Sports / Re: Oliseh Favourite For Super Eagles Job? by checkdate(m): 8:43pm On Jul 03, 2014
lloydtruth:

A top brass of the Nigeria Football Federation Federation (NFF), who lead the panel that interviewed Sunday Oliseh Six years ago for the Eagles job before Amodu Shuaibu was appointed head coach has exclusively, told SL10 on the condition of anonymity that most members of the NFF are leaning towards the Ex-Eagles captain taking over from Stephen Keshi and contrary to claims by the Keshi the NFF are not persuading him to stay despite offering him a new two year deal.

"It's not a secret that Sunday Oliseh is the anointed one among us at the NFF, and the reason is obvious six years ago with Keshi in attendance as well,Oliseh came out top after an interview session but we were scared of gambling on him because he has no coaching experience prior to that interview, we asked him to understudy Amodu Shuaibu but he refused"

"The closest after him was then under-23 coach Samson Siasia but at that time he was preparing the Olympic team for the Beijing Olympics and we asked him to pick one as he can't combine both, he opted for the Olympic team, We had no choice than to give it to Amodu Shuaibu"

"With all due respect to Keshi back then he came last in the interview among them all, but before Samson Siasia was appointed they were the only two in contention, so when Siasia failed we hired him but we still have it at the back of our mind that Sunday Oliseh will one day be our coach and there is no better time for it to come to pass than now"

On claims Keshi was been persuaded to continue in his role, our source said there is no substance to his claims.

"We have made our position known to Keshi two year deal with certain clauses accept it or leave it,we can't beg him or persuade him because he is not doing it for free, he gets paid for his job and if the conditions are not favourable to him we have options and Oliseh is our top choice."

Family / Re: How To Help A Child To Improve His/her Creative Ability by checkdate(m): 10:34pm On Jun 28, 2014
Nehemiah459: Kids are natural innovators with powerful imaginations. And creativity offers a bounty of intellectual, emotional and even health benefits.

One study found that kids’ imaginations helped them cope better with pain. Creativity also helps kids be more confident, develop social skills, and learn better.

Below, three experts share how parents can encourage their kids’ creativity.

1. Designate a space for creating. Carving out a space where your child can be creative is important, said Pam Allyn, executive director of Lit World and Lit Life and the author of many books, including Your Child’s Writing Life: How to Inspire Confidence, Creativity, and Skill at Every Age.

But this doesn’t mean having a fancy playroom. It could be a tiny corner with a sack of LEGOs or a box of your old clothes for playing dress-up, she said. Allyn has seen creativity flourish in the most cramped spaces, including the slums of Kenya. The key is for your child to feel like they have power over their space, she said.

2. Keep it simple. Just like you don’t need to create an elaborate play area, you don’t need the latest and greatest toys either. Child educational psychologist Charlotte Reznick, Ph.D, suggested keeping simple games and activities. For instance, she plays LEGOs with her child clients. But instead of following instructions, the kids let the wheels of their imagination spin and build what they want.

3. Allow for “free time.” It’s also important to give your child unstructured time, Allyn said. Spend a few hours at home without activities scheduled, so your child can just putter around and play, she said.

4. Help your kids activate their senses. Expose your kids to the world so they can use all of their senses. Again, this doesn’t mean costly or complicated trips. Take them to the library, museum and outdoors, she said. Ask them to imagine what travelling to faraway places, such as the African safari, might be like, Reznick said. What animals would they encounter? What would the safari look like? What would it smell like? What noises would the animals make?

5. Discuss creativity. Ask your kids when they come up with their best ideas or have their most creative moments, If it’s in the car while getting to soccer practice, honor that by keeping a notebook, iPad or even a tape recorder handy.

6. Cultivate creative critical thinking. As your kids get older, ask them how they approach certain problems and how they might do things differently. Have your kids brainstorm their ideas on paper or use mind-mapping, she said.

7. Avoid managing. “Children have an amazing innate ability to be creative when they play freely on their own, and unfortunately, the act of overparenting dampens or even wipes out that innate ability,” So it’s important to figure out how to facilitate your child’s creativity without managing it, he said.

Lanza and his wife don’t hover over their three boys as they play, and they also don’t enrol them in many activities. Recently, Lanza’s oldest son invented an intricate game of marbles with its own complex rules. (As Lanza said, he doesn’t really understand it.) He’s even adjusted the rules so that his younger brother can win once in a while and the game continues.

Kids learn a lot by playing on their own. Lanza cited Jean Piaget’s The Moral Judgment of the Child, where he discusses “how children develop moral sensibilities and reasoning through playing marbles on their own.”

He also mentioned Alison Gopnik’s The Philosophical Baby, which describes how babies’ brains work. Gopnik asserts that babies are born experimental scientists that take in scrolls of information by trying things on their own and tweaking as they go. Being more hands-off helps kids figure out how to problem-solve and create in their own unique ways.

8. Help kids pursue their passions. Pay attention to your child’s interests and make these materials and activities available to them. Lanza’s oldest son is especially interested in geology, so Lanza buys him books on the topic along with rock samples.

9. Take the time for your own creativity. Since kids learn from watching their parents, be creative, too, Reznick said. Join your child when they’re drawing or building or coloring.

One little girl wanted her parents to help her build an art jungle in the living room, she said. At first mom was hesitant. But this provided a great opportunity for the family to bond, and everyone had a fun time.

