Don't allow anyone deceive or follow the narrative that demo account doesn't have real feelings like real account.
That's greed talking....

Always try out new plans, strategy while you are still developing yourself, till you reach the point you know exactly what you need.

Always backtest your plans, and stick to it in forward test, no matter the outcome. Stay true to your plan.

Depending on your strategy always demo for 6-12 months,
If you succeed, you have better understanding of your plan, yourself and ROI expectations.

When you go live, don't have the mindset of withdrawing weekly or monthly, na there you begin fail.

Have it in the back of your mind, that when you go live you won't withdraw till at least 6 months.

Go small, initially when going live a $10 on cent account would make it look like $1,000
That should be sufficient enough for you to test out your plans

There's no shortcuts or rushing in the market, e go humble you.

Always note out your mistakes with notes and screenshot.

You just wrote how I have been following this journey. My demo account feels real because if I don't make it so, I know I'm only wasting my resources.

It is because of how real I made it that has kept me cautious from blowing the account. And between July and November, I can tell the difference between my trading attitude from January till June.

I closed my GJ open position with 370 pips and I added a new position on USDCAD risking only about 15 pips.
My long term plan till next few months for GJ is bearish so I'll be looking to capitalize on every bearish opportunities that the market presents.

I held AJ for days. I closed on Monday night, Tuesday was the party. It looks like gold wants to play the same way.

See what US$8K + became today.........Today is another day of profit share..........I will tell my story.

Last week, I achieved a profit of $US8K and decided to stop trading, so I brought my profit split date forward from 31st Nov to 4th November. 2days after, I saw a sure trade and entered, gbam, it went opposite, I fought back, changed my profit split back to normal 31st of November, then I regained some of the loss, at US$7K - I requested my date brought forward again to 4th of November (this was 3rd time). Then I saw sure trade, I entered, went opposite down to $3K - then I was ready to fight back, I requested the 4th time to change my date back to 31st but the system did not allow me; stated that maximum change is 3 - wow... na so battle begin oooo, I pleaded to ftmo support to do this as one time and last time, they said NO that it is in our agreement........chai, na so battle start oooo that I must bring up my profit in the remaining 2days to 4th of November.

Na so I entered M15 to scalp and intraday ooo, chai, see gold ranged throughout after that surge......profit became $400, chai, I fought and raised it to $878 profit, ftmo will close this account by today's close and share my 80% profit - then they give me another fresh $100K account tomorrow.

LESSONS HERE:
1. Read the agreement line by line, know the details - now I learnt on the job and from experience that maximum profit split is 3
2. When you make a suitable % profit, stop and start over on the new account given, only you can define what is suitable.
3. Stick to your gun: in this case, ftmo's profit split maximum change rule caused me to go to M15,,, CHAI
4. Protect your account at all cost: This is what has kept me going with them - it gives you another opportunity for another day - if I had lost this account, I'm game over with them........now see, though I gave huge money back to the market - I am still in the game, I will be getting another fresh $100K account after this profit is shared today/tomorrow..........PROTECT YOUR ACCOUNT AT ALL COST.

This message is just to show the house that I'm not here flaunting only the good parts of my trading career, I also have the bad side but I don't let them get in me.

Tomorrow's NFP direction may be the most obvious to me prediction-wise.

Overall, I'm happy for growth.

Once upon a time, I said I liked the idea of $index approaching 95/96.

We may not be far from these prices. Tomorrow will be exciting

I am still very bearish on gold because two key requirements which I look out for have been met; last week's low was broken and price has retraced to a discount price (my OTE). The last condition before I can short is to see price fail to break 1798.90 upon the next short term bullish impulse.

My preferred TP is below 1750.


Pardon the poor image quality

After my break from trading (burning $80 in the process) on my practice account, I returned last week with a good set of eyes and I think I'm making progress.

I'm only sad that I have been unable to replicate it on the ongoing trials( totally my fault though).

But I'm re-building my confidence.

What is giving gold this steroids? .


I'm so keen to see NFP effect on gold. I'm still bearish provided last week's high remains intact.

The issue is, I don't think the competition organisers are following the rules strictly else most would have been disqualified because of the 40% net drawdown rule. This is because there no way someone using 10lot on gold won't have 40pips net drawdown with makes 40% drawdown for disqualification.

I was surprised how they achieved such a result in such a short time. So i started thinking, and eventually got it. They were trading 10 lots of gold.

The trade went -40pips(about $4k) and ranged for hours, and I was like pic2.
I woke up this morning to see myself in the top250 in the competition, pic3 and I was like(pic4) you see? Those bastards, they aren't invisible after all.

Lol, boss. It was a no brainer. I knew folks would open 10 lots at once. Gold and oil had me waiting for 24 hrs before we started the dance .

But a swing trader stands no chance against these aggressive scalpers

Once 1805 is broken we are seeing 1835 between today and tomorrow.

I think that the high of the week has been formed and since we couldn't go past last week's high, we would be seeing that 1740 price next.

Now, I want us to dialogue on what your take is on this trade:
Please take time to look at H4 to see a detailed view of how gold behaved between yesterday and today.
Would you have exited when I was already bagging US$14,000+ or would you have waited like I did and bagged the US$4,895?
Will you be pained for that?
At a point today, price returned from my $14,900+ to entry point (US$0) - see that bearish candle on the 4H. How would you have reacted when you saw this?

Ok. This is familiar. I lost my USDCAD trade which I held for weeks because i had "over refined " my target. I went later to study quarterly shifts for that pair and I understood which shift in market structure is the real one different from "just retracement".

From what I see on gold chart, I wouldn't have closed my position because we just broke last week's high heading to last month's high (as I believe). The long wick on H4 didn't create a new lower low. So I would have stayed.

Forex is adductive and time consuming, combining it with school is not easy

It's time consuming, TRUE.
It's really difficult combining the business with academics but some of us are pulling it off.

And of course, we could just be the outliers. All I'm saying is, you could have avoided generalization in the quote.
