All Anioma dialects are understood by Anioma. It's funny you're asking someone who doesn't know shit about Anioma to explain this to you. Igbanke is not the only Ika speaking community in Edo. There are lots of Anioma communities in Edo but some of them are bilingual. From Ekpon to Ughomose, Igbogiri, Abudu, Owa RI Uzor, ogan, Iru speak Ika language. Even farther Down deep inside Edo, Ika is spoken as a second language. If you include Ika speakers in Edo State, Enuani speakers are not more than us.
Guy...is that not the HQ of orhiomwon LGhuh Or are you now trying to claim orhiomwon as Ali Ika?

shocked Where is Ikechu1 when you need him? If that is the case then why is Enuani the dominant dialect in the region?
He's correct on that premise...we're all called ika Igbos before and during the war. After the war,the name gradually came to be used on the clans inhabiting the Western parts of Anioma. Here's a 1931 map of the tribes in Igboland backing that up....thats why we laugh to scorn those of them who woke up after the war to claim they're now Bini undecided

STATE OF THE NATION*

I have been following closely the activities of this government and whenever I have the opportunity, I try to find out the opinions of people as regards the performance of this government.

I just realized that the hardship faced by many Nigerians is simply as a result of the fact that almost everyone of us benefited from the cycle of corruption.

The bricklayer, plumber, laborers, tiler are all complaining because building construction has slowed down massively cause the thieves no longer have money to spend on real estate.

The car dealers are grumbling because their cars are begging for buyers. Thieves can no longer spend wastefully.

The private school owners are shouting because parents can no longer pay outrageous sums and are withdrawing their wards.

I was shocked when I learn that in a popular private University in Abuja, parents are writing undertaking at the account section for their children to be allowed to write exams... and it goes on and on.

The fact is, a lot of people are returning to what someone referred to as ''default mode''.

We mostly have been living above our REAL MEANS.

We have been staying in houses that ordinarily our incomes can't afford.

Our children going to schools we can't afford. Driving cars we ordinarily can't maintain.

We have been living a FAKE LIFE all along. Now the reality is before us and we don't want to accept it.

This shows how morally bankrupt we are.

You can't eat your Cake and have it. Take Note..."GOD HELP AND BLESS NIGERIA"

You got billions from bank without collateral using your political influence. You put half into your business and spent the other half on exotic cars, jeweleries, etc.

Your business employs 100 people normally. You get illegal waivers and concessions to import raw materials at rock bottom prices, you get over-inflated contract to supply government some goods your company produce....in short your company is kept afloat by corruption.

Now the new SHERIFF in town says:

no more ridiculous waivers,
no more inflated contracts, no more bank loans without collateral, in fact its time you or your company pay off the billions of debt owed.....

AMCON takes over your company, staff are laid off......And you go on air and say the new sheriff is killing business and causing unemployment..

The truth is....you and your company were never in business, you were only feeding off the system.

Too many companies and banks are funded by corruption. Remove corruption from the system and they collapse.......and we end up blaming the person that removes corruption for the collapse of the corruptly run fake company.

Its like our system and corruption are so interwoven and inseparable that removing one will kill the other.

Maybe we should tolerate and learn to live with corruption so that Nigeria can survive?

Recession: What recession? If you think Nigeria is broke, then you are living in another planet. Now, please read the information below and tell me why Nigerians crying of hardship are comfortable with the bold looting of their collective wealth by the politicians.

A SELF DECEIVING COUNTRY CALLED NIGERIA

Twenty-one senators currently receiving pensions from government as ex-governors and deputy governors.

The current senators who once served as governors are Bukola Saraki of Kwara, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano, Kabiru Gaya of Kano, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, Theodore Orji of Abia, Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarawa, Sam Egwu of Ebonyi, Shaaba Lafiagi of Kwara, Joshua Dariye of Plateau Jonah Jang of Plateau, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto, Ahmed Sani Yarima of Zamfara, Danjuma Goje of Gombe, Bukar Abba Ibrahim of Yobe, Adamu Aliero of Kebbi, George Akume of Benue and Isiaka Adeleke of Osun.

The former deputy governors in the Senate are Ms Biodun Olujimi of Ekiti and Enyinaya Harcourt Abaribe of Abia. Danladi Abubakar Sani served as the acting governor of Taraba state.

Many former governors are also in Buhari's Cabinet as Ministers. This includes: Ngige, Fayemi, Amaechi and Fashola (SAN).).

In Akwa Ibom State, the law provides that ex governors and deputy governors receive pension equivalent to the salaries of the incumbent. The package also includes a new official car and a utility vehicle every four years; one personal aide; a cook, chauffeurs and security guards for the governor at a sum not exceeding N5 million per month and N2.5 million for his deputy governor.

