Johnadelaide00: Please house what is cost of P.O.P ceiling P/SM
The cost varies from city (region/state) to city. Generally, it should fall within the 1.5k - 2k per square meter (labour only), with you buying the materials
Good day Folks. Please, how much does Interlocking stones cost either per unit or square meter? Also, how many of such individual stones would make up a square meter?
desiji: It is a Law in Germany that any House that has more than two floors must (Emphasis on must) have a lift
Thanks, that's why I asked him specifically where in Germany he saw the building. Older houses built almost a century ago may not have lifts, but then, they rarely go beyond 2 or 3 floors
spyder880: 1. What's the likely cost of fitting a small elevator (say 1.2 metres sq) in a house with 5 floors in Nigeria?
2. Which are the leading companies in elevator installation and maintenance in Nigeria?
I just want to understand why the use of elevators is not widespread in the country.
Electricity, or lack thereof, is the major bane. Most who can afford a multi storey house can as well spare some few more millions, but no be nepa person go rely.
MODALSOUL1: your plan would make more sense Horizontally . master bedrooms are ideal at the back . The two bedrooms on the right side are ideal on the left . In any case, I always see bungalows as a waste of space . What does it cost to dig just one more feet and go higher? that's why the Japanese and even Chinese are smart. on that piece of land they could build a 7 storey. The building below is in a small rapidly developing town in Germany. it measures 50 feet by 60 feet and has only stairs and no elevator . it contains 3 bedroom apartments . I think the Nigerian government should enact a law encouraging 5 storey and above . even if you have no money at least lay the foundation . government should lend money to complete . Even if an individual is building a private residence, doesn't it just make more sense to build nothing less than a duplex? My opinion ,Brother
Where in Germany is this building located? It's almost unthinkable to high rise buildings more than 3 floors without a lift in Germany, unless it is an old renovated building
Rubbiish: Okay thanks Guess it is solely for application of tiles?
No sir. You mix it with water according to directions given by the manufacturer and apply. It levels off every uneven surface giving you a perfectly level floor. When later, for example, doors are mounted, you won't see any slight opening or parts where the door "dey scratch floor." Sometimes it can be horrifying seeing the way we affix tiles in Nigeria. Very clumsy and unappealing. Leveling the floor first would improve the looks of the tiles
Rubbiish: Mixture correctng it uneveness without the application of a tool? Have u see this kind of cement anywhere before? Because i don't think we have such here & there is an instrument for leveling used by tilers.
You mix it and pour on the floor and it automatically corrects any unevenness on the floor. That way, laying of tiles, carpets or parquet becomes easier
jadell: Good evening house, please I am trying to find out if it makes any economic and aesthetic sense to choose PVC (amoula to be precise) over POP considering the prices are almost the same.
Regards
Please go for POP. It's safer, more durable and look good aesthetically. I considered using Innoson for part of my project, but when I got a quote from them and compared it with the cost of doing POP, I had to beat a retreat. If you don't have all the fund at once, you can realise the project in bits. I have completed now almost 300 square meters
I watched the video and was quite revealing , I don't see reason why such technology cannot be deployed in the country to solve the housing gaps buy the local , state and federal government with different houses plans to accommodate all strata of people of the society
This benefits of this video after watching are numerous ,below are a few
1.Time savings in delivery time 2. No wastages (Agile management ) 3.Huge cost savings at the long run based on economy of scale 4. Quality assurance 5.Elimination of middle men in the chain of supply
The list can go on and on, how I wish One can introduce this building style inhe country for personal estate development.
Many thanks for your contribution the property section
Look for the production video and watch. The original videos are in German and that will tell you the reason why it might not work for us here, unless we are talking about massive importation of the blocks (estimated 40ft container per house as can be seen from the delivery truck on the video attached by Chief EgunMogaji, the quantity required to finish a house )
mufutau55: Is cement/sand use to join this foam blocks? I don't see any. Thx.
Hajji M.
Hahahahaha, Otunba Hajj, that's no foam blocks ooo. The cement used is applied very thinly, but very strong. See attached pictures. Besides, the blocks have matching (mirrored) grooves, which allows for perfect fitting
EgunMogaji: Thailand Bungalow, they use this brick that can be cut with a saw. Does anyone know the material? I like how they don't rely on the partition for strength but columns.
In German, it is called "poren Beton" (porous concrete blocks) and the best brand is YTONG. I did post about it some years back on one of Spyder's projects. It's very light but has almost the strength of Concrete. During the production process, Aluminium Oxide is added with reacts to create the pores, You can read up on it. Some residential homes in Germany are constructed using the blocks
earthrealm: pls i need estimate for the following.
