Educationally Disadvantage and Federal Character can be enshrined in the constitution to allow a certain region be large beneficiaries at the expense of others without a timeline to ensure that such region become Educationally advantaged. The North is contented to be termed Educationally disadvantage and does nothing to change that status for the mere fact that it continually wants to benefit from the privilege.

The Northern Almajiri system is a serious challenge not only to the North, but the Entire Nigeria. The system has provided a ready army of societal miscreants and terrorists that are being exported to other regions of the country.
The army of Almajiris are now spread out to different parts of the country disguising as herdsmen but in truth are the present day band of bandits and kidnappers on the highways.

In my reckoning, i have the feeling that the Northern elites are aware that the Almajiri cancer they brew has almost destroyed the North, and they will be glad that the cancer is exported to other parts of the country.
The North has caused more problem to Nigeria than it has helped solved.

Funny People.
Can you hear yourself?
The Southern people are always politically foolish.
The North very well know the political weakness of the South and will always use it against the south to retain power in the North.
Let me tell you something.... come 2023 the power will still remain in the North.
The North is done with the South West. The North will contest for Presidency and will pick VP from the East and pitch the West against the West.
The East will gladly accept the VP slot to get back at the West, and the Southern votes will be divided. The North will vote enmass for their own and the Northern candidate will win and retain power in the North.

Continue to brag about The West defeating the East at the poll. The North dont care about the South West or South East so long as power remains in the North.

My point is, the north can only vote for Sanusi in an election if he's the only one from the region.
But power brokers won't even throw up Sanusi as the only choice.
Kikikikikikiki. I laugh.
Who are the power brokers you talk about?
What do you know about Nigerian political and Northern politics to be specific?
Let me tell you something as a matter of factly, when it comes to Politics, the North has always seen far beyond what the South sees.
The North has been in power far more than the south has been in power. And all the time anyone has been in power, it has been under the benevolent concession of the Northern elites.

Now let me tell you something critically true... For the past decades Lagos State has became very critical in deciding where political power sways. Lagos is a No man's land. Whoever wins Lagos State wins the Presidential elections. Not all politicians know this, but i guess some smart Northern politicians have realise this and are trying to cash in.

Now, why do you think Sanusi Lamido has been relocated to Lagos state? Why not any of the numerous Northern State?
Lagos is politically key, and it is part of the Northern game plan for Sanusi to be located in Lagos to shore up acceptance and support for him.
2023 Presidential Candidacy for Sanusi lamido is sure. He is the Northern joker plan. The North has kick started their quest to retain power in the North.
Too bad, the South are still sleeping.

Good.
As one of the rich oil producing states, the Governor has taken a bold and credible step by investing in agriculture to diversify its revenue.
Looking inward is the way to go.
Ironically, the Governors of the poor Northern states sit down doing nothing and wait for monthly allocations.
This is why we clamour for restructuring so that some regions will be more responsible and seek for ways to bring something to the National Table.

Yes the north are one, but have you ever seen them vote in someone with a moderate view of life?
Sanusi is not someone with a moderate view of life (as u say), neither is he someone that should be under rated as a political paperweight. Granted, Sanusi doesnt have much of a political experience. But then, political experience dont win elections... supports and acceptability does.
If Sanusi does contest Presidential election, he might very likely win because he will gain massive support in the North and still split massive votes in the South.
The North will massively support and vote for Sanusi so long as the political power remains in the North.
The South will foolishly split the Southern votes with the dirty South west and South East wars, and give the North another 8yrs in power through Sanusi Lamido.
The Southern politicians should be united and get their acts right.
Sanusi Lamido is the North game plan of retaining power.