In Rivers, the law provides 100 percent of annual basic salaries for the ex-governor and deputy, one residential house for the former governor “anywhere of his choice in Nigeria”; one residential house anywhere in Rivers for the deputy, three cars for the ex-governor every four years and two cars for the deputy every four years.

It is alledged that in Lagos, a former governor will get two houses, one in Lagos and another in Abuja, estimated at N500 million in Lagos and N700 million in Abuja. He also receives six new cars to be replaced every three years; a furniture allowance of 300 percent of annual salary to be paid every two years, and a N30 million pension annually for life.

This is the reality for all the 21 ex govenors and deputy governors who are currently serving as senators. This same is also true of ex governors who are now serving as Ministers.

NOW I ASK:
How many years did these guys serve their states as governors and deputy governors? Is it more than 8years? Is that a reason to be entitled to pensions for life? Even if they are entitled to pension for life, must it be so outrageous?

As if that is not enough: HOW on earth can any public servant with conscience collect salaries and allowances as a senator or minister, and still have the audacity to claim pensions equivalent to the salaries of a serving governor in Nigeria?

IT ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE......

Once you are elected a senator or appointed a minister, you must forfeit any pension accruing to you from government at any level until you vacate office. This should also apply to senators collecting military pensions like former Senate President David Mark.

Yet these senators are in the Senate that is inviting the current finance minister to discuss the recession of Nigeria's economy. A senator pockets approximately 30 million naira monthly as salary and allowances. Our "honourables" are not interested to make laws that could restructure our country into economically autonomous federating States/Regions to save the country from sectional agitations that is threatening to destroy Nigeria. The sad and hopeless situation is that the rest of Nigerians are busy arguing based on party, ethnic and affiliations while these enemies of state continue to rape us.

Do you know that it costs tax payers 290m Naira yearly to maintain each member of our National Assembly in a country where nothing works & 80% of population earn below 300 Naira a day ? A working day earning of a senator is more than a yearly income of a doctor; it's more than the salary of 42 Army generals or 48 professors or 70 commissioners of police or more than twice the pay of the US President or 9 times the salary of US congressmen.

It's high time the country had a referendum on those outrageous salaries of Senators, House of Representative members and other political office holder.
How much is your pay per post? undecided

My happiness is that our people have woken up to reality and that reality is that no ethnicity in Nigeria wishes the Igbo well. They hate us from the very depths of our soul and won't hesitate to severely deal with us in whatever way they can as can be seen from the pogroms in the North against Igbos that has been going on since 1945 and the economic sabotage being carried out on us by the West.

All this type your post would elicit from the Edos towards the Igbo is more Igbophobia, and that's what these Yorubas are counting on.

You don't build bridges with such posts as yours.
in as much as Ndiigbo want to rid western Igboland of all Edo influence that was planted there centuries ago, we have no interest in Igbonizing the Edos, as the Edos have an ancestral obligation to preserve their own heritage.
Yes I believe in live and let live and that's has been our motto for thousands of years but these Bini guys do piss me off at times undecided bkos they got guns from the Portuguese(Potoki in Igbo), they used that in terrorizing our fathers. Go all over Anioma, each clan has tales of atrocities committed by Idu. Things later evened out after we defeated them in the Ubulu war and since then things have been balanced out. Now they're back trying to claim Anioma as Bini land bkos it was part of their infamous empirehuh
Anyway am cool with them for now...but I'd greatly appreciate it if they don't bring their Bini ish near any part of Anioma.

This has been the mission of the Igbos and they're already succeeding in Anioma and other minority groups around them. You people use your population to achieve this evil. Sometimes I wonder if what is happening to the Igbos is as a result of how they treat the minority groups around them. This may be karma catching up with you people.
Anioma has always been Igbo so I don't see that as an achievement undecided
We used population during the slave trade era but now,we'd use it in combination with another method that ensures that your Edo people adopt Igbo mannerisms, culture and language subconsciously. Maybe the only place that may still be speaking Bini in Idu would be the palace. It has already happened in Ekpon and is spreading across the rest of ishanland.

I agree with you ultimately.
The Benins shot themselves in the foot.

Initially they wanted to have the midwest to themselves and rule over it as supremes, and having some sort of pseudo empire, where Benin city would be Alpha, thinking that we were still in the age of empires.
By the time everyone is done. Benin might end up being just Oredo, Egor and Ikpoba Okha.
And god help them by then.
Moreover I've a very bold plan that I want to set in motion by 2020. This plan would see the complete Igbonization of Idu by 2100. Moreover the Igbo I'd use isn't that spoken by the Ika but the one spoken by the Isiama people. Just like the khitan, Bini people would only exist in folklore grin

I just decided to jump into the discourse to have fun.