It was obvious that all the politicizing bullsh*t he has been emphasizing on was directed towards Okorocha and not PDP. He spoilt his father's burial by being obviously partisan. As PDP dignitary was allowed to talk but Oguta people wanted Owelle to talk as hailings of Owelle was too much. Even at that Okorocha still laughed it off and greeted him warmly with smiles before leaving and his departure led most of the people out of the service angry with Charles.

fingard02k: Overview Match number 53 is the fifth match of the knock- out stages. France won 2 matches and drew 1 to collect 7 points to finish on top of Group E. Nigeria, on the other hand, won 1 match and drew 1 to collect 4 points to finish second in Group F.

France: France's performance in group stages was quite impressive. This is especially significant because there were several big European teams which failed to perform well in the tournament. Spain, Italy, England and Croatia failed to qualify for the "Round of 16" while France, which had a poor run at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, has been brilliant. France scored 8 goals in its first 2 matches. Karim Benzema has been playing well, scoring 3 goals in the first two matches.

The third match, however, was a striking contrast of its first two matches. The match against Ecuador ended in a goalless draw even though France had numerous opportunities to score.

There could have been 8-9 goals in the second half itself but there seemed to be a strange French inability to score. As we go to the knock-out stage, France needs to get back to its goal scoring approach.

Nigeria: Nigeria won against Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 and had a goalless draw against Iran to collect 4 points. However, its best performance came against Argentina even though it lost it 2-3.

Historically, the African team has an uncanny tendency of being in Argentina's group. Its best performance often comes against the South American team.

Nigeria played excellent football and scored goals soon after Argentina did. Vincent Enyeama, the Nigerian goalkeeper who was the man of the match in 2010 world cup match against Argentina, played brilliantly again and denied several goals. Ahmed Musa was fabulous in scoring two brilliant goals to match Lionel Messi.

Nigeria has all the fire power to match France if it manages to stay organised. Head to Head These two teams played only once times against each other before. Nigeria scored 1 goal to win the match. Key Players France: Karim Benzema and Moussa Sissoko Nigeria: Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa Date,

Time: 5:00 PM

The match will be held at Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha in Brasília.
GOD BLESS NIGERIA(SUPER EAGLES) WITH GRACE TO WIN.

fyneguy: Don’t contest 2015 poll – Prophet tells Jonathan
share

By Ayodele Olalere

Founder of the Evangelical Church of Yahweh, Lagos, Primate Theophilus Olabayo, has once again predicted that the country would experience more crises this year, warning President Jonathan not to contest the 2015 presidential election.

The prophet, known for his annual predictions, some of which he claimed came to pass, said unless Nigerians embark on fasting and prayer, more political crises and killings would occur.

“This year, the worst type of terrorism is coming; and corruption if not checked will cause great problems. Corruption has taken over Nigeria and God is about to judge Nigeria. There is an angel that is going to cleanse this country once and for all. The seat of the president is vacant. If at all there will be election, I see a northerner becoming president. The more they try to rig this coming election, the more violent it will become,” he said.

Olabayo, in an exclusive interview with Saturday Newswatch in Lagos, further said in spite of the numerous crises, the country would not break up.

“Those who are embezzling our money; if they are not dead, some of them would end up in prison. There are so many fake prophets who are saying the county will break up but it will not break up. There will be modalities. The Federal Government may not be powerful as before. There will be state police. God has prophesied it for long that there would be a constitutional conference. We have to pray so that it will succeed because I saw a storm coming and the storm would touch every sector of the country like economy, political; every sector of the country will be affected. There will be flood of the highest order.”

He added: “We have to pray for most of our leaders like former president Shehu Shagari, Maitama Sule, Rabiu Musa, Bola Tinubu and many others. They need prayers to survive, and they should pray against bereavement. This coming storm would enter churches because corruption has entered churches.

“I saw the poor facing the rich. Before the North Africans revolution, God revealed it to me and I said it. More powerful revolutions are coming to this country and that is why we have to be very careful. I saw the death of two prominent Obas. An attempt would be made to kidnap one of the governors in the South-West while Bamanga Tukur would be removed as PDP Chairman but he would be given an international assignment.”

Concerning President Jonathan, Olabayo warned him against contesting the 2015 election. He also warned the People Democratic Party against rigging the coming elections.

“PDP think they have a joker but that joker will fail them. If they attempt to rig this election, there will be anarchy in this country. Many people will still join APC. They will try to impeach the President but they will not succeed. President Jonathan needs to mellow down so that he will not be made the sacrificial lamb. He has to be prayerful to survive between now and 2015.”

Olabayo is however sad that in spite of his warnings against impending dangers, many people fail to listen to him.

“They call people like us prophet of doom but we are not bothered. In most cases in Nigeria, people don’t want the truth. All I have been saying have been coming to pass. Before Mandela came out of prison, God said it, even before his death God revealed it. Even before Chinua Achebe died, God said it and God revealed Chief Bola Ige would be killed if he took up political appointment and I warned him but he did not listen.”

2buff: We all know those degrees in college/university that when someone you know says they are doing, you can't help but cringe inside because you just know they would likely regret it after they finish school because of it's grim employability prospects. Unless they eventually get sharp enough and divert to something else.

These degrees serve as nothing but a means for the university offering them to eat the money of their students and sell them false hopes detached from real-world needs.

One that comes to mind for me is "Womens Studies". For the obvious reason of, well come on, it's obvious cheesy
