That moment when u thought your husband has the country at his beck and call... Firefire: Senators who stayed away from Tuesday’s inauguration of the national assembly have finally been sworn in by the new senate president, Bukola Saraki.
There was drama when Remi, wife of Bola Tinubu, refused to shake hands with Saraki after her swearing-in on Wednesday morning, leaving his hand hanging and muttering some words to the senate president in a low tone.
Saraki had on Tuesday outwitted Tinubu-backed candidate, Ahmad Lawan, in the race for the nation’s No. 3 position.
However, other newly sworn-in senators shook hands with the senate president.
They were all absent at the inauguration as the ruling party had called for an emergency meeting simultaneously and could not be sworn in as required by law before they could take their seats in the red chamber.
Lawan, who was the preferred APC candidate, and George Akume, who was the preferred deputy, were both sworn in on Wednesday morning.
Twenty-six other senators-elect were also sworn in.
Some of them include APC senators Abdullahi Adamu (Nasarawa) Bukar Abba Ibrahim (Yobe), Gbenga Ashafa (Lagos), Olusola Adeyeye (Osun), Isiaka Adeleke (Osun), and Shehu Sani (Kaduna).
The senate thereafter went into a closed-session at 10:58 am.
APC had, in a press statement on Tuesday evening, instructed the absentee senators to report for the traditional swearing-in.

[poor surveillance quote author=nairalandist post=34613789]Our house is just a few plots from the Igando-Abaranje footbridge somewhere around Foursquare Gospel Church. We have been experiencing continual flooding due to the tiny size of the canal. The single canal here serves as exit for waters coming from Bakare in Ikotun LCDA, Abaranje and Igando and the size of the canal is just a little bit more than a gutter. Even the Foursquare Gospel Church in the next street is flooded but the water won't allow me go out to take much pictures. . . This happened just this morning.
Whenever there's heavy rainfall, the canal gets full and the water finds its way through to the streets.
I have sent emails and letters to the Lagos State Ministry of Environment, but there has been no response. Our gutters here are not the issue and nobody here dumps refuse in the drainage because I know that'd be the first question.
We urge the Lagos State Government under Gov. Akiwunmi Ambode to come to our aid and construct the canal once and for all.[/quote] |

This is the 8th day it remains 23 days and he has not visited sambisa forest, is this how a serious president should act?
Later he would call jonathan clueless, infact buhari is clueless too.
A president suppose to be in his country and settling issues, than walking about from one place to another. |

Look at dis thief talking wen he was governor of benue state, he did nothing for the people. Justices will start from you monsterrock: THERE WERE NO ELECTIONS FOR THE SENATE LEADERSHIP – Senator Dr. AKUME
The Senator Dr George Akume has responded to the elections conducted by the PDP faction of the members of the National assembly which “elected” Senator Bukola Saraki as the Senate President and Senator Ike Ekweremadu as Deputy Senate President.
Responding in a press conference held at his residence earlier today, about the outcome of the elections at the Senate, Senator Dr. George Akume alleged that what happened at the Senate today smacks of due process and also stressed that he had nothing against all those involved in the sham elections.
He said “People think they can use money to subvert democracy, but all that is rubbish and at the appropriate time we will speak.”
Senator Akume made reference to the straw polls conducted by the APC for its candidates as the APC lawmakers were at the ICC for a meeting called by the President when the sham elections went on.
He urged his supporters not to be angry or worry about the sham elections, but worry for those who have subverted democracy and in due time, justice will be served.
Senator Dr George Akume also reinstated that the sham will be pursued to the latter till the right thing is done.