I can even say the place called Ogdi in Anambra is of Yoruba origin, because there is a Yoruba town called Ogidi.
Or that the place called Oba near onitsha was founded by some Eribos of a Benin or Yoruba Oba.
EVeryone can cook up things, but that does not make them all correct.

Obviously you are pained that Benin and EVEN Yoruba influences can be found in Igboland, but Igbo influences are confined to just igbo communities.
Don't be so fast bro grin
Most of the cultural practices in Edo and igala were initiated by Nri. Here are some examples
1]the four day week that corresponds to cardinality was initiated by Nri. These days afo, eke, orie, nkwo also exist in igala and Benin and are practiced by them till this day!
2]the Igue(Igwe in Igbo) festival that honors the sky was initiated by Nri priests who lived at agbor. Every dick and harry knows that the Igbo for sky is IGWĒ cheesy
3]the new yam festival is celebrated across Igboland, and other parts of the South originated in Nri
4]as a priestly caste Nri was responsible for the purging of abominations and taboos all across Igboland, Idu and Igalaland..I even heard their influence extended to the Ijo(rukwo in Igbo) people

So you can see it was both ways...Nri saw that no matter the political situation of the times, the spirituality of all the nations in the SE/SS never faltered

in your post you said Agburu is the Igbo word for lineage. In Ika lineage is Agbon and not Agburu
This submission of yours makes me understand you don't know the difference btwn language and dialect. See Igboland has five cultural zones and terminologies shared btwn members of a cultural zone are almost the same.
Using the term for lineage as example, there are at least three variations of it used across Igboland and they're Agbò, Agburu(Agbru) and Agbu. It all depends on what your cultural area uses.
Another is the term for house...the northerners and some westerners use "uno" to express their own, the central areas(isuama) use "ulo", the southerners especially the owerre, the ikwerre use "oro"(I also heard ikas use "olo" too) while the easterners use "uhu"(some southerners also use uhu too)
Another example is the term for thing...northerners and westerners use "ife" to express their own, the central areas use "ihe" which is the same as standard Igbo while the southerners especially the Ngwa and Ikwerre use "he" to express their own while the easterners use "ive" to express theirs.
I can go on and on but I want you to understand the drift..which is that Ika is a dialect of Igbo just as ikwerre is or Aro or Izi or Ubani. These are all dialects of Igbo so you can't expect their terminologies to be the same but every other marker used to mark a language shows that ika is Igbo.

Cant help but notice that the name is similar to the Igbo name called Emeka.

Wat does Eweka mean in Bini, does anybody know?

Could the name be a corrupt version for the igbo name Emeka?

Could igbos from Nri have founded the bini kingdom and due to mixing with yorubas created the bini dialect?
Guy...to get the Igbo variant of Bini names starting with E,just change it to I
For example eweka is iweka in Igbo, esama is isama though it doesn't apply in all cases.

Why can't you use your senses? Dein of Agbor said all that in an interview and you chose to believe that interview was real? Agbor was formerly called Agbon before it was anglicicized. Lineage is called Agbon in Edo and Anioma and There is no relationship between Agbon and Agburu. Look for another lie. Dein never said this. Paste the link to this your interview let's see.
Don't drag me into the gutter of ignorance you're currently residing in biko angry go and ask the dein why he said that don't ask me.
Now coming to Agbon...I don't speak Bini but am glad you said it yourself that Agbon is the Bini for lineage, and anyone who's a linguist who know that there's a relationship btwm Agbon and Agbo. All the Igbos from igbanke down to the whole Anioma even across the river to Anambra and parts of Imo and Rivers use Agbo as their term for lineage.
Igbo as a language unlike Bini and Yoruba doesn't have nasalized vowels.. They were removed in 1962 when written Igbo was standardized. That was the compromise southern and western Igbos gave in exchange of their dialects being adopted as the basis for standard Igbo.
If that nasalization was retained, Igbo would still be spelling lineage as Agbon instead of the Agbo we use now.
As further emphasis on my piece..
Comparing ika to onicha dialect one would see that the words are essentially the same except for the addition of "n" in ika variants. For eg Dei in onicha becomes Dein in ika, Agbò in onicha becomes agbon in ika, ebo in onicha becomes ebon in ika
Like I told gerg, you too need to expand your horizon and stop looking ignorant undecided