1. pop cost per sq meter 2. tiling cost per square meter
if anybody can gimme labour cost persq meter separate, that would be great
100k for the POP is too expensive for 15m². For materials, it shouldn't take more than 7 bags of white cement and 5kg of sponge. Get them to tell you how much they would take per m², which usually is 1k while you purchase the materials. Alternatively, 3k per m² seems fair for both materials and labour. I have just finished almost 200m² of pop
alstacs: HI bro. I notifed you used 40 bags of cement and 40kg of fibre for 120sqm, may I assume that it is generally 1 bag of cement and 1kg of fibre for 3 sqm of POP ceiling? Or are there other factors that determine this?
In addition, what would you advise? To run electric cables before POP ceiling or cables could be run later? I noticed price of cables nor de smile now oh...
In drawing up your budget, that would be a safe estimate to use. I was informed later that 2 and a half bags of white cement wasn't used. If you are on ground to buy the materials and supervise the work, you can always buy your material as required. The advice of Elders and professionals is to finish with the electrical wirings and plaster before doing the POP. At least, that's what I did.
Talk to our in-house electrical experts here and they'll advise you on how best to go about extracting a little smile off the cost of cables. I bought mine from one of us on this platform. Good luck in your endeavours
meohio7777: Hello Guys, I am honestly seeking for a professional advice on the first step and quotation in completing of my 4 Unit flats(3 bedroom x2 and Room and Parlor self contain. I would like to know how much Cash should I be looking at to raise... Here are the things I need quotations for..
POP at least 8-10mm thick(Materials included) Walls SCREEDING IN/OUT FENCE AND GATE TWO SEPTIC THANKS HOUSE FITTINGS
Project location Ajah Lagos.
Urgent response Team
Thanks
I am currently on POP, so will give you an idea on the likely cost estimation. I have 120 m² concluded already and a further 100 m² ongoing. I bought the materials quoted by the guys handling the project. For their workmanship, I paid 1k per m². The cost of materials would likely be significantly cheaper in Lagos than in Ebonyi state. For the materials and how much I paid for them, you'll find the info on page 809 onwards on this thread. I had previously posted them
jabolo: Chief, what was the P-O-P unit cost? Thanks
I bought the Materials (to cover the 120 sq M, 40 bags of white cement and 40 kg of the sponge (or whatever they call it)) and the guys charged 1500 per sq M as their workmanship (actually it was the supervisor/contractor who upped the amount, the guys charged 1000 Naira). In all, I spent about 410k Naira on the POP
Now I am considering whether or not to use POP for the rest of the rooms or PVC. About 10-12 bundles of 8-inches PVC would be required to cover the 170 sq M. Innoson is selling a bundle for 24k. If I opt to use POP, I would need to buy about 65 bags of white cement and 65 kg of the sponge.
I must say that the guys did a very neat and good job
Marpol: I won't advice you to go for PVC. Why not just do POP? Except its a commercial house.
It is a personal/family house. Both parlours and their respective sit out areas have already been done with pop (120 m²). There are 6 rooms to be done and altogether about 170 m² so comparing cost and it seemed at first that using high quality PVC ceilings such as Innoson would be ideal.
Good morning folks. I need recommendations for a good quality PVC ceilings in the south east of Nigeria. The prices Innoson is quoting per bundle seem somewhat outrageous, significantly different from what they advertised on their website. Thanks
Oga, well done oo. How many square meters are you doing the POP? And any ideas how many bags and kg of the sponge would you require cover a room of 30 square meters? Can I get the cost of the white cements and Sponge? You can give me a response (if you prefer) via chidexy@gmail.com
Good morning folks. Can our experts in the house, Chief Dr Hajji M and co help me take a look at this quote that I got for POP ceiling. The POP ceiling is only to be done on the upstairs.
First the dimensions 1st sitting room is 30m² 2nd sitting room is 25m² 2 sit out for the sitting rooms is 30m² The steps up till upstairs is 35m² Total area to be covered is 120m² His charge for workmanship is 1.5k per m² totaling 180k
MATERIALS 1) 42 bags of white cement @ 3.8k each = 160k 2) 40kg of sponge (fillers) @ 1.5k/kg = 60k 3) 1 big roll of binding wire = 9k 4) 6 packs of concrete nails @ 2.5k each = 15k 5) 1 roll of imperial soap = 1.5k 6) 5 litres of groundnut oil = 2,5k Total for material = 248k
